CHAPTER 69⚔️70
Evelyn walked into the bedroom as she sat on the bed with a dangerous expression on her face.She had two days to go and she knew news would have gotten to her father about the death of his men.
She heard her phone ring and she picked it up reluctantly.She knew it was her father calling.
“Hello,are you calling to check if am still alive?”asked Evelyn and she heard a dark chuckle from the other end.
“Do you think I will bother to know about you being dead or alive?”replied Scar and Evelyn laughed sadly
“I forgot that you are so heartless.Why did you call or have their bodies been delivered to you?”Evelyn asked mockingly.
“You are toying with fire,Eve.You know me well enough to be messing with me”said Scar and Evelyn felt scared for a moment but she brushed it off.
“Cut the crap,Scar.You might be the one to train me but you are old and weak already”said Evelyn and Scar laughed at the other end.
“That’s true but my shooting skills haven’t deteriorated.Wait for me,Eve.Am coming for you”said Scar and Evelyn’s heart skipped.
Though he was talking over the phone but if felt like he was around her and watching her every movement.
“Are you scared?Don’t be yet because when I come I won’t spare you and your lover boy.”said Scar and Evelyn gripped her chest tighter as her grip also tightened in the phone.
“Don’t you dare lay a finger on Charles”said Evelyn and Scar burst into laughter.
“I love dares and you know that.You have to days to go,who knows if you kill him I might let you go.”said Scar and Evelyn shook her head as she laughed sadly.
She knew her father well enough and she knew he wasn’t going to spare her whether she kills Charles or not.
“Do you think am stupid enough to buy that?”said Evelyn.
“No,I don’t but there is no harm in trying”Scar replied chuckling.
Almost immediately,Charles walked in and grabbed the phone from Evelyn.He had been listening to their conversation since but he couldn’t take it anymore.
“We will be expecting you,father-in-law”Charles said tilting his last word and Scar chuckled at the other end.
“I never knew you were there,lover boy.Enjoy your time together till I come for you in 48hrs”said Scar and Charles giggled.
“I will make sure I make a feast to celebrate your coming”Charles replied mockingly.
“You are so bold.I will love to see you this bold when I blow off your skull and that of your lover”said Scar darkly.He was getting angry that Charles wasn’t intimidated by him.
“I think you are mistaken.Your skull will be the one blowing off”said Charles and Scar laughed.
“I would love to keep talking to you but I have a lot of things to do.See you in 48hrs”Scar said as he ended the call and Charles dropped the phone sighing heavily.
He turned to Evelyn and watched her grip the bedsheets tightly.Tears dropped from her cheeks as her grip tightened on the bedsheets.
“You shouldn’t have talked to him.I know my father well and youjust fueled his burning rage.He is going to come and he will kill you without hesistance.”said Evelyn as she cried harder.
She didn’t want anything to happen to Charles and she wanted to do everything to save him but she felt so helpless.She knew she could run away from her father.He was going to find her no matter what.She was so confused at the moment.
Charles stared at her confused state and he felt bad.He knew he was the cause of all of this.If she had killed him from onset then she wouldn’t have to be on her father’s bad side.He walked towards her and sat beside her.
“It’s going to be fine”Charles said comfortingly as he pulled her into a hug.That was a statement he wasn’t even sure of.
Lady Alicia sighed as she left the door.She had been eavesdropping on their conversation and she knew her suspicions were right about Evelyn.
Evelyn was Linda’s daughter that Sylvester kidnapped.She walked away slowly as she sighed in 48hrs everything will be revealed and she could finally die in peace.She turned and took on e last look at their room as she left preparing herself for the great day coming before her.
Charles sighed at his words.He uttered what he wasn’t certain about.
Was it really going to be fine?
Were they going to survive it?
Could they win against Evelyn’s father?
Would he be able to protect his woman?
Those were the unanswered questions going through his mind.
