{The Archery god}
♣STILL IN UMA♣
Shady was walking down the hallway, reading
her horror novel and listening to her favorite
heavy metal music from her earphones.
She was so focused in what she was doing as
her face was down the whole time, her eyes
buried in it, reading each line from the book so
attentively.
She suddenly bumped into someone, and the
book flew out of her hand as she fell down
together with the person.
It was Flash that she bumped into.
” Ahh…” She groaned, holding her arm. She
bruised it from the fall she had.
However, Flash stood up and dusted his body,
ignoring her like she wasn’t even there.
She became so angry that she left her bruised
arm and glared at him. He eyed her angrily in
return and tried to leave, but she stood up
hurriedly and held him back.
She grabbed his collar and held it tightly,
locking eyes with him firmly. She looked so
intimidating and furious, her eyes burning with
fire at him.
” Were you so blind not to see that I was coming
this way? Yet you had the guts to hit me, injure
me and just try to leave?” She sneered angrily.
The bruise started to produce blood, and the
blood ran down her arm, dropping to the
ground.
” I would’ve locked my arms around your collar
too, it’s just that I’m in a good mood today and I
won’t stoop so low to your level.” Flash replied
non-chalantly.
” I don’t care if you’re a member of Platinum
Boys or not. Say that you’re sorry for falling me
down, right now.” She growled.
” Why should I say sorry when you’re the one at
fault here? You clearly bumped into me while
reading your novel.” He accused her.
She glanced back at the novel on the ground,
still holding his collar. The music from her
headphones was still on though.
She turned to him and gave him a deadly glare,
bringing her face closer to his. Flash could feel
her hot breath on his face.
” You’ll pay for this later.” She swore and left
him roughly, then she went to pick up her novel
and walked past him, knowingly bumping her
shoulder into his own on her way off.
” Such a Bîtch.” Flash said to himself with a cold
expression, then he noticed the blood on the
ground.
His brows raised in anxiousness, then he turned
back to Shady’s retreating back.
” She bleeded?” He asked himself.
Shady exited the school and entered her car,
driving out of the premises.
She drove on the road for about 30 minutes
before arriving at the popular marketplace and
parked at the side of the road, then she came
out of the car and rested her back on it, only to
start staring at an old woman across the street.
The woman sat on the ground, crying and
begging for alms. She looked so dirty and
wretched with torn and worn out clothes which
were probably outdated.
As she kept on begging from passersby, they all
ignored her. She spoke a different language that
they couldn’t understand, which made her
begging even harder.
When she couldn’t make any money for about
an hour more, she gave up and stood shakily,
walking into an alley.
That was when Shady left her car and crossed
the street, following the woman into the alley
too.
The woman stopped walking when she felt a
presence behind her. She turned back
immediately, and she wasn’t wrong. Her eyes
widened on sighting Shady.
Shady also stopped walking a distance from the
woman, eyeing her h@tëfully like the woman
was Sh|t.
The woman trembled in fear and astonishment
for more than 5 minutes. The woman was her
mother, and this was the first time she was
seeing Shady again after 2 good years.
” O… O… Oko mi ( M…M… My dear.)” She spoke
in Yoruba dialect. Shady understood Yoruba
perfectly and smirked. The only problem was
that she couldn’t speak Yoruba.
” Good day, mother.” Shady told the woman.
The woman began to shed tears, crying bitterly
and palmed her mouth. Shady cared less and
rolled eyes ignorantly.
She brought her palms together and went on her
knees, still crying pitifully.
” Shade, ma binu si mi. Emi ko ni mo pa baba e.
Ye se bayi fun mi mo. Forijimi. (Shady, don’t be
angry at me. I’m not the one who killed your
father. Stop doing this to me. Forgive me.)” The
woman begged on her knees.
” Forgive you? Why should I forgive you? You
took away the only joy in my life, the only real
parent that I had. You’re a monster, one that
shouldn’t be spared.” Shady said.
” Shade.” She spoke. Shade was Shady’s Yoruba
native name. ” Jo. Mo fi Eledumare ti mo n sin fi
bura. Emi ko ni mo pa Baba e.( Please. I swear
by the God that I worship. I’m not the one who
killed your father.”) She said in tears again.
” You want me to remind you? You keep making
stupid swears that you aren’t the one who killed
my father, but I know you’re just lying so that I
take you back and give you Dad’s wealth.”
Shady spoke emotionlessly.
” Shade, Ma binu. (Shady, I’m sorry.)” She cried.
” 2 years ago… You killed my father on this very
day. I was going to visit his grave first, but then I
decided to visit you. I know how you’ve been
living in abject poverty ever since his death. You
killed him just to have all his riches because
you’re so greedy. Thankfully, he willed all his
property to me, his only child. You have been
living in this alley, suffering even more than the
dead. I won’t spare you, and I won’t ever forgive
you. I’ll make sure you keep on living and
suffering here, and no one will come help you.”
Shady sneered.
” Oluwashade!” The woman exclaimed out her
native name.
” My name isn’t Oluwashade. My name is
Shady, and you aren’t my mother anymore.
You’re just a complete, dirty old stranger in my
face.” She spoke disgustedly and left her, going
back to her car.
” Shade! Shade!! Oluwashade!!! Ma fi mi le
bayii!!!! Shade!!!!! ( Shady! Shady!! Shady!!! Don’t
leave me like this!!!! Shady!!!!!)” The woman
cried at the top of her voice, but Shady never
came back. She entered the car and drive off
already.
The woman bursted into tears and collapsed
flatly, crying bitterly on the ground.
♣PLATINUM ESTATE♣
The estate was right beside the school, but it
was more smaller in size. It belonged only to
The Platinum Boys.
The inside was looking really rich and fabulous
than the outside, sparkling and smelling with
wealth.
Flash and Mario were in the premium Platinum
room, a room meant for only special meetings
between them. Mario sat on a chair and chatted
with a girl, smiling constantly while Flash sat on
another chair and stared into space.
Rocky walked into the room, and their attention
turned to him.
” Hey guys.” He greeted casually, sitting on a
nearby chair close to them.
” Rocky! I have the greatest news!” Mario
gushed excitedly.
” News about what? ” Rocky asked.
” News about the new student in school. I learnt
his name is Brayden. He’s really cool and super
handsome. If I were a girl, I’d totally date him.
He’s totally 200% Platinum Boys material, I
think we should recruit him.” Mario poured out
all at once.
” What?” Rocky said absent-mindedly. He
seemed not to get what Mario said.
” The dude’s all hyped up because of a new guy
that just showed up today. He wants him to be
a part of the club.” Flash pointed out more
clearly.
” No way. I am not letting some random dude
into this club because you want him in.” Rocky
stated.
” But Rocky, he’s the real deal. Brayden is super.
..” Mario tried talking, but Rocky cut him off.
” I don’t care who he is. He could be handsome,
rich or super, but I don’t care. He’s not getting
into this club.” Rocky spoke adamantly.
” Because you’re afraid he’s better than you?”
Flash said, and an awkward silence ensued in
the room.
Mario stood and left them staring at themselves
without words.
Rocky furrowed his eyebrows and opened his
mouth like he was about to say something bad,
but then he stopped and smirked.
” Why would he be better than me at anything?”
He asked instead.
” Because… being talented at everything doesn’t
mean you should be so proud of it. I mean, try
to think for once. Just yesterday you were
beaten in a quiz competition by a girl. Now
you’re here acting like the leader of the group as
if you are. That girl will make a better leader
than you.” Flash spat coldly.
Rocky lost it immediately. He sprang up from
his seat, and Flash sprang up too. They came
closer to each other and glared so hard.
” Don’t you ever compare me to that girl if you
want your head off your body right now.” Rocky
threatened.
” I want to see you try. You couldn’t even defeat
an ordinary girl, so why would you have the guts
to even touch me?” Flash growled back.
Rocky instantly punched Flash without thinking,
losing his cool instantly. Mario who had never
left the room gasped, dropping his phone from
shock.
Flash kept on facing the ground. He slowly
lifted his head and touched his punched face,
then he looked at Rocky.
” You’re so dead for this.” He whispered, then he
returned the punch to Rocky’s face too, twice
harder than the one he gave him.
Rocky fell down heavily, and Mario gasped even
louder.
Flash started walking away. He had only taken
a few steps when Rocky stood and jumped on
his back, making the two of them fall to the
ground.
They began to wrestle hotly on the ground,
taking turns to punch each other. It was an
insanely hot fight.
” Guys, stop fighting! Stop fighting right now!”
Mario shouted and went to separate them, but a
stray punch form one of them hit him in the
face immediately, and his eyes rolled funnily in
their sockets before passing out on the ground.
Flash finally got the upper hand, coming on top
of Rocky. He pinned Rocky’s arms to the ground
while he kept on struggling to break free.
Rocky finally gave up, unable to free himself. He
looked at Flash angrily as their faces were
bruised from the punches.
” If you think you’re so great and godly, why
don’t you prove it? Allow Brayden into the club if
he wins in a competition against you, and I’ll
keep repeating your failure against that girl
everyday. If Brayden loses… Then I’ll shut up
forever and do your laundry for a month.” Flash
spoke, panting heavily.
” Deal.” Rocky panted too while glaring at him,
then they seprated from each other and walked
out of the room.
” Don’t stop kissing.” Mario muttered from his
state of unconsciousness, then he turned to
another side on the ground and hugged the air,
kissing it like it was actually a real person.
♣NEXT DAY♣
It was the day of yet, another competition
between Rocky and Brayden. Flash actually
informed him about it, and Brayden agreed to
the challenge.
The field was filled with students who were
waiting for the opponents to arrive. They were
all so excited and hyped up for the event.
The two boys arrived at the Field on the same.
The students went wild with screams
immediately, especially with the girls as they
jumped and squealed.
” I love you Rocky! You’re my babe forever!”
” I’m marrying you today Brayden!”
” Rocky you look amazing!”
” I can’t stop drooling over you Brayden!”
” Notice me!”
Brayden and Rocky stood beside each itehr, but
not so close. There was a wide space between
them.
Rocky was glaring coldly at nothing. His face
was still designed with flash’s punches, and
they hurted. It was making him even more
angrier on the spot.
Brayden just stood and did nothing, looking so
expressionless.
” Alright boys.” The sports coach said, arriving
at the field with a bunch of bows and arrows.
The competition was based on archery.
” You are to take these things from me and
shoot the arrows at the targets far in front of
you. Anyone who gets closest to the red dot in
the middle wins, got it?” He spoke.
They both didn’t answer him. They just took the
bow and arrow from him and he stood aside.
” Rocky, go ahead first.” The coach said, and
everywhere went silent.
Rocky instantly placed the arrow in the bow,
aiming it for the target that was so far from
him. He closed one eye and put all his focus on
hitting the target.
The wind blew and swept his hair up, making
him look even hotter. The scene was so tense
that many were already starting to bite lips.
Without wasting more time, Rocky let the arrow
fly. It shot through the air and hit the target
board, right on the red dot.
He smiled proudly, and his fans went crazy with
loud screams. The Sh|t was impressive, and it
didn’t look like Brayden could ever top that shot.
” Top that shot, Stone face.” Rocky told Brayden,
but Brayden didn’t even spare him a glance. His
eyes were on Rocky’s arrow on the target this
whole time.
Brayden also grabbed an arrow, and he set it
properly on the bow, pulling it back forcefully
with the string as it made intense stretching
sounds.
The students went quiet after that, and another
moment of suspense ensued in their midst.
Brayden didn’t even close any eye unlike Rocky.
He was focusing on the target with both eyes
open, which Rocky found suspicious.
He finally let the arrow fly into the air, and all
eyes followed it immediately. The arrow tore
through Rocky’s own, splitting it in half and it
pierced into the red dot as Rocky’s split arrow
fell.
All eyes widened, and all hearts stopped beating
momentarily. Everywhere was eeriely quiet.
” If there’s something you don’t know about me,
I’ll tell you now. I’m a master god of archery.”
Brayden whispered to Rocky as his eyes were
also wide.
