(HIT AND RUN)
“The thing is that, I….” Jewel paused trying to read Dina’s expression as silence reigned.
Then Jewel dropped the bombshell….
“I think I have a crush on Luke”
“You what???????” Dina half yelled as Jewel quickly covered her mouth.
“shhhhhhhhh, someone might hear you” Jewel said gulping down her spit in the process.
“Today is April Fools Day so I won’t believe what you just said” Dina said taking a step back as she shook her head.
“I know it’s weird but….” Jewel paused as she looked Dina straight in the eyes
“My heart beats faster when he is around, my breathing becomes incoherent, I bite my lower lips too much when I look at his lips and I get lost in his gaze”
“Isn’t that enough proof that I have a crush on him????” Jewel asked in a low voice.
“But…but…he’s…I…I…mean….he’s just air” Dina stammered as she moved closer to her.
“I know, and I sad that I had to develop such unrequited feelings” Jewel said as she hugged Dina.
“I’ll try get rid of the feelings” Jewel said as she tightened the hug.
Just then Luke appeared and met the duo hugging.
“Do you know how long I have been searching for you both in this entire college???” Luke asked making Jewel break the hug.
The glasses were still with Alex so presently it was just Jewel who was seeing him.
“And what’s with the family hug?” He asked and Jewel faced him. She soon started staring again and Dina noticed.
“Doughnut head” She called lowly and Jewel turned to hug her, breaking the stare.
“Is she sick?” Luke asked no one in particular
“Why are you here?” Jewel asked with her faced buried in Dina’s shoulder.
‘That’s weird’ Luke thought to himself.
“Alex wants to help. I think he could help us get into the euphorium and know what Zach is up to” He said still staring confusedly at the duo who were still hugging.
“Where you bullied??” He asked Jewel
“Nope”
“So what’s up with the hug”
“It’s a woman’s thing” Jewel said hoping Luke wouldn’t ask anymore questions and it worked.
“Okay, see you at Alex’s” He said before disappearing
Immediately he left, Jewel broke the Hug.
“What did Luke talk about?” She asked curiously
“Alex wants to help us get into the euphorium”
The moment Jewel mentioned Alex Dina’s breath hitched.
“Are you alright???”
“I’m perfectly fine, I need to use the restroom” Dina said as she left Jewel hurriedly.
“What’s up with her???” Jewel asked no one in particular.
******BROOKE’S HOSPITAL*********
“The patient is stable” The nurse said to Elena.
“Okay, thanks” Elena said picking up her coat.
“Abort the mission for now. We can’t shock wake the patient yet” She said finally leaving the office.
“Where are you headed ma” The nurse asked after her with a tray of meds.
“I’m heading home to take a break”
“You have a surgery scheduled at 5pm” The nurse quickly said before Elena was out of ear shot.
“I’ll be back soon” She said as she left the hospital to the parking lot.
As she moved, she felt as though she was been followed.
She turned but found no one.
She hastened her steps as she quickly rushed to the car.
She carefully watched her surrounding but found nothing suspicious and she breath in relief as she starts the engine of the car.
*******BROOKE’S MANSION (DINA’S HOME)*******
“Are you still going to tell me to believe that everything going on in this mansion is fine” Dina half yelled as she paced around the living room.
“I’m not in for your drama, Dina” Mr. Brooke, her dad said as he turned on his laptop.
“Your wife who is my mom hasn’t been home for a four days now and all you could say is ‘I’M NOT IN FOR YOUR DRAMA, DINA'” Dina said mimicking her dad.
“You’re mom is a doctor. Saving life is the first on her list”
“And we are last” Dina said in a mocking tone
“Can we not talk about it?” Mr Brooke said already tired of the topic
“At least, your mom and I video call twice a day”
“Says the man who’s wife is not at home” Dina said. Just then, the door opened and Elena walked in.
“We were just talking about you” Dina said and Elena faced her.
“Honey, welcome” Mr. Brooke said as he walked towards her
“Aren’t you going to ask her where she was???” Dina asked angrily
“You need to let your mom settle first” Her dad said as he made Elena sit while he went to fetch her water.
“Dina…”
“What are you gonna say?? I was in the hospital treating a special patient, or I had a scheduled surgery” Dina said interrupting her mom.
Elena looked at Dina with a sad smile. Her husband came in and handed her a cup of water.
“Thanks honey” Elena said as she took the water making Dina scoff.
“I’m not coming home tonight” Dina said as she took her coat leaving the house.
Elena watched her leave in sad eyes.
“I know been a doctor takes a lot. Just save lives okay and we will go on a vacation next month to cover up the time you spent in the hospital” He said as he patted her hair gently from behind.
A small tear escaped her eyes. What had she done? She had lied to her husband that it was all work that was taking her time. She didn’t tell anyone the reason she hadn’t been home was her kidnap. Had Dina lost all trust in her???
Many thoughts clouded her mind while tears blurred her view.

“Wanna talk about it??” Jewel asked
They (Jewel and Dina) where headed over to Alex’s place. Luke had been having a friendships rebound with Alex, so he wasn’t with them.
The stroll was an unusual one as Dina was out of the mood.
“It’s my mom” Dina said with a sad sigh. “She’s been behaving weird these days”
“I’m lost” Jewel said turning to face Dina
“She’s doesn’t come home for days, and when she comes she either comes late or stay only for a few hours”
“And?????”
“I feel like she’s cheating on my dad and maybe, just maybe….” Dina paused looking for the right words to use
“Maybe what????” Jewel asked impatiently
“Maybe they are planning a divorce behind my back” Dina completed the statement that was followed by a round of laughter from Jewel.
“What’s funny?” Dina asked pouting her lips making her look cute.
“It’s nothing, it’s just…..hahahahahahahaha” Jewel laugh out not able to complete her statement.
“I knew telling you is a bad idea. All you are going to say is that it’s a stage and my family would come back to the perfect family I once knew” Dina said frowning her face.
“You know that frown doesn’t suit you” Jewel said and Dina frowned harder making Jewel burst into another fit of laughter.
“You look like an overly dehydrated marshmallow” Jewel said loudly making few passerbys to look her direction.
“Don’t talk to me” Dina said walking away from Jewel
“Overly dehydrated marshmallow” Jewel yelled loudly after her laughing loudly.
“I said don’t talk to me” Dina said increasing her pace.
“Alright fine. Let’s first complete our mission with Luke then we can check on your mom if she is really cheating, okay???” Jewel said when she finally caught up with her.
“Fine, but first get me that ice cream over there” Dina said pointing to an ice cream stand
“Sure” Jewel said as she crossed the road.
“Overly dehydrated marshmallow” Jewel yelled loudly from the other side of the road, laughing.
“I h@të you” Dina said sitting down by a bench while waiting for Jewel.
“It’s been years since Jewel laughed this much” Dina said slowly with a small smile.
“I hope this smile last forever.” She muttered as she lifted her head to see Jewel coming.
She smiled but frowned when she saw a car speeding towards Jewel.
“JEWELLLLL” She shouted but it was too late as the car had hit Jewel.
Jewel had bounced on the car’s screen, falling down, hitting her head hard on the ground.

It was a hit and run accident.
Dina couldn’t move as she felt her blood dry up
There was Jewel in a pool of blood, not moving……
