She listened to the sound of the waves as it filled her ear, giving her piece of mind for a while. She stretched her legs as the breeze overwhelmed her.
It touched her hair and flung it penetrating into her neckline and making her realize that, coming here was really worth it. One thing she’d miss about Seattle is this feeling. She is so glad she came.
Her mother came around and sat down beside her, offering her a cup of coffee. “Thanks mom.” she appreciated, taking a sip from the hot coffee. So refreshing. She smiled at her mother. “This is good.”
“Yes, Maxim Gold. Your favorite.”
She smiled again.”I suspected it. ” they both chuckled before silence settled down between them. The breeze came again and she smiled at it. “How is dad? Isn’t he ever gonna come home?”
“He is but, not now. He has many business schedules and appointments in North Africa, unless he’s done. I don’t think he’s showing up.”
She growled. “But you miss him.” she touched her mother’s palm. “Don’t you feel lonely staying in this big house?”
“Is that why you came? To stay with me?”
She nodded her head. “Yes mom. I’m never leaving your side again.” she placed her head on her mother’s shoulder.
“Something is bothering you, Diane.”
She shut her eyes. “No, I’m fine.”
“You’re not fine. ” she palmed her daughter’s face, staring into her eyes. “You don’t need to hide it from me.”
“I’m fine mom.”
“That’s what you’ve been saying since yesterday.”
She almost broke down. “I’m fine mom. I’m going to be fine.”
“You don’t need to hide it from me. Someone causing you heartache? Someone making life miserable for you? If it’s because of a husband, I’m not gonna bother you about it again.”
“It’s Dee…” She snapped and began to shake. She cried silently. Her mother hugged her caressing her back.
“It’s okay.” she whispered into her ear.
She raised her head up. “I love Dee. I love Dee so much that it hurts. And I can’t protect what I love. I don’t even deserve him. I don’t have anything to offer him. I am not even sure I can make him happy. I’m not sure dating is for the two of us but I don’t want him as my friend anymore. ” She sobbed. “I had to let him go. I have to. I need to set up myself before I can own anything. ”
“Diane, is that your problem?”
She nodded.
“Does he love you?”
She nodded. “Yes.”
“Did he complain and speak any less of you?”
She shook her head. “No.”
“Oh Diane! You’re such a fool!”
She became confused, “What?”she wiped her tears.
“He loves you. I knew he always did. Right from when he used to come to this place with you. The way he looked at you and the way he always smiled at you was always different. I knew he loved you but he never admitted it.” she sighed. “But now, he admitted it and what’s your reason?”
“I can’t…”
“You can and you have to. That guy might have cried a lot for you.”
“He will soon love someone else.” she said while her mother smacked her head. “Are you okay? ” she was angry at her. ” I clearly didn’t raise a fool, did I? Are you kidding me right now, Diane? You’re waiting for him to love someone else before you take what is yours? Diane, why are you foolish? I can’t even imagine what he’s going through right now.” she rolled her eyes at her.
“But…I don’t have anything to offer…”
“All he need is you and…” she touched her chest,”Your heart. That’s all he’s asking for.”
“So it’s okay to love him?”
“You want me to tell you everything? To teach you everything? Now get up and leave my house now!!” her mother yelled forcing her to stand on her feet.

That’s how she returned to NYC. That’s how she ran to his house knocking so desperately at his door. Her heart pounded so violently as many thoughts ran through her mind. What if De_ra is in there with him?
She noticed the doorknob twisting and she stood back, mustered enough courage, she took in a deep breath.
The door came open and her eyes almost fell off seeing that wicked robe clothing his body.
“What are you doing here?”
Her eyes still on the robe, she pointed at it,”That robe. Why are you putting it on?” she asked.
“What business do you have with my robe?”
“I couldn’t stop thinking about it for the past two days.” she confessed. She thought about it a lot and didn’t imagine him wearing it infront of her right now.
She pushed her way in. “Dee, I went to Seattle and I realized something.” she paused looking away from his robe. She looked at his face. ” I realized that …”
“Diane, you don’t have to confuse me or…”
“I love you.” she said.
“What…what did you just say?”
“I love you and I won’t let anyone take you away from me. Not even De_ra have the rights to.”
“Are you okay?”
“Yes, going to Seattle made me come to my senses. I love you and I missed you and I won’t let even a single breath of De_ra sweep you away from me.”
She advanced closer to him, she could see the confusion on his face but she wasn’t discouraged. He’s hers and no one can try take him away.
“Give me three weeks. Please Dee, and I will make sure you won’t regret loving me.”
“Three weeks? Diane, you barge into my house after what happened three days ago and then, you…you tell me you love and expect me to believe it.”
“That’s why I said that I need three weeks from you. Please, just give me three weeks and you will forget De_ra forever.”
He gulped staring at her. She had finally gone insane. It’s so sudden. Yeah, it true that he always wanted her to say those words to him, but now she finally said it, it feels so strange coming from her lips.
“You love me?” he asked her and she nodded desperately. “So much that my heart hurts.”she mumbled.
He palmed her face. His eyes searched hers. She wasn’t lying from what he saw in her eyes. “I love you so much Diane.” he said and kissed her forehead.
