SEDUCTION

CHAPTER THREE: Revelations and Plans

NOTE: the male lead name is no longer Morton
but ARTHUR.

“But sir, do you think you should
go this far?” George mumbled, his concern
evident. “As far as I can tell, I didn’t get any intel
on this girl; she is as clean as a sheet.”

Sitting down on the couch, I looked at George.
“It’s been two days, and you haven’t found
anything?”

“The only thing I could dig up was this.” He
handed over a file. Taking it, I scanned through
the contents. “She was R@PED when she turned
nineteen.”

“R@PED?” I mumbled, my brows furrowing. It
struck me that when I asked for her body count
earlier, she turned pale and walked away. “By
whom?”

“Edwin’s personal assistant,” George mumbled.

“He wasn’t arrested?”

“No. Intel has it that Edwin and Lacey were
dating during that time, but when this occurred,
he believed his assistant over his girlfriend.”

“And this happened before the bastard traveled
out?”

“Yes, sir.”

Dropping the file, I frowned. How could my
brother be this stupid? It was evident that she
wasn’t lying. Picking his personal assistant’s
side over Lacey was a terrible move. “I also
found out where she works.”

“Excellent.” Getting up, I moved to my drawer,
pulled out another cigarette, and lit it up. “Buy
the company. I’ll head over there tomorrow as
their new boss.”

“I thought you only wanted a one-night stand
with her?”

“I did.” Blowing out smoke, I looked at George.
“There’s something I want to know about her
before I move forward. The fact that she was
R@PED won’t allow me to do anything to her.”

“What do you mean?”

“I’m pretty sure she despises physical touch
now.” A frown crept onto my face. I might be a
creep who sleeps with anyone wearing pink
underwear, but I do have a little bit of heart. “I’ll
let her warm up first before dealing with her.
What I need you to do now is buy that company
today.”

“Alright.” George frowned. “You really need to
get your own apartment.”

“Then buy one for me. Put it in the list of things
you need to do.” I mumbled. “And remember,
buy the entire building. I won’t need neighbors.”

“I’ll get it.”

“Call Lacey’s father. Tell him I’m interested in
getting married to his daughter.”

George choke on his coffee”Marriage?”

“Indeed.”

“Why is that?”

“There’s something I saw in that file that made
me want her more.”

“What is it?” George looked at me with curiosity.

“You need not know.”

“Not fair, sir.”

“She is the girl.”

“You mean the little girl who thought you
wanted to kill yourself?”

“Yes.” I smiled, dragging on the cigarette, feeling
the burn inside me. “What a small world, right?”

“Are you sure?”

“I am.” Nodding, I pointed at the file. “In the file,
it mentions her missing on that date and talks
about her elder brother who committed suicide.”

“You’re right.”

“I know.” I clenched my hands, determined to
eliminate the bastard who had touched her in
such an ungodly way. “One more thing, George.”

“What is it?” George met my dead gaze, and he
flinched. “Who are we killing?” he immediately
asked, and a smile crept onto my face.

“Edwin’s personal assistant,” I mumbled. “In the
process, beat up Edwin a little. It annoys me
that he let that happen to a girl.”

” Consider It done,” George mumbled.

It felt like the day was repeating
itself once more — the nightmares, the routine
of showering, preparing for work, and the forced
breakfast with my father.

“Good morning, Father,” I mumbled as I pulled
out a chair.

“Morning,” he looked rather happy, an
uncommon sight.

“You’re smiling,” I remarked, curious about the
rare expression.

“This comes out because, for the first time, I’m
proud of you.”

“What do you mean?” I dipped my coffee and
looked at him, eager to understand what had
pleased him.

“Arthur Norman called earlier, saying he would
like to marry you,” he said with an air of finality.

“I don’t want that,” I protested.

“Do not start with your useless arguments. He is
well-established, and his family is part of the
major,” he explained.

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“He is the major’s nephew — well-established
and rich.”

“Father!” I exclaimed.

“Enough with all these,” he growled, standing
up. “You will marry him, and it’s final.”

“This is why brother killed himself,” I yelled,
standing up. “You are a good-for-nothing father,
and I…” His slap across my face silenced me.
Tears welled in my eyes.

“Do not bring your brother into your foolishness,
” he said before leaving. I sat back on the chair,
feeling horrible, my chest and cheek hurting.
Anger flow in my body,Why was Arthur so
interested in marrying me?

I was sure we didn’t start off on the right foot.
So why?

To think he was Edwin’s cousin — I can’t be
with him. Losing my appetite, I got up from the
chair, grabbed my keys, and headed to work,
hoping Sir Ethan wouldn’t fire me this time.

Grabbing two coffees and a sandwich on the
way, I rushed to the company. Upon entering the
elevator, I pressed the first floor after others
dropped at their desired floors.

Getting out of the elevator, I moved towards my
desk, dropped my coffee, and walked into his
office. “I’m sorry I’m late I…” I stopped talking
when I noticed who was sitting in Sir Ethan’s
chair. “You?” I moved closer, dropping the
coffee and sandwiches on the desk.

“I h@të sandwiches,” he growled. “You should
have gotten something better.”

“Mr. Arthur,” I placed my hands on my hips, “you
can’t be in here.”

“Why not?” He questioned, looking completely
clueless. “I’m putting on a suit, right?”

“You don’t work here.”

“I do now.”

“What?”furrowing my brows I stare at his smirk

“This is my company.”

“What?” I gasped.

“I bought it just to be able to talk to you each
day.”I watch how he stand to his feet and move
closer to me, standing three inches away, he
repeat himself ” I bought it just to be able to talk
to you each day, to see your beautiful face”
hearing that from him made made me frown,
usually I blush at silly things but this man is
annoying.

“You called my father about marrying me?”

“I did.”

“Why would you do that?”

“Why? To marry you,” he stated plainly.

“You don’t even like me.”

“Do I have to?” He stepped closer, and I nodded.

“You can’t marry someone you know nothing
about or even love.”

“Love, no. But we can start with like.” He smiled.
“Love grows anyway.”

“You’re unbelievable.”

“Lacey.” He suddenly became serious. “Will you
be happy if I say I’m obsessed with you?” My
face flushed at that admission.

“Of course not!”

He shrugged. “Then I like your arse.” I watch
how he slowly light up his cigarettes” am sure
you are satisfied with that ”

” I have no plans of marrying you!”

” Why is that?” He step closer, blow the smoke
right at my face ” you have someone you’re
head over heels for?”

” Matter of fact, yes!”

” Hmm” He sat back in the chair. “Get back to
work, Miss Lacey. And do bring my schedule for
this day” His expression suddenly changed. I
had desire to speak more but the look he gave
me made other thoughts vanish

He can be scarry.

“Excuse me.”I mumble, getting agitated.
