Chapter 25
“Mr Erik”He heard behind him and he turned only to see Ken.
A lady with glasses was also with him.

“Mr Erik”The lady said “You’re here too?”She asked in surprise.
“How do you know my name?”Erik asked her
“I work in your company. The lab”She said “I’m Emily”She introduced.
Erik nodded, remembering Kiara once mentioned her to him.
“Wow,I didn’t expect to see you here sir”Ken said.
“Why? I’m not allowed to have fun?”Erik asked, straight faced.
“I didn’t mean it that way. I was just…”
“Surprised”Emily completed Ken’s sentence.
“Likewise, I’m surprised to see two if my employees hanging out together”Erik said.
“Oh, we’re friends. Best friends” Ken said.
“Kiara!”Emily grinned when she saw Kiara walking to them with two cotton candies in her hands.
Kiara’s smile disappeared when she saw Ken and Emily with Erik and the happy look on her face was replaced by shock.
Erik turned to look at Kiara.
“Hey… Guys”She said slowly.
“Kiara, you’re here too”Ken smiled.
“Yeah,and you guys too”Kiara said, chuckling awkwardly.
“Mr Erik also”Ken made a gesture towards Erik.
“Oh,wow, we’re all here together. What a coincidence”Kiara said, pretending to be surprised to see Erik.
She didn’t want them to know she came to the park with Erik so they wouldn’t get the wrong idea.
“You came with Daphne?”Emily asked.
“No”Kiara shook her head.
“Then… Who’s the second cotton candy for?” Emily asked
“I… Actually got the two for myself”Kiara said
Erik raised a brow.
“I love cotton candies a lot”She added, faking a smile.
“So,have you gone on any of the rides yet?”Ken asked.
“Not yet”Kiara shook her head.
“Cool. We also haven’t gone on any of the rides yet” Emily said “We were thinking of trying that one out” She pointed at the tallest ferris wheel in the theme park “It looks fun,you wanna come with us?” She asked.
“Sure”Kiara smiled.
Ken smiled.
“Let’s go”Emily smiled also.
Ken and Emily turned, leading the way and Kiara made to follow them but stopped when Erik held her.
She looked back at him.
“You’re seriously going to leave me and go with them?”He asked.
“I thought you were coming also” She said.
“Oh, right”He muttered.
“Come on”She grinned, turning to leave but he stopped her again.
“One more thing”He said.
“What?”She muttered, looking at him inquisitively.
He smiled and took one cotton candy from her.
She chuckled as she watched him take a bite.
“Now we can go”He said and they both went to join Ken and Emily with Erik’s hand still wrapped around Kiara’s.
Daphne came out of a taxi while staring at the screen of her phone.
The tracker she put on Natasha’s car led her here.
So far,she hasn’t been able to get anything on Natasha despite the camera she planted in her office.
She was really good at keeping her affair a secret.
“I really hope I’m able to get that pic today”Daphne muttered as she walked to the hotel’s entrance.
She planned to sit somewhere around the reception and wait for Natasha and Thomas to come out. She was sure Natasha came to the hotel with Thomas.
She was about to get into the hotel when someone bumped into her.
She frowned immediately, looking up face the person.
She rolled her eyes seeing who the person was – Lex.
“I’m sorry”Lex apologized “Daphne”He said when he saw she was the one he bumped into.
“Are you stalking me now?”Daphne asked, though she was aware she was the one who met Lex at the hotel
“No. Why would I do that? And,I actually came here before you did”He said.
She rolled her eyes.
“Wait,what are you doing here anyways? I shouldn’t be asking but I clearly remember you wanting to show Kiara how sorry you are and now you’re in a hotel”She smirked.
“It’s not what you’re thinking. I didn’t come here with anyone. I came to see my dad”
“I didn’t ask for your explanation”She said “And,I don’t really care if you came here with someone or not and neither does Kiara. I was just messing with you. It’s not like you two are getting back together” Daphne said”Or…”She said again seeing the look on Lex’s face “Don’t tell me the reason you’ve been wanting to tell Kiara how sorry you are is because you want to get back with her”
“I…Well, I’m really serious about being sorry for what happened between us but I’ll be really glad if we can get back together again. Though it’s her choice, I’m not forcing her”He said.
“Wow, look at you being considerate. You’ve… Really changed”She muttered.
“I was a total jerk to Kiara. I know that”
“Good for you to know”She rolled her eyes.
“So,what are you doing here?” Lex asked her.
“Oh,crap”Daphne muttered when she saw Natasha coming down the stairs, towards her and Lex’s direction.
She turned her face away so Natasha wouldn’t see her.
“Wh…”Lex glanced back, looking confused.
“Darn, she’s going to recognize me if she sees my outfit” Daphne muttered “Hey” She tapped Lex’s arm “Cover me”
“What?”He asked,still confused.
Natasha was only a few steps away from them.
Desperate to hide herself,she grabbed Lex’s jacket and buried her face in his chest covering her face with his jacket.
Confused,but understanding that she was probably trying to hide herself,Lex wrapped his arms around her,covering her with his jacket.
She folded her lips, praying inwardly that Natasha wouldn’t see her.
Natasha walked past them, sparing them a glance before walking to her car.
Lex recognized her as Kiara’s stepmom but Natasha didn’t recognize him owing to the fact that he didn’t get to introduce himself to her during the times when he and Kiara were still a couple, probably because he was more concerned about Kiara meeting with his family than him meeting hers. He constantly h@tës himself for doing that to her.
Kiara peeped,moving Lex’s jacket away from her face a bit.
She saw Natasha enter her car and drove off.
She exhaled, feeling relieved.
She looked up to meet Lex’s eyes on her and for a while,she found herself gazing at his face.
His eyes which shared the same dark color with his medium length luscious hair stared down at her.
‘Has he always been this handsome?’ She senselessly muttered in her head as she stared at his thin pink lips.
“What’s wrong?”Lex’s voice brought her back to her senses.
She immediately stepped away from him and cleared her throat.
“Why were you hiding from Kiara’s stepmom?”He asked.
“I wasn’t hiding from her”She lied.
“You were”He said.
Daphne saw Thomas come out of the hotel also and got into his car,driving off afterwards.
She sighed.
There’s no way she would be able to get the pic again today.
“Darn, they’re really good at hiding”She muttered.
“Okay, I’m leaving now”She said and turned to leave.
“I’ll give you a ride home”Lex offered.
“No thanks”She said “And…”She faced him “Don’t think I’ve stopped being mad at you”She said and frowned at him before leaving.

“Oh,Mr Erik is getting on the ride too?”Ken asked when Erik and Kiara got to him and Emily.
Kiara nodded.
Emily looked down and saw Erik’s hand on Kiara’s.
Ken raised a brow, noticing it too.
Kiara traced their eyes and she immediately removed her hand from Erik’s when she saw that his hand was still on hers. She had no idea.
She chuckled awkwardly while Erik tucked his hands in his pockets and cleared his throat. He also had no idea.
“Oh, look they’re taking new passengers”Kiara said,breaking the awkward silence.
They were already close to the ferris wheel so only a few steps brought Kiara to it.
The rest followed her.
They got on the ride after going through the necessary procedures.
Erik sat beside Kiara at the front while Ken and Emily sat behind them.
“Oooh”Emily grinned as the wheel began moving.
Ken and Kiara had grins on their faces, in anticipation to the fun they were about to have.
Erik also had a smile on his face but his was as a result of the look on Kiara’s face.
The wheel slowly moved, bringing them to the top.
“Wow”Ken smiled looking down at the beautiful view of the city from where he was.
“Look”Kiara said to Erik, pointing.
He looked in the direction where her hand was pointed and saw the table where he and Kiara sat to eat corn dogs the last time.
He smiled.
The wheel soon began moving fast and they laughed in excitement except Erik who only smiled until Kiara nudged him.
“Come on”She urged him to join them.
He reluctantly joined them and found himself enjoying it.
Kiara smiled as she glanced at him.
He looked different than the cold Erik she knew.
Ken grinned as he stared at Emily.
It’s been a while since they had this much fun.

“Whoa, that was fun”Emily said after they got down from the ride.
“I wish Daphne was here”Kiara said to her.
“Yeah”Emily nodded.
“We should try some games out”Ken said. “It’ll be fun”He said.
Kiara nodded, facing Erik.
They all walked to a stall which Ken led them to.
He paid the man in it and he was handed some darts.
He handed three each to the rest and was left with three also.
“So, who’s going first?”Ken asked.
Kiara raised her hand.
She aimed for the middle of the target with her first dart but she missed. She used the second and third dart but still missed.
She sighed.
Ken went next. He also wasn’t able to hit the middle of the target likewise Emily.
“It’s not an easy game”Ken exhaled.
“It’s Mr Erik’s turn”Kiara smiled.
Erik tactically held up one of the darts, focusing on the middle of the target.
He threw the dart and it hit the middle.
“Wow”Ken muttered.
Erik threw the rest of the darts in his hands and they all hit the middle of the target.
“Whoa”Kiara and Emily said at a time.
Erik was given a teddy bear.
“You won a prize”Kiara smiled.
“You can have it”He handed it to her.
“Really?”She asked.
He nodded with a smile.
Emily and Ken exchanged glances.
