CHAPTER THIRTY FIVE: KISS OF BETRAYAL 2
Arthur watch as lacey
walk indoors, his gaze lower down to meet that
of Christine, her smile wide as a witch ” what are
you going to do? Beg her?” Christine words fill
my head but I shouldn’t think of something like
that, ignoring her completely, I run indoors,
shutting the door and trying my best to catch up
with her.
Before lacey could shut her room door, I quickly
place my leg between the door and the wall ”
wait “I mumble, opening the door wide and
staring at her, tears already visible on her cheek
” let me explain ”
She clean her tears and then sniff ” they is
nothing to talk about ”
” I didn’t kiss her, I swear it ”
” Arthur ”
” You have to believe me ” walking close, I hold
her hand, my eyes pleading ” I didn’t kiss her
back, I just….”
She cut me off ” you just what? It’s obvious, you
definitely wanted more” lacey pull her hands
from mine ” I saw you place your hands on her
hair, you didn’t push her back ”
” I already told you” running my hands through
my hair, I look at her, her eyes already red from
all the crying, she step back and I clench my
hands, why do she always imagine the worst
why won’t she trust me ” you remember our
promise lacey ” I plead ” we promise to always
trust each other ”
She laughs ” trust?” Lacey fold her hands and
look at me ” I saw the way you look at her in
that coffee shop, you were obviously happy she
is back in your life, if I didn’t arrive that moment,
am sure you two will be on this bed, making out
!!!” She growls and I remain quiet, I have never
seen this side of her before ” what do you
expect me to believe, I saw you with my eyes”
” I forgave you ” this time I growl ” you kissed
Edwin and I forgive you, didn’t I? Why won’t you
let go of what I did?”
” Wow ” she smile ” because of what happened
to me, you had to pay back? You had to use
Christine to pay back for what I did?”
” I told you, I didn’t kiss her!!!”
” Is that any reasons for you to bring my short
coming? Is this how relationships work for
you?” Tears drop from her eyes ” do you think
this is right? Paying me back by kissing
someone else? While you said you’ve forgiven
me?”
” Who said anything about paying you back? ” I
growl, she keeps on misunderstanding me, that
is not what I meant ” I just need you to
understand and trust me, I didn’t kiss her ”
” So what was that?” She clean her tears and
exhale ” a welcome back hug?”
” Lacey!!!”
” Don’t yell at me!!!” She frown ” you are making
me feel this way, you keep talking of not being
able to love someone, asking me to love you but
still yet, your past obsession comes and you
cave into her?”
Having nothing else to say, I remain standing
and watch her, how she tries to catch her breath
” you have nothing to say?” I watch her, what do
she expects me to say to her right now? She will
just keep misunderstanding me, keep twisting
my words to things I don’t mean.
” Arthur?”
” Am sorry ” I mumble and she smile, not a
pleasant one, she look so angry and
disappointed at same time ” lacey I…”
” Enough ” lacey walk pass me and out of the
house, sitting down on the bed, I run my hands
through my hair, things were going perfect, I
knew something will happen, I just can’t be that
happy but still yet, it’s my fault.
I allowed her to kiss me in such manners, even
if I didn’t plan to kiss her back, I did look at her
body lustfully, I lick my lips at the thought of
embracing her once more, even if I knew I will
not take actions on that thought, I should be
punished anyway.
I don’t deserve her forgiveness ” what’s wrong
with me?” I growled, getting tired of my actions,
and now that Linda has all that evidence, if she
is to go to police station, am sure they will be
here in no time to arrest me.
My phone ring, I lool down and stare at the
caller ” George?” Mumble after picking the call
” Linda ” he mumble ” I got her, she is captured”
” You what?”
” I have no idea why she was walking towards
the police station but I knew it’s for nothing
good, so I got her….she is in the warehouse ”
Sometimes, I think God is on my side.
” Good ” I stand up and look outside the window,
the moon already shining bright ” do you have
any idea about Christine being alive?” I asked
and received no response, just like I thought, it
took minutes before he clear his throat, only
that makes me know that he is hiding
something.
” Thank you for killing her, Alexandria and her
child ” he change the topic and I frown
” George!”
” It was me ” his voice got calm ” I am the one
who saved her ”
” Why did you hide it from me?”
” Because you might want her back, Christine
wasn’t good for you but same time she was my
friend, I can’t watch her die ” he replied and I
look at lacey who is standing next to the
flowers, she fold her hands, tears still dropping
from her eyes, as she cleans them occasionally.
” I want you to get Christine ” I mumble ” I want
her out of my life and dead ”
“Are you sure about this ” George concern voice
didn’t do much to me, because of Christine,
lacey look like that, she seem so sad,
heartbroken, if Christine is out of the picture, am
sure it will just be me and lacey, no more
obstacle in our lives. ” It is Christine we are
talking about, your first love ”
It is true, by the time I push her off that cliff, it
was then I realized how much I love her,
obsession has nothing to do with how I tried to
kill myself, hating the thought of living without
her. But I did, I live without her and lacey came
along.
I might not be sure about what I feel for lacey
but letting her go is not something I wish for ” I
need Linda and Christine dead, I don’t even wish
to see her ever again ”
” Alright, I will have both of them in same
warehouse and burn them together”
” Good ”
” Arthur ” he rush his words before I could hung
up ” I want you to think about this, tonight. think
about losing Christine, killing her now will mean,
all what she plans to use against, you won’t get
to see them, you won’t get to see how perfect
her plans are ” he clear his throat ” I know how
you love to see people plan when it involves
taking your life ”
” I know that ” clenching my hands, I smile ” that
doesn’t mean I will do things to cause lacey
grieve, if possible…..I will be the one to burn up
the warehouse”
” Which means you will be seeing them one
more time?”
” Yes ” I reply, stepping away from the window
and grabbing my jacket ” I need to see Linda
properly, before she leaves us ” cutting the call, I
walk downstairs, out of the mansion and
towards the garden.
Many things were in my head, I have decided to
come clean and admit what I did was wrong, if
it means me kneeling, I will do just that, losing
lacey isn’t something I wish to happen.
Never.
But reaching the garden, I look everywhere, she
is no where to be found ” lacey!!!!” Yelling, I walk
around but no sight of her, I didn’t hear the gate
opening, I know she won’t just leave, so where is
she hiding?
Before I could take another step, my phone ring
once more, I pick it up and frown at the voice, a
voice I can never forget ” are you missing
something?” A chuckle follow.
” Pond?”
” To think you still remember me ”
” What’s the meaning of this ?” I run my hands
through my hair, fear creeping into my heart, I
know pond and I know what he can do, I know
how horrible he treats women he despise ” what
do you mean?”
” Am talking about your sweet little lacey ” he
laugh ” even the dress she is putting on is
looking so sëxy ” I frown at the sound of at, I
keep hearing whimpers from the background.
” What is the meaning of this!!!” I growl ” why the
hell are you with her ”
” Lower your voice!!!!” I turn around and stare at
pond, he place his phone back into his pocket,
those dark eyes of his didn’t avert from mine, if
he is here….how can I hear lacey voice, that only
mean she is not far away
behind him, Angelo stood there, I knew that he
was a spy but never expected him to work for
pond ” do you think, you yelling at me right now,
will bring back lacey?”
Approaching him, I grab hold of him by his
collar ” where is lacey ”
” Fortunately, she is alive ” I stare at him, pure
hatred in his eyes ” but don’t think she will be
returning” he slap my hands off his body ” not
easily”
” Don’t you dare touch her ”
” Watch me ” he smile ” watch me Arthur ” before
I could think of anything, he move closer to my
direction ” don’t even plan on keeping me
captive, that won’t save lacey ”
” Why are you doing this?” I growl ” why bring
her into this, she has done nothing to you”
” Have you forgotten?” He lift his hair, showing
me the scar I gave to him, clenching my hands I
watch the grin in his face ” this is just the
beginning, your suffering, has just started and
lacey, she will also pay for your sin ” he smile ”
and yes, I do need Christine back….I know you
have her”
I bite down on my tongue, clench my hands as I
watch him leave.
How many people do I have to kill? Why won’t
they let me be? Why bring lacey into this issue,
she has nothing to do with it.
Doing anything to him right now will only cause
harm on lacey, I can’t act harsh, I must thinking
clearly, running my hands through my hair, I try
to catch my breath….she will be okay.
She can’t die, I haven’t even permitted her to die.
Not when I can’t live with her.
George drop the phone, he
didn’t bother in going back to the bedroom, it’s
already late, she should sleep on her own for
tonight, seeing her face right now will only
cause me anger ” hello” picking up yet another
call, I nod ” are you sure you killed them”
” Yes ”
” Even her child?”
” Yes sir” the thug pause ” are you sure this is
right? The boy look so much like you, I was
scared for a second that we were hunting the
wrong people”
” That’s not my child ” I clench my hands ” and
it’s better he is out of this world” I hung up and
then clear my throat, I just killed my own child,
that word keep ringing in my head.
” Did you just kill a child?” My gaze move left
and I stare at Monica, she look even more pale ”
what was that on your phone?”
” It’s nothing”
” Why are you hiding things from me ” she yell ”
can’t you be honest?”
Running my hands through my face, I growl,
getting tired of arguing on every little thing with
her” What do you want from me!!!!” Turning
around, I pause the television and face her ” you
want sincerity but not my child?”
” Child?” She laughs ” you keep going on and on
about children but have you ever thought if you
can be a father? If you are even eligible for
one?”
” What are you getting on?” I growl, getting up ”
can’t you stay a second without causing
arguments?”
” Is it wrong if I wish to know more about you?
You hide everything!!!”
” What do you want to know!!!” I growl and she
flinch, this woman keeps making me angry,
keep interfering with things I wish to keep
hidden, is it so important for her to know me in
and out? ” Isn’t loving you enough!!”
” George”
” Must you see my dark side? Fine. I just
finished killing a mother and a son ”
She step back ” what are you saying?”
” Am telling you that am a murderer and”
sighing, I scoffed ” I killed my son ” she cover
her mouth and step back ” are you satisfied
now? Are you happy?”
” Your child?” She shake her head ” but you want
a child badly, you have always…”
” That doesn’t matter, you’re pregnant ” I
mumble, trying to read her eyes ” you won’t run
an abortion…. right?”
She shake her head ” I can’t have a child ” I
watch her Slowly bend down ” if I do, I might die,
they have always been a slim chance of me
getting pregnant and now this? ” she look up at
me ” I don’t want to die George” tears drop from
her eyes.
