** CHAPTER TWENTY TWO **
“Wow! Wow!” I exclaimed still with my right hand in my pocket.
“Good morning Senior ” Judith
greeted and smiled but her head bent down.
“You look absolutely exquisite” I used
the same grammar Mr Solomon thundered in the class.
“You with grammar. Are you abusing
me? The grammar is too much ” Judith exclaimed.
“My dear you look
geogeous” I complimented .
“Thank you, you too” Judith said.
Judith gently passed me in a way her arm touched me softly.
She walked into her class without looking back, then i smiled.
Few minutes later I went to her classroom and saw her glancing at her note.
“Come lets take a work round the school” i suggested.
“But I’m busy as you can see” Judith said.
“Just stand up” i held
her by the hand.
We walked neatly
around the school compound like couples.
“I want to ask you something” Judith
broke the silence.
“Do you know how it feels for someone to be inlove?”
“Yes, why asking?”
I said.
“Because someone is having the feelings and dying to hear you say you love her same”
I became surprise at her words. I was actually thinking that she was indirectly telling him that she loves me.
“Who is this girl you are talking
about in love?”
“ Sonya! ” i stopped and stared at her. I was disappointed without knowing what to say.
“Yes, ” Judith resumed staring at
me too. “She’s madly in love with you. Why
can’t you give her a chance? She’s my friend
and I’m to be by her side always, please,
give her a chance”
“But , i don’t have any feelings for her!” I confessed.
“Then develop it for her” she poured.
“I can’t! I have tried severally. My heart beat
for another girl. She’s the person i
dream of, day and night” I spilled.
Judith’s heart began to beat again as she stared and listened .
“Who is the girl your heart beat for?”
she asked.
I wanted to respond but the presence of Bella who bashed in our presence prevented
me. She looked at Both of us angrily and
hissed, then she walked away.
“Please, i have to go” Judith also walked out
but i held her hand.
“I’m sorry, leave me alone” she added and
walked into her classroom.
She tried to think of how she feels for me,
how girls flock around me, how she is in
the same queue with them and tears dropped from her eyes.

I looked disappointed and jumbled to talk or go to the assembly ground.
Sonya and Jully occasionally looked at
me and wondered what was going on.
Dera noticed Judith mood again to be sluggish and unsave as they stood on the
assembly ground.
Even i looked dense in the sight of Duff
and refused to show up on the
assembly as usual.
Just before the assembly ended, the principal called me from
his office and gave me instructions.
After everything was done as usual everybody expected to see the principal or Mr
Solomon but none were present thereby
causing a rising noise.
Just before their very eyes i came out standing before four hundred and fifty students without smiling.
“Silent everybody!” i shouted and all
attention was given to me.
Judith’s heart began to beat fast , Sonya and Bella even all the students admired my present.
“But he’s unhappy, why now?” Sonya
thought.
“Good morning my fellow students”
“Good morning, senior prefect !”
they chorused and everywhere became
quiet.
“According to the principal” I continued.
began. “All Ssenior Secondary 3 students should get ready for their final
year examination, WAEC because it’s fast
approaching than expected. Secondly, the
quiz between Ssenior Secondary 2 and
Senior Ssecondary 3 will take place
in the next two weeks instead of three, and it won’t be shifted again for any obvious reason. So get prepared.. Thank you”
I gently stepped down and walked out
without any sign for Sonya to dismissed the
assembly as usual which got her more
disturbed. So she quietly stepped forward and dismissed them.
