THE BRIGGS MANSION**
“Son” Mrs Briggs immediately stood up to hug Leonard
“It’s so good to see you mom” Leonard smiled,hugging her tightly
“You became more handsome son” Mrs Briggs said and ruffled his hair before letting him go
“You should have postponed this meeting till tomorrow mom,I’m just coming from the concert and tired” Leonard said and sat down
“I know,but after today you will keep telling me you’re busy” Mrs Briggs said
“Why am I here?” Leonard asked hoping it’s not what he’s thinking
“So….have you gotten a girlfriend?” Mrs Briggs asked with a smile and Leonard sighed
“Not again mom…..”
“So you’re telling me,you spent a month in Italy and you are still single?? Are you trying to die single?” Mrs Briggs snapped
“Mom please,I told you countless times. I’m not ready yet…..”
“When will you be ready?! Son!! I want to see my grandchildren before I die!! You’re twenty two!!” She yelled
“I’m glad you remember my age mom,I’m still twenty two for crying out loud. Can’t I just remain single for twenty more years?” Leonard asked
“Are you crazy?!” Mrs Briggs yelled
“Having a girlfriend is not in my to do list mom,can we talk about another thing?” Leonard said
Suddenly Mrs Briggs broke into tears,shocking the h*ll out of him
“Mom?” He called
“Why are you doing this to me??” She sniffed
“Is it a sin to want grandchildren?? You’re doing nothing son,you are rich already,so what is the problem??” She continue crying and Leonard immediately moved closer to her
“Mom please,stop crying…..”
“I won’t,I will keep crying everyday until you get a girlfriend. Do you know what it means?? My son is the reason behind my tears” She said and cried more
“Mom…..okay fine I ….I will start looking for the right girl” Leonard muttered trying to make her stop crying
Mrs Briggs immediately wipe her tears
“You don’t have to do that,I got someone for you already” She said and Leonard’s eyes widened
“Mom!!” He called
“Trust me son,she’s my friend’s daughter and she’s so beautiful. Even though we haven’t talked to her yet,but who would reject you??” She smiled while Leonard stared at her speechlessly
“So…you want me to date her?” He asked slowly
“Not just date,you will get married to her” Mrs Briggs smiled
“Mom!!”
“What!!! I’m doing this because I’m your mother!!! How can my own son tell me he’s not interested in getting married?!!! Do you expect me to keep quiet!!! You’re getting married to that girl!!!” She yelled
“Mom I’m not getting married,dating is not enough,now you’re talking about marriage?? Come on mom,I’ve not even agreed to date her” Leonard groaned
“I know,that’s why I planned to take things slow. You won’t get married to her right away,you two will only be engaged and she will be betroned to you” Mrs Briggs smiled
Leonard rough his hair
“Mom…..”
“Please do this for me son,you said you love me. If you really love me then please do it for me…please” She said cutely in a voice she knew her son would never ignore
Leonard sighed
“Fine” he muttered and she immediately smiled
“Yes!!!! I know I have the best son in the whole world!!!”
Leonard roll his eyes
“I will inform my friend and we will tell you when you two are going to meet okay?”
Leonard stood up
“I’m leaving mom,take care of yourself” He muttered and walked out
“Gosh,that stubborn son of mine” She said and immediately dialed her friend,Clara’s number
Leonard got back into the car moodily,he wasn’t himself any longer.
“You have a mail” Collins handed one of the ones in his hand to Leonard and he took it

*YEAH ME TOO* Leonard replied and dropped the phone before closing his eyes

NEXT DAY★JULIUS’S MANSION**
“Thank you” Mariana smiled as she got her package from the delivery boy
She got a nice dress for her dinner date with Royce tonight,she closed the door and was climbing the stairs when her aunt,Clara called her back
“Come here Mariana” She said
Mariana turned immediately and went back downstairs
“Yes aunt?”
“What is that in your hand?” Clara asked,sipping from her wine
“Oh,it’s a dinner gown” Mariana smiled
“Good timing” Clara said and Mariana frowned
“What are you talking about?” She asked
“Sit down Mariana” Clara said and Mariana sat down curiously
“You’re getting engaged” Clara uttered and Mariana gasped
“What?”
“I said you’re getting engaged,you will be married to him but I decided to skip that until you’re done in school…..”
“Aunt! What are you talking about?! How can you suddenly tell me I’m getting engaged?? How!” Mariana snapped
“He’s my friend’s son….”
“To hell with your friend’s son! I have a boyfriend and I love him so much!” Mariana yelled and stood up
“I’m getting engaged? That’s a no,I’m going to marry whoever I want not a random dude I don’t know about……”
“This is about business Mariana,they are freaking rich….”
“So you’re selling me out because of money?!! That’s wickedness!!” Mariana yelled angrily
“Are you crazy?!! How dare you yell at me?!! Who the h*ll do you think you are?!! You should be thanking me!! I’ve been taking care of you since your parents died a death nobody knows about!! I feed you,clothe you,send you to school!!!! Where do you think I get money from? Do you think your useless parent were rich before they died?!! How dare you go against my word!!” Clara snapped and Mariana swallowed hard
“You’re right…….” She mumbled painfully
“Get ready,you’re meeting them tonight” Clara said
Mariana’s heart beat suddenly increased and immediately she ran upstairs,struggling for breaths as she opened the door forcefully. Her hand holding her chest tightly as she opened the bag where she keeps her pills,she took two tablets and swallowed it with water.
She started breathing heavily till her heart beat returned for normal.
She have a heart disease called Arrhythmia which is the improper beating of the heart,sometimes irregular,sometimes it’s too slow and sometimes it’s too fast just like now.
She held her chest and sat down on the bed gently before breaking into tears
She found out about it two years ago and since then,she has been on drugs without anyone’s knowledge,not even her aunt is aware of it. She take her pills everywhere with her,she makes sure to pack it in the way nobody will ever find out about it
Mariana sniffed and wiped her tears
“You’re fine Mari J,,you will be fine.” She mumbled and kept on hitting her chest
