Sage tossed and turned on his bed trying sleep , but remembering how Paulina left with the MASS as school kept bothering him.
He removed his blanket, s d stepped out to the bar to drink when his father joined him.
“Having problems, young man?” His father asked, patting his back.
“She was so friendly to them, she acted natural like they have been friends since ages. She even cracked jokes with him, she was never that way with me.” He muttered, emptying his glass of wine.
“Gosh… that’s the most expensive wine here, I can’t believe you opened it while sulking. I paid a fortune to get that.” His father said, and poured himself a glass. “But I believe even this billon dollar wine, can’t solve your problems.”
“Dad, what’s wrong with me? Why can’t she hit me like she hit him? Why can’t she tease me as well? Why can’t she laugh that hard with me?” He cried.
“Bad timing. Your mum should’ve been the one here instead. We both know I’m bad with words.”
“Am I that bad?”
“No, no, not you, but me.”
“So I take after you.”
“What? Never! You and Clara should take after your mother. I managed to be the chairman because I had no rival, and I’ve been struggling a lot to ensure the company continues to grow. I suck at a lot of things, son. I can’t even list them.”
“Dad… we are just the same. She is more comfortable with them than with me.” He cried.
“No, son. You shouldn’t be like me. Please, don’t be like me. The future of the Greenwoods’ family relies on you.”
“I’m sorry, dad… but I’m already lacking. She even left with them like we never existed.”
“Son, there is still hope for you, you can still be a better person.”
“Don’t have any expectations from me, dad… I’m not just the one… mum was right after all, I might not be the one.”
“Son, what’s the motto your grandfather taught you.”
“Never give up, each day is a new beginning.”
“That’s my boy. I’m so incapable that I alway whine over a lot of things, I don’t even use that motto anymore.” His father whined, snd emptied his glass of wine.
“Dad… what do I do?”
“I don’t know, son. Your incapable father is lost. That’s why I married your mother to spare my children from my incapable gene. Do you know how much I struggled to get your grandfather’s blessing’s when I wanted to marry your mother? Despite coming from a good family, despite having a good reputation, your grandfather was still against us because he saw this day coming. Thinking about it gives me the creeps… opss…”
“I really like her, dad. What do I do?” He cried, and his father embraced him.
“I wish I could help you as your father, but I’m equally lost. I’m having some problems right now, and I wish your mother could just put away what she is doing and give me a listening ear.”
“What’s going on here?” His mother shouted, from behind then father and son composed themselves immediately.
“Mum, shouod I give up?” Sage muttered, and his father gestured his mother to speak to him.
“Son, it’s late. Your problems can only be solved when your head is clear. Let’s talk it out tomorrow.” She said, and he nodded before leaving.
“Just like that?” Mr. Greenwood gasped, and his wife shook her head in disbelief.

Paulina worked on the club activities all night until she came up with interesting ideas, so she happily went to school with intention of sharing it with them later. Austin was the first she saw alighting from his car, and she contemplated before waving at him.
“Hi, Lina, I’m glad you’re safe.” He said, and wrapped his hand around her shoulder.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” She asked with a chuckle.
“Mike asked me to give you a ride home but I didn’t. If you gig a scratch, I’ll pay tenfolds.” He said, and she laughed.
“Austin, when did you get a new bestie?” Stanley who just arrived asked approaching them.
“What bestie?” Austij muttered, and Stanley pointed at his hand around Paulina’s shoulder.
“Your hand is on her shoulder, what’s that called?” Stanley teased.
“Of course not, my hand just hang there. Why would I place my hand on her shoulder.”
“Oh… I see.” Stanley said, and Paulina laughed.
“Why did I even do that?” Austin grumbled.
“Hi, Lina. Were you able to come up with ideas?” Stanley asked, and Paulina nodded.
“Yes, I’ll tell you guys later. They are five interesting ideas.” Paulina said.
“Interesting my foot!” Austin blurted.
“At least let’s hear it out first. I bet it’s something interesting.” Stanley said.
*
During recess, Paulina hang out with Sage and Sophia as usual, and Sage didn’t act indifferent, neither did he asked her any questions. Sophia ok the other hand scolded her for leaving without biding goodbye, and she apologized for it, sigh excuse that she was lost in the conversation.
After classes, Paulina and the MASS went to their suite, and she presented the activities she came up with to them, and they all concluded on one, and created a group chat for the club.
Micheal wanted to give her a ride back after the club activity, but she refused and followed Sage who was waiting for her.
“I see your club activity ended on time.” Sage said, and Paulina nodded.
“What about you? Haven’t you decide on a group yet?”
“I’m still deliberating.”
“So why have you been waiting behind?”
“I was in the library reading some history books do I got hook up in it.”
“Come to think it, you could just join the history club.”
“Nah, nah, that’s too much. I can’t. I was just interested in the book, not the county’s history. Who cares about the county?” He said, and she laughed.
*
He pulled over at the nearest bus station, and she intend to alight from the car, but he stopped her.
“Why don’t you just take a cab?” He asked.
“I recently got the card, and I’ve enough money there. It’s also less expensive.”
“Ok.” He muttered, and she intend to leave, but he held her back.
“Lina.” He called, and she looked at him.
“What?”
“I was going to mind my business until now, but I’ll keep to it. About you and Mike, I believe in whatever you want, but I’m always here when you want to be honest with me.” He said, and she nodded.
“Thanks a lot, Sage.”
“And don’t be too polite with me, it makes me feel like we aren’t friends. You aren’t that way with Sophie and the others.” He whined, and she smiled.
*
She waited for the next bus, until it arrived. Immediately she entered it, the ragged man entered as well but there was no seat left. She looked at him, and gave up her seat to him.
“Thank you.” He managed to say, and took the seat.
“Don’t mention.” She muttered, and looked away, wondering why she is always bumping into him.
*
Paulina alighted at the station closest to the noddles restaurant, not to see Steven but to have noddles because their noddles is good.
She got to the noddles shop, and Steven walked up to her after she placed her order.
“Why are you here?” He blurted.
“Obviously to eat noddles.” She lashed back.
“Why aren’t you asking me anything?”
“Are you going to answer me honestly?”
“Let’s go.” He said, and dragged her up.
“Hey, I haven’t eaten yet.” She shouted, allowing him drag her away.
“Steven, where are you taking the customer?” The man in charge shouted.
*
Steven dragged her to the delivery bike and gave her a helmet.
“What? Hop on.” He said, and she nodded.
She wore the helmet, and he drove to a field, and lead her to seat on the grass.
“Wow. It’s beautiful out here.”
“Have you never go sightseeing before?”
“Just once I guess, with Sophie and Sage. It was so fun.”
“Oh…”. He muttered.
“So, why are we here?”
“The pendant, are you with it?”
“Nope. You have been abiding me at school, so I kept it back at home so I won’t lose it.”
“Just help me keep it safe, there is nowhere for me to keep it here.”
“Why are you working part time? Ads bg you an elite?”
“You think I’m an elite?”
“Everyone at school believe the same.”
“I wish I was,” he muttered, and she looked at him.
“Even you?”
“Even me?”
“When Mike was drunk the other day, he told me he isn’t a true elite, and now you,”
“Mike said that?”
“I believe it’s because he was drunk,”
“Do you trust Mike ?”
“Why do you ask?”
“I’ve been friends with Mike for years, but I don’t trust him. So I was just curious to know if you do.”
“Why do you doubt him?”
“Because he seems to have secrets.”
“I rather doubt you, because you’ve more secrets. You were supposed to be an elite, but you’re working part-time, and you even have a pendant that you’re keeping a secret from your friend. Who are you exactly?”
“I… I’m just Steven.”
“Why don’t you talk at school, and whenever you’re with your friends?”
“Because they asked me not to.”
“Really?”
“I’m not a friend to them, so they asked me to talk. I’m better off quiet.”
“You aren’t gonna share the reasons with me, right?”
“Are you going to gossip about me to the other?” He asked, and she looked at him.
“I don’t enjoy talking about others.”
“I’ve to return to the restaurant. Do you still want to eat noodles?” He asked, and she nodded.
“Until when should I keep your pendant?” She asked.
“Till I’m confident enough to own it.” He muttered, and she held his hand.
“You’ve a beautiful voice, you should speak more.” She said, and he looked at her.
“Stop teasing me.”
“You’ve a beautiful masculine voice, it’s such a shame that you don’t speak often. It’s like a society loss.” She teased, and he chuckled.
“Then I’ll try to speak more… to you.” He said, and she chuckled.
*
*
Paulina grew fond of Steven afterwards, and she drop by at the noodles restaurant often to hang out with him and also enjoy thier noodles.
School has been fun, she got along with the MASS, and always enjoyed a bliss during thier club sessions.
She got along well with the MASS, and also with her friends —Sage and Sophia. She go to the noodles restaurant often as well, and hang out with Steven. He is a very cool guy, and she grew really fond of him.
Ava hasn’t pull any strings since the last time, and her friends totally avoided her doing their own things. They vacate her suite, and have been having fun alone without her.
*
Days passed into weeks, the supreme class students started making preparations for the big dinner that is fast approaching—parents-students dinner.
The boys go around with presents proposing to girls to be thier dates, some got rejected and some were accepted spicing up the moment.
*
The MASS all at in thier suite with Paulina after thier club session for the day, they sat to have dessert while chattering about the guy that got rejected after proposing to Jessica to be his date.
“The nerve of Theo to think Jessica will match in with him.” Austin said, and they all laughed.
“She rejected three guys in a role, everyone now call her Queen of rejection.” Stanley said, and they laughed again.
“How will she find herself a date at that rate?” Paulina muttered, and they all looked at her.
“Oh… you’re new so you know nothing.” Austin teased.
“What’s there to know?” Paulina grumbled.
“You don’t need to know.” Austin said, sticking out his tongue.
“Jessica is her father’s pride, he is always her date during every events.” Steven said, and they all looked at him.
“Oh…” Paulina muttered.
“Steven, did you…”. Austin muttered, and Stanley gave him a warning look.
“Guys, it’s getting late.
“Austin, you shouod worry more about securing a date for yourself. You shouldn’t have broke up with your ex this soon.” Stanley said.
“Was it my fault? She found out about our next clubbing plan, and she got angry about it. She throw a tantrum telling me that as long as we are together, she forbid me from going. Like she is my sister or something, so I broke up with her that instant.”
“She is too full of herself.” Stanley said.
“I was also planning to adjust till the big dinner, but it seems like I’ll have to find a date. What do you think about Kyla?”
“Cool!” Stanley said.
“What Kyla?” Michael asked.
“The albino twins.” Austubbreoled.
“She turned down Jay.” Micheal said.
“I’m not Jay. Stanley and I, will match in that party with the twin sisters.” Austin said, and did a high-five with a Stanley.
“Steve, won’t you get a date?” Stanley asked, and he shook his head.
“Goodness man, don’t tell me you will come alone like a pathetic man again. This is senior year, bro, senior year!” Austin blurted.
“It’s getting late, and there is a big party ahead of us tomorrow.” Micheal said.
“Yeah… a big one.” Austin muttered.
*
Micheal left with Paulina in his car, and she looked at him when the driver drove past the bus station.
“He already passed the bus station.” She complained.
“I want you to accompany me somewhere.”
“Where?”
“Trust me, I’m not gonna hurt you.” He said, and she scoffed.
“I believe I’ve all rights to know wherever you’re taking me.”
“I know you don’t trust me, but you know you are safe with me.” He said, and she rolled her eyes.
*
They arrived at a mall, and all the staffs at the mall assembled outside to welcome them.
Paulina looked at him wondering what he was up to, but he held her hand, leading her in.
“What are we doing here?” She whispered in his ear.
“Shopping. We are here to shop.”
“I think they are on break, no one is here shopping. Perhaps, it’s their down time.”
“Who knows.” He grumbled thudding his shoulders.
“Don’t tell me you are the one behind it.”
“Then I won’t tell you,” he whispered, and went to sit on the couch.
“You’re so unbelievable.”
“I want you to accompany me somewhere, that’s why I lured you here.” He muttered, avoiding her gaze.
“Where?” She asked, already curious.
“It’s a secret.”
“You must be kidding me.”
“You can’t go there on your school uniform, so you’ve to change.” He said, winking at her.
She laughs sarcastically, and later gave in.
She tried on so many outfits before she settled for one, matching it with a pair of sliver shoe. And jewelers.
She stepped out of the dressing room to join him, and his face lit up as he checked her out. She has always been beautiful, but she look stunning on the outfit.
“I can’t accept this Mike, what’s this about?” She blurted.
“Beautiful! You look beautiful, no more objections.” He said, and stretched his hand towards her.
“You’re annoying.” She blurted, and jabbed his hand away.
Walking carelessly past him, she almost fall but he was quick to catch her.
His gaze was fixed on hers like he could read something on her face, neither did she looked away.
They stood that way for few minutes, and the staffs started giggling mumbling words.
👤”They look so good together.” The few staffs around grumbled.
He instantly released her, and she blinked rapidly after getting her balance.
He cleared his throat out loud, and gestured her to go first. She slightly nodded and composed herself before she walked past him.
*
They arrived at a beautiful garden house, and she couldn’t help to admire its beautiful.
“It’s so beautiful here, beautiful butterflies and bees.” She said in amusement, her face brightened up.
She looked around amazed when she heard a vibrant musical band performance, creating a warm and vibrant atmosphere. She spun around to look at him confused of her purpose there, and saw him on a knee carrying a bunch of flowers.
“Will you be my date lc tomorrow?” He asked, and her eyes widened in astonishment ; putting that much effort into asking her to be his date was amazing.
“Mike… you could’ve just asked me, do you’ve to go through this length?” She found herself saying.
“I’m still kneeing, you should answer me first.”
“I really don’t want to attend that party, but after putting up all these efforts, can I still say no?” She said, and he chuckled.
“Thank you.” He muttered, and embraced her.
*
They went to the table and a waiter received their order.
“You’re really one of a kind Mike, how can you put up that show just to ask me to be your date?”
“That’s the only way you could say yes. I’ve been pondering about it all these while, before this idea came to my mind.”
“You could’ve ask other girls at school, I believe even that school president… Jessica, would gladly accept you.”
“What made you think so?”
“I heard she had a one-sided crush for you, so who knows… the feeling might still be there.”
“One-sided crush? You’re so funny. For you to remember that and use it now, only means one thing. Are you jealous?” He teased, and she couldn’t control her laughters.
“What? Jealous of what?”
“Everyone at school thinks we are dating, and you are in the supreme class. Attending the party with another girl… nah…”
“It’s almost a month, Mike. We made the agreement to fake it for a month, and we haven’t even made any Athelstan to get rice of Ava, although she has also been quiet lately. But I can’t help but worry at the thought of what she could be scheming.”
“Then, should we make it real?”
“Make what real?”
“He my girl for real. The one month agreement might not be enough for us to get back at Ava.”
“You must be kidding me,”
“I wasn’t,” he grumbled, and she looked at him.
His gaze met hers, but she was quick to look away before they divert their attention to the waiter who brought their orders.
They ate in silence for few minutes before Mike broke the silence, starting a conversation about the party, connecting her to a designer that he already paid to prepare her outfit.
She ordered for a ride back home after concluding her outfit conversation, declining his offer to give her a ride home.
*
She got home and turned on her bed remembering everything that happened.
“Why would he make such proposal candidly,” she thought, tossing and turning on her bed.

Everyone at school started talking about the party that will held later at night. The supreme class dismissed earlier than usual and Paulina left school with Micheal to get the things she needs for the party, and also expecting her outfit.
**
She finally went home later and had to tell Michael that she lived at the Stanford’s mansion because he insisted on picking her up from home. Her outfit arrived later, she he tried it on taking her time to admire it and her maid didn’t stop hailing her praises.
She went to freshen up later when it was almost time, and returned to see her outfit ruined, and the pieces scattered around.
“Who did she?” She almost cried, and Ava barged into her room.
“I’d! That party is not a place for you. My parents and I would be there, and if you want rk show up, you should follow us on your causal wear as the freeloader you are.”
Paulina’s eyes turned in fury, thinking of how disappointed Micheal would be, he spent a fortune in getting that dress for her.
“How could you?!” She yelled, and wanted to hit Ava when she heard her phone ringing.
She glared at Ava before going to check the caller ID, and remained puzzled for a moment when she was it was Michael.
📞*Hello*
📲* I’ll be there in an hour. Hope you’re ready?*
📞*Ive a little problem, Mike.*
📲*What happened? Should I come mow?*
📞*Ava ruined my outfit,* she cried, for some reasons, she was overwhelmed because she didn’t expect that. Micheal spent a fortune on the dress, and it was a shame that everything got ruined.
📲*Don’t cry! I knew this was bound to happen when you told me you stay there so I asked the designer to prepare another dress just incase. I’ll contact them now, but it might take longer for it to be delivered. We might be late to the party.*
📞*Mike, it’s fine. Just go without me, I’ll follow. You’re the director, you would’ve to give a speech.*
📲*That’s absurd! How can I do that?*
📞*Mike, I promise to follow, I’ll follow. If you wait for me, I’ll change my mind.*
📲*Lina, why are you doing this?*
📞*That’s my condition, otherwise, I won’t go.*
📲*Alrigjt. If that’s your condition, I’ll send my secetary to come pick you up so you can get dressed at the mall. Who knows what Ava could do again.*
*Thank you, Mike,* with that, she dropped the call.
*
His secretary arrived later, and they went to ten designer to get her outfit. It took over half an hour to get there, and almost an hour for them to wait for the dress before getting dressed.
*
She arrived at the party almost 2 hours late, and entered the hall to meet everywhere crowded. Micheal promised to walk her in from the parking lot, but she went in a she didn’t see him. She waited by the entrance devastated with thoughts of calling him again, but the announcement that followed left her speechless
“…to round up my speech, I’d like us to give a toast to the newest couples-to-be, Micheal Russ and Ava Stanford.” Mrs. Russ announced, and Paulina face twisted with mixed feelings of shock and disappointment.
