Chapter Twenty four & Twenty five
“Put me down Louis! Put me down!”Rose kept on saying but he didn’t stop until he got to his tent.
“I could have walked myself. Why act like a bully?”She asked as he finally let her down.
“Bully? You call this bullying?”He returned.
“What do you refer to this then. You arrogantly come to my tent, saying that you don’t want me to stay there and when I tried to refuse. You used your strength and threaten me. Tell me if that isn’t bullying “She yelled at him.
“Think wh@tëver you want. All I know is that you aren’t going to share that tent with that half cast”
“Why are you so against him? Though you’ve been speaking to him in Chinese. I know that something is off between you two”She stated.
“You are right! I don’t like him. He is nothing but a player and he is dangerous to girls like you”He replied.
“And you aren’t dangerous? Staying in the same room with you is very dangerous “She said.
“You’ve slept so many times around me and never have I been tempted to touch you. So be rest assured that I will not be a threat to you “He said before leaving the tent.
He didn’t notice the sad expression Rose had as she watched him leave. She would have preferred him to be tempted than not to be at all.

“Hello everyone. Am Luther King. Your host for this year camping trip” the MC said and everyone screamed out except Louis who stood at a distance watching the whole thing with Peter beside him.
“Must this be done all the time?”He asked Peter as he stared at Rose amongst the crowd having fun.
“It’s a routine and am sure that the sport will come afterwards”Peter replied.
“What sort of sport?”
“I think it’s the piggy back race or something. Am not that well informed about it”Peter replied and their attention was taken by the MC who told them to pair up according to their tent arrangement.
“Why must they pair up according to their tent Arrangement?”Louis echoed the MC
“That’s the way it goes. We don’t have to participate because we have been given a tent of our own but Rose will be participating with her partners. Speaking of the devil. There she is with Yu si Feng”Peter said teasingly.
Louis watched Rose standing beside Yu si Feng while they both talked. Yu si Feng had moved close to her and was saying something that made her laugh.
“We will start with the piggy back race. So each team should pick two representative for the race”The MC said getting on Louis nerves.
Louis stood watching Rose as she and Yu si Feng went towards the starting point. Louis began to head towards them when Peter pulled him back.
“The game is about to start. Where are you going?”Peter asked.
“To separate those two”Louis returned as he turned to leave again when Peter pulled him back.
“You have no right to do that”Peter said.
“Why? ”
“Firstly it’s just a game and secondly Rose is not your girlfriend or anything. She has the right to do wh@tëver she wants to do. So stop being a spoil sport and stay back”Peter said and after thinking about what he said. Louis decided to do as he say.
“Why are you so relaxed watching Rose with that guy. Don’t you know he is after her?”Louis said after a while.
“I know he likes her”Peter replied.
“And your not going to do a thing. Isn’t she your girlfriend”Louis said.
“Rose isn’t my girlfriend”Peter replied and Louis stared at him In surprise.
“But you two were all….on the bus. She chose to sit beside you “Louis said.
“That’s because I know a secret of hers”Peter replied.
“What secret?”Louis asked.
“That she likes someone else and that happens to be you”Peter replied leaving Louis speechless.
“Peter I…..”
“You don’t have to say anything. Have known for a while now that she likes you and I also know that you told her to get rid of the feeling she has for you”Peter said and Louis nodded.
“I suggest you reconsider that”Peter said gaining a look from Louis.
“What do you mean?”
“Can’t you see! You also like Rose”Peter replied.
“What nonsense are you spewing?”Louis said as he thought that Peter was joking.
“You like Rose. Don’t you wonder why you get angry with Yu si Feng. It’s because he is by Rose side. Your angry and jealous of him and you paying for Rose trip isn’t because you are bored and looking for someone to play with. It’s because you care for her. You know how hard she has been working and want to let her take a bit of rest by going on this trip” Peter said and Louis stood thinking about what Peter said when a loud noise came from the crowd.
Rose and Yu si Feng had won the piggy back race. He watched Rose as she gave Yu si Feng a hug. Exalting in their triumph.
“Judging from the look on your face. Your jealous watching the two of them right? That’s what I call love Louis. Rose is in your heart and if I were you. I will try to get her before I lose her for good”Peter said to him again.
Peter words followed Louis all through the day and even to the night. What he feels for Rose isnt love. She is only a close friend and that’s because she knows about his secret. He thought as he walked into the tent to find Rose asleep.
He moved towards her and put the covers over her properly. He sat beside her and stared at her face. Even if she is asleep she looks beautiful. Yu si Feng is right in calling her Pretty. He thought as he smiled to himself.
His gaze drifted to her lips and slowly he moved towards it wanting to kiss it. It was just too tempting for him to resist. He thought as he was about to kiss her lips when he stopped himself.
What is wrong with him? He thought as he walked out of the tent. His heart was beating fast. This had only happened when he was with Lilian and it’s happening with Rose now. He thought as he put a hand on his chest.
“It’s what I call love. Rose is in your heart”Peter words drifted back to him.
He is in love with Rose and it took someone to tell him that before he realised it.
THE NEXT DAY
“it’s a one to one trekking today” Jenny and Sandra said beside her.
They were the girls from the neighbouring school and also the one she had been meant to share her tent with.
They have been close after their grouping in the same team yesterday.
“A one to one trekking. What’s that?”Rose asked them.
“It’s a trekking around the camp with your companion”Sandra said.
“All we have to do is to pick the same number with someone”Jenny chipped in.
They went to join the queue which were picking a number when Yu si Feng came to her.
“I picked number Thirteen. Make sure you pick the same number”He said to her and she would have replied if Louis hadn’t showed up then.
“Rose is my partner. So forget about her picking your number”He said as he took hold of her hand pulling her out of the queue.
“How come am your partner when I haven’t even picked a number yet?”She asked as he kept on walking with her trailing behind him.
“That’s because i haven’t picked a number too and so we both are partners”He said and she pulled her hand away from his.
“Am going back to pick a number”She said as she turned to leave only for him to obstruct her path.
“You don’t have to pick a number”He said
“Why? Why shouldn’t I pick one. You are the Lord of the school and can do what you want but am just an ordinary student who have to follow the rules”She said as she turned to leave only to be stopped again..
“If you are with me. You dont have to follow the rules. So come with me. I have something to show you”He said pulling her before she could resist again.
A while later they were climbing up the hill and though Rose wanted to give up as it was a bit stressful . Louis kept on dragging her along until they got to the top.
“What do you think?”He asked as she stood watching the scenery. The little hills and valleys gave the whole thing a beautiful view.
“My God Louis! It’s beautiful”Rose said as she ran ahead of him. Acting like a little child.
“Do you think it’s worth your climbing the hill?”He asked as he felt contented watching her.
“It is! Have never seen something this amazing before. The sun! have never seen its setting. Let me take a picture”She said as she picked up her phone to take a picture of the view.
Louis stared at her, glad that he had brought her to see it. Her excitement made him happy.
Originally he had brought her to tell her of his feelings but seeing her excitement. He will just have to postpone it but he could at least make use of the situation. He thought as he moved towards her.
Rose was happily taking picture of the scenery when she felt Louis arms around her while he stood behind her.
“What are you doing?”She asked as she tried to pull away but he pulled her back.
“Wanting to take pictures with you”He said as he took her phone from her while he put the camera on them.
“Must we really take it like this?”Rose asked and he nodded moving close to her.
She didn’t know why he was suddenly acting this way but she found herself liking it.
“Smile”He said as she smile and when he took two to three of it. She pulled out of his arms.
“I think we should head back to camp now”She said as she walked passed him.
“Rose ?”He called and she turned to stare at him.
“Remember what I told you to do?” He asked
“You always tell me a lot of things. So be more specific”She said waiting for his answer.
“It’s nothing. Just send me the pictures. I like it”He said as he took her hand in his not answering her question.
“Is this really necessary? You don’t need to take hold of my hand”She said trying to pull away but he held it tight.
“It’s slippery here and you might fall”He said and she had no option than to follow him.
