Carolyn was seated in her room alone doing nothing in particular when she heard a knock on the door.
“Come in,” she muttered, and Charles opened the door.
“Can I get a minute?” he asked, and she nodded.
She followed him to the living room, and he served her a glass of wine.
“I don’t drink,” she muttered.
“No. We should drink something while we talk, that’s the rule of life,”
“I don’t take alcohol,”
“Just a sip. I’m not trying to make you drunk. Violet and Jayden are away spying on Ella and the other, while our prisoner… don’t let us even go there. So, let’s just say I’m bored,”
“What do you really want to discuss?”
“My future. I know you saw something that you don’t want to tell me, and I won’t force you. But in that future… the choices I made now, did I regretted it?”
“No,”
“At least you admit that you saw something that you’re holding back, I won’t ask you what you saw or your reasons for holding back, I’m just curious because I suddenly decide to work with my dad, I never gave that a thought before but given the circumstances, that could be for the best, but it kept bothering me,”
“I believe it’s the best decision, if my opinion matters,”
“I’m just curious. If you see others future, you must be seeing yours too. Did you see yourself here years ago when you check your future?”
“I can’t see my own future,”
“Oh… that’s bad,” he exclaimed, “I heard that you remained in same class for three years… if I may ask, is there a particular reason for that?”
“Not really. I just love to be around people so I’ll be less around ghosts, and if I graduate, I don’t where else I can be in the midst of people,”
“Seeing ghosts is really scary, I can testify to that. Thanks to Mr. Feng, I was able to come this far but I don’t regret seeing them. I saw able to see my mum, and now Vee,”
“Charles, I know I’m not in the position to say this, but—“ she was saying, but he cut in.
“You’re also going to warn me about Vee, she is a ghost and I’m a human, but I care less. I love her, and I’ll be true to myself even if I can’t express my affection in the same way as others, I’ll keep helping her and watch her cross successfully to afterlife after filling her vengeance,” he said, and noticed that Carolyn was focused somewhere.
He turned to the direction and saw Violet and Jayden.
“You guys are back early,” Charles said, and Violet nodded.
“Did you find anything?” Carolyn asked.
“Nothing really. Jayden was able to possess Mr. Josh and scanned everywhere, but there was nothing,” Violet said.
“Don’t worry, Vee, we’re going to get evidence somehow,” Charles assured, and she nodded.

Charles returned to his room later trying to study some files that Mr. Feng sent him. He did that all night till he fell asleep.
After he freshened up the following morning, he heard a knock on the door and summoned whoever it was in, with thoughts that it was Mr. Feng but he was surprised to see Carolyn.
“Car— Vee ?” he called, and she smiled.
“How can you guess? Jayden was confused,”
“Jayden and I are two different people, never compare us,”
“Yeah, he is a ghost and you’re a human,”
“Apart from that, there are other things that… you know,” he winked.
“As expected from you,” she teased.
“Why’re you in there? I mean… why did you possess her body?”
“Because I want us to go somewhere together and there will be a lot of people around,”
“Glad to see that you suddenly cared about that,” he teased, and she chuckled.
She input their destination in his car and he gave her a weird look, wondering why they were going there.
They arrived at the crowed amusement park and he looked at her.
“Why’re we here?” he asked.
“Obviously, to have fun,” she giggled and he rolled his eyes.
“Why? Out of the blues,”
“I suddenly love to. It would help me cheer up,” she said, and he sighed.
“I would’ve reserved the place. Let’s go somewhere else, I know a better park, I’ll inform Mr Feng to reserve it for us,”
“No. I love this place, and it’s better with others around,” she said, dragging him in.
They both had fun together at the park and they later went to the haunted house.
“Do you think ghosts will really be there?” Violet asked, and Charles flinched in fear, “What? Are you scared?” she teased.
“What? What’s fun to see? Evil spirits can actually be there,” he whined, and she laughed.
She left the haunted house spot and went to ride a mad swing scaring life out of Charles.
They had fun there for a while and went to the beach to play around before she took him to a place that was nice for stargazing.
“The stars are so beautiful tonight,” Violet said, and Charles looked at her.
“Is this a coincidence? Just what you want to do to make you feel better?”Charles asked, and she looked at him.
“What do you think? Do you have any history with this place?”
“Not really, it’s just…”
“Happy birthday, Charles,” she said, and he looked at her.
“Vee… how…”
“Mr. Feng was trying to dispose the presents your father sent so I sent Carolyn to ask him and he also told us the story behind it,”
“I was supposed to go stargazing on my birthday with my mum before she vanished unplanned, an evil spirt attacked her,”
“He said so, but that doesn’t mean you should stop regarding your birthdays,”
“Birthdays is just another day with no loved ones to celebrate with. Dad’s secretary is bent to sending me presents every year like a kid and it’s always upsetting so I ask Mr. Feng never to present those gifts to me again, I just stop regarding my birthday all together,”
“You should always regard your special day, you’re a year older today,”
“Yes. I think it’s starting to feel like a special day because you’re with me,”
“Charles…”
“If you only care about your revenge and no other feelings, why do you care about my birthday?” he asked, and she looked at him.
“This is Carolyn’s body, Charles, without her I’m just a ghost that belong to—“ she was saying but he cut her off with a kiss, and she kissed back before he pulled away.
“Just like that, just as you kissed back, you aren’t a ghost to me, neither are you Carolyn, you’re Violet, allow me love you the way I can,” he said, and pecked her lips.
“This isn’t right, Charles. We are breaking the rules of nature, and everything…” she grumbled.
“Let’s set our own rules. Who cares about the rule of nature? What rule is Ella abiding by and she has been pulling a lot of strings on us. There is no such things as rule,” he said, and she looked away.
“Let’s go, Charles, it’s getting late,” she muttered, and he nodded.
**
Charles tossed and turned on his bed trying to get his head off the kiss but he couldn’t. His first kiss didn’t get him that way so he couldn’t understand the way he was feeling.
“What’s that? It’s just a kiss Charles,” he thought, Is it a ghost kiss or It was Carolyn?” another thought came to his mind, and he started turning on his bed, “No, I can’t do this,” he grumbled.

Dylan (Charles brother) was working on his computer and he couldn’t stop sighing, he checked the time for the fourth time and round up what he was doing, and went to his father’s office to report some things to him.
“Charles will resume next month, I told you to do something to distract him but here we’re, we couldn’t even stop him,” Mr. Hewlett said.
“Dad, I tried. I got in contact with his friends, puli some strings to bring his crush to town but Charles seems determined. He is a different person entirely, and she could only be the reasons,” he said, and dropped a picture on Mr. Hewlett’s desk.
“Who’s she?”
“Carolyn. She is his new girlfriend, and currently staying with him,”
“This is another girl,”
“I was mistaken the last time, but this one could be the problem. Charles stopped regarding his birthday years ago but they spent all day together yesterday,”
“So, now you are trying to tell me that Charles suddenly became serious because of this woman here? Can you listen to yourself? Who’s she anyways?”
“Just an ordinary college student. I will look into her,”
“Forget it,”
“Sir?”
“You heard me. We can’t change Charles mind he seems determined so let’s just leave him,”
“Dad, but there is no vacant position that we can trust him with,”
“He don’t have to be in the HQ, send him to the gallery,”
“The gallery? But we are contemplating on shutting it down,”
“That’s why we should send him there. We will shut it down with him as the director,”
“Oh…”
“He will regret joining the company and the shareholder won’t trust him. That’s our shield to dispose him completely. He should stick to what he knows best, he should just continue having fun and leave the work to us,”
“You’re right, dad. I’ll make arrangements, I’ll transfer all the competent staffs there away and process his resumption,”
“You should,” Mr. Hewlett smirked.

Mr. Marson was busy in his office scanning every document that could relate to the warehouse that Violet was held hostage, he has been doing that all day leaving some work behind.
He went online to different platforms searching for posts that relates to that area when he finally found a photographer’s post from a year ago, capturing the sky from that area, and a glimpse of the pole was visible there.
He checked the location, and after confirming it he exhaled heavily and sent the photographer a message before he realized that he was last active a year ago.
“This could be it, this picture was uploaded few days before the incident, and the photographer went AWOL right after. Charles should be aware of this,” he thought, and sent all the details to Charles.

Charles woke up the following day and saw Mr. Marson’s messages, he went to freshen up and hurried out of room to share the news with her.
“Does that mean that the photographer might know something?” Violet asked.
“Mr. Marson only has assumptions, it’s left for us to find out. Where is Jayden?”
“Here I am,” they heard Jayden said from behind, “um glad to see that you personally requested for me,” he said, and Charles scoffed.
“If I had a choice—“ Charles was saying but Jayden cut in.
“You would’ve sent me away and ask Mr. Feng to bring those talisman or whatsoever, that’s not news to me,” Jayden said, and Charles scoffed.
“That’s not it. If it’s was up to me, I would’ve pull on the strings alone!” he snapped, and Jayden chuckled.
Jayden wanted to reply him but Violet cut in.
“Jayden, Mr. Marson sent this,” Violet said, and narrate everything to him.
“JD photos,” Jayden grumbled, repeating the name of the photographer.
“Do you know him?” Violet asked.
“He was my brother from the orphanage, my friend to be precise,” he muttered, and they both looked at him.
