Charles opened his eyes in a hospital ward and saw Mr. Feng beside him with bandage on his head.

He felt too weak to utter any words and Mr. Feng went to get the doctor immediately he saw that he was awake. The doctor attended to him and he was able to gather his strength to talk after the doctor left.

“Where is Vee?” he muttered, and Mr. Feng made a fist.

“Why’d you do it, sir?” Mr. Feng asked.

“Did what…”

“You yield her with your body when the car crashed! Why did you do it?!” Mr. Feng yelled.

“Did you just raised your voice at me?”

“I’ll do anything needed to bring you back to your senses. It’s my duty to protect you and I won’t let you throw your life away for a ghost. She is a ghost! A fúcking ghost! Do you want to be like her? Why will you put your life in the line to save her?”

“I understand that you’re concerned, but you just crossed a line. I want you to take a break, I’ll reach out to you when I need you,”

“Sir…”

“Get out,”

“Sir, I…”

“Get out or I call the security,”

“You don’t have the rights to make me take a break, because you aren’t the one who hired me. My job is to protect you, and I’ll keep on doing that even if it meant crossing a thousand line. I’ll be right outside,” having said that, he left.

“Gosh, why is he being so difficult?” he grumbled.

A nurse entered his ward later to check his drip and he used the opportunity to ask after Carolyn.

“A lady was brought in with me, what happened to her?” he managed to ask.

“Oh, she must be the one transferred to another hospital,”

“Transferred? Why? Is she in a critical condition?”

“No. She was already out of danger before her transfer,”

“So… why the transfer?”

“She was transferred right after she was brought here,”

“Why?”

“I’m sorry, sir. I don’t know the details,”

“Mr. Feng… I mean the man with me, the one involved in the accident with me. Where is he?”

“Outside,”

“Kindly summon him in,”

“Ok, sir,”

The nurse left later and Mr. Feng went in.

“Why did you transferred her away?”

“This is the end, sir,”

“End of what? What are you talking about?”

“You still don’t understand? She is gone,”

“What do you mean?”

“You can never see her again,” Mr. Feng said, and Charles started looking around for a talisman but found none.

“What nonsense are you spouting? What happened to me? Where is Vee?!”

“She is out of that body, and the real owner is out of danger,”

“So, what do you mean by I can’t see her again?”

“Because she won’t return if she has some sense of responsibility,” having said that, he turned to leave.

“What do you mean? What are you talking about?”

“Get some rest, sir,” with that, Mr. Feng left.

“Mr. Feng!” Charles shouted after him.
“What’s wrong with him?” he grumbled.

Violet sat under a tree staring blankly into space as she remembered the accident that happened again.

Everything happened so fast with the truck aiming at them, Mr. Feng crashing into another car, and Charles swiftly shielding her with his body.

“Why did he do that?” she grumbled, and she felt a presence.

“Thinking beauty. I have good news for you,” Jayden said, and she looked at him.

“Charles is awake,”

“Few hours ago. I figured that could make you feel better, but I was wrong,”

“He almost dled because of me,”

“He would’ve dled if it wasn’t for me. He and Carolyn would’ve have been d£ad,”

“When wili you stop that bragging?”

“Come on. I arrived at the right time. If I haven’t possessed that truck driver to get him off your lane, it would’ve crashed into you alongside the car. That would’ve been a fatal accident!”

“And it’s all Ella and Maxwell’s doing,”

“What do we do really? They attacked Charles and Carolyn, what worst would happen to your sister?”

“I don’t want to think about it,”

“Vee…”

“Much worse now that I remember everything,”

“What are you talking about?”

“I remember everything now, Jayden. How I dled and how I signed everything to them, I remember it all now. And I’m so scared, so scared… I don’t know. I don’t want to put anyone in danger because of me,” she grumbled, and he embraced her.

“Do you wanna go see Charles? That could help you feel better,”

“No, I can’t,”

“Why?”

“Mr. Feng was right, I would only put him in danger,” she muttered, and remembered Mr. Feng words.

FLASHBACK***
*
Immediately their car crashed, the memories she lost flooded back in before she left Carolyn’s body to look at Charles, Carolyn and Mr. Feng.

“Charles, Charles,” Violet cried.

“Sir, sir. Mr. Hewlett! Wake up, open your eyes,” Mr. Feng cried.

Ambulance arrived and took them all to the nearest hospital.

Mr. Feng would was treated, but Charles and Carolyn were admitted.

“How is he? Mr. Hewlett?” Mr. Feng asked the doctor in charge.

“He is already out of danger but he is still unconscious,”

“And the lady?”

“She wasn’t in a critical condition, she just passed out from shock, we just have to wait for her to wake up,”

“Can I see him?”

“Yes, you can. But you also need to rest,”

“Thanks,”

He went to Charles’s ward, and tears flowed down his face as he looked at him.

“This is all my fault, I should have stopped you while I can. How can I ever face your mother and grandfather if anything happened to you?” he cried.
“I’m so sorry, sir. I failed to protect you. But it’s not late, even if I might end up regretting this, I’ll make sure to protect you,” having said those words, he left and went to Carolyn’s ward to meet her fully awake.

“Who are you?” she muttered.

“Seeing you this way only means that she is no longer in there. I’m sorry that you are a victim of this, I was a victim too, so is my master,”

“I don’t understand,”

“You don’t have to. I’m gong to transfer you to a different hospital. Let’s pretend like we never met,” with that, he bowed slightly before leaving.

He returned to Charles ward and wrote a note before leaving.

Violet peak at the note wondering what he wrote and realized that the note was meant for her.
📝*At first, I thought you were a blessing sent to him but you were a curse. He is willing to put everything in the line to save you. He might be small-minded and knows very little about the world, but he don’t know how fo ignore those he cared for. I know this note will reach you somehow if I leave it here, so if you have some sense of decency, you would at least stay away from him so he won’t put his life in the line again and become like you,* it reads, and tears flowed freely down her face.

“He is right, I’m nothing but a curse to him,” she cried, and Jayden appeared.

“Are you ok? The doctor said he will be fine,” Jayden said.

“He won’t be fine. He will be in more danger because of me,”

“What are you talking about?”

“I have to go,” with that, she vanished and Jayden followed.

FLASHBACK ENDS***
*
Vivian exhaled heavily and teleported to Ivy’s school while Jayden followed.

“You can still go see him,” Jayden said.

“I rather watch over Ivy,”

“But that won’t change anything,”

“Charles almost dled because of me!”

“And worse will happen to your sister if those behind it are still roaming freely,”

“What do you want me to do?”

“You’ve been roaming around for days, Mr. Marson and Ivy are worried. Mr. Feng didn’t even let them see Charles neither did he tell them the hospital that Carolyn was transferred to,”

“What do I do?” she grumbled.

“You’ve to see Charles at least. You can’t stop this, you already started it. More lives will be in danger if you suddenly stop now. Charles, Ivy, Carolyn, and Mr. Marson,” he said, and she looked at him.
*
They appeared in Charles ward and met him in company of his brother.

“You can leave now, Dylan. Stop acting like we are families,” Charles said.

“He even have that cocky personality with his families as well,” Jayden said.

“Hearing that is a relief. I won’t have to visit again,” having said that, Dyoan left and Charles exhaled heavily.

“Charles, I’m glad to see you’re fine,” Violet said, but Charles ignored her.

“What’s gotten into him?” Jayden said.

“He is just acting up. He does that often, he is probably angry and pretending not to see me,”

“Oh, then I’ll leave you two,” with that, Jayden left.

“Charles, I understand that you’re mad at me. I’m also upset about the whole thing, everything happened because of me and I have no excuses but at least talk to me,”

“Mr. Feng!” Charles shouted, and Mr. Feng went in.

“Sir?”

“When will I be discharged? I’m already doing fine,”

“Sir, we have a little problem,”

“What’s it?”

“The chairman commandeered your house,”

“What? Why will he do that?!”

“Your things have been moved back to the mansion,”

“I was admitted for just few days and you let all these happen?! What kind of a butler are you? You can’t even do your job properly,”

“Pardon my nescience, sir,”

“You can’t even do anything right. Leave that. Which hospital was Carolyn transferred to?”

“I don’t think you should bother yourself with that, sir. I told you she is out of that body,”

“So where on earth is she?! I haven’t seen her since I woke up,”

“I don’t think I am the right person to ask that,”

“What? Can’t he see me?” Violet grumbled, and tried to touch him but her finger almost burned out scaring her.
“What just happened?” she winched.

“Sir, should I process your discharge or you will be here a little longer?”

“This place freaks me out. I want to get out of here,”

“Back to the mansion?”

“No. Just buck a suite for me,”
**
**
Violet searched around for Jayden until she found him, and she explained all her predicaments to him.

“What? You don’t mean it,” Jayden said.

“I don’t know what do to. Charles believes in shaman stuffs a lot, what if he put Mr. Feng to one in other to get rid of me?”

“Let’s go find out,” Jayden said.

They both appeared at the hospital to see Mr. Feng parking and Charles came out of the bathroom to join him.

“I’m done parking, sir,” Mr. Feng said.

“Mr. Feng, about Carolyn. Tell me where she was transferred to,”

“She has been discharged,”

“And her current location?”

“I don’t know,”

“Find her for me,”

“Sir, you shouldn’t get yourself involved with all these,”

“Just do as I say,” he muttered.

“He really can’t see us,” Jayden said, and tried to touch him but it was the same as Violet.

“Are you ok?” Violet asked.

“I’m not,” he winched.

“What do we do?”

“It’s Mr. Feng’s doing. I don’t think Charles is aware,”

“But, what could have happened? I mean…”

“Don’t panic, we wili figure it out. For now, let’s leave. We should ensure that Carolyn is fine as well,”

“Yeah, we should,”
**
**
Charles was discharged from the hospital, and he went to the suite Mr. Feng secured for him.

He wondered why Violet and Jayden didn’t show up at all and days passed while he waited for them. He wandered around to places they could be, searching around for them like lost children but it was all to no avail. He did the same thing all week and Mr. Feng started to worry trying to talk him out of his search but he paid no attention to the warnings.

During those days, he confronted his father and get access back fo his house but nothing felt the same. His daily routine was his search for Violet.

He went to Ivy’s school as usual during his search, and Ivy saw him.

“Charles,” Ivy called out, and excused himself from Jon to go to him.

“Ivy, how have you been?”

“I should be asking that. I heard about the accident. Mr. Marson and I tried to visit at the hospital, but we were denied access,”

“Why?”

“The VIP ward or something,”

“Then you should’ve gone to Mr. Feng,”

“He was the one who showed us out,”

“What? Mr. Feng did?”

“How is my sister…”

“She is out of Carolyn’s body but I haven’t seen her since the incident happened. I felt like she is trying to avoid me or something is wrong with me. Like… I lost the ability or something. Where is Carolyn?”

“She hasn’t been coming to school. What could have happened to my sister?”

“Ivy, who’s he?” Jon asked, joining them.

“Oh, he is Charles. Charles, Jon, my boyfriend,”

“Ok. Nice meeting you. I gotta go, call me when you see her,” with that, Charles left.

“Are you guys close?” Jon asked.

“Not really,”

“Why did he come here to see you?”

“It’s a small world Jon, and it doesn’t revolve around me. His being here doesn’t mean he is here for me. I gotta go, I have a class,”

“I thought you were done for the day,” Jon said.

“I’ll call you,” with that, she hurried away.
**
**
Charles thought about what Ivy said concerning Mr. Feng, so he called him on his way to meet up at the closest restaurant.

“Sir, who could have thought you wanted us to treat me to a meal?”

“Why didn’t you tell me about Mr. Marson and Ivy’s visit to the hospital?”

“Oh, that?”

“Yes, that! They were unable to see me because you showed them away. What was that for? First, you transferred Carolyn, Violet and Jayden suddenly disappeared, and now Mr. Marson and Ivy,”

“Sir, this is for the best. They disappeared on their own and I already found another lawyer to help you with your case,”

“Now I think i understand you. There is a reason behind everything, and you won’t like the outcome,”

“I’m simply fulfilling my duties to the Harrisons,”

“The Harrison are no more, I’m a Hewlett!” having said that, he left.
*
He drove off to Mr. Marson’s office and was fortunate to meet him at the parking lot about to leave.

“Mr. Marson, may I have a word?”

“I don’t think we’ve anything to discuss. Mr. Feng delivered your message,”

“I don’t care about whatever he delivered to you, but that’s not from me,”

“I’m a bit busy right now,”

“Then how can I fix an appointment?”

“You’re really persistent,” Mr. Marson exclaimed.

“Please,”
*
Mr. Marson and Charles went to his office, and Mr. Marson served him a cup of coffee.

“Mr. Feng cut all ties, he withdraw me from your case and we had a mutual agreement to keep things as it is. Your car accident was related to our ongoing case on Ms. Holt. The police are still investigating it, and a trusted prosecutor is working on it too,”

“Mr. Feng did all that himself,”

“It’s for the best, if you ask me. We can work with what we have now. If we can confirm that Mr. Martin and Miss Blake are behind the car accident, we will be able to link it to Ms. Holt’s case. What’s her take on this?”

“She isn’t here. She is out of Carolyn’s body and I haven’t seen her since the incident,”

“What could have happened?”

“The problem is from me, and I’ll figure it out. Thank you for you time,” with that, he stood up to leave

“Mr. Hewlett, be careful,”

“You too,”
*
Charles left Mr. Feng’s office and drove straight home to confront Mr. Feng.

“Mr. Feng, why did you do what I didn’t ask you to?!”

“I’m only doing my job, sir,”

“Your job? What other things have you done?’ Start talking now or leave and never return,”

“The only thing I have done so far and will continue doing is simply my job,”

“Get out!” he lashed.

He was about to go inside when Dylan drove in.

“Charles, wait!” he shouted, and Charles turned to him in confusion.

“What are you doing here?”

“I want to check something,” Dylan said, and held Charles hand and his face.

“What the heck? What’s wrong with you?”

“Nothing, see you,” with that, Dylan left.

“What has gotten into him?”

Charles went to his room and started searching his room looking for any form of talisman but found nothing, he searched everywhere and ran his fingers through his hair in frustration.

“What did he really did to me?” he grumbled.

He went to the hospital the following day to remove his plaster, and the doctor replace it with a new one.

“It’s been weeks, when will I be free from this?”

“Sir, we still need to prevent the wound from getting infected,” the doctor said.

“I feel like that will take forever,” he grumbled.

“Wait right here, I’ll get something to relieve this,” the doctor said.

“Relive what?” Charles asked but the doctor ignored him and went out.

Few minutes after the doctor left, Carolyn suddenly appeared in the room.

“Vee!” he shouted, and ran to her.
“No, you aren’t Vee, you’re Carolyn, but how…”

“The talisman, it’s in your body” Carolyn said.

“What are you talking about?”

“You can’t see her because it’s in your body. She is right here, but you can’t see her,”

“What? Where is it?”

“Allow me,” Carolyn muttered, and walked closer to him.
“You should pull off your shirt,”

“Ok,” he muttered, and take it off immediately while she looked away.
“Where is it?”

“At your back,” Carolyn said, and removed the bandage at his back revealing a talisman glued to his back.

“What?!” he shouted, and pulled it out immediately, trashing it in the bin and saw Violet right there in the room.

“Charles…” Violet mumbled.

“Vee,” he called, and embraced her.

“Charles, I’m so sorry, I’m sorry for everything,” she cried.

“I should’ve known, I should’ve pulled it out before now. I should’ve…” he muttered, and disengaged from the hug and cupped her face in his hand without minding how cold and discomforting it felt.
“I was worriedly looking for you, I knew something was wrong with me but I was also worried that you might have disappeared too leaving me behind. In as much as you’re going to remain in this world, don’t vanish on me without a proper goodbye because I want to alway have you around,” he said, and moved his lips down to hers but the door suddenly slammed opened and he pulled away to see the doctor.
