CHAPTER 15⚔️16
Evelyn woke up early the next morning.She got up from the bed and went to take her bath.
She was done dressing up in no time and she went outside the verandah to wait for Charles.
She rested on the car and admired the beauty of the mansion.It was so big and beautiful.
“Good morning,beauty”she heard someone say and when she turned she saw Martins.She smiled and nodded in reply.
“What are you doing out here early this morning?”asked Martins as he stayed beside her.
“Am waiting for Charles and also enjoying this cool weather”said Evelyn and her eyes widened.She just addressed him as ‘Charles’ and not ‘sir’.
“You must be closer to the boss to call him by his name without any fear”said Martins.
“No, mind my manners but sincerely I don’t feel comfortable addressing him as ‘sir’.”said Evelyn and Martins chuckled.
“You can address him anyhow when you are with me but don’t dare do that amidst others.You don’t want to know what will happen.”said Martins and Evelyn bursted into laughter.
Martins stared at her and he could say that she had the most enticing and beautiful laughter he had ever seen.She was just too beautiful to be human and he couldn’t stop himself from falling for her.
“So are you trying to tell me that my secret is safe with you?”said Evelyn amidst the laughter and Martins nodded before joining in.
Charles woke up earlier than usual.He didn’t want Lady Alicia to create a scene in front of Evelyn.He walked downstairs and didn’t see Evelyn.He looked around and couldn’t get a glimpse of her.
Ignoring the greetings from the maids,he walked towards the verandah and he met her laughing heartily with Martins.
His eyes darkened again and his long-supressed anger surged in his heart again.
He walked in them angrily and didn’t waste time to pull Evelyn towards him almost to his chest.
“Seems like you don’t know your job as a bodyguard.You are to stand in front of my door till I come out and come downstairs with me not come downstairs alone and have some useless talk like a jobless nobody with an unserious fellow”Charles said harsh as he cupped Evelyn’s face with his hands.
Evelyn whimpered in pain and she struggled to get free from his grip but that only made him tighten his grip.
Martins watched and he knew he had to do something before the boss hurt Evelyn.
“Sir, you will get late for work”said Martins and that brought Charles back to his senses.
He stared at Evelyn and he could see his fingers dug deep into her skin as blood ooze out of it.
He carefully let her go and he got into the car as he buried his face in his arms.He couldn’t believe he showed her the monster in him.
Ever since he lost his parents,he had always found it hard to manage his anger and he always went wide whenever he got angry.
Over the years,he had trained himself never to get angry no matter the situation but within the time Evelyn came he had gotten angry twice.
He even lost his anger just now and he almost hurt her.He couldn’t keep on going like this and there’s no way she was going to be with a man like him
Evelyn held her cheeks in pain and she won’t what went wrong with him.He looked like a monster and his eyeballs were reddish compared to the calm Charles she had always known
She wondered if he was mentally ill or he had anger issues but regardless of what it was she was willing to find out.
They got to the company and Charles hurriedly got out of the car avoiding eye contact with Evelyn.
Evelyn followed him and they didn’t exchange a word till they got to the office.
Charles sat on his chair and shut his eyes as he reflected on what happened earlier.He feel like she would be afraid of him and won’t talk to him like she used to anymore.
“Sir,are you okay?”asked Evelyn as she bent her head to look at his face.
Charles opened his eyes and saw her face so close to his face.Her lips were just a few inches apart from his and he felt drown in how plump they looked.
Right before he could come to his senses,he pulled her closer making her sit on his laps.He gently rubbed her cheeks were he had hurt her and he felt sad that he caused her pain.
“Am very sorry,Eve.I didn’t know what came over me”said Charles as he rubbed her cheeks.
Evelyn watched him and she could see hurt in his eyes but she couldn’t figure out why.It was the first time someone felt sad and apologized after hurting her and she somehow felt drawn towards him.
Charles leaned his face closer and was about to kiss her when the office door barged open.Evelyn hurriedly got up from his lips and she looked down shyly.
Charles’s eyes turned cold as he stared at Michael while Michael had a mocking smirk on his face.
“What the hell are you doing here, Michael”yelled Charles
