CHAPTER THIRTY TWO: CHRISTINE APPEARANCE 2
George stare at her, how her body tremble, even her lips tremble” don’t leave me” she beg while her eyes meet mine ” please ” pulling my hands from her, I exhale, angry at the fact that she thought am actually married.
” Monica” I step forward to speak on this matter more but she withdraw, wave her hands for me to stop and then throw up for the second time, I blink at that, could she be sick? Food poison?
” Am sorry, I have not been feeling well ”
That rise my suspicion” when did it start?”
” Last week ”
” What are your symptoms?”
” My symptoms?” She furrow her brows and lean on the wall, suddenly looking dizzy ” why are you asking all these?”
” Are you feeling dizzy ” she nod and I swiftly lift her up in my arms, back into my apartment, I stare at Alexandria who is seated comfortably on my couch, ignoring her, I move to the bedroom, gently drop Monica on the bed and exhale ” are you okay?”
” All these don’t matter ” she sit up ” is she really your wife?”
Taking off my jacket, I look at her ” I thought it doesn’t matter, you said you don’t care ”
” I don’t but….”
” But what?” Dropping my jacket, I sit at the edge of the bed and watch her ” what is it?”
” It hurts” she gasp ” it hurt to think you are married to someone else, it hurt to think that you just use me as your mistress”
” Oh ” watching the different emotions that dance in her eyes, it brought smiles to my face, she is jealous and from what happened earlier, it’s obvious she loves me ” do you think, if I am really married, my wife will permit me to bring a woman in my bedroom while she is in the living room?”
Monica suddenly look confused, she shake her head ” does that mean?”
” Alexandria” I mumble ” she is my ex wife ”
” Ex wife?” She mutter, looking somewhat relief and angry ” so you are divorced?”
” Yes ”
” Why don’t you ever tell me anything about yourself?” She frown ” you know everything about me, but you keep hiding things about your life from me ”
” Monica”
” And you expect us to get married?” She scoffed” don’t be stupid ”
” Are you angry?” My brows furrowed” am I not allowed to have secrets or an ex wife?”
” No” her hands fold ” you aren’t allowed to have secrets, George. I can see why she divorced you ” her eyes darted away, I exhale out of surprise and annoyance ” having secrets and yet telling someone you want to marry them? How stupid ” there she go again, insulting me.
” Don’t you think it’s wrong to insult your future husband?”
” Am not marrying you” her words felt like sharp arrow to my chest.
” What?”
Those blue eyes of hers meet mine ” not until I learn everything about you, am not marrying a stranger ”
” What are you saying!”
” All we do is sëx!!!” She retorted, that too in a high tone” I want you to tell me things George, I want to know you, a side that even Arthur doesn’t know ” I laugh, standing up and running a hand through my hair, what is she saying right now? Isn’t that going too far ” sometimes I wonder if I and Arthur were drowning, who you will save ” her eyes remain on mine.
” Are you expecting me to answer that?” She nod, her facial expression serious ” I will save you ”
” Why?” I look at her, isn’t that what she wanted to hear?
” Arthur can swim ” I mumble and she fake a laugh, one that could tell how annoyed she is
” Get out ” she frown.
” This is my room ” I furrow my brows but her glare made me step back.
” Get out” Her voice calm, which made me fear for my life
” Yes ma ” walking out of the room, I shut the door and look at Alexandria who is drinking one of my very precious wine ” what are you doing ” moving close, I grab it from her hands ” get out ”
” Is this how you greet an old friend that just returned home?”
” Atleast you should have called ” I frown ” not stepping in here and making a mess of my relationship”
” Wow” she stood up and look at me ” you divorced me for that?”
” She is far beautiful than you will ever be ” holding her hand, I drag her out of my apartment ” I don’t wish to see you ever again ” before I could turn around, she hold my hand.
” Do you think I will come back here if I don’t have something serious to say to you?” I look at her, she let go of my hand and clear her throat ” do you have any idea how your child have been living without a father?”
Those words came has surprise to me ” what are you saying?”
” The moment you left me, I found out I was a month pregnant…I tried getting hold of you but guess what, it took me this long to track you down ”
” You’re joking” I chuckle, look back and glad Monica isn’t there ” lies ”
” What are you saying?” She frown but I didn’t pay any more attention to her, went in and shut the door, running my hands through my hair, I stand confused.
My child?
That’s impossible.
Lacey still couldn’t understand all what is happening, all three of them sit down in a coffee shop, my gaze move to meet a confused Arthur, his eyeballs keep darting around, he must be finding this difficult to believe, just like me ” so you’re saying ” I force the words out ” you’re Christine?” She nod her head
” That’s my name” her eyes meet mine, brown eyes, dark hair, they is nothing unique about her, I wonder why Arthur became obsessed over her” do you know me?”
” Of course not ” I mumble ” not physical”
” What I need to find out is why he keeps wandering in my dream, every night I dream about him and it’s always the same scene”
” What is it?” Arthur curious tone angered me for some reason ” what is your dream about ”
” Do you need to know that?” I growl at him, his face meet mine, he seem confused as to why I h@tëd his curiosity
Christine look down ” it’s not something I will be able to say out” Arthur didn’t reply to that, so she slowly meet his gaze ” we were kissing ”
” Oh ” that was his response, short and somewhat annoying, deciding to jump into this conversation and end it as fast as possible, I hold Arthur hand, I didn’t expect him to look this affected after seeing her.
” We are leaving ” I stand to my feet and look at Arthur, he couldn’t tear his gaze from her face, it almost seem like past lovers are reunited ” Arthur!!!” I growl and he quickly stood up, clear his throat and mumble.
” Am sorry, we won’t be able to help you ” I frown at his choice of words, am sorry? What exactly is he sorry about? That he can’t spend more time with her? I can see it in his eyes, he want to talk to her even more.
Before we could leave, Christine, hold his hand, I watch Arthur look at her hands, he even tremble a little at the slight touch, what is going on here, is they something about them that I have no idea of? ” Can we please stay in touch?” She look at me ” I know he is your boyfriend but I will appreciate if you two can help me out ”
” We can’t ” I slap her hands from his and look at her, I could see her true intent in all these, it’s a fact that she haven’t lost her memory, not a single one of them ” excuse us ”
Walking out of the coffee shop, I let go of Arthur hand, we sit in the car and I release my rage ” you are sorry?” I growl but he didn’t look at me ” don’t tell me you wanted to talk to her even more ”
” Lacey ”
” I just don’t understand you, why were you looking at her like that? Why were you so interested in her?”
” Is not what you’re thinking ” he clean the sweats forming on his forehead ” Christine is not someone I can just forget ”
” What do you mean?” I look at him, confused by his statement ” you can’t forget her?”
” Is not like that ” he clear his throat ” I just…….I was just surprised to see her and everything”
” Wow” folding my hands I just couldn’t believe him right now ” why aren’t you looking at me ” he didn’t reply nor did he look at me ” Arthur!!!” Yelling, our gaze meet ” so you still feel something for her?”
He nod ” pity ” I frown ” I feel pity towards her, looking at her, I just couldn’t believe the fact that she is alive, I couldn’t believe the fact that I pushed her off that height and she is still alive ” he clench his hands ” I was sorry because I didn’t finish her off, for the first time I did a bad job at killing someone and now it’s hunting me ”
” What do you mean ”
” It’s obvious lacey ” I smile ” she want revenge, memory loss? What a joke. I know Christine, I know the kind of woman she is, she will want to punish me with her own hands ”
Looking at him, my anger increase ” why are you smiling?”
” Because it’s exciting ” he turn on the engine, I notice how excited he wants this new event in his life be, just as I expected, an ordinary woman as myself can never make him happy for long, with how happy he looks, I know he wants to meet her soon, am sure of it.
That look. That was the look he gave me the first day we met, on that blind date….his new toy.

” What’s wrong ”
” Stop it!!!” He did exactly as I said, opening the door, his hand grab mine, confusion in his eyes.
” Lacey? What is wrong ” pulling my hands out of his, I shut the car door and call a taxi, getting in, my hands clench as I stare at Arthur confuse expression.
How can he look so happy about another woman? When am right next to him, how could he.
He should only be obsessed about me, me and no one else!
