Mr. Marson has been thinking about Charles words since, he wondered about it all night thinking of the possibilities, to the extent that he found himself researching on ghosts and all that.
After confusing himself with everything he reed online, he began another search on the Hewlett family and Haven group.
“He seems like a normal lad,” he thought, reading through Charles’s biography.
He put away his computer with thoughts that there is no way all those could be real. The Harrison’s are universal billionaires, they relate with people from different continents, so he summed up his thoughts to magic. Africans and Asias are known to have magics, although he doesn’t believe in the existence of magic, but with everything Charles showed told him, the flying file and others, he could only conclude it to magic. A lot more people still believe in magic than spirits, he believed in neither but he chose to believe what majority will believe. There was no way a ghost could wander around and interfere in other’s affair, referring him as a legal counsel —it all doesn’t make sense from his end.
“Everyone knows that I have been loyal to the Holt family for years, and he came up up all those to trick me to work with him. It’s all magic, the man with him was Asian, that explains it perfectly,” he concluded, and emptied his glass of water before going to bed.
“But he said it was murder, he said Violet was murdered,” he thought.
*
He couldn’t sleep well all night, he woke up early as usual and his wife turned on the bed to look at him.
“Are you having trouble sleeping again?” she asked, and he shook his head.
“I told you it’s not your fault. Stop blaming yourself for what you have no power over,” she said, sitting up from bed.
He has always been having sleepless nights, blaming himself for his inability to protect the Holt’s family.
“I was unable to protect Vera, I was unable to protect Violet, I should at least try to protect Ivy if I get the chance, right?”
“Why would you protect her? How can you protect her? Her sister willingly left everything to that man, and you resigned because you felt wronged about the fact. So, how will you do that?”
“Do you believe in ghost?”
“That’s out of the blues,”
“What if Violet ghost is somewhere out there? I know it sounds crazy, but what if…”
“There is no such thing as ghosts! If ghosts do exist, then the parents spirts should have watched over thier children, they should have stopped her from making that wrong decision! Please, forget about the Holt, and let’s build our own family. We have been married for years, but I always feel like a stranger whenever the Holts are involved,”
“Vera was my friend. She was my first. First friend, first love. I became a lawyer because she felt wronged, she felt wronged when her grandfather lost his land in the province to some foreigners, she might be a teenager then but she was fully aware that her family lost because they couldn’t stand for thier right. The law was with those with power so I made up my mind that day to never watch her suffer that way again. I might be powerless then, but I was determined to get all the power I could need to uphold justice for those I loved, with that de, I became a lawyer. I quit my job at the law firm leaving everything I worked so hard for behind to support the Holt when they were at the scratch, she might not be with me but seeing her happy makes me whole. I tried to quit my job there, with thoughts that I would be able to move on just fine if I was away— Holt enterprise was doing great, what started as a small company grew rapidly and I thought it was fine to leave, but I couldn’t leave. She made me to marry you, and I did, but that doesn’t mean I stopped loving her. She dled, and I couldn’t protect her, Violet followed, and I couldn’t do anything either. And now, you want me to forget about Ivy and start a happy family with you?” he said, and she wiped off a drop of tears from her face.
“But what can you do?”
“Anything I can do,”
“But you have been unable to do nothing for months now,”
“I know. But I might be able to do something now,” with that, he left the bed, while his wife stared at his retreating back in tears.
*
He got to work the following day and saw Charles contract again taking him back to their conversation. He thought about it all day, and came to a conclusion.
“If he claimed that Violet was murdered, I should at least find out more on that,” having those thoughts, he dialed Charles number.
**
He waited for few minutes at the appointed meeting place, and Charles arrived in company of a strange lady and the man he was with the other day, Mr. Feng.
“Who’s she?” he asked, and they all looked at him.
*
Violet bite her lips as she imagined what Mr. Marson’s reaction would be if she suddenly introduced herself as Violet, so she thought against it.
“She is with us,” Charles said, and she nodded.
“Obviously. But who’s she? I don’t want a third party that has no role to play in this meeting. Mr. Feng here is enough to be our witness. Can she excuse us?”
“She also has an important part to play in this meeting,” Charles defended.
“Mr. Hewlett, I don’t have time to banter away. If she is an accomplice of yours in your magic realm, I’m sorry to say that I have no interest in that part,”
“You don’t believe I could see Violet?”
“Will you tell me she is here and make the table fly around?” he teased, and Charles shook his head.
“No, I won’t because she can’t do that anymore,”
“There we go again,”
“But she is here,” Charles said, and Violet glance at him in disagreement.
“What’s the use of proving what you won’t believe? If you aren’t here for that, why are we here? You can’t summon me out this late at night just to tell me that you don’t believe everything I told you, your silence would have been a better answer to that,”
“She has to excuse us first. I don’t trust people,”
“So you trust me?”
“No,”
“Then why are you meeting me?”
“Because I have business with you, and he is enough to be out witness in this conversation. I have no business with her,”
“She can’t leave,”
“Then I leave,”
“Mr. Marson…” Violet shuddered, wondering how great it could have been if she could show herself to him.
“Violet is the main source of this meeting,” Charles said, and they all looked at him.
“I told you I am not here to discuss magic,”
“She is Violet,” Charles said.
Violet/Carolyn and Mr. Feng looked eyes widened.
“What did you just say?”
“She is Violet. Not the Violet you are imagining, you asked who she is, and I just introduced her to you, her name is Violet. She is Violet, and she is also an important part of this conversation,”
“Why shouod Ms. Holt mere namesake be my business?”
“Goodness… you argue too much. Can’t we just start the conversation?”
“Not until you tell me her purpose for being here,”
“This meeting all started because of her. She can also see Violet. Even though you don’t believe me, that doesn’t mean it’s not true,”
“I told you we aren’t here to talk about that,”
“Mr. Marson, I really mean no harm. I want justice to be severed for the Holts family more than anyone else,” Violet said.
“Why?”
“Because Violet suffered. She was murdered by the people she loved and trusted, and watched everything taken away helplessly,”
“You said she was murdered. That’s what I want you to elaborate on,”
“Well, since we seem to be getting along now, can we sit?” Charles asked.
“Suit yourselves,” Mr. Marson muttered, and Charles exhaled heavily.
“You’re really a hard man,” he said, and Mr. Marson shot him a glare.
“That’s scary,” he grumbled.

Maxwell tossed and turned on his bed sweating from his sleep and suddenly jotted up in fear.
“Violet! Violet! Violet!” he shouted, breathing heavily, and Ella who was next to him on the bed sat up in anger.
“Get a grip, will you?! How long will you keep this up?”
“It seems so real. I feel like I’m being hunted by her every time I close my eyes. Could this be the judgement?”
“I said you should get a grip!” she lashed, staring directly at him.
He has been that way since Carolyn/Violet laid those threats to him. He has been dreaming about his judgement, and also thinking about how the strange girl knew that Violet was murdered.
“Ella, aren’t you scared?”
“Scared of what? A d£ad person?”
“That girl. How she knew that we murdered Violet,”
“We? Get a grip, Maxwell, she directed that at you,”
“But we both murdered her. You played the major role!”
“She didn’t stop breathing from my hands,”
“Are you trying to pin this on me?”
“Why would there be a need to pin this on ourselves? Violet is d£ad, and all the Holts asset is ours now. We won,”
“But… that girl—“
“There is no buts!”
“We murdered her… and that strange girl knew,”
*
Ivy who was having difficulties sleeping went out to the kitchen to drink some water, and on her way back she heard Ella and Maxwell loud voices, and she went closer to eavesdrop on thier conversation, with hopes that they are splitting apart, but what she heard was even more shocking.
She slugged the door open immediately, and they both looked at her in shock.
“You murdered my sister,” she grumbled with clenched teeth, frightening them.
**
**
Violet shared the last memory she remembered and Mr. Marson looked at her, doubtfully.
“Ms. Holt told you all that?”
“Yes, you have do believe me. Ella hit her head with a bottle, and that was the last thing remembered. If she dled that day, it was supposed to be his birthday, but it still baffles me when I heard it was two weeks after,”
“Ms. Holt took a break due to personal reasons, we all assumed it was to spend time with her family. But how can I believe all these?”
“I don’t have evidence that could convince you, I only have my words. I went to the business trip and attended a conference there, I was supposed to stay longer but I wrapped things up on time to surprise my husband who was cheating on me with my best friend, and together they conspired to klll me and stole my asset,” she said, and they all looked at her.
“Vee…” Charles called trying to caution her.
“You?” Mr. Marson asked, confused.
“Says Violet Holt. That’s the summary of everything she told me,” she said, and they all nodded in realization.
“Do you still doubt us?” Charles asked.
“In as much as I don’t want to believe this, it seem too real to doubt,”
“Good. Then are we on the same page now?” Charles asked.
“I’ll get to the bottom of this, justice must be served,”
“Yes, justice must be served, because there is also judgment on earth,” Violet said, as tears flowed freely from her face, and they looked at her.
“Ermmm… Mr. Marson, about my proposal,” Charles said, clearing the air.
“Get ready for Haven group next board meeting, we will all get really busy working together,” Mr. Marson said, and all smiled.
