~ MARTHA’S APARTMENT ~
“I will get straight to the point. What do I have to do to get you to be with my grandson?” Crystal asked, taking her by surprise.
“With all due respect ma’am, it isn’t about what you can give me neither is it about what I can gain from all of this, I just can’t bring myself to continue deceiving him” Susie said.
“A little lie won’t bring any harm. I saw pictures of you two this morning, it’s going viral on the Internet and…
“It isn’t what you think it is ma’am. It’s just a picture and nothing else. Am sure Miss Nina must have told you about the letter” Susie asked and when she gave a nod in reply, Susie added.
“Then that settles it all. I can’t partake in this deceit, am running late for work, I have to get ready” Susie did a bow before shutting the door.
“That was a little harsh” Martha said as Susie walk back in.
“I have to be harsh to make them see that things can’t work . I can’t lie to Clifford, he doesn’t deserve it”
“Fine, it’s your call but then what are you going to do about the hotel anniversary? Are you going to attend?” Martha asked.
“For things to return to it original form, I will have to skip this year anniversary. The less I see of Clifford, the better for me” Susie replied.

~ KNIGHT HOTEL ~ CLEANING DEPARTMENT~
“What!”
“I said that you will be working with others as waitress during the anniversary ceremony” Mrs Bobby, head of the cleaning department inform her.
“But I….I didn’t sign up for it” Susie said.
“I wouldn’t have added you to the list if you didn’t sign up for it. Take a look, isn’t this your name?” Said Mrs Bobby as she showed her the list.
“It is my name but I didn’t write it” Susie said.
“I don’t care if you wrote it or not. The main issue now is that you are part of the waitress during the ceremony, you volunteered by putting down your name so make sure you show up or you lose your job, now get out!” Mrs Bobby ordered.
Susie left her office, heading straight to the locker room where she had seen Kate earlier.
“Why did you put my name among those working as waitresses?” Susie demanded the minute she saw her.
“Your name?”
“Don’t act like you don’t know what am talking about”
“If you are referring to the list then I did, I added your name to it. We were short of volunteers and I thought of you” Kate said.
“You should have asked me before adding my name to the list!”
“Well am sorry. I was only thinking of the anniversary and besides, it’s not a big deal working on that day, everyone is happy about it, why are you angry?” Kate asked instead.
“It’s none of your business if am angry or not and don’t add my name to anything without consulting me first!” Susie said hotly and left the locker room.
“Nina Knight backing you is the only reason am holding back but am sure that with what I have in mind during the anniversary, she will end up hating you like everyone else” Kate muttered, filled with so much h@të.

~ CAFETERIA FOR WORKERS ~
Susie kept thinking of ways on how to get out of working during the ceremony.
The other cleaners who didn’t volunteer refuse to help her even though she came up with a lot of reasons.
Susie sat alone at a table eating her sandwich, deep in thought and oblivious to everyone else.
Stanley chose that moment to arrive and though he received offers from some of the employees to join them at their table, he humbly refuse and went to Susie instead.
Susie was surprise when he suddenly took the seat in front of her. Apart from the little chats they both have whenever they cross each other paths, she has never eaten lunch with him before.
“You don’t mind right? This is the only seat with a nice view” Stanley said.
“I don’t” Susie said, feeling nervous.
“You hardly eat lunch at the workers cafeteria, what change your mind today?” Susie asked slowly.
“Maybe it’s because I knew I would find a lovely lady having lunch alone and since am alone as well, I decided to join her” Stanley replied.
He thinks her to be lovely…Susie thought as she let out a smile, a smile which earned Stanley attention.
“So, how did things go that day?” He asked suddenly.
“Huh?”
“That day I saw you on the sixth floor, dressed up and all” he reminded.
“Oh that! It went well ” she replied, hoping he wouldn’t ask her more question.
“And your coat, I totally forgot about it” She said, remembering she left the coat in Clifford car.
“Don’t worry. Have got lots of it” Stanley told her.
“But it’s the first thing I ever got from you and it’s only right that I get it back” Susie insist but then, she got a call.
“You can take it, I don’t mind” Stanley said when she gave him a look.
“Hello” she said waiting for a reply and when the reply came, she almost hang up but with Stanley watching her, she couldn’t do it.
“Running away won’t stop me from finding you” Clifford said down the line.
“How did you get my number?” She asked, trying her best to look compose.
“That’s a silly thing to ask when you work in my hotel” he replied smoothly.
“Why did you call?”
“Let’s meet ”
“Do we have to?” Susie asked, trying to make it brief as possible.
“We do. Have got your coat with me, I want to return it back” He said, reminding her that Stanley coat is still in his possession.
“Where should I meet you?” She asked, earning Stanley attention this time.
She listen to the address he gave before ending the call.
“Who’s that?”
“A friend ” Susie lied.
“You were just asking this friend how he or she got your number. Are you sure it’s a friend? I can accompany you if you….”
“No, no, no!” She said quickly.
“It’s really a friend” she added and stood up.
“Have got to go” she said, hating the fact that she has to part from him all because of Clifford.
She has vow not to see him again but she has to get Stanley coat which is very important to her.
It took half an hour for her to get to where she will be meeting Clifford.
As usual, the streets filled with people going and coming and there was no sign of Clifford.
“Where’s he?” She murmured and dial his number.
“Am here already, where are you?” She asked.
“Behind you” he replied, she turned to see him standing a few paces away from her.
Just like her and everyone else, he had his coat on which made him eye catching to most of the passerby.
Clifford ignored the admiring glances being sent his way and walk towards her.
“It’s cold and you only have little on” He said, pulling off his woolen shawl to wrap around her neck.
“Where’s the coat?” She asked not wanting to stay long with him.
“Why did you leave yesterday without saying a thing?” He ask in return and when she said nothing, he pulled her towards his car.
“Where are we going?”
“Just get in”
“I need to go back to work ” she said defiantly.
“Don’t think about work when you are me, am the boss after all” he replied and open the door which she got in reluctantly.
He got into the car and sat still, starring at her.
“Is something wrong?” Susie asked and his answer was to move close to her.
Susie shrank against the car door, starring at him with wide eyes while he smile down at her.
His hand went around her waist and pulled the belt over her, he then settled back into his seat and drove them off.
Half an hour later, he stop the car in front of building which had the brand name *Dior* on its top.
“Don’t tell me you lost the coat and you are planning on buying another one?” Susie asked.
“How about keeping shut for a while and just follow my lead” he said instead and when she tried to speak, he wrap his arm around shoulder and pulled her in.
Five attendants were waiting when they got in.
“Welcome Mr Knight” a lady greeted.
“Is it ready?” He asked taking a seat and when Susie tried to do the same, he stopped her.
“Get her change into it” he ordered crisply as she was pulled away by the attendant.
The next few minutes were filled with her changing into different evening gown which she modelled for him.
She was on her fourth dress when he finally made a choice.
“This is much better. All that’s left is for me to get a suit similar to your dress” he said , walking towards her.
“Why exactly are you doing this?” Susie asked.
He made her face the large mirror behind them and stood directly behind her.
“I want you to be my companion for the hotel anniversary” he breathe down her neck.
“You want me to be your partner?” She asked, facing him.
“I want you to be my partner and am not taking no for an answer” he said, tightening his arms around her.
She is forced to attend the anniversary as one of the waitress and now, the big boss is asking her to be his companion and he wouldn’t take no for answer.
What’s she gonna do….
