????? ??? ???? ???????.

Meira’s eyes zoomed in and out of focus. At first, everything seemed to be merged into one blurry image, but she could still make out the chandelier in her room. Swallowing her saliva she groaned and sat up in bed, reaching for her glasses that were supposed to be on her bedside table next to the lava lamp. She felt around for it, and looked over, but it was nowhere to be found. This greatly puzzled her, the pair of limited-edition glances she received from Vietnam was always on her table.

For it to not be there means it had been moved–

“No, no, no, no, no! That tramp with a bottle shaped head did not move my glasses! That’s my favorite pair,” Meira then searched beneath her pillows and found a spare pair she always kept in close range. Now able to see again the sight before her was not one she expected to come across. “Aaah! Mom! Someone help! Aaah!”

She recoiled in utter fear till her back was against the headboard. Four tall males stood in her room, around her bed, intently looking down at her.

“Who are you guys and what are you doing in my room?” she bellowed at them, feigning bravery.

“Woah, chillax baby girl. We’re not gonna eat you, but Venom might,” the male closest reassured her. Meira’s heart had flew below the earth’s crust when she really took in his appearance. “Heck, he wouldn’t mind eating me too. Wait, that sounds gay.”

“I don’t eat sh!t,” the male opposite him smirked, which pissed the previous one off. “Sorry dude, it ain’t a part of my diet.”

“If Carnage didn’t ask us to not make noise I’d roast you so bad not even Satan would want your charred *ss in hell. Better watch it or I’ll do something I most likely won’t regret.”

“Come at me then Füçkface I ain’t afraid of you.”

“Swing then Füçker I ain’t scared of you either!”

“Guys, I think she’s traumatized,” the third male by the bed end said, stopping the playful argument.

Meira, who was curled on her bed hugging a pillow, stared soundlessly. She was so silent she heard the beats of her heart in her ears. She didn’t know if she was nervous, afraid, or captivated by their unique handsomeness. There was a high possibility she was all three.

“Guys, I got this,” the first male cleared his throat and sported a breathtaking smile. “Since I don’t know your name, I’m gonna call you Snow. Good morning, Snow, on behalf of the gang I apologize for disturbing your sleep. We just thought you were d**d because you slept like a log, we wanted to make sure you weren’t because Carnage would slaughter us if something happened to you. Let me introduce myself and my homeboys; My name is Neon, that over there is Venom, and these two are Korpse and Bandit.

“We circled the crib yesterday on Ryat’s behalf and met what we thought was a crime scene. You fainted on spot so Venom brought you inside. Don’t be scared, Snow, we don’t bite, we promise.”

She thoroughly scanned each of them from head to, well, knees because she couldn’t see their feet. They looked like they’d just waltzed out of magazines, the two closest to her were especially captivating. Meira was certain her cheeks were red, they felt warm. Now shy more than scared she blinked meekly and habitually pulled strains of her hair behind her ear.

Neon, the one on her left, was tall with an athletic body type. He had astonishing dirty blonde hair done in a stylish wolf cut hairstyle. His cat-like whiskey-colored eyes were dreamy–literally hypnotizing–and framed by dark lashes. Further down below his straight nose were peachy moist lips, a gold ring was hooked at the corner of his bottom lip as well. The tattoo he had on the right side of his neck–a question in Spanish with three blue morpho butterfly tattoos–glowed against his pale ivory skin. On the other side were multiple rose tattoos and he had multiple ear piercings.

Venom had lustrous silky jet-black hair in an undercut style was tied at the back in a ponytail, a few stubborn strands fell down the sides of his face. His emerald-green eyes were impossibly bright and intoxicating, like jewels left in sea water on an abandoned beach. His bushy brows were slit, lips moist from him just licking them, and he possessed beautiful honey brown skin. He had a slightly more sinewy physique than his friends, and lastly, his ears were gauged.

As for the last two males, Korpse had an overall dark aesthetic. He had a round face and subtle chocolate-brown curls on his head, piercing ocean-blue eyes, two slanted slits on each of his eyebrows, and two black rings hooked at the corners of his lower lip. Around his neck was a black collar with spikes, and a tattoo of a clown.

Lastly, there was Bandit. He possessed enviable chestnut brown hair that faded into this flaming orange color. At the right side was a rogue cornrow that lead down his head. His eyes were a green and bronze hazel–the colors perfectly complimented each other. He had no piercing or tattoo visible, unlike his companions, but the diamond studded Cuban link around his neck was eye-catching.

Their looks coupled with their aesthetic clothing would make anybody look twice when they walked by. It was as if four supermodels were in her room, Ryat would’ve made five.

“I don’t think she heard you bro, hey!”

Meira flinched. “Hmm? What?”

“Korpse has been calling you for like fifteen minutes now. You’re looking at him, but you’re not answering, and you’re drooling,” Venom smirked.

Horrified, she grabbed her makeup mirror and looked, she didn’t even feel it running from the corner of her lips. How embarrassing was that?

Meira’s room door suddenly slammed against her wall out of nowhere. Startled, she looked over at it and met Ryat standing with his hands on the wall above the threshold. She breathed a sigh of relief. “Ryat! Oh, thank God you’re here. Tell these guys to get out of my room. Where’s my mom? What happened to Theodore? Should we go to the station?”

She didn’t notice the four boys slowly–and very cautiously–backing away from her until they were across the room.

“My ‘father’ forced me to drink water from a dog’s kennel when I was ten. Do I look like I give two Füçks about what happened to him? Could’ve been ran over by Füçking train I don’t give a d@mn,” he strolled into the room, stopped at the end of her bed, then peered over his shoulder behind him. “Bounce,” it wasn’t a request, it was an order.

One by one the boys silently left, only Venom and Neon secretly smiled when Ryat wasn’t looking.

“What’s your name, little girl?”

“I’m not a little girl, I’m eighteen–”

“I don’t remember asking.”

“…” she frowned. “You’re grumpy. My name is Meira. Didn’t Theodore already tell you at the dinner on Friday?”

“Ain’t it obvious I don’t care enough to remember?”

His response stung her heart.

Ryat walked closer until his legs were touching her bed. “Meira,” he said her name as if he could taste it on his tongue, “That’s a dumb name.”

“Excuse me?” she gritted her teeth in anger.

“I didn’t come here to argue with a kid. I came here to deliver a message; a warning,” Ryat came to stand next to her and dropped the motorcycle helmet he had came in with on the bedside table. He was wearing a black leather jacket with spikes all over it, black gloves with the fingertips cut off, black jeans ripped at the knees and thighs, completed with black army boots. “Stay. Away. From. Me. I’m not your stepbrother. If I ever hear you telling people that, or that we live together, I’m gonna make you regret your existence more than you already do. I’m not playing any games with you, little dove. Look into my eyes,” he leaned in closer, “I’m not Füçking playing with you.”

Meira swallowed hard, not sure why he was behaving this way. Is something wrong with him?

“Hey!”

“Eek!” he was now tightly gripping her chin and hauled her face closer, their noses accidentally touching. Something ran under her skin, like an electric current the moment their skin made contact, and she shivered involuntarily. “Ryat?”

His jaw ticked, fingers squishing her cheeks roughly. “I’m not one to repeat myself, but I’m in a good mood. Stay away from me, my friends, and my goddamn room. Or I swear to God I’ll you cry harder than you’ve ever done before in your life.”

Days ago, Meira had accidentally wandered into his room and snooped around. She didn’t find anything interesting and left. She’d never told anyone she was there, how he knew is shocking.

Ryat’s eyes were near black, brows highly arched, nostrils flared and lips down turned. He wasn’t playing. He looked genuinely pissed off at her.

Naturally, tears gathered in her eyes and freely ran down her cheeks. A growing pain in her chest.

“I-I’m s-sorry, I didn’t mean to. I’m sorry,” her lips quivered. “It was an accident. I didn’t know it was your room… I’m so sorry.”

Something flashed in Ryat’s eyes at the speed of lightning, Meira was too slow to catch it.

“This conversation is over,” Ryat shoved her face away and straightened. He grabbed his helmet and walked out.

Shortly after he left, Meira was softly sobbing on her bed. The door creaked and she looked up to see Belinda–in her black and white maid uniform–peaking pitifully at her.

“What do you want?” she sniffed.

“Mr. Hamilton sent me to deliver a message to you. He said you should get dressed and come downstairs, he’ll be taking you to the police station meet your mother,” she walked inside, cheeks red. “I don’t mean to be nosey, but what was Ryat and those boys doing in your room?”

“I don’t know, I woke up and saw them here. Ryat came and told me he h@tëd me,” technically she wasn’t lying, his body language said what his mouth couldn’t. “Why’s he being so mean to me?”

“Don’t be sad, Meira, Ryat h@tës everybody, and he has a good reason to. This family, and community, wasn’t the nicest to him,” Belinda sat next to her on the bed. “He probably h@tës women after he was framed by his ex-girlfriend for r***. She wanted him to waste housands of dollars on her, he refused, so she cheated on him with a friend, and when he left her she proceeded to do what she did. Last I’ve heard she ran off to California and recently got engaged to the guy she left Ryat for.”

“But weren’t they young at the time? Isn’t Ryat almost twenty now? That would mean they were around fifteen–” her eyes widened.

“Yep, welcome to Arkville where the corrupted live in harmony.”

She sighed and directed one pointed stare at Belinda. “Okay, now get out of my room. You’re no longer needed.”

“Yes ma’am,” she stood and bowed to her. “Meira, I know my words are useless, but I am sincerely sorry for what happened. I was st*pid, blinded by love and the promise of a life that only exists in fairy tales. I was wrong for what I did. I’m sorry.”

Meira thought for a while and remembered something. “It’s too late to apologize,” she climbed out of the queen-sized bed and walked to her ensuite, “Tell Theodore I’ll be down soon.”

Belinda could only hold her head down. Meira had always been good to her, though they weren’t related by blood. Only her and Ryat were blood-related. She’d always been kind and supportive, even when she wasn’t the best of friends or step-cousin. What she did was wrong, st*pid, and unforgivable–and she is aware of this. She can only hope Meira finds it in her heart to forgive her, till then, she’ll have to scrub toilets and wash hundreds of dishes in order to survive.

She looked down at her tummy and touched it, her baby would have to grow up fatherless, just like did.

????? ?? ????????.

Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton, along with Meira and a few relatives that lived nearby, walked out of the Arkville Police Station exhausted from a tiring questioning section. After the officers couldn’t link Syahla to the gruesome m*rd*r she was released, the heart attack Theodore had turned out to not be life threatenining but it was that he had cancer. It was one misfortune after the other.

Police vehicles were all around the area, it was dark out except for the flooding white lights on the station building and a lone street lamp down the road. The chauffeur opened the door for the family to enter, he and the limo were outside the chain link fence. Before the family could safely climb into the vehicle another one showed up and parked behind it.

Meira looked over curiously. The passenger door at the front seat swung open and someone stepped out. They looked to be male. Meira’s heart froze, breath hitched in her throat, eyes going wide. She recognized that watch on his left wrist, it was none other than her ex.

“Christopher?” she called out, looking him up and down.

“My love!” he exclaimed breathlessly, “I came as fast as I could. How I’ve missed you–”

“You’ll be missing a tooth or two depending on how hard I’m gonna smack you,” Syahla removed her earrings and tied her hair in a messy ponytail.

No one was able to stop her, she began chasing Christopher with a flip-flop slipper around the blue Lamborghini he arrived in.

Meira face-palmed herself. She was so done.
