“Why are you looking away? Is there something on my face??” He asked aloud and she blinked, throwing her eyes away.
“Tessa Thompson” He called.
“Look at me” He added, and slowly Tessa turned to look at him. His eyes and gaze were quite different today. He had an expression one couldn’t express as usual.
“Go do your work dummy” He smirked arrogantly, turning to start going downstairs.
Tessa shut her eyes tightly, clenching her fist as she tried holding her anger.
“Must he find everyway to annoy me?” She gruffed and started walking downstairs too.
She went into the kitchen.
Hayes sat on his chairs, not looking at any of his family as he pressed his phone.
“Good morning dad” The boys chorused and he waved.
“Morning” He replied dryly, his eyes focusing on his phone.
Emery frowned and stood up, walking to him.
“Baby!” She drawed, straddling his laps as she drew imaginary lines on his shirt. Hayes eyes slide up and they met with hers.
At that moment, Tessa came back with a tray of burgers and teas, serving it on the table.
Her eyes slowly twitched to them, she was staring at how Emery was playing lovey-dovey with Hayes.
His eyes caught hers and he smirked. Tessa quickly looked away when she saw him staring at her. His hands moved to grab Emery’s @$$ in front of the boys and Tessa coughed out this time.
“Um sir,…. I didn’t mean to interrupt your session but your kids are here” She cut in and Emery quickly stood up from Hayes’s laps.
She adjusted her top properly before going to sit back on her chair.
“And who are you to remind me that?” He replied.
“I’m their Nanny” She answered boldly and he chuckled.
“I’m starting to wonder who’s the boss among us” He gruffed, digging into his burgers.
She scoffed inwardly and faced the boys.
“How’s it guys?” She smiled and they both gave her a thumb up.
“Though, I don’t still like you, but I don’t joke with your cookings” Liam said and she smiled more.
“Oh Liam”
“You’re the best” Nathan threw a sink at her and she blushed heavily. Hayes saw it and frowned.
“Excuse me Tessa, but are you flirting with my son’s?” He asked, getting angry with jealousy abd she faced him.
“No way sir! They are too young for such a thing. I’m just doing my job to be a good nanny to them” She argued and he exhaled.
“Better” He muttered.

Tessa made sure to arrange the dining table before going back to wash the dishes in the kitchen.
She was washing and humming a song when Emery walked in, leaning on the wall as she watched Tessa’s back view.
“How much do I have to pay you to leave us alone?” She asked, and Tessa almost flinched in fright and turned to the door.
“I’m sorry” She furrowed her brows.
“I said, how much do I have to pay you before you leave us alone?” She repeated, going into the kitchen fully.
“Nothing ma’am, I’m only being a good nanny to the boys and nothing more” Tessa replied, trying not to freak out.
“Really? Nothing more? No strings attached? I saw the way you were staring at Hayes back there. Just so you know, we’re getting engaged soon and we’re gonna be one so there’s no place for you here” Emery said and Tessa nodded.
“It’s only six weeks and I’ll get out her ma’am” She replied.
“Six weeks is much… How about you leave today? Name your price and I’ll pay you” Emery snapped.
“What? Are you bribing me? I’m not leaving yet ma’am and that’s final!” She snapped back.
She made to turn away and continue washing when she grabbed her hair from behind and Tessa cried out.
“Let go of me!!” She shouted, trying to fight back, but Emery slapped her hard across the face. Giving her a scratch on her face with her long nails..

Emery released her hair angrily, panting heavily.
“I’m gonna make here a hell for you if you don’t pack out! MotherFuçking slut!” She snapped at Tessa’s face, storming out of the kitchen.
Tears flowed out of Tessa’s eyes as she touched the injured spot on her face and she winced.
“You’re mad Emery! All of you are crazy!!!!” She shouted.

“Really? She did that to you?” Natalie asked over the phone after Tessa explained everything to her.
“Yes Nat”
“She’s a she-devil girl…” Natalie said and she sighed.
“I don’t know anymore Nat… I’m starting to get close to the boys and I can’t leave them so soon”
“Or you mean Hayes? You love him, don’t you?” She giggled and Tessa hissed.
“Be serious for one Nat!! I don’t love him and I never will cus he’s just a jerk!” She replied with a scoff and Natalie kept giggling.
“Get out of my phone!!”Tessa shouted, throwing her phone on the bed angrily.
Nathan and Liam ran in without knocking and Tessa was surprised to see them.
“Nanny Tin Can?” Liam called first and Tessa looked at them.
She was used to this name anyway so it’s no big deal anymore.
“Do you both need anything?”
“It’s daddy’s birthday today!” They chorused, happily.
“Oh… Wow!” She replied, feeling uninterested already.
“Nanny please help us make him a birthday cake” Nathan said.

“If you don’t, we’ll tell dad to fire you from you job” Liam glared.

Hayes groaned for the third time as he finished scrolling through the tenth docvment on the table.
He knew today was his birthday but he wasn’t in the mood to celebrate it and neither was in the mood to tell anyone.

The door to his office bursted open as his workers rushed in with balloons and a cake.
Hayes almost flinched on his swivel chair as his eyes went wide open. He thought he had seen a ghost.
“What’s this?” He stood up.
“It’s your birthday today boss Hayes and we can’t forget that” Linda smiled.
“Everyone, get back to work! Did I tell anyone I need to celebrate it?!” He yelled at then and they flinched, surprised.

“Not buts, Linda! Get back to work all of you and take your cake with you! Go eat it!” He shouted like the boss and they all started rushing out of his office.
He scoffed angrily as he sat back on his chair.

“Darn it!”He cursed, standing up again, he grabbed his suit and phone and started leaving his office.

“Okay, cake is ready and your dad is gonna be home anytime soon” Tessa interrupted.
“Hurray!” They smiled.
“So, we’re gonna leave the cake in here for few minutes till your dad gets back. We don’t to ruin the surprise” She said and they both nodded.
“Let’s go” She took them out of the kitchen.

NIGHT*
Five minutes later, Nathan groaned tiredly for the umpteenth time.
“When is dad gonna be back Nanny?” Liam groaned. Tessa’s eyes kept moving at the door expecting Hayes to be back anytime soon.
It was already night time and he isn’t back yet.
“He’ll back soon boys” She replied and they groaned again.
“Let’s just go eat the cake if he doesn’t wanna come”
Nathan started walking to the kitchen and Tessa ran after him.
“No Nathaniel!!!” She shouted, carrying him back to the living room.
“Buh I’m hungry!” He complained and Liam snickered.
“Wh@tëver” He rolled his eyes, sitting back expectantly.
Soon, the door came open and Hayes barged in with a cold look on his face.
His eyes fell on Tessa, and he quickly looked away.
“Daddy!!!” The boys rushed to hug him.
“How have been your day?” He asked them and they giggled.

“Happy birthday!!!” They both screamed and he smiled for the first time.

“I’m tired, let’s rest a little” He replied and started walking upstairs, ignoring Tessa.

Meanwhile, Hayes walked into his room and he stopped abruptly because of what he just saw.

Shamelessly, he starked naked in front of her before going into the bathroom.

Hayes came out soon, going to put on some cool wears before returning back to the bedroom.

Hayes walked downstairs to meet the living room as silent as a graveyard.
“Where are they?” He thought.
He was about climbing back up again when the lights came on, revealing Tessa, Nathan and Liam.
“Happy birthday!!!!” They all chorused and he turned to face them.
A smile crept up on his lips handsomely and Tessa couldn’t stop blinking nervously at him.

“You guys made this for me?” Hayes asked, referring to the cake on Tessa’s hands.
“Oh… Yes sir” She smiled, dropping the cake on the table.

The boys dipped their hands into the cake as they started eating hungrily.

He slowly walked closer to her and Tessa’s breath hiked again.
“S-sir?” She stuttered and he smirked.
“You made that cake?”
“Uh… Yea… Yes” She replied.
“I would love another surprise yunno” He whispered into her ears and she shivered, shutting her eyes tight.
“W-What surprise?” She found herself asking.
“What if I said I want you?” He whispered again and this time, her pu*sy clenched tight.

He chuckled slowly before stepping away from her, his hands in his pocket.

He snickered as he went back to his boys, joining them in the cake feasting.
“Darn you Hayes Flynn!” She muttered, gritting her teeth furiously.
