CHAPTER TWENTY SEVEN: ELIS DEATH
Snow sigh, as usual Alucard is nowhere to be found in the morning, moving to the dining room, Leo stood there in his usual butler uniform, I thought he left ” I trust you slept well milady ”
” yes thank you” I smile back at him, glad he is back ” I thought you left Leo”
” I can never leave my lord, I just need to set some things straight back at home ”
” oh ” I nod before staring at the table, the little Elis and Levitt eating calmly, sound of fork and knife but none talk nor gaze my way, shaking my head I glance out the window, grey clouds hung low in the sky, broken by an occasional flash of lightening, I had always love storms, the thunder, darkness, the soothing sound of rain pouring down on the roof ” will lord Alucard be coming down for breakfast?”
Leo shook his head ” my lord has offered you the shelter of his home until the storm passes”
” did he?” I sip the coffee place on the table, Levitt gaze suddenly rise to my direction, he look gloomy.
” miss snow, I know you think yourself is in love with lord Alucard ” Levitt words came out harsh ” it is true that my lord has a certain appeal that most women find hard to resist ”
” I didn’t realize my feelings were so transparent ” I muttered dryly.
Levitt lean close across the table, his voice somber ” you must believe me when I tell you is not safe for you here” I frown, Alucard had said exactly the same thing the night before.
” I don’t understand ”
” lord Alucard is a man compelled by dark appetites milady, appetites he can not always control, you would be wise to leave this place and never come back ” Leo whisper ” I say this because I view you as my little sister I lost centres back ”
” dark appetites? ” I shake my head ” wh@tëver are you two talking about?”
Leo glance at the door then back to me ” I can not explain milady, all I can say is that my lord is not like other men, he is driven by forces you can not understand, that is why he lives in solitude ”
” I don’t believe you, if he is such a monster why haven’t he hurt me”
” I have said too much already miss” Leo took a deep breath ” go home snow, as soon as the storm stop, go home” my gaze move to meet Levitt who is back to his meal, he shrug as his met mine.
” a word is enough for the wise ”
Alucard felt his anger bubble to the surface, how dare Leo and Levitt interfere in my personal life! What right do they have to warn snow away from me, muttering an oath i took a deep breath, the anger washing out of me between breath and the next.
They had said nothing that I haven’t said myself, if snow is wise, she will heed to this warning and flee.
I have no illusions about what I am, I reek of evil, of death, I have done things, horrible things, committed acts that have damned my soul forever, No matter that i had chosen this life for myself, once the deed has been done but I could have ended it, right after the war, I could have walk into the sunlight and destroy the creature I am now.
I had become a vampire, to spend my life in darkness, forever at the mercy of the dark gift, to live in shadows, to exist on the blood of others or perish.
Vampire, the word echo and reechoed through the corridors of my mind, as the familiar darkness encompass me once again.
She was still in the house when i woke up, of course I had made a deal for her to stay here for the next six months but that was a mistake, things will go wrong
Even men has weakness.
Alucard bath, change his cloth then leave the tower, I hurried downstairs only dimly aware that a storm has broken out, no way I can send her away even if I wanted to .
Snow was sitting in the piano room, her hair fall all over her, for a moment I stand at the door and watch her, she wore a gown of pale green velvet tied with a dark green slash, her slippers were of same dark green, a slender gold chain circled her throat.
As though suddenly aware of my presence, she turn around then look up at me, her cheek turning rosy when she realize I was staring ” good evening my lord ”
” good evening sweet snow “I enter the room on silent feet then sit down on the chair next to her ” you aren’t playing”
” it seems like I have forgotten how to my lord”
” that’s nonsense ” I smile” give it a try”
” my lord i don’t…. ”
” close your eyes and give it a try” watching her play, it started all over again, the lust, hunger, thirst, the feeling slowly rising in my body, she always had this power of making me want it.
Want her very essence.
” excuse me snow ” standing to my feet I watch her stop then quickly hold my hand, I growl, the beat of her blood in her veins render me motionless, my fangs elongating.
If am to touch her, I will kill her, it will be murder!! ” don’t touch me!” Growling I watch her step back, fear register in her eyes.
” what is wrong”
” you can not get the happy ending you wish for snow ”
” please talk to me Alucard ”
Hiding my elongated nails I swallow ” right now ” my red eye glitter ” I feel like killing you ”
” wine, you need wine, I will get you wine ” before I could reply she run out of the piano room, closing my eyes I try calming my nerves down, calming my body gently, gradually ” your wine ” she is fast, collecting the glass of wine I gulp it all down but unlike before it taste bitter.
The blood Leo always put in it is not enough anymore, letting the glass fall I look at snow, watch how worried she is, am not even close to alright ” I need Levitt ”
” what!!” Jealousy dance in her eyes.
” I need Levitt d@mn it” I growl, slowly losing my mind ” call him ”
” No ” she growl ” wh@tëver you need I will give it to you ”
” you will die ”
Elis run into the piano room., her eyes moving to meet mine ” my lord you look…..” I didn’t permit her to finish before pulling her close and piercing my fangs into her neck.
I heard snow gasp but I was too hungry to stop, I kept on drinking, forgetting that Elis is struggling to remain alive, the hunger is still there and I just couldn’t stop.
When I could taste no more blood I let go of her body, she fall down dead, my gaze move to a trembling snow, her hands over her mouth, standing up she step back, fall and scream ” No!!!”
Clenching my hands I smile ” this is why I embrace no one, they all end up dead ” snow gaze remain on the floor as her body tremble with fear.
She is afraid after all.
