THE NEXT DAY

[ SHINE MAGAZINES ] So-hee ran into the building to the half closed elevator, she’s late already. She managed to squeeze herself through the doors.

She met Rhett in it already, she adjusted her glasses and tried leaving but the door was closed already. Rhett took off his head phone and stared at her for a while

“Good morning boss” She bowed maintaining a good distance between them

” What’s your name?” He asked

” Kim So-hee” She bowed again

“Good morning So-hee” He greeted and she flinched like he said something stupid

“Hmm” She bowed

“Will you stop bowing? Stop it!” He snapped

” Oh okay boss” She almost bowed but controlled herself, she smiled and scratched her head awkwardly

Rhett sighed and put his headphones back over his head

So-hee kept staring at him through the ride, the ride seems to be longer than usual

After a while, the elevator opened, he took off the head phone again

“Stop staring so much and get out, we’re here!” He said to her and left, she blinked and followed him timidly till they got to the office

She went to her desk quickly and dropped her bag. She watched as he freely spoke to the others

She shook her head, she just remembered coffee, she needs to make coffee for everyone

“Hey So-hee” Clement waved at her and she smiled back. She looked at Felix’s desk and frowned, where’s that meanie

“He isn’t here yet? maybe traffic” Vivian sat down

“Miss shine” So-hee greeted and Vivian nodded

She went to make the coffee, she placed the cups on a tray and headed back to the office

“Hey bunny, good morning” Felix helped her open the door

” Good morning meanie” She scoffed and distributed the coffee amongst the workers

The last in the tray was for Rhett, she frowned, why must she be the one to give it to him

“Aiish!” She mumbled and dragged herself to his cabin

“Boss!” She called as she walked in

Rhett sat down looking at her, he didn’t say anything, he was just staring at her intensely like he wanted to capture all her reactions

So-hee smiled awkwardly and moved forward to his desk

“I brought your morning coffee boss!!” She said

“Keep it there” He said still looking at her

The tray in her hand started shaking as a result of her shivering hands. She was all sweaty out of nervousness, they way he was looking at her wasn’t helping matters at all

“I said keep it down So-hee” He said

She gasped hearing him call her name for the second time this morning, she lowered the tray carefully as she could

“Here!” She said as she placed the tray

Rhett smirked “Thanks!”

She smiled and took her hands off the tray but it ended up spilling, she gasped fearfully, panicking. She took his laptop away from the table and some of the other files, she then looked at him apologetically

Rhett’s smirk grew more, he actually expected the coffee to spill anytime soon, he knows it would spill knowing the kind of person So-hee is

“Leave!” He said calmly

“Huh?”

“Leave So-hee!” He said and she bowed

” I’m really sorry boss” She took the tray and cup to leave, she kept moving backwards as she apologized

He watched her, the next thing heard was the clattering sound of the cup and tray, it fell, she palmed her mouth and fell on her knees to pick the broken pieces

Rhett chuckled at her silliness, he expected that too

“Goodness Kim So-hee, what have you done?” She muttered and stood up with the pieces

” Ask Soo-min to get me another cup of coffee” Rhett said to her and she nodded before leaving

He chuckled and wiped his table properly

She’s such an interesting character…

So-hee disposed the cup into the recycling bin and breathed out wearily. Her heart is literally jumping in her chest now, she had to hold her chest to calm down.

That was the most awkward moment of her life, yes she falls alot but what happened back in Rhett’s office was super embarrassing. How would she face him again, she felt like his eyes were hypnotizing her

That was not okay…

“Bunny, what’s wrong?” Felix asked

“Nothing, I’m fine” She answered and briskly walked to her desk

★2 days later★

[ THE GROCERIES ] Around past three in the afternoon, Min-ji and Yu-ri just paid for their groceries and are going to the car. Min-ji spent her day at the Kim’s so she had Yu-ri follow her to the groceries

“That was great shopping but eonni, this is too much, we won’t be able to finish it” Yu-ri showed her the six bags she was holding

” I’ll take some for me and So-hee” Min-ji said and her phone rang, Yu-ri took the cue to go to the car

Min-ji stood by the door speaking on her phone, it’s a call from one of her colleagues

She misses work but she’ll enjoy her leave to the fullest first

Someone tapped her softly on her shoulder

“Yu-ri please wait in the car” She said still engrossed in the call.

Ace sighed, this woman is something else. He actually came to get somethings, he thought of saying hello when he saw her

She ended the call and twirled

“You?”

“Hello Lee Min-ji” Ace smiled cutely

“I thought I’d never see you again, well look how it turned out and where is your car?” She smirked

Ace groaned, he should’ve just ignored her and gone inside

“Can’t you forget about that incident? I said I’m sorry… I thought of saying hi” He waved

Min-ji nodded thoughtfully

” That is so nice of you Ace” She replied and they stood there for a while not knowing what to say

“Eonni!!” Yu-ri called from the lot just beside her car, she nodded and faced Ace

“So nice seeing you once again, I’ll be going now” She smiled

Ace watched her leave, he thought for a while then ran to her right beside her car

“Hey Min-ji, since we’re friends now can I have your number?” He asked hopefully

” And when did we become friends?” She asked

Yu-ri stuck her head out through the window

“Wow eonni, is this your boyfriend, he’s so cute. What’s his name?” She asked and Min-ji knocked her, she winced and pushed her head back in the car

“She’s my younger sister” Min-ji clarified and Ace nodded

” So… Friends? ” he asked stretching out his hand for a shake

” Not friends, I don’t give my numbers to strangers. But if I meet you a third time, I might consider” She wiggled her brows

” Seriously?” He gasped and watched her enter the car

” Seriously. Goodbye Ace” She said and started the car

” Mr cute guy, you can have my number. I’m available” Yu-ri flirted

Min-ji scoffed and drove away leaving Ace stunned and happy at the same time

“Aww, he didn’t get my number” Yu-ri pouted and looked at Min-ji

‘Why didn’t I give him my number’ Min-ji mentally scolded herself

She sighed, hoping she would meet him again

[ SHINE MAGAZINES ]*
The staff are sitting on their desks having random discussions as they work. So-hee is repeatedly checking the time like she has something important to do

The door opened, Rhett walked in with Felix by his side, Ella and Clement were behind them. They went for a meeting in the finance department. Felix went with Rhett to his cabin while Ella came to drop a file on Vivian’s desk

“Miss shine, sign this and send it to boss” She said and went to her workstation

So-hee checked the time again “5 more minutes” She squealed

“Really?” Soo-min asked and ran to pick up the huge radio on the shelf. She brought it and placed in the middle of the room

Rhett and Felix came out from the cabin, Felix went to his desk while Rhett sat on top of Lucy’s table

“Guys what’s going on?” Rhett asked

“We submitted an article to the radio station, it’s So-hee’s first official write-up” Ha-na explained

Rhett nodded and looked at So-hee who was checking her watch, then the workers who were anticipating to hear her article

He sighed, at least it won’t be a flop cos she’s got talent

“It’s time!” She beamed

Soon, the radio jockey started reading the article. It was about the Evolution of the fashion industry

They listened attentively all smiles, the article was constructed and edited so professionally that one might doubt an amateur wrote it

“That was awesome So-hee, it was perfectly written, great job” Lucy hugged her, So-hee smiled proudly, being complimented by the chief editor means everything to her

“Good job So-hee” Rhett said and she bowed slightly

The others praised her too, Soo-min took the radio back to the shelf

“You wrote and edited?” Vivian asked leaning back on her chair

“He helped me edit at the cost of 1000” She pointed at Felix and he flashed her smile

“Jesus! 1000? Felix, that’s extortion” Ella gasped and Felix shrugged his shoulders

“How was he able to convince you to give him such amount of money, huh?” Clement spoke

“It’s under the pretext of dinner” Vivian laughed while So-hee covered her face feeling embarrassed, it’s not her fault, Felix just knows how to sweet talk his way to her pocket

Rhett stared at her in shock, she’s not just clumsy but gullible too, Jeez!

So does that mean, they’re not together?

Well why does he care, it’s not his problem anyway

“That’s enough everyone back to work” Rhett said and everyone returned to their stations. He sat on a chair beside Lucy

30 minutes later…

“Isn’t that Wu Zoey?” Ha-na asked, she was looking out through the window

“Zoey? What is she doing here?, lemme see too” Ella said and joined her by the window, she looked down and saw a lady with red short bob closing her car

“It’s really Zoey, she’s coming here!!” She announced

“That sneaky devil!! Clear up everything, take off the posters relating to our new project immediately” Rhett commanded and they started doing as told

Wu Zoey is the chief editor of Ling Fest magazine, she knows how to steal ideas alot and her coming to shine means she’s on a mission to feed on their plans

“So-hee get two chairs quickly… she’ll be here in 2 minutes hurry up guys” Rhett said. They took out all posters, write-ups, files and other things related to the project and hid them.

So-hee brought two chairs to the front of the room, Rhett placed them facing each other, he doesn’t want Zoey to enter his office cus most things about the project is scattered in there

“Act natural, she’ll be here in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1..” He sat down and the door opened

“Hi guys” Zoey beamed as she entered the space. She looked around but saw nothing, she was confused but quickly masked it up with a smile

Lucy stood up and went to her “Hello Zoey!”

Zoey scoffed and entered further ignoring her greetings. They’re enemies cos one is better than the other (yunno what I mean)

Zoey continued scanning the room with a smile but inwardly she was frustrated.

“What’s going on, why is there nothing important here” She thought

Rhett folded his lips to prevent him from laughing, the look on Zoey’s face was priceless. His employees couldn’t contain it so they giggled softly. He stood up, seems Zoey didn’t notice him as she’s busy looking around

“Hello miss Wu” He said and she turned to his direction, she smiled

“Hello Mr Jung, it’s nice meeting you” They shared a handshake and he pointed to one of the chairs

She frowned, what the hell?

“Sit down please miss Wu” Rhett said and sat down

“Mr Jung why don’t we use your office, we can’t discuss here, don’t you think it’s too open?”

“I trust my employees miss Wu and besides here is also part of my office, so please sit let’s talk”

She reluctantly sat down

“So…? ”

“Welcome back to Korea Rhett, Ling Fest sends it’s love to you” She said

“Thanks, I appreciate” Rhett smiled

“I came here to discuss the publishing table, we don’t want to collide dates with you guys anymore so tell me when you intend on publishing” She said

“Tch… ” Felix scoffed loudly and glared at her, they asked last year but still did otherwise

“You shouldn’t have taken the stress Zoey, we have not discussed that yet but when we do, I’ll have one of my employees mail it to you” Rhett said, So-hee entered with a cup of coffee for Zoey

“Here’s coffee for you ma’am” She faced down to avoid her gaze

“It’s you. ha! you’re a servant?” Zoey smirked and took the coffee.

So-hee opened her mouth but closed it quickly and smiled. She’d gone to Ling Fest a month back to work as an intern but Zoey chased her away

Zoey sipped from the coffee and spit it out on So-hee’s body, Rhett stood up

“Miss Wu!!” He glared

Felix ran to So-hee and helped her clean up, the others were on their feet too

“What was that for, why would you do that to my employee?” Rhett growled

Zoey crossed her legs and smirked

” The coffee was too hot, it wasn’t even up to my taste”

“So that doesn’t mean you’ll do that to her, she’s human too. Zoey apologize to her now!!” He said sternly and she stood up

” Why should I apologise to a servant, isn’t she the server here? infact Mr Jung I’d given her the same job when she came to my office but she rejected it, so why are you making her look like someone special. I won’t apologize, not especially to her” She said and looked scornfully at So-hee

Lucy wanted to say something but Rhett motioned her to stop

“There is the door, Zoey” Rhett pointed at the door

“What? are you chasing me away?” She asked in disbelief

“I remember clearly that this is my company and I can ask anyone to leave at anytime, so miss Wu, use the door” He said, she scoffed angrily and walked towards the door, she held the knob and looked around everyone was glaring at her

“Zoey did you listen to today’s commentary?” He asked before she could open the door

“Yes, so what?”

“She wrote it” Rhett pointed at So-hee, Zoey’s eyes widened in shock

She didn’t expect such from someone like So-hee as she doesn’t behave like an intelligent person

“Because she made coffee for you doesn’t mean she’s a servant. Yes, she makes coffee for all of us but that’s cos her coffee is the best… after knowing who wrote that article you should be ashamed of yourself for underestimating her abilities because of how she looks and guess what Zoey, our new project is all based on her ideas, she’s one smart lady but unfortunately…” He looked at So-hee

She was staring at him the whole time, surprised that he spoke up for her

“You lost her. Zoey you can leave now and before coming into this office next time please knock, behave like a civilized person” He smirked

Zoey’s chest rose and fell quickly out of anger, this kid had just insulted her

“You’ll pay for this insult Jung Yi-Jun, you’ll definitely pay” She said and left after slamming the door

Rhett scoffed and called the guards “Don’t ever let that woman in here again”

“Boss, thank you!” So-hee gave him a light smile, he shook his head

“Stop giving people chances to humiliate you So-hee, you’re not a child anymore. Stop this act of timidness and step up, gosh” He rasped raking a hand in his hair and left to his cabin
