Ivy opened her eyes gently, and was surprised to see Charles in her ward.
“She is awake,” Violet said, and Charles looked at her.
Violet pleaded with Charles to pay Ivy a visit before Maxwell and Ella does, and thankfully, he obliged
.
“You’re awake,” Charles said, and Ivy tried to get up, but Charles helped her lift the bed instead.
“Thank you,” she muttered all smiles.
“I’m glad that you are awake, at least I can leave now,” he said, and she smiled.
“You… you called me, I clearly remembered,”
“Yeah, I did,”
“How did you know…”
“That you were trying to commit suicide?” he asked, and she bowed her head in shame.
“Someone told me,”
“That’s not possible,”
“I bet. I could also say it’s impossible,”
“How did you know?”
“Actually… I don’t usually say this, but I’m…” his words faded off and he whispered the rest to her ear.
“What?” Ivy gasped.
“What? What did you tell her?” Violet asked, and he chuckled.
“How do you expect me to believe that?” Ivy asked, all smiles.
“Then how else can you explain all?”
“Did you tell her that you can see me?” Violet asked.
“You are really a dreamer…”
“Come on, that’s supposed to be a secret,”
“Dreamer?” Violet shouted, unable to control her laughters.
“What? Who wili ever believe that? Do you think are Joseph?”
“Don’t you believe me? It’s much more believable than saying that I see ghosts, right?”
“Seeing ghosts?” Ivy laughed again, and he laughed too.
“Funny, right?”
“You’re a really funny person. I haven’t laughed this hard in a while,”
“If you are unhappy in that house, why don’t you move out?” he said, and they both looked at him.
“What?” Violet and Ivy chorused.
“You are unhappy there and even attempted suicide… why don’t you just move out and find happiness?”
“You are right, I’m unhappy in that house, but I can’t move out,”
“Why?”
“Because moving out means that I accept defeat, it means that they won, that they won. You don’t know the full story, but there are some reasons why I can’t leave. Even if I have to stay there and suffer… that’s still where I belong, and someday, I hope to be able to fix everything,”
“Ivy…” Violet cried, looking at her innocent sister who had never harbor any responsibility
“But you attempted suicide,”
“It will never happen again. I feel like I am reborn stronger, and will really win this. I was rescued because my parents and sister didn’t want me to join them yet, and I’m going to respect that,”
“I agree with you on that. I will be on my way now,” having said that, he turned to leave.
“I didn’t get your name, sir… this will be the second time you will rescue me, we should at least get to exchange names,”
“I know, right? And if it happens the third time, we can both agree that it’s fate. I believe in three-meeting of fate,” he winked, and Violet knocked his head.
“Don’t even think about it!” Violet shouted, and Ivy smiled.
“I’m Charles,”
“Ivy,”
“I don’t like exchanging handshakes with ladies, so can we go for a hug instead?” he winked, and she gladly spread her arms, but Violet pulled Charles back.
“Don’t you dare!” she threatened.
“Mr. Charles… are you ok?”
“Yeah, I’m fine. But it’s Charles. There is an emergency, we will hug next time,” he winked, before hurrying out.
He met Maxwell and Ella on his way out, but he ignored them, heading straight to the elevator.

Ivy looked away the moment Maxwell and Ella entered her ward.
“If you want to dle, can’t you do it quietly like your sister and go rot in h£ll with her?!” Ella lashed.
“My sister can’t go to h£ll. I’m sure she won’t want to be in the same universe with you hereafter!”
“What did you say?”
“Ella, Ivy, that’s enough. Ivy, I made a deal with you, why can’t you just stick to that? must you pull all these strings, plotting suicide and calling for rescue?”
“What do you think, Maxwell? My sister might have signed all the Holts assets to you because she doesn’t know how ugly you are, but I’ll make sure I get it all back even if it means pulling any kind of strings,”
“You silly rascal!” Ella lashed, and slapped her.
“I’ll send you abroad for better treatment,” Maxwell said.
“I’m fine. I don’t need to go abroad,”
“That’s not in your place to decide!” Ella snapped.
“I can make decisions for myself, you can be my legal guardian here, but I’m an adult. I am not that 5-year-old child that my sister introduced you to!” she fired back.
“What’s giving you vigor? You think you are an adult because you are getting fǔcked by some rich boys?” Ella blurted.
“I don’t know what you are talking about, and I don’t care either,”
“Who is that guy that left earlier? What’s your relationship with him?” Maxwell asked.
“How is that any of your business?”
“Ivy, you can act carelessly all you want, but don’t get involved with such guy. Charles Hewlett is a renowned player, so avoid him for your own good,” Maxwell said, and Ivy chuckled.
“I wish I told my sister the same about you. You aren’t a renowned player, but a freaky traitor!” Ivy lashed, and Ella slapped her.
“The nerve of you to talk back!” Ella yelled.
“Are you scared of him? If you are, you should be scared of me too because you don’t know what I can do now that I’m acquitted with him. I am not scared of you!” she bluntly said, and Maxwell exhaled heavily.
“You will be discharged soon, so save your strength. Ella, let’s go,” with those parting words, Maxwell left the ward.
“I don’t know what’s running in that head of yours, but trust me, you can’t beat us. Your sister was smarter than you, but Maxwell and I played her all these years, so who do you think you are? Getting involved with a billionaire son and becoming his side piece won’t restore the Holts glory, so save your dignity and live quietly,” having said that, Ella left.
Ivy exhaled heavily after they left, and she could finally breathe properly. She found herself thinking about Charles and why Ella and Maxwell seem so worked up over him. He claimed to be her sister’s friend, and Ella have been her sister’s best friend all her life and she knows her sister’s other fiends, including Maxwell whom her sister never hide anything from
“Who could he be?” she thought.

Violet appeared in Charles room and heard water running from the bathroom, she sat down patiently waiting for him on the couch before he came out.
“What? I thought our deal was off? Why are you here again?” he grumbled, drying his hair.
“I’ll excuse you to get dressed,”
“Then I’ll remain this way so you would never return,” he teased, and she looked away.
“Are you always coming out of the bathroom with your wet hair?”
“No, I’m always coming out nak£d, but I was just cautious because I don’t want you to fall for me,” he winked.
“I’m not that small-minded to fall for you,”
“Really? Then why can’t you stand me?”
“Because I want to give you some privacy,”
“You’re a ghost, so act like one,” he said, and removed his towel which made her vanished immediately.
“She is small-minded,” he teased, and went to get dressed.
Violet returned later, and Charles chuckled.
“My body is more effective than that substance, I should have known that sooner,” he winked.
“Don’t be a pervert?”
“Pervert? That’s harsh. You are the one intruding my premises, you are the pervert,”
“I’m not a pervert,”
“Yes, you are,”
“How is your sister? Did those people did anything to her?”
“They are terrified because of you,”
“Me? I didn’t even have a conversation with them. The girl might be beautiful, but she isn’t my type,” he said, and winked at her.
“Gosh, you are really a player,”
“Thankfully you aren’t my type either,”
“Neither are you! I will never fall for you even while I was alive . I hate the guts of guys like you,”
“But here you are clinging to you,”
“So much talk,”
“Why did you fall for him? Your husband?”
“Why are you suddenly asking?”
“I’m just curious. He is not rich, neither handsome,” he grumbled, and Violet eyes widened.
“I disagree with the later,”
“You think he is handsome?!”
“Not anyone,”
“But back then you had bad eyes, that you can’t even tell what’s handsome, and what’s real,”
“Maxwell is the ugliest man to me now, but his physique shouldn’t be condemned,”
“You still think he is handsome,”
“Why are we discussing this?”
“Because I’m bored. I’m not usually indoors, but here I’m. Thanks to you, I had to cut ties with my friends, and find a secluded place to hangout alone because I have to explain how I teleported,”
“I’m really sorry about that,”
“Your apology won’t change anything, so just give it a rest. If you are really sorry, and want to apologize, then disappear from my sight completely,”
“You know I can’t do that,”
“Why?”
“Because we strike a deal, remember?”
“That mistress, stuff?”
“You have a good memory,”
“I’m out,”
“Out of the blues?”
“Dad was right, I’m still immature. Wearing a suit, and trying to fit in doesn’t mean I am matured. I can’t grow up overnight,”
“Your dad told you that?”
“I ran out of the hall in the middle of a conversation with Mr. Sauto. Mr. Sauto has been acquittance with the Harrison’s family for years. The Sauto’s and Harrison’s go way back. The Sautos are Japanese, they based in Japan and the Harrison’s were Americans that based here but that didn’t come between their alliance. My mother was almost betrothed to Mr. Sauto before she married my father. Because my father was her first love she said. I haven’t met Mr. Sauto for years, but he came all the way from Japan to meet me, and I ran out on him because I could see you. Now tell me, am I matured?” he concluded, and she looked away.
“I-…”
“If you are going to apologize again, save it. I can never live a normal life because I can see the likes of you. I’m cursed, that’s my flaw, that’s why I can never be matured,”
“It must have been really hard on you,”
“It has always been. I had to drop out of school and be homeschooled. Hanging out with my friends is the only way to escape my fate, but look what happened,”
“I’m sorry for everything, Charles. That happened to be the only thing I can say,”
“But it won’t change anything,”
“Then-…” she was saying when a message beeped into his phone.
“It’s Ivy,” he said, and Violet collected the phone immediately.
“Hey! What are you doing?”
She blocked Ivy’s handle, and erased all their chat history before she returned the phone to him.
“What’s that? What did you do?”
“Don’t even think of contacting her,”
“Hey! She only sent a friendly message, what if she just wants to thank me?”
“She already did. She has no reason to thank you. Never think of contacting her without my consent!”
“Hey!”
“What?”
“Gosh. Why am I even here with you?” he blurted, and went to get changed before leaving the house.
*
He got to the parking lot, and Mr. Feng walked up to him.
“Sir, I already got the report you asked for,”
“Get rid of it. I don’t want it anymore,”
“Is she gone?”
“She wants me away from her sister, and is always asking for my help with her. How does that make sense?” he grumbled.
“Sir?”
“The keys. I’m leaving,”
“Where to?”
“I don’t know. Maybe somewhere away, away from my friends, away from the ghost, and away from you,” he said, and collected the key before leaving.
**
Charles went to a quiet bar to drink in company of a wh0re, the alcohol might be strong, the woman might be sxxy but he felt a void inside, he felt like he was escaping something valuable and wasting his time there. That has been his regular routine, but he has never felt that way before.
He brought out a bunch of cash from his wallet and gave it to her before leaving. He thought of where he could go and found himself driving to a playground he always visit with his mother.
He sat alone on the seesaw, watching the few kids there play before he saw a young ghost wandering around in tears.
He looked away immediately to avoid eye contact with it when he sight a familiar figure seating alone in afar but he decide to ignore everyone and just fill his head with the moments he spent with his mother, until sun set and the children started leaving.
Some of them were picked up by their parents, and others went home alone remaining just him and the familiar lonely lady seating in afar.
He decide to leave later, and the lady seem to be leaving too. He was already close to her when thier gaze met, just the person he wish he would never encounter again, the ghost’s sister, Ivy.
“Why did you blocked me?” she blurted.
He didn’t expect that to be the first words they exchange.
He smiled sarcastically, and composed himself.
“Is this the three-meeting of fate?“ he said, and she scoffed.
“You aren’t my sister’s friend, who are you?”
“Oh, she is as persistent as her sister,” he thought.
“I, I think I introduced myself, I’m Charles,”
“I know. You are Charles Hewlett, the youngest son of the chairman of haven group, you are a third-generation elite-…”
“You got it wrong,”
“It’s all over the internet,”
“I’m the only real son, the other is a legal shit. People get it twisted,”
“I don’t care,”
“Sure, you don’t,”
“Who are you? You aren’t my sister’s friend, I confirmed the odd, and you aren’t a… dreamer either. So who are you? Why are you always showing up? Why did you lied that you are friends with my sister? Why did you suddenly showed up to rescue me the other day? How did you know I was going to take the overdose? How did you know my handle? Who the fûcking h£ll are you? How did you even know me?”
“Too many questions, but I only have an answer. Your sister told me,”
“When? In your dreams? Because you are friends with her and she showed up in your dream to tell you? Do you think I’m gullible to believe that? You aren’t even my sister’s friend as you claimed!”
“Why are you getting angry? Even if you doubt me, I never hurt you so why must I explain myself?”
“Because you lied to me, so you owe me the truth,”
“Why? It’s not my obligation to tell you anything,”
“I demand the truth,”
“Will you believe the truth?”
“What is the truth?”
“Will you believe me if I say I could see your sister? I never lied about knowing your sister, but I wasn’t friends with her. I knew her right after she passed away. Would you believe that? Will you believe me if I tell you I could see ghosts and your sister’s ghost told me all about you. That’s the fǔcking truth! Will you believe it?”
“What…”
“That’s the truth, but just as everyone, you won’t believe it. So what’s the point of telling you?” with that, he intend to leave when Violet appeared.
“What nonsense are you blabbering on?” she shouted, and he looked at her, and also Violet who was looking lost.
“The truth,” he muttered.
