The cold breeze blew into her room as she wrapped herself in a thick blanket. She tossed and stretched.
“Oops!” She muttered, sitting up and rubbing her eyes. She glanced outside and saw that it was nighttime. The city looked beautiful.
She put on her cozy slippers and went into the bathroom. She turned on the shower and started bathing.
She paused when she felt a cold touch on her back, but it was just her imagination.
She sighed, finished her quick bath, and left the bathroom.
“Miss!…. Miss!” Someone called, knocking on the door.
Mirabella groaned as she put on her short nightgown.
“Hello, good evening,” she smiled, opening the door.
“Hello, this is what you ordered,” the delivery guy said.
“Oh, thanks” She smiled, taking the mini bag and shutting the door afterwards.
She threw the bag on the ground and sank into the bed. “I’m so stressed,” she MΓ΅@ned softly.
She picked up her phone, scrolling through the weekly news headlines. The D’angelo family news was still at the top. Many bloggers claimed her body was found in the sea, while others said she left due to shame.
People say a lot when someone’s not around.
But what hurt her the most was that she had hurt Vincenzo. What was she thinking when she poured unnecessary anger on him? He’s the perfect guy any woman would wish for, but she ruined him.
What if he didn’t survive the shot? She was pretty sure he must h@tΓ« her now. She thought as she slowly ate popcorn.
The fact that she was already two months pregnant made everything more complicated. How would she raise a child without financial help? The money in her account couldn’t even take care of herself, let alone the unborn child.
She sighed softly and bit her lip hard.
“I have to start over. Forget everything that’s happened,” she muttered. At this point, it was the best option for her and the unborn child.
The first thing was to find a job and try to fix herself in this difficult situation.
~SALVATOR MANSION~
“I’m freaking out already,” Bruno said, pacing around the living room.
“Where are my car keys?!” He shouted and groaned. “I give up,” he added, sitting down on the couch.
He rubbed his eyebrows and sighed.
“Looking for these?” Vincenzo asked, throwing the keys on his body.
“Oh yeah, thanks man” He said as he grabbed it and stood up.
“Are you okay? You haven’t gone to work for the past week” Bruno said and he exhaled.
“Look, you’ve got to brighten up your face, your FuΓ§king man!.. act like one” He said and pat his shoulder.
“See you later bro” He said, walking off.
‘Has anyone seen my new laptop?” Lorenzo said, walking out from Vincenzo’s Room.
“How many times have I told you not to go into my room, huh?” He shot and Lorenzo scoffed.
“Deal with it” He replied nonchalantly.
“Have you gotten any information on Mirabella?” Vincenzo asked,as soon as he picked the incoming call.
“No boss, I don’t thinkβ¦ I don’t think she’s alive”
“Vernon, what part of your body do you want off?”
“Uhm. Actually none” He replied and swallowed.
Vincenzo ended the call and threw his phone on the wall, resulting to it breaking into pieces.
“You have to take it easy Vee. Just take it easy” Grace said, coming into the sitting room.
just hope she’s safe wherever she is,” Grace said, hugging himself. “Take it easy, man. We’re here for you.”
“I can’t think of anything else right now. Where is she?” Vincenzo asked, running his hand through his hair.
“She’s dead,” Lorenzo interjected, making Vincenzo shoot him a furious glare.
“Get your face out of my sight, you motherf***ing jerk!” he spat angrily before storming out of the house.
“He won’t be back anytime soon. Renzo, try to watch your mouth,” Grace said, chuckling as he headed to his room.
“Ugh! I’m losing my mind dealing with these Salvatores. They’re the craziest family I’ve ever encountered,” she hissed, massaging her sore waist.
“d@mn! I need a relaxing massage.”
BLACK MANSION
“I still don’t get it. How is that possible?” Marco questioned over the phone.
“I don’t care what’s happened; just find Mirabella. Search for her!” he shouted.
After ending the call, he rubbed his forehead and poured himself a drink, downing it quickly.
A knock on the door caught his attention.
“You have a visitor, Boss,” a young lady said, bowing her head.
“Who is it?”
“It’s… It’s Vincenzo.”
Marco’s eyes shot open, and he stood up. “How dare he?” he muttered under his breath.
He grabbed his gun and the tequila bottle, then walked out of the room.
When his black eyes met Vincenzo’s, he smiled wickedly.
“What brings the great ‘god’ to my house?” he asked, his smile oozing insincerity.
“Do you know where Mirabella is?” Vincenzo cut straight to the point.
“Do you think I’d tell you even if I knew?” Marco retorted defiantly.
Vincenzo clenched his fists, his knuckles turning white with rage. “You’re playing games, Marco. I know you have something to do with Mirabella’s disappearance.”
Marco’s laughter filled the room, a bitter and mocking sound. “Oh, am I now? What makes you think that, Vincenzo?”
Vincenzo’s patience was running thin, and his eyes blazed with anger.
“Don’t act innocent, you slimy bastard. You’ve always had a hidden agenda.”
With a lightning-fast movement, Vincenzo lunged at Marco, fists flying. The two men grappled, crashing into furniture and knocking over objects. The fight was brutal, fueled by years of pent-up hatred.
“You think you can take what’s mine and get away with it?” Vincenzo shouted as he threw a punch at Marco’s jaw.
Marco retaliated with a swift kick to Vincenzo’s midsection. “Mirabella was never yours to begin with!”
“She’s mine @$$hOle!!”
“That’s what you think? Mirabella has always been mine and will be mine”Macro said, cleaning his mouth.
“Get out of here!. I don’t want blood stains in my house”
“What did you just say? Who’s blood stains? Mine or yours?” Vincenzo asked, and brought out his gun.
Marco pointed his too and they locked gaze with eachother.
“Do your worst big guy!” Marco said, in a mocking Tone.
“With pleasure” Vincenzo muttered, and shot his left arm.
Marco winced softly, he tried shooting him but he kicked off the gun and grabbed his neck, tightening his grip.
“Should I go ahead with my worst, ’cause that was just an intro?” He said coldly.
Marco chuckled before raising his eyebrows. Vincenzo pulled him away, making his head hit on the wall.
“You’ve done well,” He said, cleaning his body.
“No, I haven’t done a thing yet. I’m coming for you” He replied and walked out of the house.
He drove to the nearest clubhouse and settled in for the night. As expected, he had two attractive companions in bed with him, but it only satisfied his physical desires. Deep down, he felt empty and lost, thinking only of Mirabella. Perhaps it was time for therapy; he felt like he was losing control of his mind.
His phone rang, but he ignored it when he saw it was Lorenzo calling.
*****
“Gosh, can’t that idiot just answer?” Lorenzo muttered while trying to call Vincenzo, but there was no response.
“Can I pay you later?” Lorenzo asked the waitress, who rolled her eyes at him.
“If you knew you had no money, why come to this fancy hotel? I might just call the cops on you,” the waitress replied, annoyed.
“Are you out of your mind? Do you know who you’re dealing with? My brother owns this hotel, and I can decide when you get fired!” Lorenzo retorted, trying to assert himself.
“I don’t care. Just pay your bill; it’s only ten million dollars,” she said, unimpressed, and he scratched his head.
“If only this idiot would pick up.”
“I’ll cover it,” a woman’s voice behind him offered.
“Excuse me?”
“Here,” she said, using her debit card to settle the bill.
After paying, she started to leave, but Lorenzo grabbed her arm.
“You don’t mind having a drink with me, do you?” he asked.
“And you’re paying for the drink, right?” She raised her eyebrows, and he nodded.
“Okay,” she agreed, leading the way into the executive room.
The waitress served them champagne, and Lorenzo kept staring at her as if she were his prey.
“You shouldn’t have lied about your brother owning this place,” Adriana said, placing her bag on the table.
“So, you think I lied? Seriously, if you know who I am, you won’t say such sweet things,” he said as he sat down, crossing his legs.
“I’m Adriana De Niro,” she said, extending her hand for a shake.
“Lorenzo Salvatore,” he replied, and they shook hands together.
“So, what happened? Did you lose your card?”
“Yup, and my phone,” he responded.
“What brought you here?”
“Someone texted me that my boyfriend was in this hotel, so I decided to see for myself,” she muttered as she sipped her champagne.
“Did you see him?”
“I’m not discussing my personal life with a stranger,” she said with a smile.
“Are you sure about that?” He raised his eyebrows.
“Okay, my boyfriend, whom I’m supposed to marry next month, is having an affair with my best friend,” she explained, and Lorenzo’s jaw dropped.
“What the FuΓ§k” He cursed, and she burst into laughter.
“You look so innocent; I didn’t expect that from you,” she said, and Lorenzo scoffed.
“Innocent, my foot,” he said, taking a sip from his glass.
“So, what did you do? Tell me you kicked his balls, right? You did kick the hell out of him,” he asked, and she shook her head.
With a sigh, she said, “No, I didn’t. What’s the use of crying over spilt milk? I’m calling off the wedding.”
“What about you? How’s your love life, Mr. Salvatore?”
“Love life?” He asked and chuckled softly.
He stared at her and laughed. Adriana, on the other side, seemed rather confused about why he was laughing.
“I don’t do love, honey. If I want to FuΓ§k, I go to the clubhouse or better still, I get them over to my house”
“Whoa. Don’t you believe in love?”
“Like it’s a thing. Show me this love you talk about, the same love that makes you do stupid stuff? the same love that makes you sick? No!!!” He said, and Adriana frowned.
“Women aren’t some kind of doll!”
“Did I say, they were? Look, instead of hurting yourself through a thrash called ‘love’, why don’t you build a friend’s benefits kind of thing or even sΓ«x mates, that’s better.”
“I don’t like you, Mr. Salvatore. You’re so dirty and ewww” she said, grabbing her bag.
“Did I say something wrong?” He asked, licking his lower lip seductively.
Adriana’s eyes widened as he unbuttoned the first three buttons of his skirts. His milky skin came in a slight view and she could, swear, her face got heated.
She’s probably looking like a tomato right now.
“Why are you blushing? Do you like it when I do something dirty?” He asked, dropping the glass of champagne.
Adriana stood up and he stood. He took a step towards her and she took five steps backwards.
He scoffed and sucked his lip. “No, that’s not how it’s done, seΓ±orita. You should be the one begging” He muttered as he took five steps close and pushed her to the wall.
He pinned her, making sure his lips were closed to her neck. “I feel like you’re not comfortable, tell me a little mouse, are you wet?” He asked and Adrian exhaled.
“Get away from me! what are you a R@PE?
“I could tell one of you what, you just have to say please,” He said and she swallowed hard.
He brought his lips and kissed her neck, making her release a slight MΓ΅@n.
“FuΓ§k” she cursed.
‘I thought you were innocent?’ He smirked and walked backwards.
She breathed out and held her forehead. “I wish I never met you, @$$hOle!” She rolled her eyes, walking away.
“Hope you pay the bills!!” He half yelled with a grin, gulping down the wine.
SAN FRANCISCO***
“How’s the baby doing?” Mirabella asked, staring at the female doctor.
“Good. Are you in Pain?” The doctor asked
“No, uhmβ¦I usually get a slight headache, um pass out easily, I think it’s stress’ ‘ She said and the doctor nodded slowly.
“If I may ask, where’s your husband?” She asked and Mirabella’s facial expressions changed
“I don’t knowβ¦, he’s dead!” She replied and sipped her water.
“Oh my God, I’m sorry for your loss” The doctor sympathized.
“It’s okay, life isn’t fair” She replied and the doctor took a flier and gave it to her.
“You might wanna visit, I run a pregnant women’s club, especially for people like youβ¦ no offence”
“Uh no, it’s alright”
“It’s actually, every Monday morning and Friday night. Just a hangout, where people share their life experiences” The doctor said and she smiled.
After much talk, she got the necessary drugs and left the hospital. Telling the doctor, she had lost her husband was one of the worst lies she had ever told.
Getting home, she sluggishly dropped her bag. She stared at the window and smiled seeing a pregnant woman and her lovely husband who was making her smile by acting like a clown.
She chuckled softly and the thought of Vincenzo filled her head. What would he be doing If he was here? She’s pretty sure he would make a good father.
She recalled their silly moment and she blushed. She exhaled and looked away.
“I wish I could set things right with you again” She muttered, rubbing her stomach.
The night drew fast, the star-filled sky shined brightly on her face. Although she was slowly breaking down, she still looked incredibly beautiful.
She inhaled and exhaled, before kissing Vincenzo’s picture on her phone. Tears rolled down her eyes and she hugged herself tight.
“Wish you were here”
