Violet/Carolyn disengaged from the embrace, and touched her heart to feel her heartbeat.
“I’m alive again, I’m breathing again!” she shouted
“Of course you are,”
“Ivy, and you can see me as well. This is wonderful!” she exclaimed, and Ivy counted few steps away from her.
“Are… are you ok?” Ivy asked
“Ivy, can’t you recognize me? It’s me, Violet, your sister,”
“My sister? Carolyn, can you listen to yourself?”
“Ca-Ca-Carolyn?” Violet slurred, a bit confused.
“I have to go. Seems like I really don’t know you,” Ivy said, and intend to leave but Violet dragged her back.
“Ivy, wait,”
“Let me go!” she shouted, and forcefully snapped her hand away.
“She must be crazy,” she grumbled, and stopped an empty taxi.
Violet stared at the moving taxi in confusion, and tried to teleport to Charles room, but failed.
“What’s happening to me?” she thought in fear.
“If I’m alive again, that explains why I can’t teleport, but Ivy is supposed to recognize me… Carolyn? That girl from earlier, the one who can see me. Where is she? Why…” she grumbled, and started touching her face.
She ran to check herself in the glass of a car parked by the roadside, and her eyes widened in shock.
“What? What happened to me?!” she screamed, and those around looked at her.
“What do I do stuck in this body? Ivy don’t recognize me, and I can’t go to Charles,” she grumbled, and started trying to leave the body.
“How do I do it? I don’t even know how I got stuck in it,” she lament
She wandered around thinking of how to leave the body when she remembered that everything happened when she tried to stop Carolyn from jumping in front of a moving car, so she tried to jump in the front of a moving car, but she was too scared to dare it.
“I can’t. What if I dle again?” she grumbled in fear.
“I wonder how people manage to commit suiclde,” she thought.
After wandering around for a while, she sat on a bench by the roadside watching the passerby.
“It’s getting late, I’m a human now so I can’t stay up all night, I have to go home. Talking about going home…”
*
She stopped a taxi and found herself giving it the adress of her house, Maxwell’s house.
She went in, and a security guard approached her.
“May I ask if you are lost?” he asked rudely, and she rolled her eyes.
“I see that that bltch hired a new security guard,”
“What did you say?”
“Nothing. What’s the use in exchanging words with you?”
“If you don’t leave, miss, I’ll call the police for intrusion, so save yourself and leave now, while I’m being nice,”
“You aren’t being nice,”
“Oh, seems like you love the hard way “
“I’m going to leave, there is nothing I can do in this body anyways. I’m just stuck in a useful body,”
“Pardon?”
A car drove in, and the security started to panic.
“Please leave now,” he grumbled.
Maxwell alighted from the car, and Violet made a fist, trying so hard not to run to him and punch him.
“Who is that?” Maxwell asked, and Ella came down as well.
“Who is that bltch?” Ella snapped, approaching her.
“I think she got lost, madam,”
“Got lost? So why are you having a conversation with her?” Ella lashed.
“I’m not lost!” Violet blurted, and they all looked at her.
“Who are you?” Maxwell wsled.
“I’m someone who knows the both of you, but you can’t ever imagine that in your wild memories. Enjoy it while it last, Max. Murders don’t only get punished in heaven, there is also judgement on earth!” having said that, she left.
“Who is she? What nonsense is all that?” Ella snapped.
“She… Violet…” Maxwell slurred.
“Maxwell! Have you lost your mind? And you, you’re fired!”
“Madam, I don’t know her, I really don’t,” the security guard pleaded.
**
Violet ran her fingers through her hair after she left. She wandered around thinking of where to go, then she decide to search through Carolyn’s bag if she could find any clue.
She opened the bag and saw a small jotter like a diary.
“Does she keeps diary? She must be really depressed,” she thought, and opened it.
The middle page flipped opened, and she reed the contempt there.
📝*moving out of the studio apartment…* was written there.
“This seems more like a note not a diary,” Violet thought, and started reading it.
Carolyn takes notes of all the studio apartments she lives and moved from, there she was able to find the address of her current location.
“Wow. How can she have moved from more than 20 apartments?” Violet gasped, and stopped a taxi to the apartment.
She got to the studio apartment, and looked up at the tall building.
“No wonder she had to write down her room number, anyone could get lost here,” she thought.
She find her way to the elevator, and was startled to see that it’s crossed to be under maintenance.
“What? So how do I get to the 17th floor?” she almost shouted.
“Now I see why she wanted to commit suicide, using the stairs to the 17th floor is suicide itself,” she grumbled, and found her way to the stairs.
After climbing tirelessly, she finally got to the 17th floor with trembling legs, and she saw people coming out of the elevator.
“What? A second elevator…. I should have thought about that. Why can’t I think properly in this body?” she grumbled, and started having troubles with the passcode to the apartment.
Luck wasn’t on her side with all the digits she tried, so she took Carolyn’s phone to check the important date in her reminder, thanks to biometrics she was able to access the phone.
“‘Grandma’s birthday’. Yes. This could be it,” she thought, inputting the code, and the door opened.
“That was neat,” she thought, all smiles and the few people passing by gave her a weird look.
“Hi,” she managed to wave, and they looked away immediately.
“What have gotten into her?” they grumbled, as they found their way to thier apartment.
“She must be a loner, she seems like one,” Violet muttered, before going in.
She tried to switch on the lightbulb, but it didn’t come on, so she gasped wondering if it was a blank out but she went out to see lights by the hallway.
“Oh, my. The electricity is faulty,” she grumbled, and started thinking of who to ask for help.
She use the elevator to the ground floor where she saw people earlier, but it was already empty. She returned to the elevator and saw a signal there.
“What? The elevator doesn’t work once it’s past 11?” her eyes widened, and she looked at the stairway.
“I really need to get out of this body quickly before I actually dle,” she almost cried.
Her legs trembled when she got to the 17th floor, and was glad to see a young lad standing by the hallway.
“Excuse me,” she called out, and he looked at her in shock.
“Yes?”
“Oh, I don’t know if you are knowledgeable about electricity, but the electricity in my apartment cut off, can you help me check it out?”
“Me?” he gestured, pointing at himself.
“Yes, you. Is there anyone else here? Can you see ghosts?”
“Ghosts?”
“Oh, that must have frightened you,”
“Why are you asking me about your light? I heard that there was never electricity in your apartment, and you didn’t fix it. Aren’t you the resident in that apartment?” he asked, pointing at Carolyn’s apartment, and she nodded.
“Oh…” she exclaimed.
“What’s gotten into her? She seems cheerful. Why is she even talking to me?” he murmured, before leaving.
Violet entered the apartment and turned on a lamp.
“I wonder what kind of life you are living,” she thought, and decide to take a bath.
Going to the bathroom, she realized that the water wasn’t working either.
“What kind of live is this girl living?” she screamed.
She washed up with the cold water from a reservoir. She was unable to heat up the water because she couldn’t use the electric heater, and the house doesn’t seem to have any gas to cook.
“I never suffered this much even as a ghost,” she grumbled, sadly.
She finally had the time to look around after recovering from the cold bath. The room is empty with nothing to look at expect the calendar hanging on the wall, and a bag of clothes.
She went to the calendar and looked at the date circled.
“Moving out date,” she thought, reading what was written there when she heard a loud banging at the door.
“Who is there? Do you want to knock door the door?!” she yelled, and went to get the door, startled to see two giant men accompanied by a normal looking man.
“Oh… does she have debtors?” she grumbled, wondering how anyone could live such a miserable life.
*
She dragged the only luggage Carolyn had and found her way to a motel.
“Of all days that her rent should be out, why must it be today? Is that why she wanted to commit suicide? Because she couldn’t afford rent,” she thought.
She checked in a room and realized that she was already out of money.
“This is the best way to begin my life as a human. Starting from the scratch,” she grumbled, and laid flat on the bed.
“Just why? Why do I have to get stuck in this body? Whyyyyyyyy?” she screamed, and broke down in tears.
**
**
Ivy got to school the following day, and bumped into someone on her way in.
“Oh, I’m sorry,” she muttered, and looked up
To see a gentleman, Dylan.
“Miss… Ivy?”
“Do I know you?”
“Yeah, you’re miss Ivy. I’m Dylan, Dylan Hewlett,”
“Hewlett? You’re that legal…— oh, I mean you’re a Hewlett, I see. I have to go now,” she said, and intend to leave but he held her back.
“You seems to know me quiet well,”
“Oh, not really. I know about the Hewlett, that’s all,”
“Can I have a minute?”
“Oh… but I have a class now,”
“I promise not to take much of your time,” he said, and she looked at him.
**
**
Violet slept soundly and woke up late in the morning when a bug bite her.
“Oh, that hurt, that hurt,” she whimpered, and started searching for the bug to klll it.
She went to the bathroom to wash up later and changed into a comfortable outfit.
“I really can’t do this, I really can’t,” she cried.
*
She packed her bag and left the motel, wandering around in the street with her luggage. Her stomach grumbled when she passed by a restaurant, and her mouth get watery as she started getting hungry.
“She should have some money saved up in her account,” she thought, and started looking for her card.
She smiled happily when she found it, and went to the machine, using the same pin she used to unlock the door.
“Gosh, she is quite broke as expected,” she grumbled, and withdraw a little amount to get breakfast.
After eating to her heart contempt, she started thinking about what she can do in her new body.
Everything seems to be falling in place with Mr. Marson joining them in thier fight, but if she suddenly loss contact with Charles, and stuck in a helpless body, everything she has worked so hard for since she became a ghost would be in vain.
“I have to do something, there has to be a way, there has to be something I can do in this body,” she thought, and stood up in determination.
She boarded a taxi to Charles house, and met Mr. Feng in the compound.
“Mr. Feng,” she called out, and he looked at her.
“Who are you?” he blurted.
“Oh, ermm… I’m, I’m Violet. A friend of Charles,” she said, and he started checking her out.
“Of all body to get stuck in, must it be this cheesy body?” she grumbled, biting her lips.
“Please leave, I don’t know you,”
“I know you don’t, I don’t expect you to know me but I know you well. You’re Charles personal butler, I know you,”
“Everyone knows that, miss! Leave! I don’t know what you want from my master, but leave. I know all his friends, but I don’t know you, and I don’t think he can ever know you,”
“Good for you for knowing all his friends,” she grumbled.
“Mr. Feng, there is more to my identity than you can see. There is a very wild unbelievable story behind my identity, you can’t believe me, but Charles will. I hope he does,” she said, and laughed sarcastically.
“You must be a really persistent one,”
“Yes, Charles say that to me a lot. Seem like you know have a clue of who I am,”
“She must be cr@zy, such young lady,” Mr. Feng grumbled, and she smiled.
“You’ve just three seconds to leave, or I call the security to match you to a psychiatric hospital, you will find your kind there,”
“What? Psychiatric what?” she shouted. “Like being stuck in the useless body isn’t hard enough, do I have to end my life in a psychiatric hospital?” she thought with widened eyes.
“Noooo…” she screamed, and he looked at her.
“I’ll leave,” she muttered, smiling brightly.
“You should,” he said, gesturing her away.
“I’ll, I will leave after I have a word with Charles,” she said, and threw her luggage at him, running in.
“Hey, stop right there!” he shouted, running after her.
“The least this body could be is to be weak, why can’t I run fasterrrrrr…” she almost cried, until Mr. Feng caught her, and carried her in his shoulder.
“Let me go! I have to talk to Charles! Let me gooooo!” she screamed, hitting Mr. Feng, until Charles came out.
“What’s going on here?” he asked, and Mr. Feng looked at him.
Violet took advantage of that, and jumped off Mr. Feng arms.
“Charles, I’m glad that you came out,”
“Who are you?”
“Charles, it’s me, Violet. I know it’s unbelievable but somehow I was able to possess this human body, it’s me, Violet, you have to believe me,”
“What? What nonsense?”
“Sir, I’ll take her out,”
“You should,” he said, and Mr. Feng went to drag her.
“Charles it’s really me, Violet! Your mistress!” she shouted, and he looked at her.
“Mistress…”
“Charles, it’s me, Violet, Violet Holt,”
“Vee…” he muttered, checking her out.
