CHAPTER 48
☆☆☆ WHERE ARE BABIES MADE FROM?☆☆☆
“Bella, your phone is ringing,” Vincenzo grumbled, reaching for her phone with eyes half-shut. As Mirabella exited the bathroom, she retrieved the phone. Vincenzo promptly returned to his slumber.
“Hello?” Her gentle voice answered.
“Hello, bunny,” Marco’s voice purred, causing her to nervously bite her lip. “Don’t hang up, honey. I’ve missed you terribly. It’s been five years… don’t you think we need to catch up?” He inquired, and she glanced back at the sleeping Vincenzo.
If he discovered she was speaking to Marco, she’d be in hot soup. She sighed softly before accepting the invitation.
She had pressing questions, particularly about the D’Angelos’ properties. Losing Matrix Company had been a nightmare, but today, she hoped for a positive turn off.
As she finished getting dressed, Vincenzo had already awakened. “Where are you headed?” he inquired, reaching for a carton of milk in the fridge.
“I’m going to see a friend,” she replied, and he squinted at her.
“A friend? Bella, as far as I know, you don’t have any friends,” he retorted, and she scoffed.
“I do have friends, even if we don’t talk all the time. I’m leaving now,” she declared, picking up her bag.
Vincenzo observed her attire, which was quite unusual for her. She was clad entirely in black, and all her clothes appeared rather baggy.

“Good morning, princess,” Grace greeted as Hailey descended the stairs in her pajamas. Hailey rubbed her eyes and glanced around, her face contorted in a pout.
“Vee… mum!” Tears welled up in her eyes. “Vee!” She called out while heading towards his room.
Grace followed, picking Hailey up. “Hey, don’t cry. Your dad will be back soon, okay?”
“Okay… Where’s Rico?” Hailey asked, sniffing and wiping her runny nose on Grace’s dress.
Grace chuckled softly. “Children always misbehave. Rico is at school,” she replied, and Hailey burst into tears.
“No! I don’t want to be alone!” She cried loudly, and Grace comforted her.
“It’s okay, baby. I’m here with you,” Grace reassured her, though Hailey continued to sob and smear her tears and snot on Grace’s dress. Grace sighed in frustration.
“Mirabella!!! Come and take your child with you!” She groaned.
“I want Rico! I want to see Rico!” Hailey cried, kicking her legs in the air.
“Please, don’t give me a headache, baby girl,” Grace pleaded and gently placed her on the bed.
Suddenly, Adriana burst into the room. “What the heck was that? You scared me!” Grace exclaimed, breathing heavily.
“Grace! Grace!” Adriana yelled, and Grace glanced around, realizing she was the only Grace present.
“Hello! I’m right here. Keep it down,” Grace said.
“My water just broke! Grace! I think the baby’s coming!” Adriana screamed.
“What!? Now!? Oh no, Jesus!” Grace rushed to find a solution, knowing that it was just the three of them at home, and Hailey was too young to assist in this situation.
“Okay, uhh… breathe, be strong, Anna,” Grace said, attempting to help her.
The maids rushed to their assistance as little Hailey watched in fascination, her lips slightly parted, never having witnessed such a scene before.
“What’s happening? Why is she in so much pain?” She asked the maid who was holding her.
“Because she’s about to give birth to a baby,” the maid explained. Hailey glanced at Adrianna, who was being helped into the car.
“I’m never gonna give birth! It’s so painful!” She exclaimed, burying her face in the maid’s chest. “I don’t want to watch anymore.”
“You look absolutely stunning, my love,” Marco began, pouring Mirabella a drink.
To her surprise, Marco had arranged a romantic date for them. They were the only customers in the exclusive hotel, aside from the staff.
“How long has it been? Five years, huh?” He sighed and shook his head. “Five years, and I’m still deeply in love with you! What do you call this kind of thing? Witchcraft?” He raised an eyebrow.
“Humans simply call it ‘Lust,'” Mirabella replied, sipping her wine slowly, her gaze locked onto his.
“Nice wine,” she commented, eyeing her glass.
“I’m glad you like it. I heard you have a child with Vincenzo!? Interesting,” he remarked, and she smiled.
She raised her hand, displaying her ring to him.
“I’m not happy. Don’t show me,” he muttered, and Mirabella lowered her hand.
“Even if he marries you, Bella, I would trade my life just to make you mine,” he said coolly.
“That will never happen! Never!” she half-yelled, and he chuckled softly.
“Don’t worry, Hailey will come to love me as her father, won’t she?” he asked, and Mirabella chuckled wickedly.
“You’re now the president of D’Angelo Properties. Matrix Company is under your care, huh? Impressive!” She spoke angrily.
“I’ll give you full access to your company if you agree to marry me. Be mine, bunny.”
“Are you out of your mind!? I don’t even know why I accepted this invitation at first. Marco, please stay away from me and my child!”
“Be mine, bunny. I won’t ask you twice!”
“Are you threatening me!? Seriously!?”
“Do you know that Isabella is out of the psychiatric hospital? Do you have any idea how much danger you’re in?” He asked, and Mirabella swallowed, realizing that Hailey was also at risk.
“She’s alive!? I actually didn’t know what happened… How…?”
“Surprised?” He raised his eyebrows and smiled.
“Your soon-to-be husband is very, very persistent. Stalking you just because you met up with an old friend is very, very bad,” Marco said, and Mirabella turned around.
“Vee is here!? How did he find out?” She swallowed, trying to locate him.
“Are you scared of him? See how uneasy you are, Mirabella!” He smirked.
“Where is he!? Where’s he!!?” She demanded and he smiled.
“It was all a prank,” he continued, teasing her. “Look how uneasy you are, the fact that a man makes you scared and so committed. I like it.”
After an extensive conversation, Mirabella obtained the necessary information she needed. Among all, her main concern was Isabella being out of the psychiatric hospital. What if Hailey gets hurt? Would she be able to forgive herself, or anyone in the Salvatore house?
“Sh|t!” she cursed, lost in her thoughts.

Lorenzo greeted the newly born baby boy with a warm smile, expressing his joy. The child was a spitting image of Adriana.
“He’s absolutely adorable,” Vincenzo exclaimed, gently reaching out to touch the baby.
Bruno entered the room and jovially remarked, “Heyyy, congratulations, bro. You’ve truly become a man,” playfully patting Lorenzo’s back.
Lorenzo playfully rolled his eyes at Bruno’s comment. Bruno cradled the baby for a while before returning him to Lorenzo.
“How’s your woman doing?” he inquired.
“She’s doing well. I’m relieved that everything went smoothly,” Lorenzo replied.
Vincenzo added, “When is pa coming over? He needs to meet all his grandsons and his daughter.”
Bruno quickly grabbed his phone, saying, “Let me message him right now.”
Lorenzo and his brothers cherished their time with the newborn baby and the child’s mother. Shortly afterward, Grace entered with food and clothes.
Lorenzo pulled her into a warm embrace, expressing his gratitude for her unwavering support.
“Thank you, Grace. You’re like the mother we never had,” Lorenzo said as he hugged her once more.
Vincenzo chimed in, “Aww… Yeah, she truly deserves it,” embracing Grace tightly.
Bruno playfully interjected, “Hey! Don’t hug my wife like that, okay! I don’t share my stuff.”
The laughter and camaraderie continued as they enjoyed their time together.

It was midnight, and Mirabella was still awake. She bit her lip, trying to withhold the pressure building in her body. She attempted to reach Vincenzo, but his phone was switched off.
She looked at the innocent Hailey, who slept on her lap. If anything happened to her, how could she stand it?
Her phone buzzed, and she picked it up. It was an unknown number.
“Hello, sis!”
“Isabella?” Mirabella muttered before shaking her head.
“Babe!… Isabella? Is she there? What’s happening!? Are you at home with Hailey?” Vincenzo, the actual speaker, asked.
“Yeah. Where are you?” she asked, hugging herself.
“I’m on my way back home,” he explained, and she exhaled softly.
“I’m scared, Isabella!… that witch is still alive!” She spoke, her worry evident.
“It doesn’t matter. I don’t care if a thousand Isabellas are alive. We’ve got this. I’m here, and nothing will happen to our Hailey, okay!” he assured her, and she nodded.
“Okay… I miss you so badly,” she pouted.
“Open the door,” he said, and she went to open the door, only to find him with a bunch of flowers in his hands.
“I’m sorry for keeping you waiting, angel,” he murmured and kissed her gently.
“Please be quiet; Hailey is asleep,” she whispered, and he nodded, stepping inside.
“So, what happened!?”
“I met with Marco this morning. Before you start, I’m sorry for not telling you,” she said, avoiding his gaze.
“Don’t do that again. What about Isabella?” he asked.
“I don’t know much, but I’m scared, you know… Not because I can’t face it, but because of Hailey.”
“I’m sending my men into the city; we are stronger than Isabella and her stupid games,” he muttered, holding her cheek.
“Daddy!?” Hailey called, rubbing her eyes and climbing down from the bed.
Vincenzo picked her up and kissed her forehead twice.
“I missed you!” she murmured and hugged him tight.
“I’m sorry for keeping you waiting. Daddy decided to have a great time with mommy. Don’t you want a baby brother?” he asked, and she shook her head.
“No, I want to be the only baby,” she answered innocently, and Mirabella chuckled.
She sat beside Vincenzo, who held Hailey in his arms.
“You don’t want another sibling?” Mirabella asked, and Hailey nodded.
“I don’t want mommy passing… passing through those pains,” she muttered and coughed.
“You have a cold?” Vincenzo asked, checking her temperature.
“Mummy!!… Daddy… but, how are babies made? Where do you get babies from?” Hailey asked, and Vincenzo and Mirabella exchanged worried glances.
“Sh|t!” They both cursed.
