Paul and Charlotte had a blissful relationship, and Grace didn’t bother them at all. She distanced herself from the two of them, and stated hanging out more often with her other friends. She was rumored to be dating a guy with a bad reputation, and Paul confronted her to breakup with him, but she gave him a condition that she would stay away from her other friends if he breakup with Charlotte and date her instead, with that, he never confronted her regarding anything again.
*
Charlotte woke up from bed one pleasant morning when she heard the doorbell, and she went out to see Paul already inside.
“Paul, why are you here so early?” She asked: he went to embrace her.
“Are you ok?” He asked, and she released from the embrace to look at him.
“What do you mean? I’m fine.” She said in confusion, and she let out a sigh. “You haven’t watched the news.” He said, and she looked at him.
She turned on her TV, and saw the news about her family – her grandfather’s company was shut down for illegal activities that involved drug trafficking, a search and seizure was issued, and the police found records of fraudulent activities, so her grandfather was arrested alongside her father, and some other significant board members that linked to the investigation. Her grandfather shot himself immediately, and her father was apprehended.
Charlotte felt weak immediately, and eventually passed out.
“Charlotte, Charlotte.” Paul shouted, hitting her to wake up.
*
Charlotte and Paul travelled back immediately, and Charlotte went to the police station to see her father.
“Daddy, how could this happened?” She cried, and he smiled.
“I’m glad to see you are fine. Charolette I always tell you not to be a weakling. Daddy is locked up here, there is no one to protect you so you have to standup for yourself. You aren’t a child anymore. “
“But daddy… what can I do? You have always protected me all my life, and now you are locked up here.”
“Now you’ve to learn to protect yourself, and be strong. Do you remember the vacation house by the countryside we visited when you were 5, you lost your bracelet there and we had a tough time looking for it.” He said, and she nodded.
“Yes, I remember.”
“Ok, there is a basement in that house, it’s more of a safe, there is pill of cash there. Take enough money to Don, and go far away with the rest. Don’t ever return, I don’t want you to face any the consequences of my mistake. You should forever remain my innocent and beautiful daughter.”
“Daddy, does that mean all the allegations are true? I want to know the truth daddy. They won’t even allow me hold a funeral for grandpa.” She cried.
“Don’t worry about that, worry more about yourself. I don’t want you to be judged by the Floods’ mistakes. Go far away, Charlotte, change your name and don’t look for me. Don will hire good lawyers for me, so my sentence will be reduced. I’ll be the one to look for you then.”
“You want me to abandon you? Not just you, my family!” She yelled.
“That’s the only way I can protect yoy now. Don’t get involved with a damaged family.”
“Never dad. It’s enough that this bracelet is the only memory of mum I had. I never knew my mother, but you never made me feel her absence, and now you want me to abandon you? Thank you for raising me well dad, you raised me too well that I don’t how to abandon those I love for mh selfish interest. I know I don’t say this often, but you the person I cherish the most, you and grandpa. And grandpa is not even here anymore…” she cried.
“That’s enough, Charlotte!” He shouted, startling her. “You, will listen to me.”
“Since I’ve the upper hand dad, you don’t scare me anymore.” She blurted, and ran off.
“Charlotte, Charlotte.” He shouted, but she was already out of sight.
*
Charlotte boarded a taxi in tears, and ignored Paul who has been calling her line the whole time. She has always known that her father business wasn’t fully legal, but there was nothing she could do about it.
Her phone rang again, and she picked it ip this time, but before she could utter a word, the cab she entered clashed into a trunk that was aiming at them, and her vision went blank.

<<<<BACK TO PRESENT >>>>
^
Paulina made up her mind after Sage dropped her home, his family were so cool, even though his father asked too many questions, she still felt comfortable with them and started giving her situation a thought.
Even though Micheal was willing to help her get back at Ava, he is sly and can’t fully trust him. Although he reminded her a lot about her childhood friend, but the whole similarly doesn’t make sense. He is an elite, and her childhood friend was the opposite.
She instantly made up her mind to stay away from him, singe being with him will affect her friendship with Sage, and she don’t want to loose a good friend because of her selfishness.
*
She prepared for school the following day, and saw Ava also heading out. She ignored her, and continued on her way but Ava pulled her hair.
“It’s not over yet, bltch.” Ava blurted.
“Let me go.” She shouted, and pulled Ava’s hair as well.
“Have you lost it?” Ava shouted, and released her immediately.
Paulina adjusted her hair properly, and smirked “I won’t let you step on me anymore, Ava. To the others, I might be leaching off your family, but we both know I’m a Stanford, so mind your attitude from now henceforth became we both have equal rights here.” She said, and Ava scoffed in disbelief.
“Equal rights you say! You are an illegitimate, a result from a wh0re, so you can never have equal rights with me.”
“I’ll embrace that as my flaw, but your father also has a part to play, our father, precisely. The next time you play any funny game with me again, I’ll show you that being an illegitimate is my only flaw, I’m not leaching off anyone.” With that she left.
She wanted to go out to get a cab, but she retreated, and went to the driver.
“You, you aren’t Ava’s driver, right?” She asked.
“Yes, ma’am.”
“Good! Since you are free, take me to school.” She said, and he nodded, leading her to a car.
*
She arrived at school, and met Sage in that parking lot.
“Hey Lina.” He called out, walking towards her.
“Hi.” She waved, and he held her hand.
“You got a ride?” He asked, and she shook her head.
“Not really, chairman at Sanford’s car.” She muttered, and he looked at her.
“He must be really fond of you.”
“Kind of.” She grumbled hoping he stops there.”
They headed to the elevator together, and her face twist in a frown when Micheal approached them. She is determined not to listen to his reasons for locking her up but he took her by surprise with his kiss.
She wanted to pull away and slapped him but her body wasn’t in the same agreement with her, and she felt like she was glued to a position until someone pushed him away breaking the kiss, and she gather herself together to look at Sage who grabbed Micheal by the collar.
“How dare you take advantage of her?” Sage shouted.
“This is gonna be the last time I’ll tolerate this, get your hands off me!” Michael yelled, and jabbed Sage’s hand away; with that, they both combat in a fight.
“Stop it, that’s enough!” Paulina shouted, and stood between them to stop the fight.
“You, who do you think you are to hit me? Is she your girlfriend? Know your place and stick to it.” Michael said, before leaving with his friends.
“Lina, are you ok?” Sage asked.
“You are the one who got hit, I shouod be asking you that.”
“I didn’t get hit, we fought, and I would have thought that j£rk a lesson if you hadn’t stopped me.”
“You ought to be proud of that.” Sophia clapped as she joined them. “What’s really going on? Lina, what’s between you and Mike, why would he kiss you?”
“There is nothing between us, and I’m going to go confront him later.” Paulina said.
“No, you shouldn’t.” Sage muttered.
“Yes, I agree with Sage, but not on same page. I think Mike likes you, girl.” Sophia giggled.
“You should stay away from him. I told you not to be close to guys like him. He could advantage of you.” Sage said, and Paulina nodded.
“Hey, we are late for class.” Sophia said hoping that helps change the topic, and they all find their way to the elevator.
Sage and I Sophia left when it gets to their floor, and Steven entered the elevator.
Paulina gazed at him before looking away wondering why he was alone, and in the elevator with alone with her. Then she instantly remembered his pendant.
“About your pendant… I left it at home, I’ll make sure to bring it tomorrow.” She said, and he chuckled.
“You should worry more about yourself.” He blurted, and she looked at him.
“What do you mean by that?” She asked back.
“I got bad grades, but I could still understand that.” He said.
The elevator got to their floor, and they both stepped out.
“Why are you suddenly talking to me?” She asked – she ought to ask that, but he ignored her and walked ahead of her.
*
She went to class, and let out s sigh when she realized she had to sit next to Mike and his friends. She put herself together, before going to her seat, and Mike didn’t spare her a glance all through until it was time for recess.
She intend to hurry out of the class, but he blocked her path.
“Just a moment.” He said, and she followed him to their suite.
His friends excused them to be alone, and she let out a sigh wondering why he had to bring her there.
“Remember, this is my word, I can get away with anything I do.” He said, and she glared at him.
“Are you trying to explain the kiss? Because I believe I need an explanation to that.”
“Not that.”
“So what?”
“About the locked door, it wasn’t me.”
“Why should I believe that?”
“Because I can get away with it even if it was me. The door got stuck, you just had to push harder for it to open.” He said, she laughed.
“I see… Mike, you could get away with whatever you do, so you can spare me the lame excuses.”
“I sent my secretary there to confirm it. This is the video.” He said, and she looked at him.
“What? You sent your secretary all the way there?” She shouted.
“I had to, because I know you won’t believe me. This is the video he sent to me. I couldn’t tell you back then, because I also wanted to take advantage of the situation to be closer to you, I’m sorry.” He muttered, and she looked at him.
“Why did you wanted to take advantage of the situation? To get back at Ava?” She asked, wondering the length he was willing to go just to get back at her.
“Not just that. I was embarrassed after I mess up the last time. You trusted me but I couldn’t do anything when they wronged you. So we could say it trigger me to want to her back at her even more, and…”.
“And what?”
“You asked too much questions, how did you even get involved with the Stanford’s to begin with?”
“Do you expect me answer that. You were able to justify the locked door, but how about that kiss.”
“Errmm… about that… it’s all the same. I was just sticking to the agreement.”
“Was kissing part of the agreement?”
“Come on, stop emphasizing on that. It’s not even a kiss, it was more of a peck on your closed lips. You didn’t even open your mouth.” He said, and she scoffed in disbelief.
“Really? Is that your justification?”
“I’m sorry if I caught you off guard.”
“You know what, I’m done here.” She blurted, and intend to leave but he dragged her back.
“You can’t just go. The whole school now think I like you, so will you handle that? Incase you don’t know, I’ve a lot of crush in this school, tons of secret admirers and they can be really scary.”
“So?”
“To ensure your safety, you’ve to stick to me.”
“In your dreams.” She blurted, and turned to leave.
“If you know what’s best for you, you would stick with me, remember we still have an agreement.” He said, and she exhaled heavily.
“Can I leave now?” She blurted, and he shook his head.
“Let’s get rid of Ava completely together, but before we do that I’ve to ensue that you are safe from potential harm. Be my girl, let that be the beginning.” He said, and she glared at him.
“You must have lost your mind.”
“I’m not proposing to you, you aren’t even my type. Let’s just pretend to date, and leave the rest to me.”
“How will that help me get rid at Ava?”
“Do you trust me?
“No!” She blurted.
“Ouch… you just hurt my pride. I told you earlier, this is my world, and if you are mine no one would dare hurt you, and Ed could both work together from there. Remember, you will be tagged a sIut, we kissed earlier.” He said, and she slopped him.
“Ouch…”
“I should’ve done that earlier.”
“Seriously?” He shouted.
“I don’t know how to plan to get rid of Ava, but I had enough of her as well. If you can make her return abroad, then we are good. Just a month, if you fail to get rid of her within a month, then we call it quit.”
“Are you my girlfriend now?” He teased.
“In your dreams.” She shouted, and he laughed.

SOMEWHERE IN AN UNKNOWN PLACE ^^^
^
A patient opened moved her fingers gently, and opened her eyes. Her vision was blurry, but she could see a man in the room, although she couldn’t get a proper view of him.
She tried to open her mouth, but it felt too heavy to open so all she could do was stare at the man.
The man turned to look at her later, and rushed to her side when he saw that she was awake.
“Charlotte, I’m glad you are awake.” He said holding her hand, and she looked at him wondering who he could be.
*
A nurse attended to her lager, and she became a little better after a long nap.
“Charlotte, do you remember me?” The man asked, and she looked at him.
She be lined that all her memories were intact, but she can’t remember how she ended up in the hospital and whoever he might be, what scare her more was how worried her daughter must’ve been.
“How king have I been here? What happened to me?” She thought
“Charolette, it’s me, Louis.” The man said, and her eyes widened, her heavy mouth open immediately, after hearing his name.
“Louis…”. She managed to call, and he went to hold her hand.
“I’m sorry I was late, Charlotte.” He said, and placed a kiss on her fingers.
