Chapter Ten
“Why are we here?”Rose asked as Martin pulled a stop in front of a boutique.
“What do you think?”He asked in return having a mischievous smile on his face. He pulled the door open for her and when she hesitated, he pulled her out of the car.
“I still need an answer to all this”Rose said as she was pulled into the boutique.
The attendant were standing before someone and on seeing them walk in. They bowed at them confusing her the more.
“I brought her as you requested “Martin said and she turned her gaze only to see Louis seated on a sofa. Going through a magazine.
“Is this your doing Louis?”Rose asked stunned by the two of them plotting.
“The hassle to get you was too much and so I asked Martin to do it for me. Here is the number of the blonde”Louis said as he tossed Martin a notepad.
“Let me get this straight. You asked Martin to bring me here and in exchange he gets the number of a blond?”She asked the two of them and they nodded nonchalantly.
“You must be kidding me! I left my place of work without a notice. I demand you take me back right now!”Rose yelled at them both.
“Sorry Rosie. If someone has to take you back. That will be Louis. I did my job in bringing you here. So it’s time for me to leave to get ready for the party”Martin said as he walked out of the boutique.
“Party? What party?”Rose asked
“A get together Peter family is having. It will be a total loss if you miss it”Louis said as he stared at her for the first time
“Why would it be a loss if I miss it?”Rose asked and he tossed the magazine aside, getting off the sofa and walking the few distance that separated them.
“Am trying to return the favour”he said
“Favour?”
“You helped me with Lilian. So it’s only right that I help you with Peter and we must start with this party”
“Isn’t it too soon?”Rose asked feeling a bit rushed.
“It’s not. If you want Peter for yourself then you must start now but firstly we have to start with your appearance”Louis said starring at her.
“What do you mean about my appearance?”She asked.
“A make over. No one would notice you looking like this”He said hitting her head softly.
“Ouch! That hurts”She yelled at him.
“This are the clothes I chose for her. Let her put it on and show it to me. I will decide the best one”Louis said to the staff who were already taking Rose to the changing room.
Louis was going over a magazine when she walked out in the first dress he chose.
He looked up to see Rose looking stunning in a blue chiffon gown. It was body hugging and it brought out her curves. It was a clothe which would certainly tease everyone eyes.
“What do you think?”Rose asked as she waited for his response.
Louis found himself clearing his throat before giving her an answer “Bad. I don’t like it. Change it” He said quickly and she pulled a face before going back into the changing room.
Louis wondered why he felt strange seeing Rose in that dress. Maybe it’s because it’s the first time he is seeing her dressed up that way. He thought as he watched out her walk out in his second choice.
“What do you think?”She asked again and this time he didn’t find it hard answering.
“Too elegant . Another one”He said
“Common Louis”She called clearly upset but he only sent a smile her way.
He watched her walk off and tripped due to the gown length. She stood up quickly.
“Am fine, Am fine”She said to the staff who were all over her but he knew she wasn’t. Her teeth was gnarled together, she must be embarrassed. He thought, smiling to himself.
She twirled out in his third and fourth choice but it wasn’t any better. He finally decided on the Fifth dress.
“It’s time for the make up session”He said as they were taken to the next floor. The stylist who took charge of Rose make up certainly out did himself.
Rose stood in front of the mirror starring at herself. Wondering if she is the same person.
“Beautiful right?”Louis asked as he stood watching from behind.
“All my life have never been dressed like this before. I didn’t even know I could be this ….this different. Thanks Louis”She said suddenly and Louis who had been meaning to tease her felt surprised by her gratitude.
A lot of girls would have willingly take what he gave to them without a thank you even wanting to get more but she…..he stared at her as she stood admiring herself in the mirror.
“It’s going to be a full moon tonight”they heard the staff saying as they walked past them.
“Full moon? That’s not good”Rose said as she turned towards him.
“If the party will take place in the evening. Then it’s something you can’t attend”Rose added as she walked towards him.
“The party would have to be cancelled for me then. I thought I would be your partner and set you up with Peter tonight”Louis replied smoothly.
“Don’t worry. I will try my best to charm Peter. Your work won’t go to waste. Just don’t go out or anywhere else “She said looking serious.
“Why? Is it because you are scared that I will try to hurt you and everyone else?”Louis found himself asking.
“Of course not”She returned.
“Then why? Why do you insist on me not coming?”He asked wanting to know her answer.
“It’s because am worried. Not about the others but for you. Does that answer it?”She returned and he nodded. Somehow her answer got him feeling relieved.

“It’s huge”Rose said as she walked into Peter mansion with Martin beside her.
She turned to find Martin starring at her, feeling nervous she looked away quickly.
“Is something on my face? You have been starring at me ever since you came to pick me up”She said
“I just can’t believe it’s you. The transformation really suits you”Martin said still eyeing her.
“Thanks”Rose returned with a smile.
“This transformation isn’t for Louis right?”He asked suddenly and she was quick in answering.
“Of course not!”
“What about me?”He asked and she gave him the same reply.
“If it’s not me or Louis then definitely it’s for someone in there. Could it be Peter?”He asked knowingly.
“What could be about me?” She couldn’t give him a reply because Peter walked towards them having heard Martin last sentence.
“It’s just that…..”
“It’s nothing”Rose returned stepping on Martin foot to keep him shut.
“Shut up”She mumbled for his ears only.
“Okay”Martin replied clearly in pain.
“You two are funny. Who is she?”Peter asked clearly not recognising Rose due to her makeover
“It’s Rose. Her transformation is great right? Louis did the whole thing”Martin said as Peter turned his gaze on her.
Rose stood hoping he would compliment her but that never happened because he looked away, changing the subject.
“Louis couldn’t come because something urgent came up”Martin said.
Martin attention was claimed by the other student who came to pull him away leaving Peter and her alone.
They both stood starring at each other, not saying a word. Rose was clearly feeling shy and when she got enough courage to say something he excused himself. Saying he had something to do.
She watched him walk off. He didn’t seem to notice her transformation. She thought as she sadly took an empty chair while the celebration began.
With Martin chatting away with girls and Peter who she had clearly came to the party for ignoring her. She wanted to leave.
She was still contemplating on doing that when she got a call from her sister. Finding a quiet area she picked her sister call knowing she was going to be nagged.
“Party! I can’t believe this. You kept mom and i worried while you went for a party. Great job Rose. Great job”Bella kept on nagging though Rose had explained to her.
“Who do you think you are to nag me! You are not my mom and you should count your stars lucky that am not there with you or I would have zip that running mouth of yours”Rose yelled her patience running out.
“Let me remind you who I am. I am your sister! Your sister and I will keep on nagging you until you stop being ÇOçky!”Bella yelled in return.
“ÇOçky!You dare call me ÇOçky? Isabella!”Rose yelled out her name clearly out of patience.
“Yes I dare and don’t you dare come home late”She said as she switched off the phone.
“You dare cut the call. Your a dead meat tonight”Rose said as she turned to leave only to see Peter standing behind her.
“Am sorry. I didn’t mean to eavesdrop but I thought you might be……”Peter stopped as he laughed out.
“Are you always like this?”He asked a while later and she closed her eyes, feeling embarrassed at being caught arguing with her troublesome sister.
” Not always”she replied as he gave her a glass of juice.
“I noticed that you have only been drinking that and so I brought it to you”He said softly and she felt a thrill of happiness.
Though he had ignored her, he had been watching her. The thought itself made her bold to ask.
“Why are you here? You should be at the party”She said
“It’s too noisy. I prefer being here”he replied and she smiled gently to herself.
“You don’t mind if I join you in staying here?”He asked
“I don’t after all this is your home and…..”She stopped when he moved towards her to pick a fallen petal which was in her hair.
His nearness alone did an over drive to her heart. She thought as she stared at him.
“The moon is beautiful”he commented and her thought drifted to Louis,wondering if he is doing okay
“Why don’t we take a stroll?”He asked stretching his hand out to her.
She was about taking it when a man dressed in the waiter uniform came towards them.
“Am sorry to intrude but your friend. Master Louis is here”He said
“What do you mean by that?”Rose asked In a rush.
“I just said that young master Louis is here and……”the man didn’t finish his word because Rose ran past him. Leaving Peter standing there with his hand still outstretched.
Louis stood on the second floor. He could feel his inner self wanting to come out but it couldn’t not until she gets to him. He thought as he stood out of people view.
He had to know if Rose is the reason why things keep on changing. He had to get his answer that is why he had chosen Peter family get together as the perfect time.
He knew it would be a full moon even before he heard the staff at the boutique saying it. He had come out on a dangerous night just to get his answers and she was taking long to show up.
He hadn’t even thought of her not showing up. He had intentionally sent the waiter to tell Peter about his presence and she should be here soon. The possibility of her not showing up got him feeling scared.
He could feel his claws coming out. He will become a vampire soon and she is nowhere to be seen yet.
He sat on the floor, trying to control himself when he heard someone footsteps.
Could it be her? He thought. His question was answered when he heard her call his name.
“Don’t come close. I might hurt you”He replied thinking it was too late and he would hurt her.
Instead of doing as he said, she knelt in front of him, taking hold of his hand.
“Louis! Louis! Don’t give in. Don’t let it take control over you. Are you listening to me? Talk to me Louis”She said looking worried.
Louis couldn’t reply and that was because he noticed that his claws were receeding and he wasn’t turning into a vampire.
“Talk to me Louis. Are you okay?”Rose kept asking.
He took hold of her hand which stopped her from saying anything.
“It work. It really work”He said starring at the girl who made it work.
“What work? What are you saying?” She asked.
“It really worked Rose! Your my cure”He said and before she could respond to that he pulled her into his arms. Hugging her to himself as he kept on whispering that she was his cure.
