The doctor shut the door and exhaled heavily.
“How could you put a talisman on me?!” Charles yelled, aiming at the doctor but Violet held him back.
“Relax, Charles. I’m not him,”
“What?” Charles grumbled.
“He’s Jayden. He possessed the doctor so we could use his office,” Violet said.
“Since when…” Charles mumbled.
“Since whenever. You’ve to get out of here so I can leave this body. Vee, help Carolyn out of here, I’ll follow,”
“No,” Charles said, and held Violet’s hand.
“What?” Jayden snapped.
“What if I’m unable to see you again. Like , I don’t know what Mr. Feng planted in my house,”
“That’s why you’ve to go and sort that out with him. I can’t stay in this body any longer. Vee, Carolyn will be in trouble if anything goes wrong,” Jayden said.
“Charles, I have to go. If I’m unable to come to your house, let’s meet somewhere else,”
“Where?”
“I’ll show myself wherever you are. Let’s go, Carolyn,” with that, Violet held Carolyn’s hand and they both vanished.
“You should think of a way to confront the doctor, I’ll leave his body now,” Jayden said.
“You should, and you should also stop calling her Vee!” Charles snapped, and Jayden left the doctor’s body.
The doctor looked around in fear and looked at Charles with widened eyes.
“How will you explain this?” Charles asked, pointing at the talisman.
“I’m so sorry, sir,”
“That’s not an explanation. I believe you will explain better to my lawyer,” Charles said, and took his phone.
“Sir, please have mercy. It was Mr. Feng,”
“Mr. Feng put you up to it, and you did it with your license on the line,”
“I don’t believe in those shaman stuffs but.. sir, I don’t have any excuses,” he cried.
“Ok,”
“Thank you so much for letting it slide,”
“I never said I would,” Charles said and wore his shirt before leaving.

He drove back home immediately, and met Mr. Feng in the compound.
“Can I have a word?” he asked, and Mr. Feng nodded.
They went to the living room together and Charles exhaled heavily.
“I’m going to take full responsibility, please, spare the doctor,” Mr. Feng said in defeat.
“I’m the judge of that,”
“Sir…”
“Mr. Feng, I meant it when I told you that your betrayal will be the end of me,”
“That wasn’t betrayal, I was trying to protect you,”
“I know,” he said, and Mr. Feng looked at him.
“Sir?”
“How come neither of us thought of this years ago? It would’ve been a perfect shield, but not anymore,”
“Sir…”
“You were right, I put my life in the line to protect Vee, that’s how much I want her around. I know I’m being insane, I know I shouldn’t feel that way for a ghost. But this past few days without her has been h£ll, I felt like my head is going to explode at the thought of everything that might have happened to her,”
“Sir, this is not right,”
“I know. I know that better than anyone. I know that this isn’t right, we both know it but I can’t help it,”
“Sir…”
“So, can you just take my side? Can you let all these slide? Let me help Vee, just until I succeed, just until everything is over. She will leave soon like mum, so just until then, allow me do everything I can to help her. I really want to do it, please, let me,”
“Sir, you shouldn’t be asking for my permission,”
“I know. But you’re the only one I can trust, you’re the only person who understands me better than myself, you can put your life in the line to save me because you’re being paid for it. I can’t do this without you, if we take different path, then I’ll be all alone. Just like I was the past few days,” he said, and Mr. Feng tried to fight back his tears.
“I’m so sorry, sir. I didn’t know my careless decisions could make you feel that way. I was just looking out for you. I don’t want you to get hurt,”
“Can you just allow me make those decisions while you stay behind protecting me like you’ve always done?” he said, and Mr. Feng nodded in tears.
“Good. I’ll let this all slide, with the doctor and others so you shouldn’t act rashly again,”
“Thank you, sir,”
“But how did you do it… I mean, the shaman just returned,”
“I wasn’t completely honest about that either. The shaman has been out the last full moon before the time I told you about it. They were already working on the substance but I couldn’t tell you about it because you seem preoccupied with the ghosts and others,”
“Oh…”
“I’m sorry,”
“That’s just you, Mr. Feng. Even if you will be sorry later, you’ll still do it. But let this be the end. Once this is over and I feel pressured by other ghosts, then we can try that style. I like it, even if it’s a little discomforting,” he winked, and Mr. Feng laughed.
“Are there any other talisman around? Like… anyone around the house?”
“No, the house is clean,”
“Good,”
Charles went to his room after dismissing Mr. Feng and smiled upon seeing Violet there.
“Charles,” she waved, and he went to embrace her.
“We’re free now. I already sort things with Mr. Feng,” he said, and she pulled away.
“Why’re you being so clingy?” she asked, and he looked away.
“What? It’s been weeks and you still have that grumpy personality,”
“What? You say what? Me, grumpy?”
“Hey! Are we seriously arguing now?” he asked, and they both laughed.
They both sat down later, and she started to fill him on everything that has happened so far.
“So, those two were behind it as expected,” he said.
“Yeah, Jayden is still trying to find the truck driver,”
“What will he do if he find him?”
“I don’t know. Maybe try to possess him to confess at the police station that Ella and Maxwell put him up to it,”
“Wow. Things is really easy for him since he doesn’t need an escalator to leave the body he possesses,” he said, and Violet glared at him while he stick out his tongue in mockery.
“Yeah. Good for him!” she snapped, and he laughed.
“And Carolyn, how did you guys end up bonding?”
“After I confirmed that you were fine, Jayden searched around for Carolyn until he found her,”
“And just like that you guys bonded?”
“Not really. She is really not the hard type either,”
“Oh, so you just ask for her help and she volunteered to help, is that right?”
“Not that…” she muttered, and begin the long story.

Carolyn moved into the new studio apartment that she rented and was startled to see Violet and Jayden there.
“What do you guys want again?” Carolyn asked.
After she was discharged from the hospital to her uncle’s house, they met once to apologize to her and she showed them out without saying too much.
“We need your help,” Jayden said.
“If you want to possess my body, just go ahead. You don’t need my permission to do that because you will do it anyways,”
“You’re right, but that’s not why we’re here,” Jayden said.
“What do you want from me?”
“We need your help,” Violet said.
“What makes you think I’ll help you with whatever you need my help with?” Carolyn snapped.
“Just my instinct,” Violet said.
“I just confirmed that there is a talisman driving Charles away from us and it makes us invisible to him. He is also not aware of it and we need to get it out,”
“So? You think I can help you with that because my uncle said I’m a wltch?”
“Not that. I don’t believe in wltches,” Violet said.
“Did you believe in ghost?” Carolyn asked back.
“No, not until I became one,” Violet said.
“Exactly. So I don’t care about what you believe,”
“I believe in ghosts before I became one, I know that ghosts exist but I don’t care about thier existence because I can’t see them same as wltches and others, why stress over what you can’t see?” Jayden said.
“What’s your point? “ Carolyn asked.
“You can see us, and we need your help. Charles has been helping Violet. Ivy’s life and a lot of lives are in danger and that talisman is ruining it all,” Jayden said.
“What talisman? I don’t even understand you,” Carolyn said.
“We will help you teleport to Charles’s current location so you can help us remove the talisman that is obstructing him from seeing us,”
“Why should I do that? No human wants to see ghosts,”
“Not Charles. He is suffering right now worried about Vee, but his right hand man or whatever he call him is the one behind it all. I can’t possess a body to touch the talisman, and no other human can see us expect you that we are aware of, that’s why we need your help,”
“I don’t want do get involved,”
“But you’re going to do it anyways,” Jayden said, and she looked at him.
“Carolyn, please…” Violet said.
“He should be at the hospital now, I’ll go confirm that and I’ll tell you the plan,” Jayden said.
“Are you sure that no one will get hurt?” Carolyn asked.
“Many people will, if you refuse to help,” having said that, Jayden left.

Charles looked at her in disbelief as she concluded the story.
“So… just like that she helped,”
“Yeah. Carolyn is a good person. I don’t know why people call her a wltch,”
“I know,”
“What do you know?”
“I was called different names because I could see things others can’t. Imagine how weird it is to see you,”
“Oh…”
“You really worked hard to get the talisman off, so you shouldn’t stress over this,”
“Jayden did most of the work. He possessed a lot of people to get that out of you. He even tried to possess Mr. Feng,”
“He did?” Charles asked in amusement.
“He tried, but his body was not vulnerable,”
“Wow. There are rules to these?”
“There are a lot we don’t know about these stuffs but good thing he was able to possess your brother to confirm the talisman,”
“My brother…” Charles grumbled and remembered how Dylan suddenly showed up that day.
“Oh… so he was possessed…” he exclaimed.
“I’m glad everything turned out well,” she muttered, and he smiled.
“Yeah, me too,”
“What will happen now?” Violet asked.
“Nothing. We just have to continue what we started,”
“I should go check on Carolyn,”
“Why? Why are you checking on her?” he grumbled.
“Be right back,” having said that, she teleported away.
“She is always too fast,” he muttered, and laid flat on the bed.

Charles went downstairs later trailing after Mr. Feng who went to get him.
He got to the living room, and was confused to see Carolyn there in company of Violet.
“Why is she here again?” Charles asked.
“There is a problem, Charles,” Violet muttered.
“What?” Charles asked.
“Jayden just confirmed that Ella is out on a lookout for Carolyn,”
“What? Why?”
“I don’t for now. But Carolyn isn’t safe out there because of me. I confronted Maxwell while in her body. This is all my fault,”
“Glad you know how to own up to your mistakes,”
“I know,” she muttered.
“So… what do we do about that…”
“You said your house is guarded, can Carolyn be here for the time being?”
“What?!”
“Please… you offered Ivy to move in, so I was able to convince Carolyn to come with me. She is not safe out there because of me,”
“That’s Ivy. But… she… will she be comfortable with me?”
“Carolyn needs to be in a safe place. Those studio apartments aren’t safe for her,”
“Fine. She can take that room. You have been using it anyways and… whatever,”
“Thank you,” she said, happily and embraced him to his surprise.
“Are you that happy?” he teased, and she hit him playfully before leaving.

She showed Carolyn to the room, and Carolyn looked around, delightfully.
“So, you usually live here while you’re in my body,”
“Yeah…”
“Why couldn’t you leave? Why must I always wake up in the hospital?”
“Oh… I’m sorry about that. I… I mean, I was never able to leave even when Jayden taught me to. There must be a problem with me,”
“Did you try possessing someone else?”
“No, I couldn’t. Scared that I might get stuck there. The problem is from me,”
“No, the problem might be from me,”
“What do you mean?”
“I have been seeing ghosts since I was born, and I relate with them a lot when I was a child. I was called different weird names and others but none really mattered to me. The humans aren’t nice to me, but I was very very fond of ghosts and I also watch them possess people at times and at times, I volunteer my body to them and there was a time when one of them was unable to come out,”
“And why is that?”
“Because I don’t want to be here. I want to be far away. While you are in my body I was somewhere far in an unknown place that I won’t ever remember. If you try to come out, I must be vulnerable to return but my soul was relent and probably didn’t want to return. That’s why it could only return with force,”
“Oh… that’s a bit scary,”
“What have you been doing in my body? Fill me in,” she said, and they both sat down.
Violet started to gist her on everything leaving Carolyn amazed.
“Wow. So, how will you communicate with Mr. Marian and Ivy now?”
“I don’t have to anymore. Charles can do the talking,”
“But… you will miss them,”
“I can see them everyday,”
“But you won’t be able to communicate with them,”
“I don’t have a choice,”
“What if you have one?”
“What do you mean?”
“You can always posses my body when you want to meet them, and leave later on,”
“What? No. What if I’m unable to leave?”
“You’ll be able to leave and you can only decide now. Deal?”
Carolyn stretched her hand for a shake, and Violet hesitated for a while before accepting the handshake.
“Deal,” Violet said all smiles, and Carolyn smiled back.
