MARIANO’S MANSION°°
Menodora sat next to Mariano on the bed as Doctor Grey treated his wound. Eduardo was present too. They all looked worried that Doctor Grey had to speak up.
” He’s a strong guy… He won’t be unconscious for long” He assured and Menodora resumed crying.
” It’s all my fault. if I wasn’t abducted, he wouldn’t have been wounded” She cried even more.
Eduardo wiped her tears and hugged her.
” I know my friend so well, he’s a tough guy. I’m sure he’ll wake up soon ” He patted her back as she sniffed.
After a while, he pulled away.
” How did it happen? How did you get abducted? Why and by who?” He asked.
” You both can excuse us if you want to talk, my patient needs enough rest” Doctor Grey said as he bandaged Mariano’s wound.
” No I wanna stay with him” Menodora cleaned her tears and touched Mariano’s face. Immediately she did that, he snapped his eyes open as if he just had a nightmare.
” Maria!” She cried again. He sat upright and hugged her to himself, forgetting he was stabbed.
” Are you okay? Were you wounded?”He asked, checking her out.
She shook her head as she tried to stop her tears.
” Are you okay? Is it too painful?” She cried while he cupped her face.
” It’s only hurt to see you cry” He stated.
She sniffed and hugged him again.
Eduardo just watched them.
” Hey buddy” He said, drawing Mariano’s attention.
” Diçknose ” Mariano replied with a smile as Eduardo went closer.
” How are you feeling now? Dora called me in a hurry and I had no choice but to rush down here even when I was supposed to stay with Dad. He just gained consciousness”
” Really? Attorney Bills gained consciousness?” Mariano and Menodora asked at once.
Eduardo nodded.
” Yeah, but he keeps staring at us like strangers. It’s been 15 years yunno. I’m sure he doesn’t even know we are his sons” He laughed.
” Thanks, man… thanks for bringing me home this time and not the hospital” Mariano hit his chest softly.
” I didn’t… I met you at home. I met your mom and Dora in tears. I was confused at first, but Max told me you got stabbed” Eduardo explained.
” Max brought me home? How did he know my whereabouts?” Mariano thought aloud.
” Or… ” Eduardo and Mariano stared at Menodora while she laughed awkwardly.
” Don’t tell me you drove me home? ”
” I had to. Fortunately, you gained consciousness again else, I wouldn’t have been able to take you into your car… But there’s a problem” She said.
” I guess, the car got spoiled and tomorrow, the cops will be here for violation, over speeding, no license and you don’t know how to drive” Eduardo listed and she bit her lips.
She wanted to speak but no words came out. Mariano smiled and hugged her.
” Don’t try that next time. Call Max if something happens to me” He muttered and she nodded. She broke the hug minutes later.
” I’ll get you dinner..” She stood up and left the room even before he could stop her.
” Those that made your Dad that way, have you seen them?” Mariano asked and Eduardo exhaled.
” I have someone in mind and I think Dora Should know him too, but I don’t wanna involve her in anything that will make her feel like I’m using her to gain something”
” If you find them, don’t hesitate to tell me. We should kill the bastard together” Mariano said and he nodded.
” I need to go home, Dad got discharged and will be receiving home treatment… will you visit him?” Eduardo asked.
” Yeah… I’ll come with Dora when she’s ready” He replied and Eduardo nodded.
” Bye man..”Eduardo hit his shoulder lightly and started leaving.
” Uncle Nathan showed up today at the office. He changed his name to Santiago” Mariano said.
Eduardo stopped walking and faced him.
” Santiago? Nathan? ”
” Yeah, my late Dad’s elder brother… The one who was supposed to take over the oil and gas company of the Di-falco but he wasn’t too smart so Grandpa Joe gave it to my dad. Uncle Nathan threatened Dad about the company and when he came to take over it from Dad, the company went bankrupt and until today, I have no idea what the cause of the bankruptcy was” Mariano leaned on the headboard.
” Mom said it was because Dad became a gambler after the company was handed to him, but the truth is, my family as a whole is a total mess”
” Why are you telling me this? ”
” You must be wondering why I turned out to be a séx addict right? And you must’ve been waiting for the day I’ll tell you about my reason for hating Rose”
” Don’t force it. If you know it’s gonna make you feel bad, just keep it and erase the memories” Eduardo said.
” You kidding me? We’ve been friends since high school man. I left after I was offered scholarship, then came back and attended the same college with you. Tell me, did you forget you built this house for me”
” Yeah, with your money… ”
” You never give up, do you? ” Mariano teased and they both laughed.
” Well, my regards to attorney Bills and his wife” He added, but Eduardo walked back into the room and sat.
” Why? What’s wrong?”
” Now I think of it, we’ve been friends for… is it eight years now? Ten?” He asked sarcastically and Mariano eyed him.
The door opened and Menodora came in. She’s been listening to them for a while now and wishes to hear the full gist but Mariano had to stop.
” Your dinner” She smiled, taking the food to the living room in Mariano’s room. She helped him to the couch and Eduardo followed.
Menodora and Eduardo just watch Mariano as he ate.
” If you both aren’t gonna join me, then I’m not eating either” Mariano dropped his spoon.
Eduardo and Menodora chuckled before joining him.

RUBY’S MANSION°°
“Someone is trying to protect Menodora Richardson?” Ruby wondered as he stared at nothing in particular.
” Someone saved her too on the day of the incident 15 years ago… Who’s this mysterious protector?” He thought again.
” Larry is dead and I can’t trust Santario anymore. It’s high time I use what he cherishes the most to gain what I want… but before that, I need to know who saved Menodora, and when I do, I’ll f*cking blow off his head” He balled his fist.
He took his car keys and exited the house.

Bob and the other boys stood with their heads bowed as Ruby sat before them.
” Why is Santario not here?” His voice reflected rage which frightened the boys.
” I’ll give him a call ” Bob said.
” No need! You must know the guy who’s protecting Menodora, so tell me; who is he?” He asked and Bob quickly went on a knee.
” I have no idea… We were gonna look for him the day we shot Menodora, but you asked us to look for Attorney Bills instead, so we stopped the search for him”
Ruby touched his forehead like he was trying to think.
” I give you this minutes until I get home, send me the full details of the bastard who is bent on ruining my plans” He said and left. Bob exhaled deeply before standing.
” How do I get in touch with Santario?” He wondered, staring at his phone.
” And why is Larry not with him this time? Why isn’t he wearing his mask anymore?”
He brushed the thought away.
? COME TO THE WAREHOUSE TOMORROW… SOMETHING URGENT CAME UP, AND BOSS IS LOSING HIS PATIENCE.
He sent.
That was the only simple text he could think of ’cause if Ruby eventually sees it, it wouldn’t look as if he’s trying to hide anything from him.
” Things are going faster than I thought” He inhaled.

Santario kept staring at the message Bob sent. He had this urge to reply but couldn’t cos Bob told him his device must be registered on Ruby’s system.
He dropped his phone and stared at the sleeping Dorian who looked even cuter in her sleep. He kissed her lips shortly before lying next to her.
As if she’s been expecting him, she immediately placed her head on his chest, holding him tight with her eyes still closed.
He smiled slightly before wrapping his arms around her. He closed his eyes and slowly embraced sleep.
