YOUNGER – Episode 4

Sunny exhaled deeply, patted her hair and knocked the hard wooden door.

Her mother opened it, right away and Sunny flashed a bright smile.

“Mum!” Sunny gushed, and hugged her mother tight.

“My daughter!” Mrs Davis smiled.

They disengaged, but their arms were still over their bodies.

Her mother stroked her hair, and cheeks and sighed deeply.
“You’re getting younger, you know…and I like it”

Sunny forced a smile.

“Come in. Eaten?”

“Yes…” Sunny replied and sat down.

Her mother sat close to her.
“So,,, how about we watch TV-

“Mum…I didn’t come here to…watch TV. I came to tell you something concerning Clement…”

“Clement?” Mrs Davis chuckled.
“What about him? Does he wanna push the date of your marriage forward”

Sunny sighed.

“What’s wrong? I hope…you two didn’t fight, right? If you did,,, please…reconcile. It’s okay to get into a fight. Even siblings fight. We fight too,,, a lot but make out later, right?”

“Huh…I and Clement did fight but-

“Then,,, you should make up? Should I call him and scold him? I know he did wrong. My baby can’t start a fight. She’s too jovial”

Sunny smiled nervously.
“Mum?…What if the fight can’t be settled? What if-

“And what if, it can? Baby…I already told my friends about your marriage. They are all happy and are expecting me to hand them the invitations”

“Mum!! No…why? Why? Why did you talk about it? We promise to keep it to ourselves, till 2 weeks before the D-day. Maya didn’t even tattle about it!”

“C’mom, Sunny. Don’t act like you don’t know me. You know how well I chatter” Her mother smiled.

“Huh…Actually, I need to take my leave”

“Now? But you just came…”

“Later, Mum” Sunny whispered and went away.

Sunny sat down on the bus stop bench. She was in thoughts. written by sommy pearl f. on fb

“What did mum just do!” She screamed.

Many turned to her, but her for concern wasn’t those prying eyes.

“As if that isn’t enough. I have to pay my part of the rent today. Gosh!! That’s the end of my cash,,, no…my life! I don’t even have any money for the electricity and water bills! Why’s life this hard?!” She thought, aloud.

“I really really need a job. Maybe, I can start searching for one, now I’m out. Home is gonna be lonely. I’m sure Maya went to work already” Sunny stood up.

Maya has a small studio which she uses to run her business. She’s a photographer.

Sunny stopped at a restaurant. She saw ‘waitress needed’ pasted on the glass.

She smiled and walked in.

***

“Wow. I thought you were 18” The manager smiled. Sunny had just showed her, her ID.

Sunny laughed, and shook her head.
“I look 18,,, but I’m 30”

“But,,, you know this, right?” The woman stated.

“Huh??…What?”

“We don’t apply older women here. Its the rules. We apply from 20-25”

“Huh? Why?”

“Like I said before,,, Its…the rules”

“Its…quite a weird rule” Sunny chuckled nervously, and shortly.

“Well,,, most businesses, companies, industries, factories do that. We just follow the rules. Besides, There are a lot of job that could hire people, your age”

Sunny sighed deeply and looked down.
“Maya should just trade her age to me” She thought, sillily.

THAT EVENING***

“How much will you pay?” Maya laughed, wearing her white facial mask.

“Get lost” Sunny laughed.

“I’m just 23…So,,, 23,000 won?” Maya laughed.

Sunny laughed hard, as well.

“The pay I was gonna get for the waitress job isn’t even up to that amount. The pay is quite poor. I need a better job. A pay…just as good as my secretary job” She sighed.

“Then, go online. A lot of jobs can be seen online. You can apply there too” Maya suggested.

“I guess you’re right…” Sunny smiled.

“I’m always right” Maya smiled back, tapping the facial mask which was on her face.

“Ah…How was the discussion? Between you and your mother?” Maya asked.

“Huh…Well,,, It didn’t end so well”

“Why? What happened??”

PRINCE’S MANSION***

“Won’t you go home? I wanna be alone” Prince sighed, deeply.

“You…introverted soul. This is why you are never gonna get a wife like your grandma wants” Clement chuckled.

“I’m better than someone who two-timed” Prince mocked, and raised a brow.

Clement heavily sighed.

Prince took out his phone, and clicked an app.

“You are still on the app?” Clement glanced at it.

“You introduced it to me. And I’m benefitting from it. It teaches me lot”

“How?”

“It teaches me…that ladies don’t love me for who I am. They just love me for my money, fame and face. Sad”

“I don’t understand…” Clement said.

“Just leave” Prince yawned.

Clement scoffed and walked away.

Prince looked at the messages and sighed sadly.

Most of the messages he saw,,, wasn’t what he desired to see….

Though, he was under disguise on the chatting app.

The app isn’t that famous. Clement introduced it to Prince after he met Sunny through it.

Clement thought Prince would find true love, like he did.

But all girls, were turning him down, after he confessed his feelings.

Now, those girls who turned him down, were the ones dying for him in real life.

He knew them since his grandmother had set him up with them, as his blind dates.

Maybe cause, he used a profile picture, different from his reality.

His picture showed him, wearing a mask and hat which concealed his face. He was standing on a grass where coffee plant grew.

It was a small village.

His username was ‘Coffee Farmer’.

The app only preferred you, using a nickname than your real name. It was more of a name-anonymous app.

He was scrolling down…

Just then, He saw a new profile.

‘Baby Sunshine’

The profile picture was a really bright sun, which had a face, and was smiling radiantly.

He smirked and sent a ‘hi’

“Look at what boredom caused, Clement” He sighed.
