(WEDDING BELLS)

THE BLACK COVEN
Gunshots echoed everywhere as the police and Miriam’s goons exchanged bullets
Miriam loaded her guns in a rush,she was currently in her office gathering her things
“Boss you’ve got to hurry” Rachel rushed her words
She was standing at the door checking the coast
“Be patient you fool! Stay on guard and stop rushing me” Miriam snapped and tucked two guns on her waist
“Sh|t! They’re coming this way” Rachel corked her gun and shot at them “Move boss! There are more of them coming this way!!!” she shouted as she exchanged bullets with the police
Miriam rushed to the door and also shot at the police,they managed to shoot three and they ran down the hall with the other policemen chasing after them
They ran into the store room and hit themselves
“Stop panting and shut up!” Miriam barked at Rachel while she tried to catch her breath
“Come out wherever you’re!” a policeman walked in slowly and turned on his torch “You got nowhere to hide!”
Miriam peeped and aimed at him,she waited till he stood still and sent a bullet to his skull and he gave up the ghost immediately and fell
They were both about to come out of their hiding spot went more policemen trooped in
“Fuçk it! He’s been shot,they must be somewhere around here,scatter!” one of them said and they spread around the store room
Miriam took out a bomb and Rachel looked at her with bulged out eyes
“Boss—” Rachel was about to bark at Miriam shut her up with a glare
Miriam pulled the mini pin in the bomb and threw it at the direction of the policemen and they hid themselves well and covered their ears
The bomb exploded and some of them died while some just got blown away and injured
“Come on!” Miriam coughed since smoke filled the whole room and they quickly got up and ran to the door passing dead bodies of the police
They were about to go out when a gunshot echoed and they both stopped on their tracks with stunned faces
“Boss” Rachel called out weakly and two more gunshots echoed
Miriam turned slowly and met with Rachel who was already starting to bleed
The policeman that had shot her watched her fall on her knees and he was about to finish her off but when he pulled the trigger it dawned to him that there were no more bullets in the gun
Miriam looked at him and shot him twice without blinking
“Boss…s..save me” Rachel held out her hand weakly
“Don’t fight it,it will hurt less” Miriam muttered and looked at her motionless for a while
Rachel felt her eyelids getting heavier,she tried to keep her eyes open but darkness seemed to have more power as it embraced and consumed her
She fell flat on the floor and Miriam watched her for some time before walking away

IN THE MORNING
PAC BUILDINGS
Xavier shifted uncomfortably in his seat in the boardroom and played with his pen with a distant mind while a meeting was in progress
“What do you think about this Mr Xuan?” one of the investors asked and all eyes turned to Xavier
“Sir?” Patrick called him back to earth and he snapped out of it
“Excuse me” he took his phone and went out
Everyone stared at him in confusion, Patrick stood up and gave an apologetic smile before running after Xavier
“Boss is everything okay?” he asked as soon as he caught up with Xavier
“No, nothing is okay!” he snapped
Patrick looked around to see if nobody was listening to their conversation and he led Xavier to an empty office
“Boss…I can’t imagine what you’re going through but …the company also needs you…things are falling apart around here without you” he stated
“That’s why I came back isn’t it?” he hissed
“But your mind isn’t here,I think it’s best if you checked on how Miss Catherine is doing,get some rest and come back tomorrow” he suggested
Xavier sighed tiredly and took a seat
“My brother is behind the poisoning” he blurted out and Patrick’s head quickly snapped to his direction
“What the fudge! So …what! Wait boss if that’s the case then what’s the plan?”
“One of us dies” he said bluntly and Patrick stared at him like he had grown two heads

WINTER’M HOTEL
Sofie took one last breath while she stared at her reflection on the mirror
She decided to have a mini Bachelorette party with her friends after the engagement party and they decided to come to the hotel
It was almost time to leave when her friend got into the room with her veil
“Finally! Please help me put it on quickly” she said and sat slowly on the edge of the bed
“Are you sure you won’t give birth at the wedding reception?” her friend teased while she put on the veil
“I’ll force the baby back!” they burst into laughter
The door suddenly opened and Grandma Daisy and Millicent walked into the room
“Sorry to disturb but we just wanted to see the bride and check if everything is in order” Grandma Daisy said as they walked fully into the room
“Excuse me” Sofie’s friend said after fixing the veil and she left afterwards
Sofie slowly stood up and faced them
“You actually don’t look bad” Millicent shrugged
“You look beautiful my dear, I’m ready to put our differences aside for the sake of my grandson Anderson” Grandma Daisy said with a smile and Sofie threw her arms around her
“Shall we?” Grandma Daisy held her hand and she nodded with a smile
Millicent went out and they followed suit,Her dress has a long tail that guards were instructed to hold it in order for it not to get dirty
Her dress fitted her perfectly even with a protruding baby bump,it was glittering with diamonds on it and a crown made for a queen on top of her veil
A huge smile carved on her lips when they reached outside and she took a deep breath to calm herself down
“Are you ready?” Her friend spoke behind her
“Yes, I’m ready” she smiled

AT THE HOSPITAL
Xavier walked into Catherine’s ward,the sight of her laying there helpless broke his heart each time
He swallowed hard and sat next to her,he took her hand into his…it felt more warmer than before
She felt his touch and fluttered he eyes open and turned to him
“Where have you been?” she muttered and he looked at her
“Mi amor, you’re awake” a smile crept up on his face
“Can I please have some water?” she mumbled with a hoarse voice
He quickly stood up and reached for the jug of water a cup,he poured some water into the cup and put the jug back
“Slowly” he helped her sit up and placed a pillow behind her “Here” he placed the cup on her mouth and helped her drink since her hands were still shaky
She muttered a ‘thank you’ and he nodded and placed the cup on the table
He placed his hands on her baby bump and caressed it
“I’m sorry for not protecting you like I should’ve” he whispered and kissed her bump through the hospital gown
“Everything is my fault,I shouldn’t have been so careless” she said and he looked at her “The doctor told me..”
“I told him not to—”
“I insisted please don’t be mad at him” she bit her lower lip
He sighed and took out a ring box and opened it “When you took it off I kept it with me,promise me Mi amor..that as I put it on you will never take it off regardless” he spoke with a serious tone and stared at her
She nodded and held out her hand,Xavier took the majestic ring and slipped it on her slender tiny finger
“I love you” she whispered with glassy eyes
“I love you Catherine,at first we thought what we did was a mistake but deep down I knew It was a beautiful mistake because of what I felt.Catherine, it’s you and I against everything… there’s only one thing,either you twinkle in my darkness or I glow in your light… nothing else Mi amor” he whispered
“That didn’t coax me at all” she tried to hide her blush
“Don’t be coaxed” he leaned closer “Just get wooed” he muttered and her face instantly reddened
“Get away from me you pervert! We’re in a hospital” she pushed him away
He laughed and fell back on his seat,she tucked her hair behind her ear shyly with a blush
“Mi amor?”
“Yeah?” she looked at him
“Smile more, it’s enchanting” he touched his chest
“No!” she screamed and covered her eyes and he bursted into laughter

THE WEDDING VENUE
Sofie held tight to the flowers in hand and muttered inaudible words to herself and walked up the stairs leading to the large two big black doors
As soon as she reached them the doors opened ,all eyes turned to her and a soft tune played
Everyone watched in administration as she walked slowly to the altar,no one was accompanying her and she was okay with it
Anderson watched her as she approached him and for a moment he saw Catherine in that wedding gown instead of Sofie,a smile crept up on his face
They held hands as Sofie finally reached the altar
The priest cleared his throat and started with the ceremony
“Dearly beloved, we’re gathered here for the beautiful union of these two young souls,Mr Anderson Xuan and Miss Sofie McQueen, we’ll start with the vows…where are the rings?” he looked at them
Anderson turned to look at his best man and he searched into his pockets with bulged out eyes
“umm I ….just joking” he grinned and took out the ring boxes and Sofie sighed in relief while the guests laughed
He placed the ring on top of the Bible that the priest was holding and stepped back
“Right” he turned to Sofie “Your turn mi lady” he smiled
Sofie smiled and took a ring on the Bible and took Anderson’s hand
“I take you, Anderson Xuan…to be my lawfully wedded husband,in sickness and in health…for better or for worse,till eternity”she said and slipped the ring into his finger
The guests clapped after she put a ring on his finger
“Your turn sir”
“I…” he took the ring “Anderson Xuan,take you Sofie McQueen to be my lawfully wedded wife,in sickness and in health,for better or worse till we grow old together” he slipped a ring on his finger
“What a beautiful day” the priest grinned and they laughed “But I got so carried away because of this beautiful sight that I forgot to ask this very important question” he cleared his throat “Is there anyone amongst you,who is against this union?” he looked at the guests and everywhere was silent as a grave “Speak now or forever hold your peace”
The guests looked at each other and at the back a man with a scar on his face stood up
“I do” he dropped a bombshell
“Alex!” Sofie staggered back
“I’m not letting you marry another man with my child Sofia!” Alex exploded and gasps filled the hall
“What!” Anderson snapped and turned to her
“Hallelujah! ” the priest fanned himself with the Bible in shock
