CHAPTER FIFTY EIGHT
King Wright kept running around the forest.
He just saw what happened in the palace in his dream and he knew it wasn’t a mere dream.
It was happening for real but right now he couldn’t tell where exactly he took her to.
He kept running and trying to sniff her but he got nothing
There was almost no trace of them in the forest or was he in the wrong direction?
His body ached badly but he couldn’t pause, even for a bit.
His pausing would mean he’s willing to let her die.
He had to find them.
It was important to him that he found them.
Stopping for a second involuntarily, he held on to the tree next to himself, he bent, vomiting blood.
He’s been like that for the past few days.
He was slowly loosing his life yet he couldn’t do anything about it.
When he was done, he used his leg to cover the blood with sand, it was when he was doing that that he saw the horses foot print.
He suddenly felt even the tiniest ray of hope as he touched the ground, where the footprint was, shutting his eyes.
When he opened his eyes, he looked to the right with the side of his eyes then frowned.
And like the wind again, he dashed out, towards the river, ignoring what he saw.
.
.
.
.
Getting to the hill, he looked around him, no sign of them.
The last foot print he saw was at the edge of the hill.
No! He growled as he dived into river searching frantically for his mate.
Being a half werewolf and half mermaid, his shiny long tail were already out when he jumped into the river.
Swimming like the fish he is, he searched the whole river, his eyes as bright as the sun right beneath the river as he searched.
There was no sign of either of them.
He got out as his upper body was only visible, the look on his face was that of a man torn apart.
He was panting really hard as he looked around the river, any sign at all will do a lot for him.
He could strongly feel their energies in the river but where are they then?
He wasn’t sure she knew how to swim, if she had been here then she should still be here except she swam out which was a bit impossible because the river Is quite large and deep.
Taking a deep breath, he went back into the river, scanning and searching.
Except for their energy and the vision he saw when he touched the horses foot print, there was no sign of them at all.
The horse can go out on his own but what about Zelda?
Fear gripped him.
His body was weak and for the first time it scared him.
Not because he could die but because he could pass out before finding his mate.
He lifted his head to take a look at his surroundings when he saw the horse staring at him from the other side of the river.
Jumping back into the river, he swam swiftly to the shore, running out of the river.
Where is she?!
What did you do to her?! He growled at the horse but the horse turned around and started walking away, totally ignoring him.
What did you do to her?!
Tell me!
Wyatt! He screamed chasing after him with his wet body.
Wyatt? He heard a voice repeat after him.
Turning he saw Zelda standing behind him, drenched and shivering.
Zelda, he muttered running two steps to her as he embraced her.
Zelda stood in shock, she couldn’t move her hands to hug him back.
The tears that gathered in her eyes fell freely.
She was lying on the floor at the other edge of the river with the horse staring down at her with no remorse after getting her out, when she saw King Wright run to the edge and jumped in without a second thought.
She was touched by how he behaved, it was obvious he was scared to death.
She had tried to call out to him to tell him that she was safe but the horse had his limb on her stomach, he held her down the same way he held her down in the river.
She could only watch with teary eyes as he searched.
She was shocked to see he had tail but she has seen and heard alot of shocking things already, it wasn’t more shocking than her near death experience.
I thought I lost you.
I’m sorry I didn’t get here faster.
Are you injured?
Can you walk?
Do you feel pain anywhere? King Wright asked worriedly checking her all over.
His forehead creased in worry, a look she never expected to see so soon judging from how he was the only time she saw him.
I’m… alright, she muttered looking at his eyes, he had gathered tears too, was he going to cry for her?
Was he this emotional?
Why then was he being weird?
I’m glad… I’m glad you are fine, he replied hugging her again.
She didn’t see his expression go from sadness to pain as he held on to her.
His whole body ached, he tried to stop himself from passing out again.
His grip on her tightened and she held him this time.
You still don’t trust me, do you? They both clearly heard.
King Wright pulled away from the hug like he just realized himself.
Zelda looked around her looking for who just spoke but no one else was in sight.
I told you not to do it! What if she had died! King Wright half yelled.
Would it be so bad to die before you? The horse replied angrily, confusing Zelda who was still looking for who her mate was talking to since the horses mother wasn’t moving.
King Wright glared at the horse and Zelda stared at him.
Who are you talking to? she asked looking around.
No one, i have to take you home, King Wright replied trying to take her hand but she withdrew her hand.
Wait…… she said looking at the horse then back at King Wright.
Wyatt…. i heard you call him Wyatt, she spoke looking confusingly at them.
I was… I was just carried away, King Wright lied and she stared at him.
He was a bad liar, she didn’t need to know a lot about him to tell he was lying.
You still don’t want to tell her? The voice asked again, this time Zelda was quick to look at the horse, both his head and his right hand moved.
Fear gripped her.
A talking horse? she half yelled and King Wright covered her mouth with his palm strongly.
You aren’t so dumb after all,the horse spoke turning around and started leaving the sea shore.
She stared in shock, she couldn’t blink.
The horse spoke!
It just spoke!
She recalled how she heard “Get in” before getting on his back but it sounded like a spell, she didn’t think where it came from, she just obeyed.
It was the horse!
How?! She yelled but her voice came as muffled sound since the Kings hand was still covering her lips.
Let go! she muttered again pulling his hand away and he let her go.
Let’s go,King Wright said and she shook her head.
What’s going on?
Your horse speaks? she asked and King Wright nodded.
She stood, silent for a while
Why did he try to kill me then?
What did I do? she asked and King Wright sighed.
“I don’t kill anymore, you are one lucky brat” she heard the horse speak again.
What were trying to do then? she barked pointing fingers at him.
I almost died!
“You didn’t” he replied arrogantly.
Is that all you have to say, I was scared to death, she whispered walking slowly towards the horse.
Where are you going? King Wright asked pulling her back.
Was she not scared of him?
Was she going to fight him?
He won’t hurt me, I have you, she replied pulling her hand away and started walking towards the horse, and the horse just stared.
Getting to him, she stared at his face blankly, then she placed her hand on his head brushing it like she did in the palace.
Fearlessly.
King Wright stared.
I could have died, why did you do that? she whispered still brushing his head fondly, the angry looking horse slowly calmed down.
None of them expected that reaction from her.
Slowly, King Weight walked towards them.
“It wasn’t to kill you, we all knew you won’t willingly jump into the river if we asked you to” she heard the horse reply.
Pausing, she looked at King Wright.
We?She asked looking at both of them.
Why would I be asked to jump into the river? she asked again.
“This isn’t a mere river, a lot of people have ended up dead in there but this is the river your mate has been bathing in, alone.
It has its own powers, not everyone knows that.
You have been in the human world for too long, you do not possess as much power as you should to help your mate, jumping into the river is one of the steps to take in regaining your powers.
Your mate is…..
Wyatt! King Wright called stopping him.
Zelda glared at him suspiciously.
What’s about my mate? she asked eyeing her mate.
Zelda, that’s enough, we should leave now, its chilly, King Wright said trying to pull Zelda away.
Sit! they both heard the horse order.
Wyatt? King Wright called slowly.
(I’ll be using Wyatt for the horse from how on)
“Sit down Wright” Wyatt ordered and slowly, King Wright sat his @$$ down on the ground and Zelda stared in surprise.
Who exactly is this horse to order him around?
Why is he sitting and not saying a word?
Why is he calling him Wyatt? So many question filled her head as she stared at them.
“He hasn’t told you he’s dying, has he” Zelda heard and she turned to her mate in shock.
Dying?
How?
That’s not true, her mate replied but before he knew it, a heavy kick landed on his back, Wyatt raised his limbs and kicked him badly that he spat out the blood he has been trying to control.
Oh my God! Zelda screams rushing to him on the ground.
What is happening?
Why is he spitting blood?
Why is he dying?
Why didn’t you tell me? she cried tapping his back slowly.
Worry all over her face.
She used the rim of her cloth to wipe the blood off his lips and King Wright stared at her, he h@tëd to be pitied or pampered but he liked her touch that those things didn’t matter.
Are you going to tell her or should I tell her myself? Wyatt asked above them.
He was like a father scolding his son.
I didn’t want you to worry, King Wright replied clutching his stomach.
Shouldn’t we get him home, He’s clearly not okay, Zelda begged Wyatt.
He cant be seen like that, Wyatt replied walking over to their front.
Then how do I get a doctor?
We have to do something!
I’m fine, its just temporary, King Wright replied coughing.
He was a bit embarrassed, their first encounter was awful and now this.
“He needs you, only you can cure him” Wyatt replied refusing to meet King Wrights disapproving gaze.
How?
What do I have to do? she asked standing up to start.
Its not that easy Zelda, you need more than what you know right now, King Wright whispered trying to suppress the pain he was feeling.
Then teach me, I’m willing to do anything, I can’t watch you die, she pleaded.
“It didn’t seem like you were willing to give away your cat the last time” Wyatt spoke grudgingly.
My cat? she asked.
What has the cat got to do with this? she asked.
“Your dear mate was so worried about finding you that he had to tamper with his life for you” Wyatt replied.
You don’t have to put it that way, King Wright growled
How do you mean? Zelda asked.
“Your little pet wasn’t in existence until about two months ago, its not a mere cat or the whole of your mate like you thought, he is half of him, or the most vital part of him”
I do not understand Zelda spoke.
King Wright tried to talk but Wyatt shushed him.
“He created the cat out of himself, it would have been safer if he turned into a cat, creating another creature from ones self is dangerous.
That creature would end up sucking up his life and that’s what your pet is doing”
Beiber is sucking up his life, but how?
He put his whole life into Beiber and has been living on the little energy left in his empty body.
Your maye has been like a walking dead since he sent “your pet” he said the last part with a weird tone, he never liked the idea but he kept mute because it was the only way.
Oh My, I didn’t know that… what do we do?
What’s keeping you from taking your life back? she asked slapping his shoulder mildly.
You were so attached to him, you seemed to prefer such a little thing to your own mate, Wright growled under his breath, finally expressing his displeasure.
You should have said something, how could you stay quiet?!
How would I say something when you were busy getting all loved up with that white headed boy, he growled angrily.
White headed hoy?
You mean August?
What about you?
You didn’t even show up when I got here, were you already regretting making me come here? She fired back at him.
That’s enough you both! They heard the voice again and they both kept mute.
We already tried getting his life back from the cat but it didn’t work, Wyatt spoke.
Why?
You haven’t let go yet, you have to let go first then conduct the ritual yourself, he replied.
Let’s do that then, she replied immediately.
Are you sure? Her mate whispered.
I do not prefer a mere cat to my mate, she replied with an eye roll.
Get the cat then, Wyatt ordered and King Wright nodded.
Zelda watched his face, how his lips parted a little as he shut his eyes to mind link Evenuis.
If perfection was a person, she muttered to herself.
He’ll be here soon, King Wright said once he opened his eyes.
Zelda nodded and sat beside him.
They both watched as Wyatt strolled away.
Is he leaving? she asked.
He’s going to keep watch, someone saw me cough out blood on my way here, he said, taking her palm into his.
I’m sure he must have reported to his accomplice by now, I already told him (Wyatt), Wright told her.
You mind linked him? she asked and he nodded.
They both sat in silence, the thoughts in her heard didn’t escape Wright who didn’t mean to prey, he had to pretend like he wasn’t hearing her thoughts so he won’t make her uncomfortable.
She was thinking about Wyatt…. she was trying so hard to solve the mystery on her own.
Why aren’t you asking me? he asked her.
Huh?
You want to know why he can talk and why his name is Wyatt of all names, don’t you? he asked like he was taking a guess.
Are you going to tell me? she whispered looking at him.
Nodding, he sighed deeply.
He is my brother…. my twin brother, King Wright dropped the bomb shell.
What?
How?
Your twin brother is…. dead…
He is, King Wright replied confusing her.
He died but…. his soul still lives inside the horse.
I couldn’t let him go, he muttered.
You couldn’t let him go?
How is that possible? she asked.
Its a long story, a story between us alone, King Wright replied
