Chapter sixteen
Mr.George was having their dinner and he noticed Desmond wasn’t touching his food.
“Is everything ok son?”.He asked and Desmond nodded.
“You don’t like the food?”.Mrs.Ava asked.
“I do, is just that I don’t have an appetite”.He said.
“Are you sick? You only lose your appetite when you are ill”.Blake said. Isabella story don’t copy.
“Am not sick”.He took a scoop of the meal and chewed.
“So, Daisy, how are you coping with school?”.Mr.George asked.
“Very well Dad, I love the school”.She said smiling.
“That’s good, I heard you have made new friends.”.Mrs.Ava asked.
“Yes Mom, they chose me and they are nice”.
“Ok, but be careful with them”.Mr.George said.
“I am always careful”.She said and there was a quiet moment.
“You two know that your birthday is next month”.Mrs.Ava said.
“Yes Mom, are we celebrating it?”.She asked.
“Of course dear, why do you ask?”.Mr.George asked.
“That’s because I have never celebrated my birthday before, my foster parents couldn’t avoid it”.She said.
“That’s too bad”.Desmond said.
“Does that mean Jasmine won’t be celebrating her birthday this year”.Blake said and everyone became quiet, Isabella story don’t copy.Daisy frowned as she noticed their moody face.
“But she has always celebrated them for the past eighteen years, so not having it one year won’t kill her”.Daisy said unlikely.
“You don’t get it, Jasmine loves celebrating her birthday, she is always excited about it and loves going to the orphanage home to give gifts to the children and then have a party at home”.Blake said.
“We can still do that”.Daisy said.
“Sure, we will”.Mrs.Ava said.
“What do you think Desmond? “.Daisy asked.
“It’s fine with me”.
“Yes, I can’t wait to have all my schoolmates around, is actually going to be the best, since it’s my first time”.She said happily.
“And you are going to love it”.Mr.George said and they continued eating.

Jasmine was seated on her bed staring out from the window lost in thought, Isabella story don’t copy. she was thinking of the good times with her friend Olivia and her family as a tip of tears dropped down from her eyes.
“Jasmine?”.Mrs.Lucia called immediately she entered her room and noticed the door wasn’t locked. Jasmine cleaned off her tears immediately when she heard her voice.
“Mom”.She said smiling forcedly and her mother moved to her.
“Are you ok dear?”.She asked curiously knowing fully well she was hiding something.
“Yes Mom, am fine”.
“Jasmine, you don’t look fine to me”.She took her hand tenderly.”I might not trained you up, but I can feel something is wrong, you are hiding something, please talk to me, my princess”.She said politely and Jasmine sighed.
“Am sorry if I have been keeping things to myself, I just don’t want to stress any of you with my problems”.She said sadly and her mother caressed her face. Isabella story don’t copy, Meanwhile, Mr.James and his mother were eavesdropping on the door.
“Jasmine, you are not a burden to us, we love you and you know that wh@tëver troubles you also troubles us”.She said and they smiled at each other. “Now tell me what is going on”.
“Well”.She sighed.” it hasn’t really been easy for me in school, everyone despises me and won’t have anything to do with me because of my background, even the person I once called my best friend turned her back against me, it just me alone in school doing my own thing”.She said sadly as tears filled her eyes including that of her mother and the rest at the doorstep.
“Oh my, it must have been tough for you”.
“Not really, am getting used to it”. She sniffed and smiled at her. Isabella story don’t copy. “Please don’t worry about it, this was the reason I didn’t want anyone of you to know about it and get worried”.
“We are so sorry we didn’t plan well for the future”.
“I am not complaining mother, I love it here, you people have been caring toward me since I arrived here, I have never felt unwanted by all of you, and I love you all so much”.
“We love you too” Then the door opened and Her father and grandmother entered.
“Sorry we were eavesdropping”.Mr. James said as he moved to sit next to his daughter. “We are sorry you are going through all this in school, I promise to work hard and make you proud”.He said and Jasmine smiled at them.
“Of course, I believe you Father, you have made me proud throughout the days I have been living here and it’s my turn to make you a promise, I promise to work hard to be somebody in life and make a lot of money, build a nice home for you and buy you all an expensive wears”.She said and they laughed.
“I pray to see that day”.Grandma Alma said.
“You will grandma, I will pray to God to give you a longer life…I mean we all will live to see that day”.She said and they smiled.
“I can’t wait”.Mr. James said as they hugged each other.” we love you so much”.
“And I love you all too”.She replied sincerely.

The next day, Jasmine entered the school corridor and everyone started laughing and started making mockery faces at her, Isabella story don’t copy. she ignored them and continued walking to class, she was getting used to it because they also laughed and mocked her yesterday when they saw the post and she care less. She enters the class and the laughter increases, she meets eyes with Olivia also laughing at her with Daisy and her friends, and she ignores them left for her seat. brought out her book and started reading. Desmond walked in with his friends to see the students making a mockery of Jasmine, but she was so focused on her book. he sighed and left to sit down also with his friends.
“Hi, Jasmine”.Nathan said to her as he moved to sit down facing her and all the student turned in their direction. Isabella story don’t copy. ” So, how is life treating you?”.He asked smirking.
“What can I help you with Nathan? As you can see you are distracting my reading”.She said unfriendly and Nathan scoffed.
“Don’t be too difficult Jasmine, I know you are lonely and you need someone to lean on, I am available for you baby”. He smirked and the student giggled.

“You see, I am the only one that still cares for you, just accept to be my girlfriend and I will make your dream come true”.
“Nathan that’s enough”.Desmond said.
“Come on man, I am just getting started, she is no longer your sister or from a wealthy family, so I can do as I please with her, so, I will advise you to keep off”.He said and turned to Jasmine. Isabella story don’t copy. “So baby, where were we?”.he smirked and tried to touch her hand, but Jasmine pushed back.
“Don’t you dare!”.She stared angrily at him and he scoffed.
“Or what? You have no one to seek help from, or, is it your wretched parents”.He said and got a slap on the face which made everyone to gasped in surprise.
“Don’t you dare speak to my family like that!”.She said angrily.”Even if I were to beg to be fed I would never accept to be yours, you are nothing but a lose dog!”.She yelled and Nathan tightened his fist, he raised his hand to hit her, but someone caught the hand.
“That’s enough!”.Desmond said angrily holding his hand.
