Amber waited for him, but he wasn’t coming out of the restroom. So she went to the restroom herself. On getting there, she heard Mõ@ns and groans coming from the restroom.
She paused and called his number, at first he didn’t pick up. She lady he was with was telling him to pick up the call, but he turned deaf ear.
Amber called him, so the second time and he picked up. “Hello, I’m sorry, I left without telling you. I’m busy right now, I will call you later.” He groaned and hang up.
“God, I h@të this and you know it. I fúçking h@të this.” She muttered and left the restroom.
She paid for it and left the restaurant. She got home and met her mom, in the living room watching a movie on African magic.
“My dear, you’re back. Did he come with you?” Helen asked, looking at her. Amber only sighed softly as she recall what happened.
“Were you expecting him to bring me home?” She questioned, with a fixed gaze. “Yes..” She replied, Amber rolled her eyes.
“Oh, well I went with my car. I don’t need him to bring me home.” She replied and headed to the stairs.
“You’re not going to talk about it, about him?. Don’t you like him?” Helen asked.
“Mom, it’s late. I need rest, we will talk about it tomorrow.” She replied and walked, tiredly.
“This one she’s talking about rest. I just hope things went well, oh God please have mercy on her.” Helen said and sighed softly, she continued watching the movie.

Amber went to her room, throwing her bag and phone on the bed. She fell on the bed, staring at the ceiling and also thinking about what happened in the restroom.
“Men will always be men, they can never change. Imagine having sëx with a waitress in the restroom.
That’s to show how cheap they are, claiming all wise. Meanwhile they’re fools.” She said.
“That’s the kind of man, mom wants me to get along with. God forbid, I rather stay single and die. I can’t let history, repeat itself again, all in the name of marriage.” She said to herself.
She removed her clothes and freshen up. She came out of the washroom and put on her night wear, been a workaholic. She picked up her laptop and get busy, she slept off while operating the laptop.
Her mom came in and saw her sleeping, she removed the laptop and lay her properly on the bed.
“You’re such a sweet and hard working lady. I pray that you will get a better man, that will love, care and cherish you. You’re so stubborn.” She mumbled, she stayed up to five minutes before leaving the room.
Next morning
Helen and the cook was in the kitchen, cooking. Derrick walked in and greeted her and the cook.
“How are you doing?” Helen asked. “I’m cool, I was studying all night.”
“Of course that what you should be doing.” Amber replied from behind and smiled, they turned staring at her.
“Good morning, sweet mom.” She greeted and also greet the cook. “Good morning, how was your night?”
“Lovely and yours.” She replied. “Awesome..” She mumbled and glance at her. “We will talk about it later.” Amber mumbled, she knew will want to bring up the topic about last night.
“Talk about what, Mom?” Derrick asked, staring at both mother and daughter.
“It’s about Amber.” She mumbled. “The food is ready.” Helen said, they went to the dinning while the meal were dished out by the cook. After dishing the food, the cook left. They began eating, Derrick brought up the talk again, Amber gave him a deadly stare, he chuckled.
“So how was it? Your date?”
“Mom, that man is a freak. I caught him having sëx with a waitress in the restroom.”
“Gosh, that’s disgusting.” Her brother said, immediately. “How could he do such a thing? He looks so innocent.”.
“Exactly mom, I was so disappointed in him.” She mumbled and sip water from the cup. “I’m sorry, I thought he was a good guy.” She mumbled and sighed in disbelief.
“It’s okay, mom. Thank goodness, I can’t have my sister marry someone like that. I suggest you take your time and I believe a better man is out there.”
“They are so many men, it’s difficult to find a better man. I don’t want to rush into marriage, like that. Not after knowing what Adeleke did to mom and us.” She mumbled.
Helen sighed softly, “Please eat your meal, it’s getting cold.” She mumbled and they started eating.
“Aren’t you going to work, today?'” Her brother asked, staring at her because she isn’t dressed up for work.
“Seems like you don’t know your sister again. If course, she’s going to work. Probably want to fry plantain before leaving.” Her mom teased her.
Derrick chuckled, so did Amber. “Mom..seriously.” Amber mumbled, smiling.

Derrick left the house and Amber headed to work. Her mom, went to the supermarket.
But she didn’t stay longer, she returned back to the house.
HOURS LATER
Amber was in a meeting when she got a call from an unknown number. She excuse herself and picked the call.
“Hello, who’s this?” She asked, confused.
“My name is doctor Sam, your mom was admitted to the hospital.” He dropped the bombshell.
“What? How? Where? I hope she is okay?” She throws questions at him. “Where’s the hospital located?” She asked and he told her, she quickly returned back to room and apologized, she explained to them what happened. She left.
“Are you sure, that you can drive yourself to the hospital?” Kelly asked. “Yes, I can.” She replied. “Please get the files and other docvments to the house.” She added and drove out.
“Oh God, please keep her safe.”
While driving on the road, she didn’t notice that someone was crossing the road, she almost hit him. She came out of the car and apologized to him.
“Are you okay? Are you hurt? I’m sorry, I’m really sorry. Please.” She stuttered, people already gathering.
“Bro, are you okay?” A female voice said, Amber turned and looked at her and then the young guy.
“Don’t worry, please you can leave I will take care of him. He’s my brother.” She said.
“Please, I’m sorry I was rushing to the hospital. Please call me if the doctor says anything about the bill.” Amber rushed the words and handed the complimentary card to her.
She rushed to her car and drove off, her heart was bearing faster, a lot of things was going thru her mind.
“How could I be so careless?” She questioned herself.
Thirty minutes later, she arrived at the hospital she called the doctor’s number, he picked up and directed her to the ward.
She ended the call and her brother’s call comes in.”Hello, Mide I have been calling your number. Mom is at the hospital.”
“Yeah, I know. I’m in the hospital.” She replied and hung up. She went to the ward the doctor directed her. She saw her mom lying on the hospital bed, she fell on her knees.
“Mide, please stand up.” Her brother said, trying to get her up. “How did this happen?”
“I don’t know, I got a call from the doctor. I was writing my exams when the call came in.”
“Why should it be now? What did the doctor said about her health?” She asked, still kneeing on the floor.
“Miss Amber, right?” The doctor asked, as he walked in. “Yes, How’s my mom doing?” She asked, wiping her tears.
“I just want you to take it easy, okay. By the grace of God everything will be fine, your mom will be fine. Please come with me.” He said with a little smile.
“Alright.” She mumbled. “I’ll be right back, please don’t go anywhere. Stay with mom.”

DOCTOR’S OFFICE
“How’s she?”
“Well, she will be fine.” Doctor Sam replied. “Okay, but what really happened to her?”
“You know she has high blood pressure and unfortunately it becomes high again. But it’s manageable for now..”
“What do you mean, doctor? Does it mean it will still rise again? Like I understand that, it’s incurable.”
“What do we do? Especially me.”
“Miss Amber, Mrs Adeleke has been through a lot of stress and right now she’s in her 50’s she needs something that will make her happy. Not something stressful, not something that will make her think about her past. If you know what is right, please do it. She needs y’all right now.” Doctor Sam said.
“Alright, doctor. But I hope she’s okay now. Like for now?” She asked. He smiled and nodded slowly.
“Alright, thank you.” She mumbled and left the doctor’s office. She went back to the ward, staring at her.
Suddenly she opened her eyes, she moved closer to her. “How are you feeling?” She asked, touching her.
She chuckled on her poor performance, while speaking her father’s language. “I’m fine, your Yoruba is cool.”
“Uhm mom you know hers isn’t pure, she still learning.”
“Must you say it to my face?”
Like you said, she’s till learning. She will be perfect soon.” Helen replied, they smiled.
“Mom, how did this happened? Because am sure that you were okay this morning. How come you were rushed to the hospital?”
“I can’t really say, how it happened. But all I know that am fine now, and you don’t have to worry about anything.”
But she couldn’t get her mind off, what the doctor said. She sighed softly and glance at her brother.
“How was your examination?” Amber asked. “Fine, fine. Just hoping for a good result.”
“Sure you will get one.” She replied.
