“Why do you want to see her? “Arabella asked standing in front of her father.
“To clear up the past. I want her to know that you didn’t want to give her out , I want her to know that you and John are both innocent in this whole mess” her father replied.
“Why would you want to help? You never do anything if it wouldn’t benefit…..”She stopped talking when her father pulled her into his arms.
“Am sorry my child. I let you down in the worst way possible and your suffering for my actions”He said breaking Arabella anger towards him.
He pulled back to stare at her “I will talk to Fiona and tell her the whole truth. I’d rather she h@tës me than she hating you” her father said and before she could say a thing.
Her father asked Gerald to take him to Fiona room which Gerald obliged him.
Arabella still couldn’t believe that her father had come all the way here just to help her. All her life she had always been hoping for something like this to happen and now that it’s happening she feels it isn’t real.
“You look pale Ara, have a seat”John said as he help her seat on the sofa.
“Should I get you something to drink or…..”
“Did you ask my father to do this?”She asked wanting to know if it was of her father’s accord or if John had pressured him into coming.
“I won’t deny that I had gone to see him hoping that he will try to do something and help but your father insisted on coming here and clearing the air. It was your father idea to talk to Fiona”John replied.
” I guess I have to thank you for this”Arabella said.
“You don’t have to. Believe me when I say that I want things to be good between you and our daughter”John said.
“And what about you? Don’t you want things to be good between you and her?” Arabella asked.
“I also want it but I won’t rush it or pressure anyone into it”
“Am sorry for what happened earlier. I should have been precise about my facts before jumping into conclusion and blaming you. I even hit you which I h@të myself for, Am sorry” Arabella apologised.
“Its okay. If I had been in your shoes too, I would have done the same but am glad that it’s all been cleared up” John said.
“Friends again?” She asked and he shaked his head negatively.
“Why?”Arabella asked.
“Once Fiona finally open up to us as her parents, I hope we all can get the chance to be a family”
“I don’t know. Its not up to me but it’s up to Fiona to decide that and there is something else John. I love Gerald and I can never love someone else so wh@tëver you are…..”
“I know. Am sorry for asking you those crazy things yesterday. I know for a fact that you love Gerald and am happy for you but promise me one thing. If Gerald makes you cry in any way all you have to do is to come to me. I will always be here for you” John said making her smile.
“Don’t worry. Gerald isn’t the type to make a woman cry” Arabella assured him.
Just then they heard footsteps approach and they both stood up expectantly when they saw her father.
“How did it go?”Arabella asked.
“Am not sure. She was quiet through the whole thing and the only question she asked me was if I was her grand father which I replied” her father said
“If she’s as stubborn as you then I think it will take time for her to adjust to ……….”
“Excuse me everyone but there is someone here who wants to talk to you”Gerald said as he stood at the top of the stairs beckoning Fiona to come out.
Arabella knew what she was going to say even before Fiona said it. Call it her maternal instinct or any other thing. All she knew is that her daughter have finally accept her and is willing to give her a chance.
TWO WEEKS LATER
“Aren’t you going to work today?”Arabella asked as she layed her head on Gerald laps even as they sat in the sitting room watching a movie.
“Don’t you like me spending time with you? You were complaining yesterday that you hardly see me and now that am here with you. Your still complaining” he replied.
“Am not complaining. Am just asking because you have a lot to do ever since you put the passion perfume out in the market. You’ve been busy”She told him.
Its been two weeks since the news about her and Fiona had been out. Two weeks since Fiona had asked her to be a proper mom to her. Two weeks since the launch of the newest perfume at Gerald company.
The perfume launch had gone well and it’s been selling also making a lot of money into Gerald’s company. The issue about her on the news have been forgotten and that’s all due to her father who had had a press conference on the same day he came to talk to Fiona.
He took all the blame for her and made it clear to everyone that Arabella is just a victim who had no choice but to let go of her child.
She got back everyone sympathy and all her fans awaits her new single which she is currently working on.
“For you I have all the time in the world” Gerald said as he bent to give her a kiss.
Her phone began to ring and when she saw the caller she answered immediately.
“You want me to join you guys?”She asked whoever was on the line.
“But I thought you and Fiona wanted to be alone, so you could bond some more”Arabella said again.
“I will be there then”She replied as she end the call starring at Gerald.
“Is that John?”Gerald asked and she nodded.
“Does he want you there to spend time together again?”Gerald asked and she nodded.
Ever since Fiona accepted her to be her mom. She along with John and Fiona have been spending time out.
They make sure she is well protected each time she goes out with them and people who sees them thinks they are a couple or a family.
She knew it was unfair to Gerald but she has no choice. Its the only time that she gets to spend with her daughter and though Gerald has been understanding she knew that he’s feeling left out.
If it isn’t her job taking her time, it’s either her spending time with Fiona and John.
“Yes. He says Fiona wants me there too”She added not wanting him to feel jealous.
“Fine then. You can go”Gerald said as he stood up to leave but she held his hand preventing him from leaving.
“Are you angry?”Arabella asked.
“Am not. I just remembered myself that have got to be at the office to sign a important docvment”He told her.
“But Gerald I…..”
“Its okay love. I understand that you want to spend time with Fiona and if you have to do it with John. I don’t object, just don’t stay out late. Let me get change and drive you there”Gerald said as he pulled his hand away still having the sad expression on his face.
He drove her right to the park where Fiona and John were having a picnic. He didn’t even wait for her to wave him goodbye before driving off.
Guilt at having to Jilt Gerald eat her up even as she joined Fiona and Gerald. Though Fiona and Gerald tried pulling her into the games and disscussion they were having. She couldn’t stop thinking about Gerald.
“Am sorry guys but you will have to continue with out me”She said as she stood up.
“Why?”John asked.
“Do you have work mummy?”Fiona asked.
“No. I don’t but I made a promise to spend the whole day with someone today. I can’t fail him, I promise to spend lots and lots of time with you guys later on” Arabella said even as she gave Fiona a kiss before running off.
“Mummy is something”Fiona muttered as they both watch her leave.
“Your not angry with her or anything right?”John asked hoping Arabella sudden leave won’t hurt the relationship with them.
“No. I know she’s going to see my uncle and am okay with it. Let’s play some more daddy”Fiona said as both father and daughter continued their game.
