CHAPTER 57
MASON
It’s been a week now since I last saw Avery and spoke to her.
Ever since then I haven’t talked to my parents or anyone.
I even shut myself from everyone including Roy, Westley and Oliver. I have been ignoring their calls since.
Even when they came to see me I didn’t allow them to enter. All I just wanted to do was just be on my own.
My face held no emotion but coldness. I haven’t even seen Arianna and I was grateful she didn’t bother me this week.
I was just staring at nothing in particular, the only thing that has been on my mind was Avery.
The way she looked at me with so much hurt on her face.
I was already sick both physically, mentally and emotionally.
I’ve not been feeling well but nobody knew because I didn’t want anyone to see me.
Now this evening I’m having dinner with my parents and Arianna’s parents.
“I miss her so much” but I’ve already accepted my fate.
A week without seeing her felt like the joke in my chest kept getting deeper and wider.
I’ve totally fallen into depression because I really recognize myself these days.
I hardly smile, eat or socialize with anyone.
I sighed,
I needed to get my things because there’s no use of it being there because I’m not going back .
My engagement with Arianna has already been announced publicly and I knew Avery must have seen it.
I took my keys about to enter my car when I saw Arianna.
I didn’t even acknowledge that someone was there.
“Are you going somewhere?” She asked but I just ignored her.
I was just too tired to get any words from my mouth.
I entered my car but she was quick to hop in
“Where are you going?”
I started the car as I drove out of my Mansion.
Arianna kept talking but I didn’t reply .
When I couldn’t bear it anymore I brought out my airpod blocking my two ears.
Playing a rap song that matches my emotions, putting it in the highest volume as I drive faster.
I didn’t even turn to Arianna till I reached my destination.
It was already late .
I removed the airpod as I got down from the car.
Arianna quickly came to wrap her hand around mine.
I was about to push it away but this is something I should get used to since she’s going to be my wife.
I knew they’ll all be in the cafeteria considering it’s time for lunch.
As I made my way there screams started
?️ Ohh my God it’s Mason and Arianna
?️ Heard they’re getting engaged next week.
?️ They look so cute together
I turned a deaf ear to wh@tëver they were saying, keeping the same emotionless face while Arianna was there smiling as if she had won a prize.
I walked to the cafeteria searching for Oliver, Roy and Westley.
Immediately my eyes saw them and I made my way there.
Immediately I reached their table I avoided all contact with Avery because she was sitting there with Hannah, her best friend.
Her head was down as she looked at her fingers.
“Hey guys”
I said not smiling as they all hugged me, pushing Arianna away and I was grateful for that
“Are you here to stay?”
“We missed you bro?”
“You made us worried”
“I’m sorry about that but I didn’t come here to stay but to get my things .”
“Why Mason, the program isn’t over. And you look colder than before “.
Westley turned to Arianna looking furious.
“This is all your fault, what the hell did you do to him?” He screamed.
“Just came to tell you guys also you are invited to our engagement of you want to came”
“Till then see you guys later”
With that I walked away leaving them stunned. I’m sure they are shocked with my behavior because I’ve never been this way to them before.
But you can’t blame me , ever since that night I last saw Avery I lost a part and every emotion leaving me emotionless.
I didn’t even remember Arianna as I walked to the building packing my things .
Putting it in my car I drove out of there not even bothering if Arianna was here or not.

AVERY
Seeing mason again I felt my heart beat increase.
He looked different, his skin was pale as if he’s sick.
He looks like he lost some weight.
But his face didn’t hold any emotions at all.
He looks like he doesn’t have one .
He didn’t even spare me a glare at all and it broke me when u saw Arianna’s hand around him.
Hearing him inviting them for his engagement made tears slip from my eyes.
When he left they all turned to Arianna and gave her what she deserves.
She immediately left because she couldn’t bear it anymore.
“He looks different and I’m worried about Mason,” Westley said.
“Yeah, he lost some weight and did you notice his skin is pale?” Roy said.
“Not to mention that he looks so cold even to us. This is the first time I’ve seen Mason like this” Westley said.
“I guess that engagement made a big turn for him” .
“Avery are you alright?” Westley asked.
I gave them a fake smile before I stood up not wanting to hear about him again.
As I started to walk where my legs took me .
I saw Mason’s car coming towards me.
My heart was beating fast as I swear his eyes met mine.
And seeing him stare at me sends shivers down my spine.
He truly looks different.
He removed his eyes as he drove past me like I meant nothing to him.
I was hoping he would at least stop the car and step out of the car at least tell me his sorry.
Tears fell from my eyes.
It hurt me so much thinking I meant nothing to him.
“Well, well well, isn’t it the trash here”
I looked at Arianna looking at me with a smirk on her lips.
“I told you Mason will be mine and finally we are getting engaged so you better forget about him.
He doesn’t need a lowlife like you. Now everything is back to normal “.
It even made me cry more as I stared at Arianna.
A sad smile made my face.
“You finally got what you wanted now can you please leave me alone.
You really find joy in seeing people miserable.”
I choked on my tears as they came rushing down.
“You won, you finally won but just know you’re a horrible person.
I hope you’re happy and I wish you and mason a happy life”.
With that I walked away as I started to cry.
It hurts even when I knew I was lying when I said I wish them a happy life.
I wish them nothing but them to be far from happiness.I know I’m selfish but I just want mason to myself.
I tried to forget him but it just makes me want him more . Now he h@tës me so much and wouldn’t look at me.
I cried so much but I got someone to pull me into a hug.
I just cried not looking at the person.
After I was done I looked up and saw it was Tyler.
I pushed him away but he held me.
“Avery I need…..
“Shut up Tyler and stay away from me”.
I turned around and walked past him but I stopped my track when I heard Tyler.
“Mason was forced to get married not because he didn’t love you at all”.
I turned around and looked at him.
“What!!”
“He was forced and it’s all because of me”.
