Chapter-Twenty-Six
The next morning, Ha-jun was making breakfast with the help of the cook, just then the doorbell rang, and the maid left to open the door, Byung-ho and Chan-yeol entered.
“Welcome sirs”. she greeted and they responded to her.
” Is Baek-Hyun in?”Byung-ho asked and then Ha-jun came out of the kitchen immediately after she heard their voices, they were stunned to see her dressed in Baek-Hyun shirt.
“Good Morning guys, you are here”. she said smiling at them.
” Yeah”.Chan-yeol sputtered.
“Is good you guys are here anyway, breakfast will be served soon”.
” Um, sure, we will go and say hi to Baek-Hyun “.Byung-ho said.
” Okay, I guess he should be awake now”.
“Okay”. they walked away and Ha-jun went back to the kitchen. Soon they arrived at the doorstep and walked in without knocking, they saw Baek-Hyun coming out of the bathroom drying his face with a face towel.
” Hey, guys”. he said and they stared hard at him.”woah, what’s up with the faces?”
“Really? Has it gotten to the extent that you two had to be sleeping together”. Chan-yeol said rudely.
” What are you talking about?” he asked as he sat on the bed.
“Exactly what you heard, you two spend a night together, right?” Byung-ho asked.
“Yeah, she spends a night here, what’s wrong with that, I mean we are getting married soon”. he said and they sighed tiredly at him.
” You– chan-yeol got interrupted by a knock on the door, Ha-jun entered.
“I came to call you guys that breakfast is ready”. she said smiling.
” Ok, let’s go “. Baek-Hyun said as he stood up and left with her, his stare confusedly at him.
” Are you sure she hasn’t bewitched him?”. Chan-yeol asked.
“I hope so too, let’s go “. Byung-ho said and they walked away.
A few days later, Baek-Hyun was piling up with work in his office when the door opened, and Mrs. I-jun entered Baek-Hyun was surprised to see her.
” Mom?”. he called surprisedly and stood up to hug her but she pulled back from him and she went to sit down, Baek-Hyun sighed tiredly as he moved to her and sat down on the table facing her.” seriously Mom, you didn’t even accept my hug, why? are you angry with me?”. he asked calmly staring straight at her frowning face.
“I didn’t come here to chat with you but to ask you a simple and clear question”. she said unfriendly and Baek-Hyun smiled.
” Ok, what is the question?”. he asked and Mrs.I-jun turned to him.
“Where is Ji-ho? What happened to you two? Why did you choose to go ahead with the marriage?”. she asked and Baek-Hyun grunted as he left for his seat.
” Really, Mom? I thought you said you have one simple question to ask me, Why all these questions? Which one am I going to answer?”.
“All of the above, I want a simple answer to all the questions I just asked”.
” Well, as you can see, Ji-ho and I are no more together and –” he got interrupted.
“Since when?” She cut in surprisedly and Baek-Hyun sighed.
“Mom, will you please don’t ask me, she left me with no choice and I have to give in to her decision, she chose to stay away from me and–”
“And you willingly let her go without knowing the reasons?”.
” Mom, can we not talk about this right now, I have moved on”.
“Really? You and I know you still love Ji-ho and the reason for getting married to Ha-jun is just for you to pay Ji-ho back for leaving you”.
” That’s not true, I am not getting back at Ji-ho because I am getting married to Ha-jun”. he said.
“Really? now tell me, do you love Ha-jun? Are you willing to open up your heart for her?” she asked and Baek-Hyun sighed.” you see, you can’t, your heart still belongs to Ji-ho” she sighed.”I am your mother and I will always find the best for you, please don’t make a mistake that you will regret tomorrow”. she added and stood up to leave.”Your father requests you come to the house tomorrow after work so that you two can discuss the marriage date”. she said and walked away shutting the door behind her. Baek-Hyun sighed tiredly and fell loose on the chair.
The next day, everyone gathers around the living room, also with Baek-Hyun’s parents who had come in earlier to Mr. Dong-Geun’s house to discuss the marriage rite, they were all served orange juice.
“I think July will be the best date for the wedding”.
Mrs.Do-Yun said.
” Yeah, I think so too, right Baek-Hyun?”Ha-jun said happily as she jolted him out of his thoughts, all this while, he was lost in his thoughts, he was stealing gaze at his mother’s sad look.
“Um, yeah”. he replied smiling forcedly.
“That’s a month from now”. Mr.
Dong-Geun said.
” Yes, just a perfect timing”.Mr.Dae-Dung said.
“So, I will say the date should be the 31st”. Ha-jun said happily as she held onto Baek-Hyun’s hand smiling.” right Mom?” she asked referring to Mrs.I-jun who smiled faintly at her by nodding her head in response.” yes!”
“You are going to make a perfect bride my dear”. Mr. Dong-Geun said.
” Of course Daddy,” she said.
Some hours later, Byung-ho and Chan-yeol invited Baek-Hyun to a clubhouse, and they sat down at the bar having their drinks.
“You are getting married next month? That’s so sudden”. Chan-yeol said.
” You do want to go on with this? Are you sure about all of this?”. Byung-ho asked.
“Yes, I want to marry Ha-jun and it’s the right decision I made, and you guys need to be supportive”. He said.
” We can’t be supportive of that, you are making a great mistake in your life”.Chan-yeol said unfriendly and gulped his drink.
“Seriously, you guys don’t want my happiness?”.
” We do, but your marriage to Ha-jun won’t lead you to your happiness, trust me on that”. Chan-yeol said and they got interrupted from behind.
“Hey, guys”. Si-u said and they turned in her direction, she looked attractive in her mini-wear, and Byung-ho was caught off guard by her beauty.
” Si-u?”. Chan-yeol called surprisedly as he moved to hug her and then pulled away from each other arms.”You look hot!”.
“Thank you”. she said smiling.
” What are you doing here?”Byung-ho asked.
“I came to chill out with my friends and I decided to come say hi to you guys”.
” Oh, that’s nice of you, I hope you have a lot of fun”. Baek-Hyun said.
“Sure, and one more thing, congratulations Baek-Hyun, I heard you are getting married soon”. she said.
” Not soon, is next month on the 31st, hope you will be present?” Chan-yeol said.
“Um, I will try, anyway I –” she got interrupted by one of her colleagues calling out her name.
“Si-u”. he moved to her and Byung-ho frowned to see him holding her so lovely.” Everyone is waiting already”. he said smiling.
“Ok, alright, guys see you some other time” ” She walks away with the guy and they stare after them. Chan-yeol notices Byung-ho’s mood as he gulps from his drink.
” She does look hot tonight”. Chan-yeol said and they continued with their drinks.
A few hours later, Si-u came out with her friends after having enough fun.
“Wow, tonight was amazing, I really enjoyed myself”. Si-u said feeling a little tipsy.
” Am glad you do, I will drive you home”. he offered.
“Nah, don’t worry about that, I can take myself home” ” She declined and the guy tried to be persuasive, but suddenly a car horn interrupted them, Si-u looked in the direction closely and noticed it was Byung-ho.” Byung-ho?”
“You know him?”. he asked.
” Yeah, you go ahead I will be fine”.
“Are you sure?” he asked and Byung-ho horn at them again.
“Yeah, thanks anyway”.
” Okay”. he left to meet the rest and they drove off. Byung-ho came out of the car and walked up to her.
“Byung-ho, what are you still doing here at this time? I thought you left with your friends already”. she said
” Yes I did, but I was worried since you are still here with your friends, why do you stay in there so late? look at you, you look tipsy”
“Yeah, it was fun in there “. she smiles faintly at him.
” come on I will drive you home”. he took her hand and they entered the car and drove off. Along the driveway, Si-u was feeling dizzy and Byung-ho was stealing gazes at her.”Are you feeling sleepy?”.
“Yeah, I just got a little headache”. she said weakly.
” Don’t worry, I will make you some tea once we arrive”.
“You don’t have to, is getting late already”.
” I don’t care, I can’t leave you hangover like this, it might get even worse tomorrow,” he said and she sighed.
A few minutes later, they arrived and he helped her inside by carrying her in a bridal style, Si-u was caught off guard and she opened her eyes.
“What are you doing?”.
” Taking you inside, you look weak and tipsy”. he arrived at the doorstep and pressed on the door code that Si-u said, he helped her lay on the couch.” just relax and let me make you some green tea”.he left to the kitchen to start making the tea, a few seconds later he was done and he moves to her and helps sit upright.” here, drink this”.
“Ok,” she took the cup from him gulps all the tea, Byung-ho helped her with the cup on the table and she lay back on the couch.”Thank you, Byung-ho”. she muttered half asleep and then drifted off to sleep. Byung-ho smiled at her as he took off her shoes, he carried her in his arms and located the closest room, he found one and lay her gently on the bed, and covered her with the blanket before he left shutting the door behind him, he enters his car and waited for a while before turning the engine on, he waited and think for a while and then he turns off the engine, wine up the glasses of each window and lean on the seat, fold his arms across waiting to drift to sleep.
The next morning, Si-u came out of the house holding a trash bag, she was surprised to see Byung-ho’s car parked outside.
“Byung-ho?” she called surprisedly and she quickly dumped the trash bag in the trash can and then walked to the car and knocked several on the window and Byung-ho jerked up from his sleep, he pulled down the glass.”Byung-ho, what are you doing here? did you sleep here?”.
“Um–“.
” Let’s go inside, I will prepare a warm coffee for you, is cold out here”. she said, he came down and they went inside. Some minutes later, they came out.
“Thank you for the coffee”. he said.
” You don’t have to, I should thank you as well for looking out for me yesterday, thank you”.
“Is nothing”. they smile at each other.” Um, I would like to ask you if you will be chance tomorrow, I heard the first snow will be coming out in GANGWON-DO-PROVINCE, I would love it if you go with me”.
“Sure, I would love to”. she replied.
” Okay, I will pick you up tomorrow” they smiled at each other.”Bye”.he entered his car and drove off, Si-u waved after him and then went back inside.
