Amelia’s eyes widened in surprise, a billion dollars,,,, she turned to face Jewel who looked equally surprised
“A billion dollars?” Amelia repeated
“Are you hesitating? How about a hundred billion dollars?” Hazel proposed
“I will sell it” Amelia said loudly for all to hear
A guard moved to where Amelia was
“Account details?” he asked and Amelia told him
“Your account has been credited, you can confirm it” he said after a little while
She quickly brought her phone to check
“It’s true, I’m a billionaire” she said, turning to face Jewel. Her eyes was clouded with tears which are threatening to fall anytime soon

“I’m so lucky” Amelia said face palming herself

“How will I explain this to my mom? I sold a jacket for a hundred billion dollars? she might not believe me”
“That’s true, your mom is really scary and strict, she’s the reason why I don’t use to visit you. Thank goodness she isn’t my Mom, I would have ran away… You are really trying”
“You just have to understand her,,, she’s just being protective of us, Ciara even got grounded” Amelia shrugged

“Are you high? what do you mean by there is no money in this house?” They heard Jewel’s father’s voice
“What do you want Fred? where do you expect me to get money from? did you drop anything before leaving today?” Jewel’s Mom, Helen, replied
“I can see you’ve grown wings, you seems to have forgotten I brought you to this place, I f***ing paid your dowry with my hard earned money as demanded by your greedy parents… and now, what are you trying to say? you can’t give me any money” Fred howled
“I’ve been trying and you know that”
“I don’t have anything to do with you, where is that daughter of yours? She’s suppose to have collected her salary today” He demanded
“Don’t bring Jewel into this…”
Then they heard a sound, Jewel’s father is actually a drunkard and he’s very irresponsible
Jewel pushed the door open and rushed in, Amelia followed suite. They both rushed to Helen’s side, she was already on the floor
“Mom, are you okay?” Jewel asked worriedly
“I’m fine…. you should have stayed outside till he’s done, you are gonna get hit too”
“We are in this together, Mom…. Here, that’s my salary for this month” Jewel said, bring out wads of note from her pocket
“This is my daughter” Fred said with a huge smile on his face, he collected the money shamelessly
“I won’t be coming back tonight” he added, staggering out of the house
“It’s better you don’t return, don’t come back!!” Helen shouted
“That’s my house, you should be the one to leave not me” he retorted
“I’m fed up”She said bursting into tears

are you just coming back? you promised to be back before 10pm… and the time is now,,, 12. Where the hell did you go to?” Beatrice demanded as soon as Amelia entered
“Jewel had issues with her Dad again, he even hit her Mom this time around,, I had to wait for a while” She answered biting her bottom lips
“How will I tell her about the money?” she thought
“What are you waiting for? go to your room, it’s past midnight… you have to go to Blitz tomorrow, remember”
“Mom, how will you feel if we are a billionaire? something like an overnight wealth” She said
“There’s nothing like overnight wealth, you have to work hard” Her mom replied
“Mom, we are a billionaire” she paused her lip
Beatrice raised her head to look at her then chuckled
“Quit jokes, Amy… I’m not in the mood. I suppose to be sleeping by now but I had to wait for you”
“I’m not joking, I got the money someone” Amelia said bringing out her phone. She showed her Mom the alert making her gasp in surprise
“Where did you get this from?”
“I don’t know how I’ll explain it, I got the money somehow”
“Have you been sleeping with men? or are you on drugs?” Beatrice asked immediately
“What!!? why will you think such?” Amelia stated, tears were streaming down her cheeks already
“The money is huge, it surely comes from an illegal means. Ensure you return it tomorrow, I won’t take it lightly if that money is still in your possession by then and I’ll forgive you for what you’ve done, go to bed now,,,, I’ll tell you your punishment tomorrow” Beatrice said standing up
“Will you even let me explain before jumping into conclusion?” Amelia shouted
Beatrice looked at her with a raised eyebrow
“Did you just raise your voice at me? I’m still your mother and you are staying under my roof”
“Why are you being like this? don’t you think you are being extra? I’m fed up Mom!!!” Amelia said
“If you are fed up, I can’t take you back to your father’s place at least there you won’t have to see me” Beatrice said before going in
Amelia slumped on the couch, letting the tears to food freely. She knows her mom means business and wh@tëver she says is final
She dialed Jewel’s line and she picked up on the last ring
“Mom doesn’t believes me, it hurts so much” she cried
“Just calm down okay, what happened?”
“The money I got from selling that jacket, she wants me to return it. She didn’t even let me explain, she just concluded that I’m a whore… that hurts a lot, why will she think so? She doesn’t even trust me”She cried
“What are you doing to do now? you know your mom means business,,, what will you do with the money?”
“I’m really confused right now, I’m finding it hard to think” She said ruffling her hair
“Do you want the money? I can give it to you,,,, with that your Mom can establish something” she added
Jewel inhaled hard from the other side
“That will be selfish of us, I can’t accept it… we can give it to the orphanage home or what do you think?”
“That’s also great”
“We’ll do that tomorrow, I’ll come over very early….. I’ll leave the house before Dad comes back”
