CHAPTER 77 & 78 (finale part 1)
(WHO DIES WHO LIVES?)

“Alex!” Sofie staggered back
“I’m not letting you marry another man with my child Sofia!” Alex exploded and gasps filled the hall
“What!” Anderson snapped and turned to her
“Hallelujah! ” the priest fanned himself with the Bible in shock
“What did you just say!?” Anderson turned to Alex
“I said,Sofia is carrying my child… she’s eight months pregnant with my child!” he thundered
“What is the meaning of this!?” Grandpa Paul exploded and stood up
The rest of the Xuan family stood up and grandma Daisy held him to calm him down
“Tell me he’s lying,th… that’s my child right?” Anderson stared at her with pained eyes
“It’s not true, believe me he’s—”
“Sofia!” Mr Xuan shouted and all eyes turned to him
“Stop this nonsense of yours! You and your mother have ruined this family, you’re a nightmare in our lives!” he thundered with his face as red as a tomato,he looked like he could explode at any moment
The paparazzi grinned from ear to ear as they recorded everything happily knowing that their pay checks will have so many zeros once they submit this
“Father in law please! He’s lying!” Sofia bursted into hot tears
“I will gladly do a DNA test because I know I’m telling—”
“Shut up!” Mrs Xuan snapped at him “You and your lover..” she pointed back at Sofie “Have disgraced us enough! It’s enough now!”
Anderson looked at Sofie with reddened eyes and slipped his ring out slowly
“Anderson…A.. Anderson please don’t do this I love you!” Sofie cried and held him but he reached for her hand and yanked it off and she staggered back in pain and shock
Anderson left the altar and walked towards Alex who instantly got scared and stepped back
He stopped in front of him and stared at him for a while before walking past him
Sofia stood at the altar sobbing,the paparazzi that were taking pictures of her didn’t matter to her…before she would shout at them,make a scene or try to keep her head high so she would trend on bad reasons but now that didn’t matter…she just lost everything
Her love and family…her dignity was already shattered and nothing made sense

AT THE HOSPITAL
“Get some rest I have to leave” Xavier muttered while caressing Catherine’s hand
“Where? You’re going to the wedding?” she looked at him
“No,I have to take care of something… I’ll send someone to pick you up later on once you’re discharged, that’s if I won’t make it on time” he said and she nodded and closed her eyes
He pecked her forehead gently and stood up and left
Once she made sure he was gone she opened her eyes and sighed
“Your father left us all alone” she pouted and rubbed her baby bump gently “Now it’s just you and I,how about I tell you a story? Okay here it goes”
she cleared her throat “Once upon a time,there was an ordinary maiden..”

XUAN MANSION
Grandpa Paul cleared his throat and leaned closer to Alex who was sitting across the table
“Now start from the beginning young man and don’t leave anything out!” grandpa Paul said sternly
Alex cleared his throat and sat up straight
“I’m Alex, Sofie and I are actually cousins…I didn’t know her till I turned eighteen…we met at her father’s funeral,it all started when they lost their house because her mom couldn’t cover the bills so my mom took them in,we started spending more time together and before we knew it our friendship escalated to a sëxual one..overtime we fell in love with each other” he explained
“So that’s how she got pregnant?”
“Not really…soon after her mom caught us and she told the family about it and we were told we can’t be together,we stopped seeing each other and before we knew it her mom dropped a bombshell that her bills were settled and they were moving to another town,I didn’t see her after
After three years I finally saw her,she had changed..she looked more classy and richer but the love was still there.We fell in love all over again and started dated,we thought the family would approve of us being together but we were wrong because when they found us they gave us a lecture and forbid us from seeing each other,our love was so strong that we decided to see each other secretly… everything went well after that…years after our secret affair I couldn’t take it anymore so I took the chance and went to tell her mom and ask for blessings…but that’s when I saw the other side of her—” he paused and shut his eyes
“Go on” Grandpa Paul said with a hint of curiosity
“Mrs McQueen turned into something else,she had me locked up in the basement for days,she kept telling me how dumb and stupid I am and that I’m not good enough for her daughter.This mark right here..” he pointed at his face “She instructed her men to give it to me as a reminder,a reminder that I should never mess with her family.When she let me go I tried to reach out to Sofia to tell her everything and ask her to run away with me because I knew she would love to but I was too late…they had already left town…until a few months back,life got better and I finally had a good paying job and started my own business which florished so I hired investigators to find her for me and when they did they told me she was pregnant and was in a relationship with your grandson,I saw a status saying she was five months pregnant but something seemed off so I got hold of her medical reports and it turned out she was actually seven months pregnant and I knew at that moment,that it’s my child…it all made sense why they skipped town with her mother in that manner because I knew she always updated me with everything but at that time she didn’t even reach out to me” he looked at Grandpa Paul and sighed
“Look son,I get you and I’m sorry for everything you went through but this was between you and her,you dragged my family into it whereas we knew nothing about this! My family name is tarnished because of the two of you!” he scolded
“I’m sorry sir I thought I was doing the right thing…but all I want now is to be part of my child’s life” he muttered
“Then what about your lover?” he arched his brow
“I don’t want her anymore” he said through gritted teeth

Sofie was currently sobbing in her room,the door opened and Millicent walked in with a proud smirk
“My oh my! Seems like the might has fallen!” she chuckled
“Leave me alone” Sofie muttered and sniffled
“No sweety,you leave this house” Millicent folded her arms “I told you your days here are numbered” she laughed
“I said get out!” Sofie lashed out at her and threw pillows at her
“This crazy witch is attacking me!” Millicent shrieked dramatically and ran out
“I h@të you!” Sofie threw a pillow at the closed door “I h@të you all!!” she screamed
She thrashed and sobbed into her palms,a knock on the window interrupted her
She looked at it in confusion and rushed to open the curtains after a moment
“Mom!” she called out in shock
“Open up! Hurry!” Miriam banged on the window impatiently
Sofie quickly opened the window and stepped back,Miriam jumped in and closed the curtains
“Pack your bags, we’re leaving!” she rushed to the walk in closet and took out Sofie’s clothes
“What!” Sofie followed her “Why..I can’t do that”
“Listen I don’t have time for your nonsense,get your suitcase!” she threw the clothes on the bed
“What about Anderson?” Sofie looked at her
“What about him? He left you at the altar all because of that boy” Miriam looked at her “I told you he’s bad news,wait till I get my hands on him” she spat
“Mom please let him go” she begged
“He ruined things for you! You still have time to protect him!?” Miriam snapped and stood in front of her daughter
“Mom please…” she sobbed “I’m tired”
Miriam looked at her and pulled her into a hug
“Everything will be okay, it’s over now… let’s pack your clothes and get out of here, alright?” she let go and held both her hands
Sofie smiled sadly and nodded
The door suddenly opened and Mrs Xuan barged in
“Pack all your belongings and get out of my—” she paused and gasped as soon as she laid her eyes on Miriam
Sofie and her mother turned to her and quickly let go of each other
“YOU!!” Miriam and Mrs Xuan shouted simultaneously

Xavier barged into the house burning in rage, Millicent was descending the stairs when she saw him and rushed to him
“Brother! You will not believe what happened!” she laughed
“Where is he? Where is your brother?” he looked around
“That’s what I was about to tell you,he left that witch at the altar,finally it’s over!” she breathed out and rolled her eyes
“Where did he go?”
“I don’t know I…where are you going!?” she shouted
He ignored her and left,as soon as he was in the car he called Matthew
“Boss!” he answered instantly
“I need you to track my brother for me,his phone location or his car” he said and hung up immediately
“Drive” he said to Don and he nodded and drove out

“Close the door!” Miriam quickly pulled out a gun and pointed it at Mrs Xuan
Mrs Xuan’s heart skipped a beat and she quickly shut the door
“Okay, please take it easy” she turned slowly “think clearly about this—”
“Shut up and lock the door” Miriam said sternly and Mrs Xuan did as she said “Now toss the key to me” she said and Mrs Xuan threw the key towards and she caught it and shoved it into her pocket
“M..Mom wha..what are you doing?” Sofia voice trembled
“Let me handle this sweety ,pack your bags so long” she instructed and Sofie nodded and rushed to take out a suitcase
“I got you now Bîtch! I got the upper hand and I’m going to make you suffer before I end you” Miriam spat
“Do your worst Bîtch” Mrs Xuan muttered with all the bravery she could muster
“Alright” she chuckled and shot her leg
Mrs Xuan screamed in agony and held her leg
Sofia jumped out in fear and her water instantly broke
“M..Mom!” she cried out as soon as a sharp pain hit her
Miriam snapped her head to her daughter
“Sh|t! J..Just hold on baby I’ll get help for you just breathe okay?” she said
Mrs Xuan limped quietly towards her and took a wooden sculpture on the mini table and hit Miriam’s hand that holding the gun and the gun flew from her hand
“You Bîtch!” Miriam immediately pounced on her and punched her face over and over again
“Mom stop! You’re gonna kill her!!” Sofie screamed and rushed to drag her mom away
Anger clouded Miriam that she pushed Sofie away and she lost balance and fell,her head hit the corner of headboard and darkness consumed as as she fell in a thud
Mirriam’s heart seemed to have stopped and she stared at her child’s unconscious body on the floor with blood oozing out of her head
“No…no” she shook her head in shock
Mrs Xuan reached for the wooden sculpture and hit Miriam on the head and she passed out and fell on her
She pushed Miriam’s body off hers and stood up,she looked at the blood stain on the sculpture and it shocked her to the bone
Mrs Xuan froze on her spot and looked at the two lifeless bodies on the cold hard floor
She lost grip on the sculpture and it fell to the ground.

AT THE HOSPITAL
Catherine sighed tiredly and checked the door from time to time,the door opened and her face lit up thinking it’s Xavier but frown when realised it was the doctor
The doctor closed the door and approached her and took off his facemask
“You!” she gasped
“My love,I came for you why do you look surprised?” he smirked
“What do you want Anderson? Aren’t you supposed to be at your wedding?” she stared at him in confusion
“Ohh that Bîtchy friend of yours isn’t so holy Afterall” he chuckled “Her lover showed up and ruined everything but he did good and saved me the trouble cos I was gonna cancel the wedding anyway..you know why?” he gave her a creepy smile that shook her to the bone
“W.. Why?” she stuttered
“Because I wanna be with you,only you..come with me, let’s run away together” he smiled
“No! Leave or I’ll call security I swear”
“Really? Okay” he quickly took out a cloth in his pocket and covered her nose and mouth with it
Catherine tried pushing him off but he tightened his grip on her,the stench of wh@tëver the cloth was damped in gave her a splitting headache and made her dizzy,she finally gave in and went numb under his grip and he grinned
“My love, we’re going home,you and I where no one can take you away from me..not even my dear brother” he laughed hysterically and lifted her up and placed her on a wheelchair
He whistled and put his face mask back on before wheeling her out
