Chapter 9
Nathan stared at Erik, surprised to see him smiling.
Kiara’s gaze was on the rabbit she was holding.
Erik’s smile disappeared when he noticed Nathan was staring at him.
He cleared his throat and folded his arms
“Did you read that from somewhere?”He asked
Kiara raised her head
“Do you have a pet,Kiara?”Nathan asked instead.
He knew Erik was impressed by what Kiara said but was trying not to show it.
“I had one when I was little. A dog”She said “But I had to give him out because my Step mom was allergic to fur” She said
Erik raised his brow at her when he heard her say the word ‘Step mom.’
“Step mom?”Nathan asked
“Uh…yeah,it’s nothing”She chuckled, trying to cover it up.
She shouldn’t have said that.
“Does he have a name?”Kiara asked Nathan, referring to Erik’s rabbit.
“No”Nathan answered
“Why?”She asked
“Mr Erik has no idea what name to give him” Nathan grinned.
Erik frowned at Nathan while Kiara turned to look at him.
“Really?”Kiara asked.
Erik stared at her with a blank expression on his face
“Can I give him a name?”Kiara asked Nathan with a smile.
“It’s my rabbit,why are you asking him?”Erik asked, feeling offended
“Yes”Nathan answered Kiara’s question.
“Is this a joke to you?”Erik faced Nathan
“You’ve had the rabbit with you for two years without having an idea what name to give and someone wants to help you with -”
“And who says I haven’t given him a name yet?” Erik asked
“You have?”Nathan asked,looking surprised
Erik cleared his throat.
“Yes”He lied
“What name did you give him?”Kiara asked
“There’s no need for you to know that”He said
“I’ve never heard you call him by his name before”Nathan said
“It’s not my fault you haven’t heard me say his name”He said to Nathan”And you…”He faced Kiara
“Are you here fawn over my rabbit or give me the docvment I gave you earlier”He said
“Right”She said and kept the rabbit back in its cage.
She opened her backpack and brought out the docvment.
She handed it to him.
He glanced through it.
“And this”She stretched out his handkerchief to him “I forgot to give it you earlier”She said
Erik stared at it before collecting it.
“I’ll be on my way then”She said
“You should stay for dinner”Nathan said
Erik looked at Nathan.
“Uh…Thanks but I really have to be on my way” Kiara said
“Next time then?”
“Sure”Kiara nodded with a smile.
Nathan smiled also
Erik tucked his hands in his pocket as he watched her leave.
He smiled again when he remembered the statement she made about people having different choices of pets.
“You haven’t named your pet,have you?”Nathan asked Erik after Kiara left.
Erik ignored him and began walking to his room
“You really told her she dresses like a highschool student?”Nathan caught up with him “I think she dresses just nice”He said “She’s nice also. And smart. No doubt she’s a really great assistant”
“Great assistant?”Erik scoffed.
Natasha and Kiara sat at the dinning room, eating together.
They finished cooking together some minutes ago.
“So,how far are you in earning Erik Zander’s trust?”Natasha asked
“Um…I think it’s going to take a while”Kiara said
“Of course, it’s not easy earning people’s trust,I know that but um…”Natasha cleared her throat “You probably know this already but just to remind you,when you’re trying to earn a person’s trust,you have to be really nice to them. Do things that’ll please them…”
‘Yeah, it’ll be really hard trying to please someone like Mr Erik’ Kiara muttered in her head.
“Don’t give him any reason to have negative thoughts about you. Do you understand?”Natasha asked
Kiara nodded.
‘i really wish I was the one doing this job myself’ Natasha muttered to herself.
“Also,try not to get attached to him” She said
“Attached?”Kiara asked
“Fall in love with him of develop a soft spot for him. It could get in our way”
“I’m not going to get attached to him”Kiara said and shook her head as she remembered how harshly Erik usually spoke to her.

Daphne stood next to Kiara at the entrance.
“You ready?”Daphne asked, taking off her sunglasses.
“I don’t know”Kiara shrugged”And why are you making it sound like we are heading to a warfront or something?”She laughed
“Girl, I need a positive energy and you’re going for a total wardrobe change so yeah,you can call it a warfront”Daphne nodded
Kiara shook her head and laughed as she walked in.
Daphne grinned as she followed her.
“Just so you know, I’m choosing my clothes”Kiara said as they both walked into the clothing section.
“Uh…No”Daphne disagreed “You’re only going to end up with the same kind of clothes you have”
“There’s nothing wrong with the clothes I have and no, I’m not here for a total wardrobe change. I just need formal dresses I can wear to the office” She said
“Don’t kill my mood”Daphne frowned at her. “Oooh,check out that jacket”She grinned and walked to a chic leather black jacket with tiny silver spikes on it.
Kiara rolled her eyes.
That was the exact kind of jacket Daphne loved.
She loved badass outfits and rarely wore girly outfits.
“Are you here to pick outfits for me or yourself?” Kiara asked
“Both”Daphne said
Kiara chuckled. “Come on”She pulled Daphne by the arm.
Daphne smiled and hung her arm around Kiara’s shoulders as they walked further into the section.
Kiara tried on the dresses Daphne picked out for her one after the other and checked it out in the mirror.
She liked most of the dresses and the few ones she didn’t like were returned.
“Try this on”Daphne smiled, handing her a tiny sleeved black dress
“I’m not buying dresses for a party,Daphne”Kiara said
“Who knows,you might need it for a office party or something plus I really wanna see how the dress would look on you”She grinned
Kiara sighed
“Fine”She collected it and went to put it on in the changing room.
She came out a few moments later.
“Wow”Daphne said as she stared at Kiara.
Her collarbone stood out beautifully and the dress hugged her sleek body perfectly, revealing her curves.
She looked really beautiful.
“You should get more of this dress. You need to dress more like this. You look really beautiful” Daphne said
“Thanks but I’m okay with the ones you’ve picked out for me and I’m not taking this one either”Kiara shook her head, glancing at the dress she was putting on
Daphne frowned.
“Fine but… You’re getting new bags and shoes ” Daphne said “No arguments”She raised a hand, stopping Kiara from refusing.
Kiara sighed before going to change into the clothes she came into the shopping mall with.
She came out a minute later.
“After we’re done shopping,the next thing on the list is having fun”Daphne threw her hands up happily.
Kiara giggled as she watched Daphne.
Her life would be really dull and lonely if she didn’t
have Daphne with her.
She was glad she had Daphne in her life though she could be annoying at times.
They left the shopping mall an hour later and went to drop their shopping bags at Daphne’s apartment since it was closer before going to enjoy the rest of the day.
