CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE: CLIFOR APPEARANCE 3
Thanatos shut the door to Chloe’s room, my vision was beginning to turn blur, and I could hardly see anything “How many souls did you escort” Asmodeus asked, I lifted my gaze to meet his.
” Thousands”
” I knew you would be feeling down ” he led the way back to my chamber” Just one woman will be enough right?” He asked but I could barely listen….my human skin is slowly diminishing
” I need more “Forcing the words out, I walk into my chamber and stare at the young-looking lady, she doesn’t look like a harlot, Asmodeus shuts the door, and I look at her
” Milord ” she smiled ” I heard you were looking for someone to keep you company tonight ”
” Indeed ”
” What would you like me to do?”
” Just remain seated ” I mumbled, taking off my jacket and loosening my tie “What is your name?”
” Juliet sir ”
” Juliet” I mumble “Have you read about Juliet’s sad novel?”
” You mean the Titanic?” She asked and I looked at her, her eyes filled with excitement
” Yes ”
” Oh yes, I have read about it….” I sat next to her and she kept on talking, looking at how young she was, I was sure she would be sad about what her life would turn into right now ” Milord?” She repeated, gaining my attention “You’re staring “Her face looked completely red, and our lips inched away.
I didn’t hesitate to kiss her, all her essence, her youth, and energy, I took all of them in, and I could slowly feel myself getting strong, my body healing, repairing.
Withdrawing from her, she gives me a confused look “Leave” I mumble ” I wish to be alone ”
” Did I do something wrong?” She asked ” I….”
” Juliet ” I frown” you do know it’s improper to question me ”
” Forgive me ” she rushed out of my chamber and I proceeded to move into my bathing room, the water warm, my eyes shut, the last thing I expected was Chloe walking into my chamber.
” Lord Thanatos” her voice worried ” are you sure you’re alright, you looked weak” I said nothing, I mean if I knew she would walk into the bathroom, I would have said something to her
” Chloe ” I gasp out and she looks at me
” So you feel okay now?” She blinks” You look better now ”
” What are you doing here?” I growl” This is a man bathing chamber”
She gives me a confused look” You’re my husband” I keep forgetting I married her, using my hands to rob my face, I exhale
” Wait for me in the bed chamber ” I mumble “That way we will talk properly ” She nods her head, this time without questioning me, and walks out, that’s a surprise but I loved it.
Even a man needs alone time.
This clifor issue is going to make me visit hell again, sending someone like that to bless Chloe is unbelievable, all this destiny rubbish does have to stop and fast, Chloe has heart issues, and she will die soon and that is something I can’t stop.
Bringing a dead person back to life is the only impossible thing, am struggling with, surely a god should be able to do all these
Getting out of the bathtub, I wrap a towel around my body and walk back to the bedroom, Chloe is already fast asleep, her hair scattered on the bed, sitting next to her, I stare at her face, she must have been scared, thinking she would die ” you did well ” I smile ” staying alive till I arrive ” my right hand touch her cheek ” that’s a good girl ”
” Really?” She mumbled, my body shaking with surprise at the fact she was awake ” I was really scared ”
” It’s fine ”
She looked at me properly “You seemed angry with me, did I hurt you with my words ” I looked at her, I hadn’t known Chloe for a long time but tonight, she was different, her words and tone seemed more emotional
” Are you okay?” I asked
She shakes her head ” I feel really bad ” I lean close and perceive her breath, she is drunk. Just great, this night might be dramatic ” I didn’t know my words could hurt you like that ”
” Am not angry ”
” You seem to be ” she sat up ” I mean your head is bringing out smoke” Anybody looking at me right now will realize I have given up, this girl will be the end of me
” Go back to sleep Chloe ”
” Shy?” She shakes her head, as if correcting herself” Why?”
” You’re drunk ”
” I just had one bottle ” she smiles “Wait, why do you look so handsome, that too with fine red lips ”
” Chloe ” I look at her, even her eyes, she looks so sleepy “You don’t need to entertain me tonight, just sleep ” Her eyes widen, as if I have cracked the puzzle, saying things to keep me interested, so that I won’t leave her, I know that much.
She might have meant those words she said but now she drank regretting saying it ” I like it when you’re honest” Patting her head, she lay down right back on the bed, with a smile on her face.
Chloe do sleep faster than I expected. Getting up, I put on some shorts, grabbed a shirt, and stepped out “There are five more ladies in the study room. ”
” Thank you Asmodeus” I mumble” You did help me out, that too in a very proper way ”
” Thanatos ” he called and I looked at him “What do you plan to do with Chloe ” Saying nothing, he pressed” She is trouble, you should kill her yourself”
” I do not want unnecessary blood on my hands ”
” Thanatos”
” She has a heart disease, she will die either way ” I growl” For now, I need her to live a calm life ”
” Why do you care for her?”
” Asmodeus” I look at him with annoyance “She is my wife!”
Blinking my eyes, I look at the room am in, the sun rays bright enough to blind a newborn….. sitting up, I stare at lord Thanatos, sitting on his chair with a book in his hand, he reads?
” You’re awake ”
” Milord ” I clear my throat” Good morning” what happened last night, all I remember was me drinking, don’t tell me I messed up again
” You will join me for breakfast ”
” Breakfast?” I asked and he nodded “In the dining hall?”
” Quiet the contrary” he stands to his feet “My balcony ” I turn around and stare at the table with food placed neatly on it “You seem to have lost weight for the three days I went away ”
” You’re being nice ” I mumble “That’s suspicious ”
” It is ” he smiled “One could think I fancy you now ”
” You don’t?”
” Only a fool will fall for someone who sees him as an object to use ” and now he is making me feel bad for my choice of words yesterday
” Am sorry ”
” Hmmm”
” I didn’t mean for that to come out that way, I just felt like you were…..em…” Not knowing how to say it, I look at him” Sorry”
” I hold no grudges against you Chloe ” he moved to the balcony ” Come on, let’s eat ”
” I don’t think am hungry ” responding, I looked at my hands ” I just have a lot of things to ask you, I would prefer it if…” The moment I looked up to meet his gaze, it was so compelling that I stood up and rushed over to the balcony.
” Have some soup ” he smiled
Minutes passed and it was just me eating, Thanatos hadn’t touched his soup, he just kept drinking his wine and staring at me, what is the meaning of all these chances in his character…did I say something stupid to him?
” Lord Thanatos?”
” What is it?”
” Did I do something wrong last night?”
” You don’t remember?” I meet his gaze and shake my head, he leans back on the chair and smiles, what does that mean?” Nothing much Chloe, you just told me how you feel”
” How do I feel?”
” You should know” Thanato’s voice remains calm ” I mean is your feeling, not mine ” he swirls the glass, then takes a sip from it ” Or were you lying?”
” No ” I shake my head, I don’t remember anything but wh@tëver I did say to make him act this nice, I shouldn’t ruin things ” Thanks for breakfast, I enjoyed it “Smiling I watch him lose his smile, he just stares at me without expression, as if far from thought
” Chloe ” his voice deeper ” will you kill someone if it meant for you to live long?” I look at him.
” Yes,”… That Is truly what I would do
” Good answer ”
