The days progresses, but Rose never bothered about talking to Gift at all, she goes to school, streams and does things on her own which she usually do together with Gift.
Gift was marvelled at Rose’s attitude and sudden strong mind, she can’t bear it any more because she misses her Company greatly, she knows that what happened was her fault but going to her to apologize or make amend was a difficult thing for her as her pride gets a better part of her
Rose misses her friend too and long to be with her, but her mother advised her against apologizing to Gift.
Rose mother: It is true my daughter that uto mmadu abuo, obu ofu onye na eji yah (it is true that two people’s friendship, is one person that usually holds it to make it strong and moving smoothly)
But my daughter, sometimes you have to be strong enough to stand on your own, I know your friend Gift very well that she is a proud child and might decide not to come to you even though she wants your company but her pride won’t let her come
Rose cuts in respectfully..
Nne is true ooo, sometimes I used to watch her with the corner of my eyes in the school when am playing with other people, she will be looking at me like with a sorry and missing eyes, but if I turned towards her direction, she will quickly removed her eyes.
Rose mum: That is what am telling you just now, did you tell me these things now before I said it earlier, you see, that is the kind of person she is, so just give her some time soon she will come around innugo nwam(did you hear my daughter) after these little quarrel of yours, she won’t try to intimidate you again.
Rose agreed with her mother’s words and hopefully pray that Gift should come and talk with her before things gets out of hand because she is not really feeling comfortable with keeping malice with her best friend
Gift mother has also noticed that rose don’t come to their house again like before and sense that something must be wrong again, she decided to confront her daughter.
Gift mother : nnem oo, how about Rose your friend is been a while I last saw her, hope she is not sick?
Gift pretends that she didn’t hear what her mother asked, and her mom scold her,….. gift didn’t. . you hear the question I asked you about your friend,? Or have you quarreled with her like you normally do?.
Gift: no mama, she is not sick, but she annoyed me that’s why I’m not talking to her again (frowns)
Is there no time someone doesn’t annoyed you eeh! Margaret thartia, Queen Elizabeth, ngwanu(ok now) tell me, what did Rose did to annoyed our first lady (mockingly)
Gift : she left me in the school and went home mama
Her mother replied…. Is that the only thing she did to you?.
Gift was lost and don’t know what next to say because she knows the fault was all hers
(Her mother came close to her and placed her hand on her shoulder)
Gift mother : Ada oma, you don’t know what you have until you lose it, I know that the fault is from you because you are short tempered and.., she signed and swallowed what she wanted to say….. My daughter, just go and make peace with your friend because she is a good girl and your best friend too.
But mama I can’t and besides I don’t know how to apologize to someone if we are quarreling (frowns).
Don’t worry, tomorrow I will send you a message to her house for you to go and call her for me, then from there both of you will start talking again and became friends did you hear me?.
Gift nodded in agreement and thanked her mother
She was so excited and smiled inwardly at her mother’s offer to help her reconcile with her friend, truth be told, she has really missed Rose company a lot and can’t wait for tomorrow to come so that they can settle their differences.
