Chapter Thirteen
“Are you okay Rose?” On hearing Peter voice. She wiped the tears off her face and turned to him with a forced smile on her face.
“I went to the rest room to look for you but you weren’t there and you…..”He stopped
“Am sorry for making you worried but am feeling sick. Can you please take me home?”She asked wanting to leave.
” I can but are you sure you are okay?”He asked as he touched her cheek.
“Am fine Peter. Can you just take me home. I just need to rest”She said quickly.
“Fine then but let me tell Louis about it and……”
“Don’t! Please just take me home”She said as she pulled him back.
“Okay then”He said as he put his arm around her , leading her to his car.
Through their journey back home, Rose didn’t say a thing. All she kept thinking of was of Louis. Why did she have to fall for him? She had been the one who helped him get close to Lilian and now she is getting hurt seeing the two of them.
“Aren’t you going to get off,Rose.”Peter said jolting her back to the present.
“Are we home?”She asked as she stared around them.
“We are. You don’t look well enough to me, can I take you to the hospital?”Peter asked and she shaked her head in denial.
“No! Am really okay. Like I said I only need to rest and then I will be fine”She said preparing to leave but she stopped when Peter took hold of her hand.
“I wanted to give this to you when we finish watching the concert but……”he stopped talking to put a hair pin in her hair.
“Beautiful”he said softly starring at her. Rose wanted to feel something. She wanted to feel what she felt around Louis but she couldn’t. She didn’t even feel a thing by his closeness.
“It’s beautiful. Thanks”She managed to say.
“Am glad you like it. Will you go out often with me?”He asked and the answer she had wanted to give at first was a no but she stopped herself.
“I will love to”She replied “Am sorry that my illness had to ruin our first outing together but I will make it up to……”She stopped when he kissed her on the lips.
“You don’t have to make it up to me. I really like our first outing together and I look forward to our next outing “He said and she nodded. She got out of the car and waved him off.
She touched her lips gently. That had been her first kiss and she didn’t even feel a thing, she thought sadly. She should try to make it work. Louis is in love with Lilian and she had also been in love with Peter once. So if she put her mind to it. She could make it work. She thought as she walked into the house.

Louis woke up feeling happy and great. It was a Sunday and it was a free day for him. He got out of bed and went to the balcony to enjoy the fresh air. He took out his phone wanting to call Lilian when he saw Rose watering his mother garden down stairs.
She had left with Peter without saying a word. Maybe the two of them went to have some time alone. Well Peter already had his time with her yesterday. Today will be his. He thought already thinking of something.
Forgetting about calling Lilian. He decided to call Rose instead. Still watching her from the balcony, he saw her take out her phone from her pocket. She stood starring at the caller and without answering it. She tuck it back into her pocket.
Did she just ignore his call? He thought as he called her again. She didn’t even bother to take out her phone. He decided to text.
“Are you ignoring my calls?”He texted and once again he waited for her to check it, which she did only to tuck her phone back into her pocket without giving a reply.
“Ignoring my messages too?”He muttered to himself.
Quickly he freshened up and went downstairs. She was at the kitchen cooking with the other maids. On seeing him, other maids greeted and she did the same, immediately she went back to her task. Ignoring him.
“Rose can you go to the supermarket to get this things?”One of the maids asked giving her a paper which had the list of things in it.
“Sure”She replied as she tried to untie her apron. Seeing that she was stuck with the belt. Louis moved towards her to help but she moved away from him.
“I can do it myself young master”She said as she successfully untie the knot.
“Don’t bother calling the driver. I will take her myself”Louis said and before she could protest. He took the list from her, while he took the back door.
Rose sat still in the car while he drove them to the supermarket. She have been trying to avoid him but with him being this way. She couldn’t achieve it.
“Did I do something wrong”He asked suddenly.
“What do you mean young master?”She asked feigning ignorance.
“Stop with this young master thing. We are out of the house. You can treat me like you did before”He said
“I don’t want to”She replied folding her arms and he stopped the car.
“What’s with this attitude? If I did something to get you angry. Just tell me. I will make amend”He said.
You did nothing wrong. It’s me who is trying to distance myself because I fell for you. She thought silently.
“You did nothing wrong. I just don’t feel like talking”she lied.
“Are you sure? Cause I feel that there is more to it. I watched you this morning when I called. You didn’t pick and you didn’t even read my texts”He said
“Were you spying on me?”She asked flabbergasted but he laughed taking her hands in his.
“I wasn’t and I don’t want us fighting. Apart from the people in my home . You are the only one who knows of my real identity. I don’t want to lose your friendship”He said looking serious.
Friends. That is all he will ever think her as. She thought as she pulled her hand away from his.
“Okay. Just some few weeks ago. You didn’t even want me close to you and now your saying you don’t want to lose our friendship. You really are something”She joked and he laughed.
“Now your back to being yourself”He said as he started the car again.

“Where are we?”She asked as he stopped in front of a stall.
“To get some snack. Your young master never misses on his morning snack but due to someone. I had to “He said as they both got out of the car.
While he bought the snacks. Rose stood sending a text to Peter. Unknown to her Louis had sneaked behind her to read what she was typing.
“Why refuse to go out on another date with him?”he said suddenly.
“Have you been spying again?”She asked.
“You said you like Peter and now that you have the opportunity to go out with him. You are using your job as an excuse”He said.
“If you don’t understand a thing. Then it’s best not to meddle”she replied.
“Fine then but take this from me.”he said giving her the things he brought.
“And then I will take this from you”He said as he took her phone from her.
“What are you doing!”She yelled at him.
“Helping you reply”He said as he began to text Peter.
“Stop that!”She yelled as she ran towards him but he ran from her .
“Stop it Louis and the car is parked there”She said
“Don’t worry the super market is not that far from here”He said as he continued typing.
His phone began beeping for a message and she called him to come take it cause he had handed his phone to her along with the snacks he bought.
“I don’t need to check it . It’s not that important. This is more important. My darling Peter…”He began texting and she yelled out his name running after him again.
Unknown to them. Lilian stood at the other street watching the two of them laughing and joking while she stared at the message she had sent him.
Feeling angry, she went back into her car while the chauffeur drove off.
THE NEXT DAY
The next day Louis got out of his car only to see Lilian waiting for him.
“Good morning”He said and she acknowledged his greeting by giving him a smile
“What do you say we go out on a date today?”Lilian texted showing it to him and he read about to reply when he saw Rose walking ahead.
He remembered the message he had sent to Peter the other day and quickly excused himself from Lilian before going to Rose.
“So what was Peter reply?”He asked
“I could kill you! you know” Rose replied and he smiled.
“What did he say? Would he meet you at the rooftop? I intentionally sent him that message so you two would have some fun”He said
“How can I have fun with him at the rooftop. You are just unbearable”She said
“Did he see it or not?”He asked.
“I deleted it before he could read it”She replied.
“What? How could you ruin the chance I gave you to be alone with Peter?” He asked.
“Am simply telling you to mind your business”she said
“You really are frustrating you know?”He said as he took off his bag. Throwing it at her to carry it.
“And you are impossible!”she yelled as she went after him.
Unknown to them Miranda and her minion stood watching the two of them.
“I really h@të her”The first girl said
“Me too. She is stealing Louis from us all”The other replied.
“Why don’t we do something. We just can’t sit back and watch her keep up with this act?”Miranda said.
“But Louis had warned us not to ……”
“He wouldn’t know. All we have to do is just to find the right time” Miranda suggested.
“Your right. Let’s make her remember who she is” her minion chorused together. Unknown to them. Someone stood listening to their conversation. Someone who also h@tës Rose and wants her out of the way.
