Chapter eight & nine
Rose ran towards the bus station only to see the bus leaving. It will take about an hour for another to be back and she couldn’t wait.
Hailing a coming taxi. She got in, telling him to go to Royal High.
She had called but he didn’t pick . She called Peter instead and he told her that Louis was still at school.
“Pick up you jerk!”She muttered as she called his number again and when there was no reply from him. She went through his diary again.
“On the night of the full moon. I turn into a vampire”
That part had gotten to her. If he had been at home. She wouldn’t try to do a thing cause she knew he would be fine but he was at school.
He could run into someone and do the same thing he did to her. The thought of another person going through what she went through, horrified her. She had to get there and try to stop him. She thought as she continued to read his diary.
“Once I turn into a vampire . It takes about an hour or two or through the whole night. It depends on how strong the moon is. The best I can do is to stay away from people at that moment or they stay away from me”
The taxi stopped in front of the school and she stopped reading. Paying the taxi fare. She ran into the school.
She went to their private room and found no one there. His bag was there proving that he is still at school.
She began searching, making sure she wasn’t spotted by the security guard. Being spotted by them will put Louis in more danger.
She was heading to the garden when she heard a girl scream. It was coming from the hall way.
She began heading towards the sound and stopped when she realised that she was putting herself in danger too.
Should she just call for the security guard . She thought but that thought was destroyed when she recalled something else she read in his diary.
“All vampires are meant to be killed. If word gets out that am the last vampire left. I will be killed just like the rest ”
As much as she h@tës him. She couldn’t let him have that kind of fate. Bracing herself she ran to where she heard the voice and stood still when she saw him.
He was in his real form and he had pinned someone on the wall. Just like he did to her . The girl turned out to be Miranda. He was choking the life out of her. Seeing this she quickly ran towards him.
“Stop it Louis!”She yelled as she tried to pull his hand but he pushed her hard that she hit her back hard on the wall.
Enduring the pain she felt due to the push. She ran towardst him again.
“You are going to kill her. Let her go Louis!” She yelled again and he turned to stare at her.
While he used one hand to pin Miranda on the wall. He used the other to grab Rose by her neck.
“She shouldn’t have seen it. You shouldn’t have seen it.”He had said the same words when he attacked her for the first time.
He grip on her neck was getting too tight and though she tried hard to push, he wouldn’t budge.
He got side tracked and she used that opportunity to bite hard on his hand which was holding her neck. He released her and she fell hard on the floor.
Gasping for breath, she saw him walking towards her and she shrank into the wall. His eyes were murderous and he would kill her if she didn’t do something.
She stood up wanting to run but he pulled her back.
“Why bother to run when you know you will end up like her”He said gruffly and was about to take her by her neck ,but she moved fast. Moving straight into his arms. Holding him tight.
“Come back to your senses please!”She said as she tightened her arms when he would have pushed her away.
“Come back to your senses, Louis!”She yelled when he tried to pull free again.
Louis opened his eyes to find Rose in his arms.
“Come back to your senses”She kept muttering as she held him. He tried to pull away but she tightened her hold on him.
“Rose”He called and she moved out of his arms to stare at him.
“You are back”She whispered with a smile on her face. The smile dwindled as she collapsed back into his arms. Losing consciousness.
For a while Louis stood looking at the chaos around him. He had turned into a vampire and had tried to kill the two girls who were now unconscious, but what he couldn’t fathom was how he returned to his real self? How did that happen without an hour going by? He thought starring at Rose who was still in his arms. Could she be the reason?
THE NEXT DAY
Rose opened her eyes to find herself in a hospital. He hadn’t left her on the street like he did the first time.
She sat up, only to see Miranda on the other bed starring at her. She had also been brought to the hospital and judging from her relaxed pose. She is certainly okay.
“Your finally up”She acknowledge Rose who didnt bother to reply.
“How come we both were brought to the hospital together? They said we had been fighting but I doubt that. Do you remember what happened last night?”Miranda asked.
“You don’t remember what happen?”Rose asked and she nodded.
“My memory from yesterday evening is totally blank. The last thing I remember was following Louis but then I can’t recall any other thing. Did something else happen?”Miranda asked.
“Of course not! We were both fighting and had ended up falling down the stairs. That’s why we are here”Rose lied quickly and she nodded in acceptance.
The door opened and the doctor walked in telling them they were okay and they could leave. While Miranda insisted on staying to get more treatment .Rose left the school.
As soon as she got home. She was queried by her mom and sister who had been worried about her whereabout. She told them a lie not wanting them to know that she had been at the hospital for a second time. They believed it and she quickly change to go to school.
She had to know why Miranda couldn’t recall a thing. She thought as she got to school before class started.
Louis stood at the rooftop going through his message. Luckily the two of them were okay and though they have been discharged. Miranda chose to stay while Rose left. The info had been given to him by two of his most trusted guards. They knew of his secret and have always been the one who helped him clean up the mess created each time he turned to a vampire.
Amongst the students who were downstairs, he saw Rose running towards the building he was in . She must probably be coming to see him. Well he also had to see her. He had to confirm if she had been the reason he turned back to his real self before an hour.
It took a while but she made it to the roof top. She stood starring at him from a distance and he wondered if she was scared of him.
“What are you doing here?”He asked and she walked towards him making it clear that she wasn’t scared of him.
“To see you”she returned.
“Why?”he asked.
“The phone! I thought I lost it last night but knowing you have it is a great relief”she said starring at the phone in his hand.
While his guard took them to the hospital he had taken the phone, he thought as he waited for her to keep on talking.
“Are you okay?”She asked suddenly
“Why do you ask?”he returned
“Its because of what happened last night. You turned into a…….Arrrrrgh….you know, your real self”She said confirming his suspicion.
“So you remember what happened?”Louis asked and she nodded.
“Of course. Who can forget something like that. Miranda did! She forgot everything that happened. What did you do to her? “She asked.
“I erased her memory” and also erased yours. How come Miranda forgets the whole thing while you remember. He thought within himself.
“Really? You didn’t erase mine right cause I remember everything “She said and that puzzled him more.
He had turned back to his real self just before an hour and she had been around him then. He had erased her memory but she still remember. Just what is she? He thought as he silently watched her.
“I just came to check up on you. Knowing that you have everything sorted out. I will take my leave”Rose said.
“I will keep on giving you my protection ” He said subddenly and she turned to stare at him.
“Why? ” She asked. Just yesterday he didn’t want to have anything to do with her.
“I want the same thing you want” he replied.
“And what do I want?”She asked again.
“You want me to help you get with Peter while you help me get together with Lilian. Am willing to help just as long as you help me in return”He said
“Why are you suddenly changing your mind. You were angry just because I mentioned her”
“I was angry because you found out about my feelings for Lilian. No one knows, not even Peter and Martin but you found out and feeling angry. I lashed out at you”he said.
“So now your wiling to protect me as long as I help you with Lilian?”She asked and he nodded quickly.
“Its a deal then. As long as you give me your protection and help me with Peter then I accept”She replied happily.
Louis had another reason for keeping her close. He wanted her to help him with Lilian and most of all. He had to know if she had been the reason he changed back to real self before an hour and why his erasing of her memory didn’t seem to work. To get his answer to this questions. He must keep her close.
“I will get started now. By the end of today. You would have exchange numbers. I can assure you of that”She said as she turned to leave but he called her back. Giving her the phone.
“I don’t…..”
“How do you expect us to communicate with each other. Just use it”He said giving her the phone.
“Am only accepting it because of the communication. As soon as I buy one for myself. I will return it to you”she said and he nodded in reply.
“I will get to work now”She said as she walked off while Louis watched her leave.
