Chapter Sixteen
Rose woke up to find herself in a room. Still feeling a bit weak from what happened yesterday. She looked around only to see Louis sleeping beside her.
He was seated on a chair while his head was on the pillow. Rose wanted to wake him up at first but she stopped herself as she gently stroked his face. Feeling contented and happy knowing that he had stayed by her side through the night.
Maybe a sound from her must have alert him because he opened his eyes starring at her.
“Are you okay?”he asked and she nodded.
“Am fine. Help me sit up” she said and he pulled her up. Adjusting the pillow to make sure she is comfortable.
“You look a bit pale. Need me to get the doctor?”He asked.
“Am fine and before I forget… My family would be worried. I have to…..”
“Don’t worry. I already made a call and your sister told me that she would inform your mom.”He replied.
“What exactly did you tell them?”She asked.
“That you were staying over at the maid quaters because you finished work late”He returned.
“That’s good. I don’t want them worrying”Rose replied.
“Thinking about others will just make you more sick. Get more rest and…..”
“Aren’t we going to school?”Rose cut in.
“Not when you are like this”
“Am okay and besides we have the exams coming up”She said
“Missing an exam won’t cost you anything but your health will”He said.
” Am going to school. I can’t afford to be lazy like you”She argued
“Fine then but first thing is first. Miranda and her minion were the ones who started the fire?”Louis asked trying to confirm from her and she nodded.
“Then we better make them pay. I will call the….”
“Don’t!”Rose yelled at him
“Why”He asked having a puzzled look on his face.
“Miranda and her minion weren’t the only one. Someone else was there”She said.
“It could have been another one of her minion”Louis suggested.
“No. I definitely heard them saying she was the one who started the scholar student bullying. Miranda followed her order yesterday. ” Rose told him.
“So what do you intend to do?”He asked.
“If we confront Miranda about this. She is sure to lie and so If we must catch the culprit. We have to keep them close so they can lead us to her. Leaving them alone is the best thing for now but we will have our eyes on them”Rose suggested.
“If we must find the real culprit then we must keep them close. I like that”Louis returned.
“Then shall we get ready for school?”She asked and he nodded.
A while later Rose sat in the car with Louis starring at all the new attire on her. He had insisted on getting her new things because her old ones were ruined by the fire. He wanted to get her a new phone but she insisted on keeping the one he gave to her. He had no idea how important it was to her.
“I could have taken the bus”She said a while later.
“And risk you getting worse?”He asked and she fell silent.
This protective instinct she felt from him could it mean something? Could it mean what she thinks. She thought as she put a hand on her chest. Hoping he wouldn’t hear the loud sound coming from her heart.
The car stopped in front of the school and he got out coming to take her bag. Being a perfect gentleman.
“I can do that myself”Rose said.
“The doctor said you shouldn’t over exert yourself. So just let me do it”He said and she let him. Enjoying the concern he was showing towards her.
“Are you okay Rose? We heard about the fire. Did it hurt your pretty face?”Martin asked as he rushed towards them.
“Am fine and as you can see my pretty face is okay”She said giving him a smile.
“As long as you are okay to make jokes then you must be okay” Peter said as he got to them starring at Rose.
He moved towards her and pulled her into a hug. Not caring if the other students and Louis and Martin were watching.
“Am glad that you are okay”He murmured in her ear as he let go of her.
“You love birds”Martin tease softly.
“We are not”Rose corrected quickly.
“No need to feel shy around us. Louis and I both know that you like Peter. Aren’t I right?”Martin asked and Louis nodded.
“Rose is head over heels for you”Louis tease too and he didn’t notice the look Rose sent his way.
“Speaking of love. Your love is waiting for you at our resting room”Martin said to Louis.
“Lilian?”He asked and Martin nodded.
Rose was disappointed in seeing the happy look on his face. He handed Rose things to Peter and left immediately. Could she have been wrong? She thought as she watched him run off to Rose.

Rose was heading to the rooftop when she came across one of Miranda minion. Knowing what she did. Miranda didn’t show up at school today.
On seeing her the minion pretended not to see her but Rose wasn’t going to let her go.
“Trying to hide?” Rose asked.
“Hide! What do you mean?” She asked feigning ignorance
“You know what you did to me yesterday “Rose accused.
“What did I do? I can’t seem to remember”She replied
“So you wont admit that you are at fault?”Rose asked.
“Admit to what? The fire incident isn’t something done by us” she said and unknown to her she has confess the truth.
“How did you know that I was talking about the fire incident. I clearly didn’t mention what you did. I only accused you”
“That’s because… It’s…. because it’s the talk of the school”She replied with guilt.
“Stop playing dumb. I know its your doing along with Miranda but what I also want to know is who was the other person in the room is?”She asked
“Find that out yourself. Do you think I will tell you?”The girl questioned.
“I knew you won’t and so am devoting my time into finding that person. Once I get to find her then you will be dead meat”Rose threatened terrifying the girl who quickly walked past her.
She got to the rooftop hoping she would see Louis. It’s been a while since she last saw him. Ever since he went to Lilian. He hasn’t been seen.
She heard someone footstep and thinking it was Louis. She waited hopefully but the person who showed up wasn’t Louis but Lilian.
“I heard what happen yesterday. Are you okay?” Lilian texted and Rose nodded.
“Just suffered a minor bruise”She replied.
“Well am glad then. There is something I want to show you”Lilian texted again.
“What?”Rose asked hoping it was something good.
Lilian showed her status and it was listed there that she and Louis were dating.
“I was quite jealous of his attention towards you and told him to proof to me that there is nothing between you two and he made it public that we are dating”. Lilian texted and Rose who had been feeling heartbroken at seeing their status got more sad.
“Am sorry that I had doubted your relationship. I was just too jealous and he also made it clear to me he only sees you as his friend and will always see you as that”Lilian texted again and Rose nodded forcing a smile.
“Am glad and congrats”Rose said to the happy Lilian.
Lilian was too excited that she mistakenly hit a flower pot making it fall. Rose knelt down to pick it but something else caught her attention.
She stared up at Lilian who was waiting for her to pick up the flower pot.
“Is something wrong?”Lilian texted as she showed it to Rose.
“Yes. Something is wrong. It can’t be true right?”Rose asked starring at her.
“What do you mean?” Lilian texted totally confused by Rose reaction.
“You are the one. You were there last night?” Rose said waiting for an answer from her.
