ARCEA FACILITY**
“This way ma’am” A lady who worked at the facility guided Esmeralda to Brandon’s office and they bumped into him when he was about to leave
“My love! You finally made it” Brandon smirked and pecked Esmeralda’s cheek
“Hey” she muttered bluntly
“Sandy,you may go I’ll take it from here” Brandon muttered while staring at Esmeralda
The lady known as Sandy glared at Esmeralda and rolled her eyes before walking away while whining her waist
“Come on,let me show you around” he tried to hold her hand but she shoved them into her pockets
“Just.. don’t touch me… let’s please act professional” she mumbled and he nodded
“First up we got the lab centre” he said pointed at the huge metal door and they walked further to see everything through the glass window “And now the equipment room where we get everything we need” he pointed at the two white doors “But there are people working there to avoid stealing..they are given access cards”
“Which position am I filling exactly?” she stopped and looked at him
“You my dear,will be one of the scientists interns here,I did some background check and you’re pretty good at what you do including your grades but you need to be polished a bit” he stared at her “Anyway we have reached our next destination,the clinic” he pushed the doors in front of them open and they walked down the hallway passing through some empty wards “We are working on some project and we have some experiments that have gone wrong with our volunteers so do.. don’t freak out” he muttered nervously
“What do you—”
A loud bang on the glass window cut her off and she jumped out in fear
A woman with unkempt hair banged hard on the window
“Help me!!” she screamed her lungs out frightening Esme more
She looked so pale and sick,her eyes had gone into the sockets and her body was so lean that you could see her bones and her cracked dried lips were evident that it’s been long since she had a drop of water or some food
“W…What happened to her” Esme whispered in a shaky voice “Why won’t you let her out!” she lashed out and looked around and when she spotted a water dispenser she rushed to it and took a cup to fill it up but Brandon took it from her
“You can’t do that!” he threw the cup on the floor
“Why! She would die if you don’t help her!!” she pushed him
“She’s dangerous” he muttered “You don’t understand she’s…she will kill us if we let her out! It wasn’t supposed to happen like this!” he said on the verge of breaking down and walked away
“W..What do you mean by that?” she followed him “You made her like that? She.. she’s one of the volunteers that’s why yo..you—”
“Listen Esme,no one must know about this!” Brandon said in a hard tone
He turned to her and held her shoulders firmly and she winced in pain while shaking in fear
“N..No this is wrong!” Esme shouted and pushed him off “It’s wrong!” her eyes glittered with tears as she stepped back
She turned to look at the poor woman,She was too weak to scream now and she just mouthed her words and banged on the window more lightly this time
The tears that she had been holding back fell free and she glanced at Brandon one more time before running away
“Esme! Esme!!!” Brandon called her back but she paid deaf ears and raced down the hall
“Sh|t!” Brandon cursed and took out his phone
He quickly dialled some numbers and placed his phone on his ear “Come on pick up!” he shouted impatiently
“What!” a male voice boomed up
“We have a problem ” he muttered

**SOMEWHERE IN TOWN
Security guards approached a black jeep as soon as it came to a halt and they rushed to open the door
“Welcome Sir Antonio” the guards bowed and Prince Hades stepped out and Colton did the same
He nodded and made his way into the huge building with Colton following behind him
”Welcome to O’Brien Holding sir,how may I help you?” a new assistant approached them and Hades ignored her and passed the reception “I can show you around if you want or take you wherever you want to go!” she ran after them
“I know my way around thank you” Hades muttered bluntly and got into the lift with Colton trailing behind him
“What are you doing Eva!?” a young blonde girl rushed to her and dragged her away
“My job of course!” Eva yanked her hand from the girl’s grip
“Are you crazy! Don’t you know who he is? He’s the son and heir of the owner of the company!! He doesn’t need to be shown around!”
“What! Why didn’t you warn me!” Eva turned to her “Ohh my god I’m going to lose my job!” she panicked and paced around not knowing what to do
“I’m out” the girl huffed and walked away
“Kimberly where are you going !! You’re supposed to help me!!” Eva ran after her

“I didn’t know you came often to the human world?” Colton glanced at Hades,they were currently in the lift
“I don’t,I only came once..I guess these humans have a sharp brain” he chuckled
“And the name Antonio? D..Do I need to change mine too?”
“No,I just didn’t want them to know my real name” he shrugged
“Ohh..I think I’ll change mine too” he grinned making Hades chuckle one more time
The elevator opened and they walked to the CEO’s office,Hades didn’t knock and he opened the door making those behind it jump out
“Right,Yola take those files to the director” an older man voice out while trying to buckle his belt under the table
“Y..Yes sir” the secretary adjusted her skirt and reached for the files
She bowed slightly and ran out of the office,it was pretty clear what they were doing
“Did we interrupt something?” Hades raised his brow
“No..No..N..No sir not at all” the man chuckled nervously
Hades took slow steps towards the man and he shifted uncomfortably in his seat
“Move” he uttered and the man gulped down nothing and nodded before standing up
“B..But sir I have an online meeting in five minutes time with the investors” he stuttered
“I’ll take it from here,tell your secretary lover to bring the books and docvments to me.. you’re fired” Hades said with a straight face and opened a laptop
The man was about to explode on him when Colton held his wrist
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you” Colton smiled at him “Please leave quietly” he said and the man yanked his hand off before storming out
“Piece of nothing” Hades muttered with his attention fixed on the laptop
“Sooo,what am I?” Colton took his lip in and stared at Hades
“My new secretary lover” Hades looked up at him “Do you want to make love before we skip to work?” he smirked
“WHAT!!! I’m not gay!!” Colton shrieked dramatically and Hades bursted into laughter

ESME’S APARTMENT✯
Esme paced back and forth trying to call Kenneth but his phone was still switched off,a knock on the door startled her and she jumped out
“Who is it?” she asked but the person behind the door didn’t say anything
She decided to open when the person knocked harder and when she did she instantly regretted it and tried to shut it but Brandon put his foot at the door
“Stop being childish Esme” Brandon pushed the door open and came in
“What do you want!” she moved back
“Hey,I just want to talk” he said calmly and her anger and fear seemed to have melted away instantly judging with how her face softened
“You’re going to tell me how did that woman turn out to be like that?”
“Y..Yeah” he nodded and went to sit down and she followed suit “My mother worked at the facility before she died..two years ago” Brandon looked at her “Since the mysterious deaths in this city years ago, people getting sick and dying,my mom as a scientist made it her mission to create an antidote to help people of this town.She started with making a deal with local hospitals for the patient that have been bitten by an unknown creature to be taken to her lab for testing since they couldn’t help any of the patients” he sighed “She found out in the process that whenever they get bitten,the saliva of the creature that contains an enzyme that gets released into the victim’s bloodstream repairing all the other damaged enzymes and cells, basically it cures all the diseases the victim might have” he looked at her
“I don’t get it,we know that once someone gets bitten by this creature,after a day they get sick and they lose their sanity and eventually die…W..Was it a lie? Is there something else making these people like this?” she questioned
“No it does happen,my mom discovered that after the enzyme has done all the repairs it sort of multiply itself..the process takes exactly twenty four hours and after that it causes a virus somehow that makes the victim sick and lose their sanity” he stood up and went to lean against the wall “My mom realised by that time that the process could help a lot of people,the only she needed to do was to make an antidote to prevent them from getting sick and she did”
“I’m lost,this is too much to take in and process” Esme shook her head in confusion
“Listen the process was quite simple,all they had to do was to transfer the enzyme in one’s body and it will repair the dead cells and cure all the diseases one might have,after it’s all done they then have to inject the person with an antidote to kill that enzyme before it multiplies and create a virus” he shrugged and went to sit next to her
“It could save millions of people,but what does the woman have to do with it?” she turned to look at him
“After my mom did all that a man who had been bitten by the creature was sent to the lab and she did the process and it worked,he was cured and got even more healthier than ever,all she needed was a non bitten person to test if it’ll really work” he played with his fingers “She went out to find a volunteer and found that woman you saw, she spent almost all her life in the streets and she was sick and didn’t mind being used so my mom took her and used the enzyme collected from the saliva remaining on the bitten victims she had back at the lab—”
“But why didn’t she use the infected victims?”
“Most of them were on the verge of dying and some the virus had already spread everywhere so she couldn’t use any of them, anyway she did the process and it went well,the only thing that was left was the antidote..” he paused and swallowed hard
“And then what happened?”
“She died,my mom died the very same day she was supposed to give the woman the antidote,the doctors said there was nothing wrong with her and it was probably a natural death but till this day I still don’t believe it” he said lowly with a hoarse voice “The antidote was never found since only my mom knew where it was and 24 hours passed and the virus started spreading on the woman’s body and she eventually lost her sanity,we tried to let her go but she bit one of the doctors and they got infected too,setting her free would put a lot of people in danger Esme..” he muttered and held her hands “You have to promise me Esme,that you won’t utter any of this to anyone” he stared deep into her eyes
“I…I—”
“Promise me please ” he begged
“Okay” she nodded slowly “I..I promise and I’m sorry about what happened to your mom” she muttered
“Thank you” he pulled her into a hug “I love you Esme and i really mean it,I know it’s too sudden but I really love you” he mumbled
Esme froze as he said those words and took a while before she wrapped her arms around him,they stared at each as they disengaged from the hug
Brandon leaned in closer and stared at her lips,Esme didn’t know what to do and she shyly looked away and he placed his fingers under her chin and tilted her head towards him
“I love you” he whispered and kissed her tenderly
Esme nervously balled her fists and he yanked her waist making her gasp,he took that opportunity to slide his tongue in and deepened the kiss

O’BRIEN MANSION**
“Now this is heaven” Colton grinned as he pulled his luggage into the mansion
Everything was in colour black with a touch of grey,white and gold but it was still elegant and classy,the floor was spotless that one wouldn’t mind eating straight from it,the ceiling was beautiful with breathtaking decorations on it,the chandelier was beautiful with real pearls on it..it was probably the most expensive one of all
Prince Hades followed behind Colton and a maid ran to take his luggage but he refused
“You can go home,tell everyone else too..I won’t need any of you” he said to the maid
“B..But sir we .we need the jobs please don’t—”
“None of you is fired” he cut her off “I just don’t need any of you, your payment won’t be affected or cut off” with that he dragged his luggage upstairs and Colton followed him
The maid beamed with joy and immediately ran away to let the others know
“Why did you let them go?” Colton asked behind Hades
“I don’t like strangers doing things for me not do I want anyone moving around my property and disturbing my peace,I have hands I can do things by myself” Hades muttered and walked into his room
“That’s really strange but okay as long as it doesn’t affect me living heavenly like this I don’t care” Colton chuckled and stood at the door
“You room is at the end of the hallway,close the door on your way out please” Hades muttered and opened his suitcase to unpack his clothes
“Okay” he shrugged and turned to leave but stopped and turned back to Hades “Have you ever felt like something about your life will change in the most drastical manner?”
“No but I know what you mean” Hades shrugged
Colton smiled and nodded before leaving,Hades sighed and threw the clothes on the bed and went to stand near the window,he stared outside and took a deep breath
“I know what you mean Colton and i feel the same way” he muttered under his breath
