They are studying different courses but are living in the same room as room mates.
Rose is studying medicine while Gift is studying mass communication.
They met new and different people in school, old and new, poor and rich, weak and strong, healthy and unhealthy, bold and timid, proud and humble, rude, arrogant and the respectful and prudence
Rose choose her friends while Gift also choose her own friends too.
The first year of their school was very hectic for them as they tried so hard to cope with school stress, registrations, assignments, practicals, quiz and exams
Coupled with the expenses, text books, pamphlets, handout, practical money’s, school fees, feeding and other petty payments, It was really tough on them.
They both managed to scale through the first year of the school… Their results were good and their GPS were very good too unlike some who had carryover and some who had very low GPS and some whose repeat is certain for them, and some who are going on waka(leaving the school).
They were both thankful to God for seeing them through their first year in higher institution.
During their second year, Rose met a guy, he is an Engineering student by name Richard he is a final year student and also works at federal ministry of works in the engineering department. He schools and works at the same time.
This was the first time Rose has felt deep something for a guy in her life. They both loved each other although Rose sometimes think of Francis and tried to contact her but all to no avail.
Gift also fell in love with a student in their department, but their relationship is not working just like that of Rose, so she was envious of Rose and plot to destroy her friendship with Richard
The semester progresses and the love of Richard and Rose grows stronger, Rose never hides anything from Gift in her relationship with Richard, she made sure to share everything that Richard gave to her with Rose sometimes she even gives her more and takes little.
One day Gift told Rose that she is going to break up with her boyfriend
I am tired of chuks oo that guy is giving me headache, he is just a pain in the ãss (soliloquizing)
What did he do again, he gave you every thing you wants and all the attention you needs, how has he wronged you again?
You won’t understand ooo, giving me every thing is not the issue… He fakes his attentions, when I want to see him or to be with him, he always makes himself unavailable and gives me flimsy excuses but when ever he wants to be with me, he so demands for it like he owns me or like he has married me.
Just like the other day, I was not in the mood to do anything with him, he forced me an threatens to beat me if I didn’t comply.

Gift but I told you initially that I don’t like that guy, he looks like a play boy but you said you love him, you even wants to quarrel me because of him, that was why I gave way. Now he is threatening you because of irrelevant things
Just imagine, the other day he tried to R@PE me, I was too tired and I told him to give me time but he forcefully mount on me and almost tore me apart that day, Rose infact this is ending tomorrow… I don’t want to dié yet She signs heavily leaning her head back wards
(shocked and surprised) You mean you have been going through this all the while and kept it all to yourself, hmm I fear you ooo! what if something happened to you, don’t you know people will hold me responsible as your close friend?
Gift is not fair ooo you are just been unnecessarily secretive, so you think that I am a fool or what. I told you everything about I and Richard so that you will always be aware incase something happens to me tomorrow then you will know how to handle the situation that will follow and also be a witness too
But you, you kept things to yourself and yet calls me your best friend…. Hmmm nawa to you ooo! that son of a bastãrd tries to rãpe you! In fact…..
Gift cuts in now very paranoid *… Wait oo! Rose, you said you use to tell me everything but that’s a big fat lies… You only tells me lies and nothing you have ever told me about your so called relationships are ever true… Oh you think I am a kid abi, I nobi pikin ooo I hv been in this game before you

Gift laughed, stood up from the bed and started clapping for Rose) see you.
You think I don’t know, you told me that you was not dating Francis until I saw you both kissing each other, and you have always been telling me that you have never heard se* with Richard only romance, but sometimes you used to sleep over in his house for two days

(speechless) Well my friend I have not told you lies before, As for me and Francis, the kiss was a mistake and never lasted for five seconds, and I never dated Francis, I only kept him company and likes him because he was a good person.
We enjoyed each other’s company and I did it out of pity for him.I don’t want him to be frustrated or depressed that’s all. So the kiss was a mistake although he asked for my friendship but I refused him.
We use to communicate on phone as just friends and for two years and some months now we have not communicated.
And as for I and Richard, I sleeps over in his house does not mean that we use to have se* Is true we do other things, like romance maka na mmadu awugi osisi (because person nobi rod) but we don’t have se*, I told Richard that I won’t until we married

Gift said OK and smiled at Rose but that Smile was a cunning one because when she heard that Richard is planning to marry Rose, her heart was bitter and she started scheming her wickêd plans
Rose who doesn’t know the evīl in her friends heart just hugged her laughing
