Violet stood by the poolside trying to play with water but her hands kept passing through until someone dip her hand in the water from behind.

“Charles,” she called, and looked up with a smile.

“What’re you thinking about?”

“Nothing. Just as you said, it’s a win. Max is out of the picture now, I managed to lock up the traitor. We only have Ella and Mr. Josh left,”

“But you don’t seem happy about it,”

“About his arrested, no. But having Ella out there and as the one who plotted it all baffles me. Can we really beat her? That was our chance, who knows that she could turn it all on Maxwell?”

“There is always another chance,”

“It almost cost us our lives to get that chance. You, Mr. Feng, and Carolyn. What other chances do we have to take?”

“I don’t know. What I know right now is that we are winning. She is all alone with the secretary right now,”

“And a supporting plan B and C. Ella got this all planned from the start,”

“What have you ever done to her?”

“My crime was being her friend, standing up against my parents for her. Involving her in my family and allowing her have a say in everything. That was my crime,”

“And if you could turn hand time?”

“I can’t,”

“If you could,”

“I would’ve listened to my parents,”

“They never wanted you to be friends with her?”

“They never wanted her in our house, they never wanted me to be with Max either. They were solely against him that we could only get married after they passed away,”

“Wow. It was that bad?”

“My parents disgusts Max because he was an orphan. He grew up in the orphanage home with the name his family left after they gave him away. My family and I always volunteer at the orphanage but Ella and I did most of the volunteer work. He was one of the lucky few that my parents sponsored through school, but they almost ended the scholarship because of our relationship. To my parents, he isn’t the type of partner that I need in my life, even though they don’t approve, they can never force me so I fought for him… I was stupld. Then the accident happened, and we got married right after,”

“If the accident never happened?”

“I don’t know. We might likely still be on it, or, I don’t know. It was two years ago, we were merely married for a year,”

“Your parents passed away in an accident two years ago, you married him a year after and they kllled you almost immediately,”

“What are you assuming?”

“How exactly did your parents dled?”

“Are you trying to say that it was plotted?”

“Just answer me “

“It was a clear accident,”

“Was it investigated?”

“It was… a brake failure. The brake of their car failed, and they crashed into a truck,”

“A truck?”

“It was a clear accident,“

“Did they find the truck?”

“No. There was no use in looking for it. The truck was the victim, so it fled, the diver would have returned for compensation, but he didn’t,”

“Are you putting this together?”

“What do you mean?”

“If you don’t understand what I meant, I guess that explains how you kept two enemies by your side unknowingly,”

“It’s not Ella’s doing,”

“Defending her?”

“I’m not!”

“If she plotted all this from the get-go, your parents execution will also be a part of her plan. She need them out of the way if you wili inherit everything, and they were also a barrier to your relationship with your husband whom she planned this with,”

“No. My parents d£ath was an accident, and that’s on period!” with that, she teleported away.

“Had a fight with her?” Jayden said from behind.

“I assume you heard us,”

“What if your assumptions are true? It won’t change anything,”

“It will,” with that, Charles headed to the parking lot.

“Where are you going?” Jayden asked.

“None of your business!”

“Sir, are you heading out?” Mr. Feng asked.

“The keys,” he muttered, and Mr. Feng gave it to him.

He drove off and Jayden followed.

“Don’t follow me,” Charles said.

“You don’t have a choice,”

“I do. I can always ask Mr. Feng to get me a substance to send you to demise,”

“You wouldn’t do that,”

“What gave you that assurance?”

“I just know it,”

“Because you’re helping Vee, she can possess anyone now, we don’t really need your help anyone if you ask me,”

“You think so?”

“We were doing just fine without you,”

“Were you really?”

“Gosh. This is boring,” Charles muttered and turned up the music while Jayden chuckled.

He pulled over at the detention centre and Jayden held him back.

“What do you think you’re doing here?”

“Trying to get some answers,”

“Are you nut?”

“I’m the victim here,” with that, he alighted from the car.

He went to the chief’s office, and after some words with the chief, Maxwell was brought out to him.

“Hi, Maxwell,” Charles said, and Maxwell looked at him.

“Who are you?”

“The victim. Hi, I’m Charles Hewlett,”

“It wasn’t me,”

“I know, but she is going to dump it on you,”

“What nonsense…”

“Not just this, but also Violet’s d£ath,”

“Ella can’t do that me,”

“But she already started,”

“This is all a misunderstanding. I don’t understand what you’re talking about,”

“No, you do. And she won’t stop there, she’ll also pin Ve— I mean, Violet’s parents, she’ll pin thier d£aths on you,”

“What Violet’s parents?”

“Are we still playing denial?”

“I don’t understand what you’re talking about,”

“You might be wrong,” Jayden said, and Charles tick his teeth.

“Anyways, see you in court,” having said that, Charles left and returned to his car.

“Is that all you got?” Jayden teased.

“You might be right, or he might be wrong,” Charles said.

“What does that mean?”

“It means that her parent’s d£ath might be an accident, or Maxwell don’t know about it. He might be oblivious to the whole plan like now,”

“You think she did it alone?”

“She might,”

“And what do you plan to do now?”

“Poking into other’s business like it’s mine,” Charles winked, and dialed Mr. Marson’s number and Jayden chuckled.

“You’re indeed poking into other’s business,” Jayden teased.

Ella went to visit Maxwell with a lawyer in jail, and he was brought out to her.

“Ella, what’s going on?”

“What do you mean?”

“Everything. And why did it took you this long to vist?”

“I brought your lawyer,”

“Why do I need one? I didn’t do anything. Why is this happening?”

“Mr. Smith, can you excuse us for a bit?”

“Sure, take your time,” Mr. Smith (the lawyer) said, and excused himself.

“What’s really happening, Ella? I don’t understand. Why is this happening to me?”

“Maxwell, I don’t know how best to explain this but everything was my doing,”

“You set me up?”

“Not really. The man has a grudge against you, I didn’t know beforehand,”

“What man?”

“The truck driver,”

“Who the h£ll is he?”

“Daniel,”

“Daniel?”

“Yes, your friend from the orphanage,”

“Why does he has a grudge against me?”

“Because he thought you abandoned him after you met a rich girl. Don’t worry, I’ll get you out of this, we are on this together, Maxwell. We have always been,”

“How do I get out?”

“The lawyer has a way to get you out. He assured me and I believe him. We have a recording that can prove your innocence, trust me. Mr. Josh recommended him. But we have a little problem “

“What’s it?”

“Mr. Josh said this could affect the new investment, and also the board members can’t find out about this “

“So what do we do?”

“This is the only solution,” she said, and gave him some documents.

“What’s this?”

“Shares transfer,”

“Obviously. Why would I transfer my shares to you?”

“Maxwell, thats our only choice to save the company. You will request for a sick break, and also sign this to put Mr. Josh in charge before you leave. We can’t let anyone know that you have police issues,”

“But why must I transfer my shares to you?”

“Because the boards might go against us. Someone around needs to defend Mr. Feng with enough shares,”

“But…”

“Don’t you trust me?”

“I’d be a f0ol to trust you with everything going on now,”

“Turn out I’m the big f0ol for trusting you all these while,”

“Violet’s parents, did you kllled them?”

“What are you talking about?”

“Mr. and Mrs. Holt,”

“Why would I klll people that are already d£ad?”

“Was it an accident?”

“Maxwell, why are you asking me all these out of the blues?”

“Because I don’t trust you,”

“Well, that’s your problem. If everything fall through, I can as well just bring Ivy back to maintain the company till you return,” with that, she stood up.

“Wait. I’m sorry,”

“About what?”

“For doubting you. I’m just a little confused with everything going on,”

“So all that made you think of me as a m0nster, and you believed I was behind all unfortunate events,”

“It’s all his doing. Charles Hewlett or whatever he is,”

“What? He visit you. Tell me everything you talked about,”

“Nothing important,”

“I demand to know! We are in this together, Maxwell so we shouldn’t hold any information, and remember, we can’t share everything with Mr. Smith either,”

“Ok,” he muttered, and told her everything.

“Is that all?”

“Yeah. He is just… forget it,”

“So, are we doing this?” she asked, pointing at the document.

“You’re right, Ella. We are in this together. I’m sorry for doubting you,”

“When you’re out, we’ll get married, and everything will be ours,”

“Yeah, it’s all ours,” he said, and she smiled looking at him as he signed it.

“Good. Then, Mr. Smith will handle the rest,”

“I also want to see Mr. Josh,”

“I’ll inform him,”

“I don’t understand why Daniel is doing this to me,”

“We will find out soon enough. I’ll call Mr. Smith over,” Ella said, and he nodded.

**
Chafes met with Mr. Marson and told him about his suspicion.

“What’s this? I have always believed that Vera dled in an accident, but now this?”

“Can you give me the details?”

“It was during her birthday. They were too busy on her birthday, so their tight schedule made them postpone the outing and they had the accident,”

“And the driver?”

“Mr. Holt drove himself. He always drives himself during their dates,”

“Oh,”

“What made you come up with such assumptions?”

“Because it seems like Ella had it all planned all along, and she is going to dump the whole shit on Maxwell,”

“That’s more like her,”

“What do you mean by that?”

“If she has all these planned, then it’s more like her. I never trusted her,”

“Did she have any grudge against the Holt family or she is doing this merely from greed?”

“Both, if I should answer that. Ella might probably be blaming the Holt for what happened to her family?”

“What happened to her family?”

“They went bankrupt years ago,”

“What part does the Holt played in it?”

“It’s a long story, Charles. Not a story for today but I’ll look into this,”

“We should keep it from Vee, she doesn’t want to believe it, so we shouldn’t force it on her,”

“Sure,”

“And Ivy too,”

“Don’t worry, Charles, nothing is certain yet we only have assumptions, telling others will only stir things up,”
**
**
Ella met up with Mr. Josh at a discreet restaurant and gave the signed documents to him leaving him amazed.

“Wow. How did you convince him?”

“I don’t convince people, I give them choices. Just like you,”

“You’re meticulous,”

“I believe we’re on same boat now,”

“Always and forever,”

“Send a mail to others and request an emergency board meeting to discuss this,”

“I’ll get that done immediately,”

“Good. So you keep the company going, and I’ll take care of Maxwell. He wants to see you,”

“Do I have to see him?”

“That’s your choice. But don’t break our bond, you don’t want to cross me,”

“I have no reasons to, Miss Blake,”

“Convincing enough,” with that, she carried her bag to leave.
**
She get home later and went to her room feeling fulfilled.

She took her family frame and smiled.

“Very soon, very soon, I’ll restore the Blake’s name, and you’ll proudly return to the city,” she said all smiles.
