Episode 17
Jocelyn laid on her big bed, her duvet covering up her body as she wet her pillow with tears.
Her parents were finally getting divorced.
She saw it coming. They were never together. It was one business or the other.
She knew her parents were no longer in love.
All her life, her father never had any time for her.
Although he provided her with all the material things and showered her with love, she wasn’t really close to him.
Even at that, Jocelyn has always been contented. All she wanted was a happy home. She grew up with much love from her parents and even got spoiled.
She never felt like an only child because she grew up with Dianne and Paula, her best friends who were just like blood sisters to her.
The buzzing of her phone jolted her back to reality. She sniffed and turned, raising her head a bit to see the screen of her phone.
It was Eddie. Again.
She sighed, sat up and reached forward to pick up the phone.
She was in no mood to speak to anyone but she couldn’t keep ignoring him.
She didn’t want him to know what was happening. “Eddie.” She mumbled and cleared her throat when her voice came out in a crack.
*
Eddie frowned as soon as he heard her voice over the phone. She’s been crying. He thought.
“Angel…..are you okay?” He asked, standing up from where he sat.
“I’m fine.” Her response came again.
Eddie shook his head and closed his eyes. He was getting angry. “Talk to me. Why haven’t you been picking my calls?”
Silence.
“Don’t say anything. I’m coming over. Right now. This night.” Eddie said and cut the line without waiting for a reply
He threw his wardrobe open, pulled out a shirt and walked to the mirror.
He put on the shirt, dressed his hair and walked out of the room.
He kept a straight face all along, thinking madly about Jocelyn. He knew something was wrong with her and he wouldn’t be able to wait till the next morning.
As he was walking down the stairs, he caught a glimpse of a girl retreating fast behind the stairwell and just then, Leo also appeared in the living room, acting funny.
Eddie stopped and stared at Leo. He shook his head and continued his way out. Leo was the least of his problem at the moment.
“Where are you headed?”Leo called after him but got no response.
He shrugged and gestured at the hiding girl. “He’s gone now. You can come out.” He called, sitting back down on the couch.

Jocelyn stood up from her bed and stood close to the window, staring out all the time. She wrapped her arms around her body, resting again the wall.
She still couldn’t believe Eddie was really on his way to her house but still yet, she badly wanted him to be by her side right now.
Soon, she heard his car pulling up the driveway. She gasped sharply and rushed out of her bedroom.
The maid ushered Eddie into the house when he cake knocking. He walked into the living room and was about asking after Jocelyn when he saw her running down the stairs to meet him with tears flying out of her eyes.
“Eddie!” Jocelyn cried and ran into his arms.
Alarmed, Eddie took her into his arms and gave her a warm hug.
“Angel….. what’s wrong!” Eddie whispered loudly, searching her face. “Who hurt you? Why this tears? Talk to me angel.”
Jocelyn shook her mouth and opened her mouth to talk but ended up bursting into tears. She snuggled up to Eddie again and he silently hugged her, allowing her to wet his shirt with her precious tears.

“Here.” Eddie mumbled softly, handing Jocelyn a mug of milk.
She was sitting on her bed, her duvet wrapped around her. She smiled and collected the mug without saying anything. She sipped the hot milk slowly, keeping her eyes down to avoid Eddie’s questioning eyes.
“Mind telling me what’s wrong?” Eddie asked softly, sitting in front of her feet.
Jocelyn slowly looked at him and sighed. She put down her milk on the drawer beside her and clamped her hands together on her laps. “I’m just sad.” She mumbled.
“About what? Why can’t you tell me? Why didn’t you pick your phone? Even though are you facing a challenge, that shouldn’t make you reject my calls. These are times when relationship are meant to be useful. We should be by each other’s side during hard times. Hmm?”
Jocelyn sighed again and nodded. “I’m sorry. I didn’t want you to be worried.”
“Well look at me…you got me more worried. Tell me angel. What’s wrong?” Eddie persisted.
“My parents are planning to separate.” Jocelyn finally told him.
Eddie was taken aback. He sat straight, his eyes on Jocelyn’s face. “Like….they are going to get divorced?”
Jocelyn nodded and tears only poured out.
Eddie sighed and pulled her close, feeling so hurt to see her tears. “Sh.” He cooed, stimulating her hair gently with his palm.
Jocelyn’s sobs subsided and he pulled her away from him to look at her face. “I don’t want them to separate. What do I do? Please….tell me what I must do.” She wept.
“You are gonna be fine, angel.”
“No. I don’t want to be fine. I want my parents back together.”
“Have you spoken to your dad about it? Try talking him out of it.” Eddie said, touching her face.
Jocelyn sniffed and looked at him. “I haven’t. I’m still too mad to talk to anyone.” She replied.
“Come down first, angel. You are a strong lady. I knew that the very first day I set my eyes on you on that stretcher at the hospital. You can over come this.” Eddie said with all the emotion inside him and only made Jocelyn’s cries increase.
He hugged her again, begging her to stop crying.
After a while, Jocelyn could manage a large doughnut with fruit juice. She ate while Eddie sat on the couch across from the bed, watching at her silently.
Jocelyn looked up and saw him staring at her. Her eyelashes swept down embarrassed. “I’m sorry for bothering you, Eddie. You should be at home now…. resting.”
Eddie smiled and shook his head. “I’m enjoying the way you eat with a great appetite.”
Jocelyn smiled. “I’m always hungry whenever I finish crying.” She mumbled.
Eddie stood up and walked close to her. He sat down beside her and caught her face between his palms. “Then don’t you ever cry again. Ever.”
Jocelyn smiled and nodded before putting her arms around him, looking into his eyes. “Are you staying for the night?”
“Obviously.” Eddie replied and Jocelyn placed her head on his chest, feeling much better.
There was a knock on the door and a maid walked in. She looked so much startled.
Eddie and Jocelyn stared at her, wondering what was wrong.
“Sonia? What’s wrong?” Jocelyn asked.
“He’s…here…. downstairs….” Before Sonia could complete her statement, the door opened again and Adam walked into the room.
