Charles prepared for his first day at work, and Mr. Feng helped him knot his tie properly.

His father offered him the director position at the gallery as expected, and he accepted it against Mr. Feng’s wish but he chose to believe in Violet.
.
“Sir, are you sure about this?” Mr. Feng asked.

“It’s already a done deal,” he muttered, and Mr. Feng nodded.

“Let’s go. The car is ready,” Mr. Feng said, and he nodded.
*
Charles left the house accompanied by violet and Jayden, he arrived at tha gallery and was introduced to all the staffs before heading to his office.

“This will be my first office “ he said, looking around.

“Quite mighty for a first office. My first office was my little library when I was in high school,” Violet said, and they all chuckled.

“Mine was my bedside,” Jayden added

“Well… I’m different from the both of you, I’m Charles Hewlett…” he was saying, and they both teleported away, “What? Where did they go?” he grumbled.

Ivy arrived at school with Carolyn and wasn’t surprised to see Jon by the doorway of the hall she was having class.

“The nerve of him,” Carolyn grumbled, aiming at him but Ivy held her back.

“Ivy, please let’s talk,”

“Carolyn, I’ll follow,” Ivy said.

“Are you sure about this?” Carolyn asked, and she nodded.
*
They went to a more private place to talk, and she exhaled heavily.

“I only have ten minutes, so you better start talking,” she said, and a timer.

“It was all revenge from the start. Bryan told me about you, and I vowed to get back at you. The plan was for you to fall for me, and I’ll break your heart two times worse. That was the revenge,” he said, and Ivy shot him a glare.

“That explained why you made up those stories to get me regardless,”

“Ivy, but I didn’t expect to fall for you in the process. It all started as revenge, but that ended a long time ago. I love you, Ivy, I never lied about that,”

“I know. You might’ve lied about so many things even when I gave you a chance to say the truth, you still chose to hold some things back,”

“Ivy, I was wrong. I thought that keeping that away from you was for the best, I didn’t want to complicate things after so many lies,”

“But you ended up complicating it even more,”

“Ivy, you said you believed that I love you,”

“I do,”

“Then… will you let this slide?”

“Yes,” she said, and he looked at her, “Instead of being angry at you, I want to follow my heart as well. I didn’t consider my feelings before I accepted yours back then, you were also aware of that. I accepted you because I believe we both had a scar that we can heal from together but I was wrong. Relationship aren’t supposed to work that way. I thought I could develop feelings for you in the process but all you have ever done was lie. So, let’s just end it now. I know your feelings are genuine, but I don’t feel the same,”

“Ivy…”

“Let’s say we broke up on good terms and w me can be friends if you want it. It’s your choice,”

“Why are you suddenly so blunt?” he asked, and she looked at him.

“I don’t follow,”

“You like someone else, and you never even try to hide it. That’s why you came up with this conclusion, that’s why you refuse to get mad. You don’t want us to make up even though you know that my feelings are sincere,”

“Are you in the right state to accuse me of anything?”

“I know that you didn’t feel the same when it started… I was aware from the start even though I asked you to consider your feelings before we started, I knew there was nothing there. It has always been him?”

“What nonsense… what “him”? Jon, have you completely lost it? Do you want us to breakup on bad terms?”

“It’s that Charles guy, he is the one you liked from the start,”

“What…” she strutted, her voice fading away.

“You see? You can’t even deny it. You like him and it was always obvious whenever you talk about him even the last meeting… gosh, seriously, Ivy, you aren’t even denying it,”

“So, what?” she blurted, and his eyes widened.

“So, what?”

“What if I like him, what’s it to you? I clearly broke up with you, and it’s your fault. You lied go me about so many things and I’m fed up. You can’t accuse me with a baseless accusation,”

“But he is with Carolyn,”

“How is that your business?”

“Goodness, Ivy, are you going to like a man that has feelings for someone else?”

“So, do you advise me to be with a man that all he has ever done was lie?”

“Ivy,”

“Your time is up. I’m running large for class,” with those parting words, she left.

Ella hasn’t been herself since she visited her parents. She might have achieved everything she worked so hard for but it doesn’t seem like a win. Her plans from the get-go was to get rid of the Holts and restore her family’s name, but it felt like there was never anything to restore.

The day was the first hearing of Maxwell and Mr. Josh and she was already prepared for the expected questions and she answered them all before leaving the court.

She returned to her office and couldn’t concentrate on anything, she kept thinking about her mother’s reaction and couldn’t stop wondering why her mother was so against her win.

“I hate this!” she yelled, and pushed everything on her desk away.
**
**
Mr. Marson was busy in his office trying to sort out some case. He attended the hearing and the result already proves that Maxwell and Mr. Josh will be indicted for all their crimes with no evidence to point at Ella. Ella managed to turn all their testimony around and left after the hearing.

He thought of other ways that they could get to her but there was nothing so he decided to devote his life to other cases while thinking of a way to go about the complicated one.

He was preoccupied with work when his paralegal informed him of Carolyn’s presence, and he put what he was working on aside to attend to her.

“Mr. Marson, I apologized for coming unexpectedly,” Carolyn/Violet said.

“Ms. Holt…” he slurred.

“Yeah, it’s me,”

“Oh, Violet. Take a seat,”

She sat down and he served her a mug of coffee.

“Did you attend the hearing?” he asked, and she shook her

“I couldn’t. I already know what the outcome wili be,”

“I don’t want to say this bluntly, but there is no other way to say it. It might really be difficult to apprehend Ella,”

“I know. I’m curious about something else,”

“What? Anything,”

“Back then, when the Blake went bankrupt, why did my parents abandoned them?”

“Ms. Holt…”

“I have been following Ella around until recently. She visited her parents by the countryside, and I heard her mother’s part of the story. Why did dad abandoned his best friend in the time they needed him most? I have been thinking a lot since I heard that story, I couldn’t share it with anyone and I can’t even get an explanation from myself so I can only ask you. Why? Uncle Tim was more than just a friend, he was my godfather and he and dad established theirs company together at the same time, celebrate all sort of event together, but why? Why did he abandoned them when they needed him most? Why did he let the Blakes go under when he could have done something about it?”

“Are you trying to justify Ella’s actions?”

“No. There is no justification for what she did to me, but I demand the truth. It’s not like my parents to abandon others during the time they needed them most. That was the parents I knew, but… why? Just why?”

“Your parents did nothing wrong. Your father withdrew his partnership from a failing company, that’s what you heard, that’s what Ella was told, because that’s what everyone believed but there is always something hidden behind that no one wants to know because it won’t change anything,”

“What? What is it? I want to know everything. I want to know why my parents abandoned them and stir all these up!”

“Nothing was your parent’s fault. Ella chose this because she knows nothing,”

“Then tell me what it is that I don’t know!” she snapped, and Mr. Marson inhaled deeply.
